- Okay, so It's not new, per se. Also, the racecar is still very much under construction. Nevertheless, it's better, and actually running now too. The Mercedes M120 V12 is what gets to go in the car.

A few things: I forgot to film an outro to this, so thank you to everyone for watching, please Like, Subscribe, all that Jazz- I'm also more active over on Instagram (@wesleykagan) for the day to day stuff, If you want more than once a month content. Speaking of once a month content, I'm one person in a garage, and doing once a month is working well for me currently, I'd love to do videos every day for you guys- but unless someone invents the 450 hour day, It's difficult. Sometimes I'll be a bit faster, sometimes it takes a bit longer- my biggest thing right now is to focus on quality over quantity, which I understand the algorithm doesn't like, but so be it.
Thank you for watching, and for your continued support, comments, and insight.
Man oh man that is some machine
Keep up the good work! More than happy with the monthly cadence!
Keep at it! Your quality is above and beyond.
Always a treat to see a new video. 🤙👍
They have work days that are about tree fidy hours now, you could probably use one of those.
Followed!
Your progress is admirable. If you finish this before Binky, I'll...not actually be surprised.
Just be sure to post a video when the V12 gets freevalve.
This is a tragically under-subscribed UA-cam channel.
Yeah, it would probably grow more if he would upload more content
@@nicolascrescimone this takes time.
I’m happy Wesley spends more time off UA-cam………just wasted energy/focus for him❤️
Right?! Are we all just early to the game. I really appreciate what you do!
I agree!
The fact that you can go “Ya I think I wanna make a v12 powered, F1 inspired kart”, and then go out and do it. Complete respect for you. Can’t wait to see what new comes from this project.
Thanks for watching and happy new year. Send me a text on telegram with the username above🔝🔝🔝 I have something for you...
You make serious fabrication and other highly advanced processes look elementary. It’s impressive, yet slightly soul crushing for mortals. Great work!
"highly advanced processes" steady on there.
He so busy he never even reads this comments and answer them LOL
@@cocosloan3748not everyone has the time to read and answer comments
@@lahar2412 No - hes just being asshole
Wesley, I think the videos don't do enough justice to show the amount of time, effort and ingenuity you put into this kind of project.
Don't get me wrong, the video is awesome and hearing that thing fire up after all that custom work must feel absolutely amazing. Love it! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! It’s entertaining condensing a month down into a few minutes, but I try and keep it interesting!
Epic! I love the creativity!
@@WesleyKagan i don't usually leave comments, this is exactly what i felt, you cut away too much,I would have watched this broken into parts of 30 mins or a single clip even over an hour, check out m539 restoration and you will see there is defintely a niche where people don't mind watching videos over 30 mins or an hour for that matter and still find it interesting
@@WesleyKagan You could probably get 2 or 3 videos out of the amount of material you have in that one
I could watch a entire episode on those headers 😱
Hey Wesley, there is a UA-cam channel called Garage4AGE whose author has done extensive N/A tuning, documenting each step of the way with a dyno. Would love to see you take all of his ideas and apply it to this engine! (also, 2-stage or infinite variable throttle bodies are cool).
Thanks for not splitting this into a 36 part series like many other YT'er do. Some people don't want a step by step how to, but rather a glimpse into what a man with knowhow can do in his garage.
Throttle body setup is impressive! Having your printed parts solve spacing, mounting, and provide an axis for actuation at the same time is engineering m.o. Excellent work!
*_Dude, that smile when it started! I smiled right with you, I know that feeling when all your work pays off in that one moment when you hear it come to life. Awesome channel, I love your work! I'm subscribed now._*
I did the same thing 🤣 👍
Thank you! Yeah, it was very nice to hear it fire and not a hole through the side of the engine or anything.
@@WesleyKagan 🤣 right! Sounds great man.
@@WesleyKagan LMAO!! Yes. Did you create a base map for it?
Indeed. The look of somewhat Sinister yet gleeful!!
The levels of genius this man brings to the masses is both numerous and spectacular. I feel like Wes is an engineering Ted Talk inspiring us all mixed with a 4 drink minimum comedy show. Massive appreciation for this gem of a man.
Thank you so much for the kind words- I really do appreciate the feedback I get from videos, and honestly I feel very lucky to have some of the best comment sections on UA-cam, full of brilliant people that can share ideas.

