Absolutely lost it.
Can i just say how great the character development for all this is?
Elora (being the most prominent one, in my eyes) changed from this happy go lucky elf to this really cautious, close to paranoid figure in the team, constantly thinking and such
Trell changed from this guy who generally doesnt give a damn, to someone with a sense of humor, and at least a small bit of care for his party.
Jiutou changed from an angry tiefling who would sooner punch than speak, to someone who seeks ways to resolve conflict without bloodshed, even trying to save someone that mere weeks ago she wanted to brutally murder.
and of course Cam changed from this jackass who only thought about himself into someone who (literally) would jump through hoops and sell his own belongings for the betterment of his party
it just feels so.. satisfying watching them all grow
I'd like to add on, even though I am nine months late, that Trell seems to give a damn more in general. He didn't especially seem to care about anything except the mask up until perhaps Jiutou's death, or maybe even a little after that. Yet a couple episodes ago he went out of his way to help the god-awfully annoying gnomes, the Smurf-nibblings, at great risk to himself.
Hence why Trell is rapidly becoming my favourite
I think that Eloras growth is more Katie being a bad roleplayer and being Katie than character growth ex:her saying shes naíve but she always questioned everything everyone did since day 1.
Elora didn't get to grow yet, that's just the player breaking character to survive. Nothing wrong with it, just not character development.
Jiutou changed into really irritating character and annoying as i see it
For all the people saying RiP Duracell, consider this: They're in a dungeon space that's making a 'thing' out of twisting time and space. Duracell fell down the pit into water - dark water that they couldn't see too for into. Back in the main room, there was another door that opened onto a wall of dark water. I expect that if they end up back in the main room and open the water door, they'll find Duracell having 'sunk' all the way down to the door. Fingers crossed ^.^

Yup, Kim's as jaded as her character, and considering how many times Mark have asked "What would Jiutou do?" indicates that her roleplaying isn't really that great, she's constantly unsure about what is in-character and what is -out-of-character.
Trott's a natural at performing, granted, he does have the most DnD experience of the players, but it's in his personality to act out like Cam.
Katie haven't really developed her RP skills a lot either, she (and her character) is at her strongest, when talking in a non-explore situation. A lot of her character's quirks is that she can (and should) go animal of some kind.
Out of them all, Matt's the one who've "developed" the most in his RP skill. He started as solemn, silent and somewhat held back, the exact opposite of Trott. But with how he is playing Trellimar, I'd say he probably is the one pulling the highest "quality" of RP.
Mark, I'm playing catch up on these, so I'm not sure if it's been clarified yet...
you're correct that temp HP doesn't stack (if you already have temp HP and a spell grants you more temp HP, you choose which of the two you want. it's basically a Halo-style overshield).
However, Aid as written does not grant temp HP, it actually first raises your max HP by 5 per spell level for 8 hours, and then heals for 5 HP per spell level. Temp HP last until they are either depleted, or until the end of a long rest, while the Aid buff to Max HP disappears after 8 hours regardless of resting (I suppose it can also be dispelled). You can heal up to the new Max HP while under the effect of the spell, but if your current HP exceeds your natural max when the spell ends, your HP drops to your natural maximum (per WOTC staff).
Obviously, as with all things, this is subject to DM fiat if you think the RAW are OP or cumbersome.
Also, I've noticed that Katie seems to have repeatedly had some undue frustration with wild shape, specifically in terms of trying to transform at the start of her turn and then moving through tight spaces. You've helped her with specific suggestions in those moments, but a brief meta-level discussion about how breaking up movement works in the context of a turn might save her that frustration (i.e. movement isn't an "action" in the same sense as attacking/spellcasting, and doesn't has to resolve before you do other things). I know you guys all love Critical Role, maybe remind her of the way Keyleth often transforms in motion while running at an enemy, or while jumping off of ledges.

He's psychically aware of his surroundings, it's come up multiple times now and was explicitly explained when they first got him.
I know but when he said he's not real I had the same reaction as Matt I was like "YOU SHUT NONE EXISTENT MOUTH YOU USELESS PIECE OF BRASS!!!"

I love to imagine Matt's tiny breakdown about Granamyr is also Trell's.
Aid increases your maximum hit points for the duration of the spell, which means those hit points can be healed back and would take the brunt of the Spectres' attack.
Temporary hit points are different and they can stack with aid.
Ironic that the episode Matt shows off two cool Granamyr things that were sent to him by fans is the episode that... well... you know...
but remember mark eluded to granamyr is not gone for ever

I've just figured something out, I don't how many others already know this or if it was even intentional or not but still it's pretty cool.
Elora is the princess of the moon spire and follows the circle of the moon, Trell's patron is commonly associated with stars against the night sky and both his coat and Granamyr's egg both had a similar pattern, Jiutou relies heavily on fire-like spells and pre-mortum her passion to kill Corak and rescue Tiefling slaves was so bright it shunned people away, almost like the sun, and Cam is a Lightborn, a being blessed with the power of a destroyed magical comet.They are all related in the terms of basic astrology.
Jiutou's admittedly a tiny bit of a stretch but still, it's an interesting little observation.

another thing to note, using the wand of magic missile, for anyone else who plays and ever gets one, only use the one charge per turn, it maximizes damage potential. rather than 2 charges in one turn for 4d4, use those 2 in two seperate turns you get 6d4 over those two turns, two extra dice

Hmmm.... part of me wants to eventually DM a game, and have a villain that is actually a player in another room.
I like the idea, but surely that would make it even harder for the DM to plan things seeing as there are now 2 unpredictable variables that could completely change the story. Might work as a one-off though?

