Loading-Up The HUGE Kenworth Road Locomotive At The End of Truckin' For Kids 2013

- This truck is used to haul very heavy loads...kind of like a locomotive for road use. At the end of Truckin' For Kids 2013, the guys of American Heavy Moving & Rigging are seen loading their huge Kenworth prime mover onto a Murray detachable goose-neck lowboy for their trip back to Chino, California. I know nothing about the big KW, except to my ear, it sounds like it's powered by a Caterpillar. Shot on Sunday October 6th, 2013.

For the people that think it's unsafe, the circumstances involved for those brackets to come off and the trailer separating, mean a far greater amount of destruction are already happening. Like a jacknife or rollover. A pothole isn't going to just bounce it apart.
*The reliability of this machine is a breath of fresh air. In a world of uncertainties, its consistent performance provides a sense of security and trust, making it an indispensable part of my daily routine.*
Kenworth 953 or 963 Oilfield trucks designed to be used in the desert usually equipped with flotation tires to haul VERY HEAVY loads from location to location.
Nicely done, shows that guys who know what they are doing and have the kit make it look nice and easy.
And not to forget the engineering that goes behind it to make the field work short, simple and easy.
Big is beautiful & this is 1 glorious looking beast, whoever thought it up & then went ahead & built it, kudo's brilliant looking truck.
Loved it. Did this for many years. Love that kittykat. Retired now, but thanks for refreshing my memories. 👍❤️
Magnificent engineering. Skill, precision driving .... I'm impressed.
First time I saw a detachable goose trailer I couldn't believe how simple and slick it worked. Way easier and safer than any ramp over the rear trailer tires. I agree that at first it doesn't look strong enough but it works and I've not heard of any failures in my western province of Canada.
A lowboy
Grey Nomad - a similar system is quite common in Australia especially among the upper echelon of the lowloader heavy haulage community. Here the primemover (tractor) is uncoupled and the Gooseneck is hydraulically folded out flat (known as a folding gooseneck trailer) to form an easily negotiable and very low trailer.
This is very expensive equipment compared to rear ramps but it does have the advantages shown in this video.
What really makes this setup slick is having someone doing the airlines and such for you!!
I must have watched this clip half a dozen times over the last few years, love it!
Well thanks a bunch! I am happy I was able to get in all the right places at all the right times to shoot this video. I'm proud of it. Comeback often.

Youll go back again, 😂
Wow this new Matchbox super set looks perfect detailed
I love the simplicity of that couple and it clearly works for big loads.
At least as long as there is traction to pull the tractor under the trailer... Might be practical with a winch, if loading/unloading on rough sites
It’s a very common lowboy
My mother in law could use a truck like that to haul her giant ass.
LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!
thats how your wife is gonna look as well lol
Roman Planter That is not true at all. My wife and I have 6 kids and she works out every day. My mother in law on the other hand is the laziest person I have ever met. Her idea of cleaning up her house is spraying air freshener.
Road Boss LMAO !!
Lmfao
I like heavy equipment. The operator is a very good skill. Very good engine sound. Thank you from Japan.
Yo Japan, nice to meet you.
I have see this thing in action. Moving a drill rig in the port of long beach CA. After the drill rig was up on wheels this bastard basically backed up to it and towed it away like it was going fishing. It was epic!
ryanburbridge I was there with Thomas Crane and trucking for that rig move
Probably the kenworth 963 truck built for that
That detachable gooseneck system is very interresting, never heard of it before. Seems like we don't have that many of those here in germany. oO
You never stop learning :D thx for sharing
I'm pretty sure you have many of them, although they're more for heavy haul. Of I'm correct, ramp trailers are more common over there, are they not?
common lowboy
Great video, great piece of precision driving.
That, was smoooth!
The big kenworth looks like they learnt a thing or two from Scammell, and supersized it for the US!
How punny the towing truck suddenly looks... Beautiful! Thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching.
Very neat trailer, well designed, no hydraulic, no wet kit, brilliant
Is that an old military tank trailer??? the way the 5th wheel goes back and forth is neat,,,,,,,,,,ah life before complications of the 21st century. hope this shows the kids its all been done before and things can be made to last
Robert Taylor no, that is Murray , they are one of the best 16 wheel expandos out there. Used alot on the West Coast.
💙💙💙💪 all I needed was to see him to pull away!
What a amazing truck. This one is in much nicer shape then one I found
Yeah, this one gets pampered I bet. That oilfield work is rough and dirty too. I imagine most of that equipment takes a beating a lot of the time.
i have to compliment you on ur steady camera work. great work, great video
Steve Sai Thank you and thanks for watching.
Now that you mention it, it is very good camera work lol.
eSPeeScotty I agree better than almost all I've seen

