Being a Christian makes it even more emotional. This was one of my all time favorite albums and my favorite song on it. He is truly amazing he needs more recognition. He beats so many that are famous.
Great reaction! Thank you for your honesty! Hopefully you will come to know Jesus…I will pray that he will call you to himself. Because He gave his All for you!❤
Great reaction. This performance always brings the tears. Dan Vasc is a musician who genuinely cares about the performance he puts on. His standards are high and he does not settle. We can look forward to awesome performances every time from him. His delivery of the last line in this song is best and saddest of the song. Hail Vasc-Nation ❤️🤘✝️
I completely agree with you on that last line of the song. I've heard his performance of this song so many times over the past years but that last line still gets me. Even if I just listened to it, I still get goosebumps at the last line of the song. You're right that there's really something so sad about it. I'm not even sure what it is about it that gets to me but it just feel so sad, brittle and defeated. Like all of emotions that built up during the song is released with that one line. Whatever it is, it's amazing. :)
This song requires technical singing chops and mad passion, and Vasc has both in abundance. Superstar is a decent starting point for non-Christians, because it envisions Jesus as a popstar, not a rabbi, and it poses a lot of the questions that spiritually hungry people ask. It doesn't provide answers and it isn't preachy, and it is not KIng James compliant. It and Godspell were the anthems of the Jesus movement of the 1960s, and there is a reason for it. I hope that you all can find what your soul is looking for.
This guy is certainly a damn fine singer, he does possibly, one of the very best renditions of Amazing Grace that I have ever heard; but in all honesty, the guy that performs this from the original movie/play simply, cannot be beat. His voice and vocal range are absolutely, obscene. Almost supernatural. If you have not watched the original I HIGHLY, recommend it. Plus, there are a lot of powerful performances all throughout, as well. But this guy; yes, one of the best and most powerful voices out there today, that I'm currently, aware of. In another time, not so very long ago; he would be an international, superstar by now. Warmest Wishes. Be Well and Safe. Out. 🙂🖐🏼😌
I absolutely love it!!❤❤ And I am a catholic and I absolutely love Jesus Christ Superstar!! I am 66 and I got the album when I was 14. You can see how much feeling he has in this song. Voice range is phenomenal!!❤❤ And he's not acting-you can see and feel his feelings!! Truly touching!! Reached my soul!! Love Dan and love Jesus!!❤❤
I think we're sisters, I'm 66 and catholic and LOVE JCS. I used to sing it all the time, drove my folks nuts. And omg, Dan should do this on stage. Absolutely HAS to do it.
I have watched this numerous times... always, always, brings me to tears... it's not a trained actor, it just comes natural with him... he's very good at it... between his voice and his presentation, how can you get anything better!?? ❤ He is msgical!!!
That’s a beautiful reaction, I’m so proud of people who are not afraid or embarrassed to cry publicly. Dan is able to transmit God’s love and Jesus’s message so deeply that it’s impossible not to have our hearts touched. You’re a very sweet person, I loved everything about you, keep being exactly the way you are💖🌷
Thanks so much! Wonderful, deeply-felt reaction to a superlative piece of art. No religious affiliation or belief required - that would be like saying only Christians can appreciate Bach’s St. Matthew Passion. More Dan, please. Another Broadway-ready performance is The Music of the Night. I’m sure you will love it!
Great reaction - please do more of his. His talents know no bounds and his portrayal of this is incredible. There doesn't seem to be many people reacting to it which is such a shame. I sincerely hope more people get to see it - whether you're Christian or not makes no difference to appreciating it for what it is.
I’m also a non-Christian, but loved the show Jesus Christ Superstar. Never thought I’d like a version as much as Ted Neely’s but this is spectacular. I love that Dan Vasc performs as well as sings so that you feel the full power of a song. He’s an astounding musician. So thanks for this reaction.
@@nancypeterson7708 , You are way out of line here. I was responding to the poster and not soliciting opinions about my personal beliefs. I was very active in church growing up and have read the Bible cover to cover many times. I’ve also studied other religions. I am a Quaker and deeply spiritual, but not a Christian and don’t feel a need for believing in supernatural beings. I also don’t believe in other gods, Santa Claus, fairies, or Bigfoot. I have a strong moral code that does not require believing in things I find illogical and indefensible. But one thing my moral code prohibits is leaving three unsolicited bullying comments about other peoples’ beliefs.