Not about the money. For me I see a passion that's documented.
The problem is he is great and real.
UA-cam only promotes fake people with fake personalities..
Seriously impressive work you’re doing! You’re bringing into fruition one of my dream builds and doing something I’ve aspired to for a long time!
Not only does it work but wow, it promises a really gorgeous sound show!
I need to get it on a dyno and let it scream
@@WesleyKagan and we need to see it, hear it, and with good enough speakers, *feel* it.
@@WesleyKagan Not that I want to delay any of your current projects, but how feasible would it be to build a dyno that you could bolt up to the flywheel?
@@WesleyKagan And that episode needs to be longer! You can leave in waaay more content and we'll lap it up!
@@WesleyKaganI've only just found your vid and your channel, but I'm 1000% behind that
I always appreciate your ingenuity and how you can apply a simple solution to a complicated problem by sidestepping the existing systems and creating your own
Thank you for the kind words- to be fair though, not all of them work!
Im glad you switched over to the M120! I have one in my garage waiting for my SF15T replica project and have read on how spectacular they are and was wondering if I had made a mistake when the one you originally chose was the newer V12. I’ve noticed most Benz engines after the mid 90s got “cheaper” vs the previous, “no expense spared” engines. I also own a M119 that is built like a tank and I’m proud to have acquired.👍
Fantastic content as always!! So looking forward to the next part. Been following ya since early days and awesome to see you've gotten more recognition!
NEW WESLEY VID - MUST DROP EVERYTHING I'M DOING TO WATCH!!
For sure.
If It's glass maybe set it down gently, but I appreciate the enthusiasm!
I love the sound of it. The choppy idle, and then briefly that smooth rev...you jut know she's going to wail like a banshee when you get it completely tuned. And you're wrong I not only like your rear motor mount, I created something very similar (Although he sketchiness was proper as the entire stand was made of wood).
Could put 12v to the cam magnets and the thing will run like a Sowing machine at idle
Always get excited to see a new Wesley video! Love your dry sense of humour and seeing the satisfaction you get out of the stuff you build.
Absolutely amazing work! I recommend you tighten the front accessory belt, it looked like it was flopping around pretty bad and giving you inconsistent voltage. that may be why it was running a bit rough before you were able to make it idle decently
Absolutely brilliant, love your work! This is going to be superb, can’t wait to see the progress, well done

Wesley seems to be a "low-key" sort of dude - but he is unable to stop small flashes of pure joy and pride crossing his face when it kicks and runs! Top channel, please keep it going, they are really interesting glimpses into what I am sure is a genius brain.
My favorite part, too
This is my first video I've watched made by you, I have never seen you been recommended to me once before. I am now going to be a regular viewer aswell as watch your previous content as I sat through this entire video with pure awe watching your ingenuity and how much effort you had put into this. Keep up the amazing work I loved this video.
Hey man, just found your channel today and watched a whole bunch of videos starting off with the free valve Miata, keep up the good work my friend! I find you working on all this stuff very entertaining!
I'm so impressed! After having converted a carburated car to Megasquirt and built manifolds, I can appreciate how much work this is to project must be. Your willingness to put in the hours is so impressive. I really love the Megasquirt platform for the software but the learning curve is an on-going adventure in personnel growth. You have a great eye to your final goal and putting your time into what is needed and not getting stuck in too many rabbit holes.

