- VLOG: Winter weekend on our Aussie offgrid homestead working on the veggie garden makeover project. We set up for future reticulation and fill our DIY raised garden beds with the lasagna style 'Hugelkultur' method.
thank you for sharing your off-grid homestead journey with all of us. Your openness and generosity in sharing your experiences have been both inspiring and educational. Keep up the fantastic work, and I'm eagerly looking forward to more updates from your beautiful homestead. Cheers to you and your family! 🌿🏡
Thankyou, and you’re welcome. We’re grateful we have other like minded souls like you to share our journey with ❤️
your raised beds turned out awesome well done
Thankyou!!
My husband is just the same i'll be rugged up and he's in t-shirt, shorts and thongs 😂The beds are looking fantastic, can't wait to see all the wonderful things you both grow in them.
Right?!I just don’t get it!! 😂😂
Cool, look forward to seeing them filled with plants.
Keep watching… got updates soon!
Great video guys well done.
Just a thought for if you do some more. If you wet down the cardboard really well between layers it can often help get worms up into the beds faster. It will also help to get some heat into the bed to wet it down each layer and to break up an any air pockets.
But as usual I love your videos. Amazing 🤩
Plus I love the way you are wearing shorts 😂 I’d be with you Amanda I’d be rugged yo and maybe even have a hot water bottle with those temps 😂😂😂
Thankyou! And thanks for the cardboard tip… we’ve got more beds to do so we’ll keep that in mind 🙌🙌
G'day guys.
Hah, hah, I also learned pretty fast that with free ranging chickens, I had to cover my beds as they would love to get in there. I use old cheapie bird netting and stretch it over.
I was watching you layer the beds and I was daydreaming about having all of that material here oh and all that hard work paid off on the shaded area.
That's great how it stayed nice and warm inside when the temps were so low outside.
Good luck with the beds and looking forward to seeing them producing for you.
Take care.
Daz.
Thanks mate! We’ve managed to keep the chooks out so far but will need a better strategy as the veggie patch expands. Very stoked that the shadecloth reduced frost impact 🙌
The beds look great maybe a layer of stubble over the top to help with water loss?... OH! and Dozer needs a coat, I was getting cold just watching him shiver...lol
Aw poor puppy he is! Loves his toy, Hippo was still tucked up in the warm house 😂
Oh, and will address the mulch situation next video with our garden update 😉
@@ROCKPILEOffgridHomestead My dog, Nadia, is spoilt... warm coats at night, sheepskin bed and most mornings she will sneak into my bed...LOL
If Reece plumbing isn't sponsoring you guys, they should after Corey wearing just their tshirt and shorts in -2 !!!!
Im with you Amanda. Wearing all the layers!!!!
😂😂😂
He’s still got a whole bunch brand new too… not going to run out of Reece shirts soon. We really should order some of our own 🤔
-2, feels like -6 has to do with humidity and wind chill.
I wonder how the Swale is looking now Makuru is over
It’s been a very dry winter. The dam didn’t even fill this year but the swale is hanging in there.
How many rooster do you have?
Too many… 6 😭
Yay look at you gooooo....🎉 Can't wait to see the yummy food you grow in there. ❤great video as always ☘️
@@ROCKPILEOffgridHomestead I thought you may have. I have 4 girls that I bought as chicks, theyre just starting to lay. I'll be looking for a rooster when they get clucky. Tis so much fun watching them and their shenanigans.