Thanks so much for your wonderful reaction to Dan’s interpretation of this moving song. He has learned his craft over many years and worked very hard to get where he is today. I just love so many of his amazing covers and would appreciate seeing you react to more of his extensive repertoire. 🙋🏼♀️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
His dedication truly shows! And I'll definitely be reacting to more of his videos that I have not yet heard. Thank you for watching, and for commenting! :)
It absolutely is! I watched it before I started this reaction channel and to be honest, it's one of the very reasons I started, because I wish I'd been able to share that reaction with others. Because his rendition is so moving and beautiful. It's beyond my ability to describe. :)
I don't think that Tim Rice nor Andrew Lloyd Webber are religious. Me either. Still, the story of Jesus speaks to us all, we should recognize it, because it's one of the age-old stories (legends) of the hero. Webber and Rice knew that this was the perfect subject for that time. And, this rock opera was one of the greatest works ever! I was 16 when I first heard the album (before it was a show). I went nuts over it! Know all the songs. But, Dan Vasc did a tremendous job with this, one of the most difficult songs in the show. I would love to also hear him sing the opening song by Carl Anderson (Judas). I'm sure he could pull that off too. Thank you for this post! 💝
I'm so happy to see more and more people discovering this particular gem of a song. :D What you said about him performing the song rather than just singing it is the exact same thing I've been saying in multiple comments to reactors for years, so it was really cool to see someone using those same words. I've seen Jesus Christ Superstar several times and listened to multiple recordings, including the original with Ian Gillian as Jesus and I felt just as emotional the first time I saw this video. I'm not even a little bit ashamed to say that I cried like a baby. He plays this role so damn well and you can really feel the anguish in his performance. I've both seen this video and heard his recording more times than I can count and I still get goosebumps at the end of it, every single time. It was really great to see you react to it and get to share this moment with you. It really took me back to the first time I heard it and reminded me of what I felt back then. So thank you so much for this reaction, I truly enjoyed it! Love from Sweden!
Thank you so much for commenting! I'm glad to hear you were able to revisit your own experience through mine. That's what I find so fascinating about reaction videos, because you get to vicariously relive your own initial experience through someone else's. It's a powerful thing, and highlights the power of the human emotional experience through music (and other types of art media). And I'm happy to have done that for you :) Take care!

Even if you are not religious, God is Living through you, as you...that's why you was so beautiful thouched by this performance and powerfull voice...you recognized what already is in You, because it Is You. ❤❤❤ Thank You Thank You Thank You!
Great reaction! You got emotional, because you connected with the song coming directly from your soul. Jesus Christ did not just died on the cross because of a belief, he knew that God the father and himself were of the same essence, but separated as two distinct persons. Dan was able to portray this cover, because as a Christian himself, he can understand what the scripture says when Jesus Christ actually experienced hematohidrosis (sweating blood) when he prayed in the garden "Gethsemane", before his crucifixion. Thank you for your respect and sensitivity towards us Christians during your reaction. And, of course I had to subscribe to your channel. ❤🇧🇷
Well, when I said he was killed for a belief, I more meant their justification in killing him. They believed he was being blasphemous and that that was reason enough to torture and murder a guy who was basically just saying things like, "love each other," "be compassionate," and to just try to be a good person in general. And thank you for subscribing! I appreciate it :)
@@nebulousreactions actually Jesus Christ did not just spread love each other. He also said that he did not come to bring peace but a sword. 'Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword’ (Matthew 10:34) Jesus Christ was pretty much saying that he was going to separate the sheep from the goat, meaning that if you don't follow his teachings and believe that he is God as part of the trinity, as God the father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, there is no hope for your salvation. He laid his life for us and it was HIS choice. Yes, they used the fact that Jesus Christ was claiming that he was the son of God to justify killing him. Because Jesus Christ indeed was saying that God the father and himself were as one and he could forgive sins. That was blasphemy to them. ❤️🙏
The best version I have ever seen was Ben Forster at the NIA Birmingham England in 2013. If you can find it I really suggest you give it a go. I was in the audience in the video that was recorded. A truly amazing version with a modern twist.

