  • Finally!
I assemble the Tram 1481-B dual band antenna.
I haven't been on the air with it, but I'll do that soon, and I'll see what the SWR is on each band. This is a well made antenna, and I look forward to using it as one of my main antennas.

Better check around the so239 connector and make sure it has drain holes , also don't forget to seal and or tape the fiberglass to aluminium spot on the bottom so you won't get water in it

That is one nice antenna Charles!! Damn, it's tall...but looks to be very well made! Can't wait to see how you get it up in the air and secured :-P

Thanks! I purchased 3 of them that were on a nice discount. I gave one away as a gift, so there's still one that needs to be assigned to a use.

Did you put it up yet and slap the NanoVNA on it? I just bought one myself and am very interested in what your results are. Also, get readings on the VNA for 6 meters as well. I say that because I am also building a 5 element collinear from a design I found on HRU which is supposed to work on 70cm, 2m AND 6m.

I was borrowing a VNA and got some basic readings on my antennas, but decided to order one of my own. It will be here this week. Yay! I will get the readings on video and put in on 6 meters for too. That will be interesting. It's amazing what a NanoVNA can do for such an affordable price. Yes, the antenna is up and operational, but I haven't had much time on the air with it. I'm looking forward to using it throughout the winter.

I should be raising this antenna up in the next week or so, and I will get a screenshot of the frequency characteristics for everyone. It will be replacing my Diamond X-50.

I have the Tram 1481- W? LOL! and the SWR is absolutely flat throughout the entire 2 meter band and was virtually so on 70cm as well. I did go to the trouble of weather/moisture proofing(clear silicone & 3M Super 33 each applied generously) mine because of known issues of water getting into unprotected installations and at the top of a 110 foot tower, I want it to be maintenance free for as long as possible. Stunningly great performance for the first 45 days after installation and trouble free so far. $84 from Staples of all places. KX5E

Is this antenna up? That's a huge antenna and with your location, should work great.

Sort of...it's installed, and I used it for a little while, but I am testing a different antenna on the same coax run, so it's on a pole doing nothing. But I plan to do a shootout comparison on some antennas, and this will be one of them. It's really nice!

Are you familiar with the tram 1480? It’s a 2 section 5/8 with 4 elements. Is there a way to tune it? There is no adjustment ring like on yours. I want to make it more resinant on a higher frequency like 467.

Most multi band colinear antennas That are end fed vertical have highest frequency on bottom so shortening the uhf for a higher resonance frequency will require you to add to the top to keep the big where it was.