I like heavy equipment. The operator is a very good skill. Very good sound. Thank you from Japan.
You're welcome. Thank you for watching!
What the truck! That big Kenworth is trucking awesome!
No
Always loved the lowboy trailers
That is one pair of sweet KWs. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much for watching.
Except once big boy KW gets started, the hauler looks like a midget and sounds like a moped.
Excellent video and awesome camera control.
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing this I’m familiar with gooseneck trailers and trombones. I found it interesting to see a different way to do the hook up of the “neck” to the trailer compared to the ones I’ve seen here in 🇬🇧 Something that I haven’t seen at all before this video is a sliding Fifth Wheel which I found cool to see!! So thank you once again!!
You are so very welcome! I'm happy I was able to bring something new to you. Many people from other parts of the world leave comments saying how this entire setup is so antiquated and basically stupid compared to the systems that they use. All I can say is that this system is as light weight as can be yet strong, as inexpensive as they come to build, purchase, and maintain, and just utterly reliable. The most advanced thing is that pneumatic pin system on the sliding fifth-wheel and the airbag suspension on the truck to lift and lower everything. I was thrilled to be able to get all of the steps from such a good perspective and to be able to share them in this video. Thank you for your comment.
@@espeescotty I don’t know about you but I’m 54 years old and old school I started on Colchester lathes all manual no cnc involved all the milling and grinding machines were too. With a boss who I now count as a WW2 hero Polish Fighter squadron based in 🇬🇧 Sometimes old school is better than modern in the right circumstances but not always. That truck of yours is just brilliant I presume that the tyres on it are military spec’s and I bet it will beat some of the modern stuff.
I know of an old military recovery vehicle that was being used by a friend of a friend, it was 8x8 AWD and it was the only vehicle that managed to get a truck out of heavy mud. It had brake locks on top of standard brakes, axle locks and diff locks. Sometimes old school rocks 😀😀😀😀
You tube just recommended this to me, 10 years after.... thats one beast of a truck. 6.4 million views.... awesome!
Thanks Dave! Yes, this is one of the ones that turned a lot of people on to my channel. I was so lucky to be in all the right places at just the right time to catch all of the action. I am particularly proud of this one. I really appreciate you watching. 🤠👍
That Kenworth sure is an impressive hauler!
all i can say is props to the truckin for kids. big rigs for a good cause
I'd shit myself again after seeing that monster infront of me when I bust the door open😂😂
Aargh. When your truck is more than Semi but is a full-on locomotive!
good shot of how they attach the neck to the trailer with the pins. gives me an idea of how to make one.
i like the trailer system .... really cool !
ah man...wanted to see them take off.cool video.
That BEAST gives a new meaning to the phrase "WIDE LOAD"!!!!
Thank you for your sharing information.
My ears tell me that's a big ol CAT3412. Be willing to bet my retirement pay. Been around a lot of Cats in my 38 years of trucking. There's something about a Cat that just gets your blood pumping. Just saying.
I like the kitty cat it gets me pumped 🤣
Goodness Gracious Alive!!!
Now this is Truly a Large Car!!!
I Love it,i Want,i'll Take it!!!
I'd drive to it's destination too!!!
Honest mistake it ending up at wrong address, mine, lol
@@kennethdodge3779its a damn semi truck nit a car
Hi, @stebo59, you are absolutely correct, it is a CAT 3412 under that hood. If one looks at the other video of this very Kenworth, that video takes a motion view of the underside of the tractor; as the engine oil pan comes into view, it is of the CAT 3412 engine. The CAT 3412 engine installed is a 1,000 hp double turbocharged engine. The axles are Clark planetary axles, a giveaway is as if one looks at some of the earlier Clark (formerly Michigan) front end loaders the same axle cover design is used. The only thing interesting is the ladder frame/chassis, I don't think a double rail design is used, which the KW oil-field tractors currently use. It could be an "I" beam cross-section perhaps, like what was used on many Mack Off-Highway tractors, decades ago, like the Mack model M and LRVSW series tractors, some of which used Cummins VT1710 engines, and Mack own "Plani-Drive" planetary rear axles. The Facebook site for American Heavy Moving & Rigging, Chino, CA has info on this Kenworth and my info on this Kenworth is courtesy of that Facebook site.
Imagine coming out of the crapper and staring that in the grill. If it didn't come out while you were in there, it would when u opened the door, lol😅
Hahaha...funny! Just step back in to wipe. 🧻😄
That thing is amazing, I love it
Whats the kingpin to rear axle distance on that setup. I know nothing of kenworths or of truck-in but I see signs all the time that talk about king pin to rear axle length.
@6:00 are those 2 tabs all that connect the top hitch part with the trailer bed ???
What a monster... Love it!!!!
⅕0l0le÷
i use to play on a old kenworth just like that when i was a kid, parked on uncles ranch next to my grandpa's Clydesdale stables rusting into the ground
Great Job ! Professional!!!☺
Beautiful and king of the big wheel
That thing is a absoulute freakin monster of a semi! Sounds amazing aswell!
A feast for the eyes and ears! I just found out a few days ago that it's running a 1000hp CAT 3412.
espeescotty and in the 20 feet it moved i bet you that cat drank a bout 10 gallons
lol is it just me that, when the video first started thought "wait...thats just a standard size truck"...then the camera cut away to it lol. That things a monster haha, those trailers always make me a little nervous, when he's connecting it up it looks like an awful lot of weight on not really that much metal. Cool vid btw :D
Mr Onion Now that you point it out, it is almost like someone tapped me on the left shoulder and I turn around expecting to see someone my height or shorter, then I take a quick double take and a serious tilt of the camera upward. Thanks for the comment.
That's a lowboy trailer.
I have to give compliments around...Nice gear and the men know what they are doing...Nice video as well...Eric I thought if the outhouse was in use ...well ouch...
+Builder99 Thank you for watching.

