    4s/4p does not mean they can be hooked up either way. It means both parallel and series together so the max setup would be 16 batteries hooked up 4 in series and 4 parallel as in 4 rows of 4 series paralleled together = 48v 20480wh

      Yes I know. I was referring to the maximum capacity. In this case, the battery can handle all three types of connections

    Just as a warning: This model's quality (12.8v 100Ah) has gone downhill in the last couple of years. The batteries I bought in october 2022 have at least 50% more amp/hours than the ones that I bought in January 2024. They became a lot cheaper for a reason, from 300 to 200 USD, I haven't manually measured them individually but when charging and discharging the amps that travel in the DC circuit are almost half as the old ones. See this as a direct equivalent of shrinkflation, or that they're probably getting rid of lower quality LiFePo4 cells. Make sure you test the capacity and return if they don't meet the 100Ah.

      I call BS on this, and if you DID get some bunk batteries, I'm sure PQ will take care of you on it if you contact them. Ive bought a number of them over the past few years, and I've found the quality has only improved since the first ones from years ago. BTW, the first ones are still running close to 100% rated, which makes sense, being that they ran 20% over rated when they were new... Nothing but positive results here.

    nice review. glad you point out outher powerqueen battery's . for your use and inverter size looks like 200Ah heated type or one with low temp protection. The low temp has been tested on youtube. it works. you could insulate the battery. what we do in NY . it's cold hear as well. depending on your charge controller it may have low temp cut off. LiFePO4 does not vent H2 gas so just pack some insulation around it and under . I just the flat board foam type. easy to cut and fit and just duck tape it. even insulate the heated type. it draws on the battery to keep warm.

    Great review, but I find it somewhat strange that you would knock it for the reasons you state. I live in the PNW USA, and when running lithium iron, it's just a fact of life that we need to keep them warm, or we can't charge them. There's many many options when using a non-self heating battery, like 12v heating pads etc, and we just know that we must use them. I agree that the low cut off is a nice added safety measure, but if we let them get cold, and can't charge them, what good are they? Letting a LiFePO4 battery get below freezing in the first place renders it useless to re-charge. A little insulation, and a $30 12v heating pad would solve all the problems. BUT, I do 100% agree that the auto heating Power Queen is a great choice!

    • @madetoexplore
      @madetoexplore  Рік тому +1

      It’s a great battery but even with a heating pad, it’s nice to know that the battery has the ability to protect itself from being damaged if something were to happen.

    • @WizzRacing
      @WizzRacing Рік тому

      Exactly.. If the low temp cutoff is used. It's too late.. Why I wrap mine in 5/8" High Density Foam rubber. And still use a Charge controller with the Low Temp Cutoff just in case. And it's worked in -20 degrees F for two years.. As the temp stays above 45 Degrees...As the cold can't get close to the batteries...
      If your real paranoid. You can wrap them in Heat Tape. The same stuff they wrap water pipes with for pools.. They stay above 40 degrees F in -10 degrees weather...

    • @mrgregweber
      @mrgregweber Рік тому

      Low temp cut off matters for many. While it doesn't for you, many really need it. This review points out it is missing on this inexpensive battery being sold in Canada where it gets cold. $$$$ batteries investment can be damaged. The reviewer is correct to point out it doesn't work. It doesn't work for him.

    • @WizzRacing
      @WizzRacing Рік тому +2

      @@mrgregweber Did you read the post? The cost to wrap the batteries with thermal tape. Is cheaper then the extra cost for a battery that has that function.. A function in some batteries that does not really work..
      Thermal tape them. Insulate them. You will never need that function. And you save yourself $130.00+ in extra cost per battery..
      I would add. Most charge controllers include a low temp shut off probe too start with.

    • @WizzRacing
      @WizzRacing Рік тому +1

      @@mrgregweber What part you not get? As you insulate them. then wrap them in thermal tape to prevent any chance of getting near 30 degrees..
      And you don't need to write a book on how that works. It's just cheaper and you know it works "Every Time" Go ask people that deal with Cold weather that own swinging pools. As an RV 12 volt 40 watt heating pad is less then $20.00..The same pads they use to keep water tanks from freezing in an RV..
      Have a nice day..

    Pretty sure the DCC charger shown in the vid has low-temp cutoff in Li profiles. If so, I will suggest the problem in cold WX is not lack of BMS cutoff, but lack of internal heating to keep the bank online.
    I'm not in CA but my 100Ah LFP sits on a 16w warming mat which holds the temp setting nicely.. After reading a bunch of cell datasheets I keep the bank rather warm at 50F/10C.