I appreciate the self awareness and the comedy (even if unintended). Always stoked to see your vids man
Lol naaa bud
Sir. I am happy to finally have been introduced to your videos. Real interesting and unique for YT. Love the guts it takes to leap into V12. Then seeing some energy going into making it worth being a V12. This is downright exciting !
Awesome job as usual!! A ton of ingenuity put into this no doubt! Curious what you used for the intake manifold. You mentioned maybe going a different route than the stock one you cut up and looked like you used something else later in the video. Thanks in advance!
Keep doing what you’re doing. Every time I see you posted a video I’m excited!
Thank you! Will do!
WESLEY! I had always imagined building an M120 like this for a special kit or custom project car and YOU'VE DONE IT LAD!! This is so cool, kudos for all the effort and amazing craftsmanship! As a fellow engineer I really enjoy your content. Please keep it up. 😄

Man ive been watching this channel for a while now (about 2 years) and the build progress for the project has been amazing and aeeing all the cool things youve put into it. Keep it up!
You have some incredible stuff happening on this channel. Love your projects and creativity man
Wesley, the most underrated and modest person on UA-cam! Awesome.
That ending was the perfect cliff-hanger; we NEED to hear it pull down a straight!
I can’t wait to put it on a dyno! Thanks!
That exhaust manifold looks magnificent, would have loved to see the welding on that.
Any plans for an airbox (or 12)? Or how will you prevent stuff from falling into the zyl while on track?
I Hope it is not a 6:1 collector. Uh it is. 6:2:1 !! Equal length? Good enough. I love the pagani zonda 4 end pipes.
i'd like to see some in depth footage of how you actually do these things. these fabrications are so immaculate that i'd really like to know how much work goes into this. Also could be quite educational. Great work!
I'm really glad I happened onto this one. I've been dreaming of building a V-12 powered hot rod for many years now and originally thought of using a Jaguar or BMW engine (no way I'd be able handle Ferrari or Lamborghini). But I really liked what you did here and enjoyed your approach to making videos (especially the Dr. Strangelove reference). I built an RV-8 that is currently flying; when money trouble forces me to sell it I'll get to work on my dream hot rod to create new money trouble, and I'll refer back to your videos for tips and hints.
That's a work of art. Love it
Thank you!
I love watching these videos.
You're the genius for the common man.
You manage to explain everything in perfect sense without losing your audience and it's honestly a treat to watch your videos
I appreciate that- I’m really enjoying taking my time with projects like these.
You legend! Thanks for sharing this, can't wait to see it up and going. Would love to see more, particulary re the chassis / suspension of this VonderKart!

Wow always wanted to do that but was going to put 2 straight six 5MGE motors together to make a v12 5.6L but the work involved was too great. I think starting with a block (no matter how good/bad) saves so much time. Smart move!
Those headers are insane! Very nice!
Thanks! Had a lot of fun building them!
"We're good" the last thing you want to hear from an engineer.
IMPRESSIVE. The attention to detail, electronics (wiring) and fabrication of the headers via TIG is beautiful. Quite envious of his abilities. Engine sounds fabulous.
I was really impressed with the first build and this one is amazing 👏. Keep up the good work. 👍 ps, programming the stand alone is really frustrating, even after setting up the crank parameters. Been there!
OMG!!! I cannot wait to see more of this. I know it was only running for a couple of seconds, but i can already tell this m120 is going tto sound glorious at full throttle. You just got another subscriber
PS i think you should put this engine in my w124 instead of your racecar 😂😂 Seriously though, love your work mate
Hey Wesley! Owner of a ‘96 S600 and i love what you’ve done with the M120!! I see that you have powder coated valve covers already so i’m sure you’ve already replaced the breather tube that sit underneath the intake manifold and feeds the T junction that you hooked those clear pcv tubes up to! just want to make sure you are aware of the failures those breather tubes had in case you haven’t changed it out already and run into any vacuum issues in the future! Can’t wait to see everything you do with the beast!
beautiful! omg a few hot revs with that is addictive!! some of those feelings just are hard to replace!
Idk why you channel popped up in my feed but I'm glad it did. I did t know how much I wanted to see this. And that lil smile at first engine start., I know that all to well!