I mean, it would be a long time before I even unterstood how to play DND, nevermind DM it, by that point (Being able to DM a game, which I would consider it like above Mark level, like maybe 1 book-check per session level of knowledge.) I would probably be able to think of something.
+WizardOf Don't try and DM until you think you're ready. I DM'd my first game with only the Player's Handbook, and it was an absolute shitshow, but doing small improv campaigns really helps your ability to describe things and adapt to the players actions. If I could give any tips it would be, like Mark always says, don't go too big at first. Start with planning a small dungeon and the starting town, possibly a few main NPCs but nothing too drastic to begin with. The more practice you put in, the better you get and the more fun you have :D

Yeah, I'll be more than ready before I DM being almost ready.
As far as my experience goes, that's a very, very difficult idea to do. In all my years of roleplay gaming, I saw this idea trying to get into something interesting, and it never worked, even with way better DM than me and different game systems. It's just madness and chaos.

Late reply, but Mark said he presumed that Cam had gone back for it since he's a 'nice DM'
I'm not sure if Mark is house ruling Aid, but it actually raises the hit point maximum of the target for the spell duration along with healing them that amount. It's different then temp hit points and temp hit points work with it. So if someone has 20 hit points, then aid cast on them, for those 8 hours their hp max is 25. If they take 5 damage and go back to 20, for those 8 hours they can still be healed up to 25. Again, any DM can run stuff the anyway they want of course.
I finally finished catching up with High Rollers and I missed the stream this past Sunday :P My D&D group's DM had something come up, so I didn't have my D&D fix for the week and I've been itching for this episode to come out!

it is. but you need to remember that just because it works like that in real life doesn't mean it works in D&D. it all depends on dice rolls.
Its even described as a tool/weapon, which implies its used to cut
daggers are used to stab, nimbus is a dagger in this case. But it matters little either way, the DM has decided in this instance what is going on and so there really is no point arguing here. Talk to mark directly. It might have been Trott rolled low on his attack and that's why it didn't cut through. It also might have been because of
a slight magic resistance. Until we know what the monster was it's pointless

A quick google for flail snail seems to indicate that one of the 5E books has stats for it and it's an elemental, in 4E it's a Fey beast, in 2&3rd it's non existent, also apparently they're typically non-aggressive.

they state what they choose when they level up after they are done. as oppose to ability point upgrades, I don't know.

Almost 72 hours of campaign, I think it's pretty fair that they're level 6 now
but leveling to 7th level in 2 sessions??? One where they didn't even kill anything but some goblins, which wouldn't give enough xp?
Peter Senior its not about how much they kill, its about how creatively the kill them and do certain things like search around, have good ability checks and so on, like I said every DM has their own system, Mark's, personally being one of the best out there.
Peter Senior Exp isn't only awarded for combat. Solving puzzles, avoiding traps and talking your way out of fights can also count as "winning an encounter" :)

Hold on a second when trell goes trough the portals up and down, friction does apply so he slows down. But the fact that he jumps in from 30 feet and gets to a platform of 40 feet does not matter?

Just a note, against that spider. . . creature. . . thing in the crazy stairway, shouldn't elora's wand of magic missile had full charges? They'd taken at least one long rest and at least two short (a short at the drow enclave where they found it, a long at the deep dwarf keep, and one short on the shores of the river Styx after Charon sailed off laughing evilly) it gains 1dx+1 charges every day, yeah? I suspect a day had passed. Loving the campaign, and am taking all sorts of ideas for my upcoming 1st game as DM.
its possible in marks world wands do not gain more charges. Or perhaps he might have just forgot
I think he forgot, because he specifically stated it got 1(d6?) +1 charges per day when Jiutou picked it up. Coulda been 1d4, but still the result would be the same.

Michael Coull No. As far as it seems he has a once per long rest he can turn into a raven, and it lasts one hour.

Hey High rollers. I love your stream and are currently rewatching every episode again. I have started a D&D campaign with some of my friends but they are not motivated to continue playing. If Mark or anyone could help me with ideas for motivation that would be great.
Hey Man if you can describe why they aren't motivated we might be able to help. Though putting his in the highrollers or the DnD subreddit will get more answers.

And for long stretches, Matt doesn't get to play his character, everyone knows their stats but him, and he gets to feel like Trell is underpowered. He looks like he is having a dreadful time