I am all about the phenomena of DanVasc! If you haven’t already seen some of his other operatic/movie/show tunes, check out his Phantom of the opera video. This song, JC Superstar, and portrayal is the most moving so far in his repertoire. His vast range of genres is absolutely breathtaking in so many ways! His ballads are outstanding. Watch his American Triology cover that he recorded a week after his father died from cancer. Be sure to have a tissue handy! His body of work is remarkable in every way. And his sense of humor is adorable ☺️❤🧔🏻♀️🎶
❤️🔥..thx for the beautiful soul that you showed thru your reaction the “Dan the Mans” soul stirring song. Ever since I heard him do “Amazing Grace”, I haven’t stopped listening to his covers. I believe the Holy Spirit is what we are all feeling & His favour is on Dan right now. Ever person I have seen react to that song has had tears, shock & awe at his talent.. but to be that special, to me, requires an anointing from God. I pray for him that his talent doesn’t get side tracked to “Hellywood”.. or some other place that ends up stealing his soul. He is special for sure..& so are you! The Creator loves you, my dear.. whether you know it or not.. blessings..🙏🏻
It's the love of our creator Jesus is God but was also man... he FELT every bit of physical and emotional pain while he walked the earth. This is an emotional song and I don't doubt Jesus felt fear that his death would be in vain. That his love for us would go unreturned like a mother or father whose children turn their backs on them or vice versa... so heart wrenching and Dan brought this up to a whole new level 🙏💙💙 i loved your reaction so much! Thank you for this! If you've not reacted to Amazing Grace yet, I think you'll enjoy that too, if you have, maybe try Bring me to life or make a man out of you ❤
Not sad, but courageous. Dan knows his own heart, and has a steadfast mindset as to his own goals. No broadway director could elicit as powerful a performance as this from any other singer. Dan is one of a kind, and a true gift to music lovers.
@@davidwest7853 It is sad that he will never reach his full potential and, while he may be a gift to those 800,000+ who have found him on UA-cam, that is nothing compared to the millions worldwide that he might reach were he courageous enough to step outside his Juiz de Flora comfort zone. His macho stance may simply be a cover for the fear that he is still the anxious, depressed, teenage nerd he once was. On UA-cam he is able to maintain his heroic fantasy life and receive nothing but reinforcement and praise. And money, of course, which he has often said is his prime motivation. Vasc has reached the stage were he is earning passive income and it shows, for example, in the fact that he now employs a social media manager. That removes the necessity of having to deal personally with those hundreds of thousands of adoring fans and allows him time to devote to his gaming hobby, which is all he has apparently done since Amazing Grace went viral. If Gethsemane shows us anything it is just how skilled an actor he has become. Add that to his charisma, business savvy, and dedication to his craft. He knows exactly what he’s doing and exactly how to manipulate his fanbase. It's his life; if UA-cam is enough for him then it should be a happy one. 🤷♀️
Ted Neeley sang it in the film which was released in 1973. I know a lot of people prefer Ted's version, but personally I prefer Dan's voice, to me it is richer.
You are so spot on with your reaction and opinions. I agree that he is a performer. I feel he could easily do Broadway and movies as well, as he puts his entire being into his songs. You absolutely FEEL when he sings. You don't just watch. You said you know the story but you're not a believer. I will pray that you become a believer, as I feel He will be coming very soon. Keep your eyes on the Middle East and particularly on Israel. I do believe those prophecies will be manifest very very soon. I wouldn't want you to miss out. You seem to have a sweet spirit about you. God bless you sweet girl.
Guys got some pipes! Nice reaction. This guy could cover Dio / Iron Maiden or Judas Priest easily! As A non Christian I love the band Flyleaf! Please do A reaction of "Flyleaf - I'm So Sick (Official Music Video)" Great Christian band and my fav song of theirs, although they have many great songs IMHO. Cheers ❤
Flyleaf is quite good. I already know (and love) "I'm So Sick" so I probably won't do a reaction to it though. Though, I don't think I've seen the music video, so I'll think about it.
