  • Bacterial vaginosis, previously known as nonspecific vaginitis, is a synergistic polymicrobial infection caused by several bacterial species.
Gardnerella vaginalis is the most frequently found organism.
Other associated organisms include, Prevotella, and anaerobes, including Mobiluncus, Bacteroides, Pepto streptococcus, and Fusobacterium.
    Mycoplasma hominis.
    Ureaplasma.
    Streptococcus viridans.
    And Atopobium vaginae.
Bacterial vaginosis affects approximately one third of women, making it the most common gynecological infection encountered in practice.
However, it is not considered a sexually transmitted infection.

Thank you for including the IUD in this. So happy we are finally acknowledging that an IUD can cause it. The bacteria can literally gather around the device… I’m prone to BV and am working heavily on trying to create a natural solution because the medical stuff given to me didn’t work and neither did boric acid. I’m doing so much research and hopefully I can create a better solution. I love this
