  • Oregon is getting a brand-new fighter jet. We are the first state in the country to get the aircraft for operational use.
    Story: www.kgw.com/ar...
Boeing just delivered the first F15EX to the Air Force for testing and evaluation. This, as Portland's 142nd Wing celebrated its 80th anniversary.
The 142nd Wing protects the skies from Northern California to Canada, responding in minutes to Russian bombers or reconnaissance planes that fly into US air space or unidentified aircraft or scrambling after the 9/11 attacks.

As a resident of Portland, I feel proud every time I see one of these. I see them all the time, and remember seeing them ever since I had a memory. I have visited their base and have even seen the inside of the cockpit up close of one of them.

Love seeing these pilots flying around, and glad they have the new F15s and not money pit F35s/F22s.

Jets can fly higher and faster, but we can stop and back up.

I said ‘get em’ but with such a lackluster tone because I was on the pain train. I knew I had to put that in. Appreciate you noticing it.

@@StephStricklen no, actually i didn't - because i didn't eat anything before the flight, just like for surgery. that was probably unnecessary though, cuz i had no nausea. my only problem was keeping a seal on my mask i was grinning so wide, lol!
they actually gave me a choice between a T37 and T38, both used in UPT. i chose the T37 because i wanted to experience the aerobatics. i figured going fast is sure fun, but at that speed, i suppose it's all relative. i've been super grateful for the opportunity - and the choice, because i think i made the right one for me. you know what it's like: looking up at the ground. best experience i've ever had ❤️
