    One of the best golf instructors on UA-cam. Major key that people miss and think they need some very difficult shallowing technique instead.

    Very nice video Kerrod and clear demonstration of the difference between what swings should look like and what poor golfers like me actually do. Strikes me that if one can get the hip action right on the backswing, a proper balanced finish should be achievable.

    Hi kerrod ,no questions, so simply and clear explanation, not easy to erase bad habits, but now creating new muscle memory I can play better. Most all your videos are excellent. Thanks again. Have a nice weekend. Oscar , Canada , Gallaghers Canyon.

    Great video...most of these videos about early extension focus on the left hip, but this is really interesting you start with the right, which makes sense as origin of issue could be right hip. I am working on this and for me, I would do both, I.e. focus on depth of right in backswing then left in downswing, using sticks or a chair etc...

    The "secret" missing from the video is to maintain the hip depth during the downswing that was created on the backswing. Lots of golfers get into a decent position in the backswing, but they think "hip rotation" and throw the right hip/side back to the ball on the downswing. What separates nearly every pro from nearly every recreational golfer is that the pro keeps the hip depth on the right side when the left hip moves back and opens to the target. The hips basically walk the pelvis away from the target line and then open to the target i. The followthrough. It's so unintuitive that most golfers never learn it correctly on their own.

    Ive been filming my swing recently ands this video described pretty much every fault i have seen! Shaft too vertical, on my toes, arms bunched, facing the ball at impact. Great advice to work on.

  • @mikekirkland7722

    Great video, I think I get decent hip turn but then fire everything at once in the downswing which eliminates the space created. It makes perfect sense to get the arms moving into the space before firing the hips. Sounds so obvious but I’ve never heard the sequence described so well before. I’m looking forward to trying it out on the range. 👍

      Hi James, thanks for your comment. Focus on a shorter, controlled backswing to reduce strain on the hips and promote a more consistent impact position. I actually just released a video covering this on my channel if you are interested.

    Great Video Kerrod. however when you take the club back it looks like your right leg straightens, I was told this is the reverse pivot position Is this correct please?

    • @kerrodgraygolf
      @kerrodgraygolf  Рік тому +1

      Hi, Graham! A reserve pivot is when the upper body is too tilted in the direction of the target at the top of the swing relative to the lower body. The right leg lengthening is not a reverse pivot by itself. Thanks for asking anyway.

    Kerrod, I always thought the start of the downswing was initiated by the lower body. In ur explanation and video, however, it appears to me that u start the downswing with ur arms and hands and then activate ur lower body. Am I wrong?

    • @kerrodgraygolf
      @kerrodgraygolf  Рік тому

      Hi, Ronald! The downswing absolutely starts with a shift of the lower body; This is simply a feel!

  • @Dolfandad79
    @Dolfandad79 Рік тому

    I'm confused, I thought hips should fire before the arms and the arms are following the hip rotation. You are saying the arms should come down in the space before hips fire and all should rotate together?

  • @williamreichert4798
    @williamreichert4798 Рік тому

    I have looked carefully at pro golfers on video. They do not move the trail hip behind them on the backswing. The trail hip may move toward the target in. the backswing. but they do not actually. get more "depth" in the backswing. They may move the trail hip more deep during TRANSITION if it. is associated with a slight squat done by slight flexing of the trail leg at the end of the backswing .The main thing to avoid in the backswing is moving the trail hip forward towards the ball. The only way to move the trail hip deeper is to flex the trail leg.But this rarely happens when good golfers swing back .More commonly we see good golfers EXTEND. the trail leg in the backswing, not flex it

    Just concentrating on the right hip going back doesn't work tried it for years, and the hips simply dont turn enough

    • @kerrodgraygolf
      @kerrodgraygolf  4 місяці тому

      Maybe you could work on spine rotation if you are struggling with hip flexibility.

  • @georgetinwick3450
    @georgetinwick3450 4 місяці тому

    And gets the hip too deep and makes it impossible to open the hips up at impact

    • @kerrodgraygolf

      This is just to exaggerate the feel and bring awareness.
