To make bags sturdy, you could grab some plastic canvas and stitch or sew something onto that! I haven't done that, but my expert crochet auntie recommends it, and it seems like a legit option! :) God bless!
add lining to the inside of the bag to make it more sturdy that way it won't stretch out so much when you place heavy things inside
