I like how they show their good relationship with how he gently pushed her away when she went it all crazy... But then started to get ten times crazy when they started to disrespect her.
If you dig hard you'll notice that BOTH were naive but just in different ways. Like Will was ''class dumb'' while Carlton was ''streets dumb'' LOL And plus there was no good or bad guys between the Banks and the officers. It was a case of mistaken identity but since the Banks are black, it leaves peoples wondering if the motive was racial LOL
*BALANCE* is the key. Content of character, not color of skin. Two things to add. 1. Being black does not give white police the right to mistreat us and violate our rights. 2. Being black DOES NOT give US the right to break the law. *BALANCE* Question, how do the police know who is committing crimes and who is not. If we don't allow cops to do their job, at some point the criminals will do whatever they please and society will not be safe.
Profiling is illegal, you can't target someone just because they have a certain skin tone unless you're actually looking for someone specifically. And if you're pro profiling. How come whites aren't profiled the most since they commit the most crime? Also the 'let police do their job' = just code for 'let the police indulge in their racist fantasies'
A smiliar situation happened to me when I was living in the states. I was walking on my way back to my grandmother's house after gaming at a friends and it was pretty late, I followed google maps that took me through a neighborhood where I was stopped by 2 officers who said "They got a call about a car thief in the area" thing that got me was I'm a suspect in grand theft auto but I WAS WALKING HOME!!
Honestly, even though the cops let them go, Phil could easily have filed a lawsuit on that entire station. They still illegally detained two minors and questioned them without counsel. That'd be one heck of a suit.
That’s EXACTLY RIGHT, what Will said, they (cops) only see 1 thing, the color of our skin, they automatically assume a black man or black woman has done something wrong, this was a classic episode, that’s TRUE TODAY in 2024
Carlton’s naïveté can be easily critiqued and it functions as comic relief. However, it DOES present the reality of individuals who ARE innocent. The innocence is a beautiful and good thing that, unfortunately, is broken down by maturity and the difficulties and hardships of life. No parent would want their child to lose their innocence, and I think Will’s frustration is really the pain of having to see Carlton’s innocence broke down.

The best part of this episode is Bob singing.
Calm yourself, Barney Fife!
Carlton was naive and doesn't have the street smarts like Will.
*BALANCE*
Question, how do the police know who is committing crimes and who is not.
Damn Uncle Shredder. That’s colder than Turtle soup.
0:44 Will Smith epic facepalm :D
Honestly, even though the cops let them go, Phil could easily have filed a lawsuit on that entire station. They still illegally detained two minors and questioned them without counsel. That'd be one heck of a suit.
Way to go uncle phil
Will: You had one JOB, Carlton!
1:11 this dude rlllly threw it back just there
RIP James love me Uncle Phil!
Great show- 'The Flesh Pimp Of Bell Aire'
They only see one thing.....the color of your skin.
so true
So sad but true
You know it’s serious when the Shredder voice comes out
Still not much has changed. This is still as relevant today as it was in 1990.
Uncle Phil handled this!!
When she says barney fife I busted out laughing
I would’ve did exactly what Will told me so we can get to Palm Springs
That’s EXACTLY RIGHT, what Will said, they (cops) only see 1 thing, the color of our skin, they automatically assume a black man or black woman has done something wrong, this was a classic episode, that’s TRUE TODAY in 2024
God damn every line from will smith hit real hard like a boxers punch and not just what the police did
Carlton’s naïveté can be easily critiqued and it functions as comic relief.
I mean if the car isn't reported stolen what was the charge? Why would they even be arrested?
Because they're young black males driving a fancy car that white folks think they can't afford.....DUMASS!😡
Nothing like fictional racism to fan the flames of division.