God I love this kind of content. Amazing work and the look on your face when it starts up immediately is priceless. That feeling of accomplishment cannot be overstated. Great work.
Sounds menacing! How will it compare to the Cosworth DFV?
probably pretty good, m120's were used in the CLK-GTR, as well as the Zonda series.
probably a lot less likely to try and kill anyone though, hopefully.
Damn I'm glad I stumbled on this channel !!! This was very impressive 👍I'll be binge watching for a while!
Positively Brilliant Wesley!! Love your channel. Appreciate all you put into it.
the subscriber count needs at least another 0
I keep on writing one on in sharpie but it doesn’t quite work like that
Wow your amazing!!
I'm building my 2nd Cobra Replica and I wish I had 1/2 the skills you have. I'll keep watching as I'm sure I'll learn something and get some inspiration as well. Thanks
Fabulous work! So smart. Love that benz/kagan masterpiece 🏁
wow....that was an amazing transformation!!! you are an artist building that thing!
Phenomenal job! Can’t wait to see this in the race car! Amazing content, keep up the great work
4:30 Alright I'm impressed you managed to move the engine less than 1 pixel on screen. Might be some extra tricks you used I don't know about, but that was good.
Thats awesome!!! The smile when that thing hit on a few cylinders at first... it's awesome when you build something and it works. I love that feeling.
I like when I build things and they don’t immediately explode- er, well, the explosions are in the right place at the right time!
Looks and sounds awesome. Good job dude.
The mechanical throttle linkage, the wiring, the exhaust fab. You're skilled at every discipline, Subscribed!
Awesome build, cannot wait to hear it run properly. Just wondering how you attached the crank position wheel to the pulley? It slipped on way to easy compared to my current solution of welding it to the back and filling out all the other pulleys on the engine 😅
I keep checking for a new video!!! Your work is very impressive. Can't wait for more content.
Sounds incredible. You make all of this look simple. Love it.

Great video - and pure genius. Hats off to all mechanics - what patience.
You are incredible!! Thank you for sharing. Be extremely proud of yourself. Sounds awesome!
I love this thanks for the itb setup idea I’m gonna try it on my bmw e46
Hey! Last time I commented on your videos was pre-crazy car build. I just swapped an Audi 2.2 Turbo engine and its 5spd transmissions (swapped to rwd) into a 1999 Ford Ranger.
Had to flip the axle upside down to get 5 forward speeds! I currently have a set of "reverse cut" gears waiting to be installed into my Ford 8.8 31 spline axle housing. Been hesitating worrying if they're compatible. They were meant for a Ford 8.8 front axle assembly. Until then, oh well!
Plans are street/work/track truck. 400-500whp on pump gas 93 is the goal with a 62mm turbo feeding two 295/18 NT555 tires. Should be a quick little ranger.
Anyways, love your projects. I'd drive this bad larry out there and help you with some big project sometime in the future! hahaha
Absolutely top tier work. Great content, very inspiring to get busy building
First, let me congratulate you on starting and running a Merc V12 "in the wild". When you get the time, please feel free to share over here! Some of us do not do IG, FB and the rest. Two suggestions; next time you tackle headers try "pre running" with wire to help "envision' routing and developed lengths, and second, I would have built the header to first merge as assemblies for three cylinders. That said, you did bang up- custom headers for even a lowly 4 cylinder engine is a pain- this must have been excruciating! And the sonics you did achieve are just glorious! Can't wait for the first drive- stock those were 500 hp or better; with a third the weight and better air flow, this can exceed your driving skill level really quick! FR
What an awesome project so perfectly documented. This is what a gear head can achieve with all the time, skills and equipment at his disposal!
Dood your skills and craftsmanship are top notch I am envious I have worked on high end bikes and a few jaguars and Austin martins I actually learned a few things from your videos.
Thank you
I love this care for details. Great job!
I have never subscribed so fast just from hearing an engine.. and then your engineering is so inspiring truly a man I will look forward to seeing in your future endeavors

Came across this as a random recommendation. Subscribed after watching this. Very VERY Cool engine mod. Will be looking up past videos as well. Phenomenal detail to your components. I have always been a GM Big Block fan, and that engine sound is erotic.
Thats impressive, kudos man :) BTW I always wanted to see an engine with all the control/sensors per cylinder (so you can adjust afr and see issues perfectly for each cylinder), maybe some 12 separate ITBs-by-wire could be a fun project ;)