Your comment that Vasc belongs on Broadway is interesting. I felt the same when I first saw this performance, but I don't think we’re going to see him go there. He is adamant that he intends to be in control of his career completely. No matter how gifted you are as a performer there are heights you cannot reach without collaboration. I can't see Dan Vasc submitting to the authority of a director, no matter how spectacular the result might be. That's kinda sad actually...😢
I think you're probably right. And while I understand wanting to have complete creative control, there are some cases like you say where collaboration becomes a necessity for growth. I'd say that's usually true of any creative career. And it is kind of sad, yeah, I do agree.
Could he be on Broadway? Absolutely! But, he is is living his musical life exactly the way he wants to. How could being true to your dreams be sad? If he was on Broadway his audience would be limited, as would his choice of music and the rest of us would be the power for it.
Of course, this is not really biblical. Jesus Christ was God's son and knew and understood why He was to die on the cross. He died for us. Yet, this was a very emotional and wonderful performance.
I hope you believe now that his crusifixian was for you and I it is to save all of us try and ask Jesus to come into your heart and ask him to forgive your sins and ask him to feel his presence please try and watch what happens it will change your life you do t want to die with out believing please do it don’t wait when Jesus died in the cross when he said it is finished the ground shook violently and then the guards said Shirly he is the king please ask him
Won’t you ask Jesus to come into your heart and ask him to let you know that he is there ask him to forgive you of all you sins and see what happens trust me go to your room and close the door and talk to him and see
Jesus Christ Superstar is a pseudo-Christian musical. The lyrics of "Gethsemane" don't really match the real content of Jesus' suffering in Gethsemane. Jesus KNEW why he was going through this and he KNEW it from the start. And though he dreaded to his core what lay ahead, he never questioned it or regretted it. He KNEW that He alone was the only spotless, perfect, and holy sacrifice that could save mankind - because He was the Allmighty God who limited Himself in the flesh of a human being (The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost = God). In the musical, the Jesus character is portrayed as a normal, doubting, "weak" person who suddenly questions the whole mission he had to fulfill on earth. This is far from the truth. BUT apart from that, from an artistic point of view, Dan Vasc's performance is brilliant.
I understand some Christians do take issue with the content of the play, from a standpoint of it not being completely 100% Biblically accurate. But I'm glad you were still able to appreciate Dan's performance here, because it's something special. :)
@enchantingmarina5221 : how dare you criticised the other ( non-christian) this way. She uses her chanel to show how Jesus the Lord suffered (and still suffer) for us. You don't do your homework and duty given, but still have hatred heart. You have just dishonoured God Almighty's name.

The Creator loves you, my dear.. whether you know it or not.. blessings..🙏🏻
It was just wonderful for me ❤️
It's the love of our creator Jesus is God but was also man... he FELT every bit of physical and emotional pain while he walked the earth. If you've not reacted to Amazing Grace yet, I think you'll enjoy that too, if you have, maybe try Bring me to life or make a man out of you ❤
Makes you believe! Better to believe!
Not sad, but courageous. Dan knows his own heart, and has a steadfast mindset as to his own goals.
No broadway director could elicit as powerful a performance as this from any other singer. Dan is one
of a kind, and a true gift to music lovers.
I'm an atheist and this made me tear up too. What an incredible performance.
Wonderful reaction, subbed. Always is a cover I love too. But there are so many great covers by Dan
Thank you for subbing! So far, it seems Dan never misses. I've been vastly impressed by everything I've seen from him.
I believe that you were definitely touched by the Holy Spirit. God bless. And keep your heart and soul open to Him.
Give Jesus a try! What have you got to loose yet so much to gain. 🙏
It is a Rock Opera!! Not a musical!!
Not sure that distinction requires 4 exclamation points, but okay :D
Being A non Christian what would you know about Gethsemane or even care about what happened there
Tons of kind comments from Christians, and you're the first one being nasty for literally NO reason whatsoever. Way to represent your faith!
I'd say everyone is entitled to their belief and their opinion without question. Sad you don't see it that way!
@enchantingmarina5221 : how dare you criticised the other ( non-christian) this way. She uses her chanel to show how Jesus the Lord suffered (and still suffer) for us. You don't do your homework and duty given, but still have hatred heart. You have just dishonoured God Almighty's name.