Now there's a commuter truck if there ever was one. Perfect for runs to the grocery store or picking the kids after school.
Best vehicle to ever cruise the HOV lane too.
I always put the horse shoes through the ears turned sideways so they don’t hit the ground
thats a beautiful truck
beautiful behemoth !
Imagine a poor guy with the runs in the “port-a-crapper” letting one rip just as that truck pulls up. Damn I knew I shouldn’t have had that second bowl of chili.
Why you so obsessed with kakkaa ja minne menet kakkaamaan? Oliko sinulla liikaa kuitua syötävänä?
@@QuadMochaMatti It’s called a joke.
what would they use a truck that big for?
whoever was in the porta-potty at 2:09 should be really glad the driver had a spotter there.
beautiful C5!
Loading up this trailer on a muddy work site would SUCK!
+Klperformance68 ...Sadly, a swamper isn't there for his good looks or pleasant personality.
Thanks very much!
+Joseph Guyger You're welcome.
What year is the ken worth
Awesome.
Outrageous
Airslide 5th wheel. How cool!
James Pendergrass standard equipment these days, haven’t drove a truck in decades with air slide 5th wheel
A beauty getting loaded on a beauty ;)
Well done lads
I thought when it said "Huge" Kenworth they were exaggerating - they weren't !

what is the model of that kenworth
This is the real King of the Road
looks like a bad ass Cozad trailer ... I hauled a m88 with a three axle Cozad .
It is Murray.
sing the Simplicity of how everything works in this video is pretty awesome
Is there a use for this truck? or is it a look at what I have truck?
It can't drive on the road?
Very very nice work💼
Very interesting video. May I ask why embedding is disabled?
That is the second headache rack I have seen like that. Does anybody know where you can get them?
I would like to know also
A True Monster of a Truck
i think it's funny how the "Little truck" is hauling the Big Truck
hi everyone, which model of Kenworth is this?!
Holy crap that thing is huge.
WOW! Amazing!
..That's all that holds that trailer in? Amazing..oh yeah the truck too XD
Yup, simple, strong, inexpensive, and dead reliable...oh and the truck too! 😋
That truck was a monster! As if the T800W wasn't big enough
It is even bigger than Super 963S or C540 though.
Wonderful!
Wow thats a big truck!
That Trailer is so cool , strictly mechanical, and simplicity of design.
Finally someone see's the beauty in it's design and simplicity and therefore it's ultimate reliability.
1st time I seen a Driver do nothing but go forward and back up.All Drivers I know do their own hook up and tie downs. They don't trust helpers.Small truck on a Murray.Semi didnt even need to get a run at it.Oh well,it's a big truck to some. Thanks for the vid.
wow,that's a huge truck!
Nice view of how the drop-neck (is that the right term?) trailer works. Those little (!!) links carry all that load! Thanks for uploading!
AAAyyyGGG Removable Neck is the proper term. Most now have what are called "Sissor Necks", or laydown necks. You pull the locking pins and lower the neck with the winch as you drive forwards. It makes for a full width ramp, easy to load over and quick to laydown and pick up.www.ingeniumengineering.com/Images/trailer06.gif
I have seen those as well. These work well in warm climates, however during a Canadian winter when your truck and trailer are packed with ice and snow, digging out and trying to start a small engine has proven to be problematic.
As most of the oilfield and equipment haulers are equipped with winches, a good operator can unpin and lay a neck down very quickly. This has just become the standard practice here.
AAAyyyGGG Right! those little links scare me too…
+amirlach Scissor necks are actually not that common because they are to heavy.
+Adriaan Verburg Come to Alberta, sissor necks rule the day. In the past they were heavy, but tthe newer designs are alot stronger and lighter. Most of the new 40 wheelers have sissor necks because they are as light and as strong as the removables. They are much faster to lay down and you do not need the aluminum ramps as seen in the video. The ramps for our 40 wheeler are 6 feet long and require two men to handle. The owner of the company assures us a new 11 wide one is in the budget. We simply cannot haul the newer bigger and longer service rigs anymore. Nor compete price wise with the faster sissor necks.
Brutal machine!!
My kids would say "Dad can you drop me off at school in that?".....
I would've said the same when I was a kid. At least they're not saying drop me off down the block and I'll walk in from there.
this truck is awesome! I want!!!
never really saw how exactly in detail those trailers worked, pretty neat and simple
AWESOME!!!
what model is that? what was it made to do?
Just curious, How much does it weight and what's under the hood of this beautyfull behemuth.
Sorry, I wish I knew those things too. To my ears, it sounds like a Caterpillar engine.
