5yrs skating in my younger days and my one regret is never learning to get out of the darkslide.
Mullen was always my fave. Def my biggest influence in terms of style, it was all about creative thinking and making anything, anywhere, skate-able.
      Legend.

*I love the fact that you tried to clean it up after landing it almost perfectly, and even succeeded with it.*
because normally It's like this: you land it almost perfectly, then you loose the trick, and then you land it again after 1-3 weeks..... or years.:P

I saw Rodney life in Münster Monster Masterchips in the end of the 80ties. Rodney still was on a freestyle Board and he did ollies about 70cm high. And all the other stuff he invented since then! It was so impressive, i ll never forget. He is a hero!

  • @groovefretboard

Rodney’s was a bit harder as he had to tre flip up curb height and he caught the flip out. I’m still impressed you even got a close version of Rodney’s bravo 🙌🏼🛹

Ereaser Yah it’s crazy how he not only invented the primo slide and he’s still the best at it based on vid parts. Johnny and Alexander Rademaker are 2nd and 3rd with a few new variations but Rodney’s still look best including a switch primo which Johnny should try. I can’t imagine trying it switch

    • @Babbages
      @Babbages 3 роки тому +1

yeah that's where rodneys competition flat ground skating comes in handy he's done all that so many times over and over to perfect it for competition so when he started actual street skating he was ahead of everyone on knowing the perfect spots to land or set himself up on the board so than his imagination just had to come into effect and almost anything he could think of could come true because he was skilled enough and had the mindset to do it then he would practice that to perfection
      .

Finally got my first Johnny giger in the mail the day before yesterday and it is the best board I’ve gotten in forever. Perfect dimensions. Pop is perfect. Flips amazing. Just love it. Plus the 3 headed dog graphic in blue with the red background is a beauty. About to go order another one already because I kinda chipped the nose trying to kickflip a big gap and accidentally kicked it out into a nose dive 🤦🏽‍♂️ hate when that happens 😑 anyway, just wanted to let you know how much I loved the board! Keep up with the great content. L8

    Hi johnny,
Thanks for uploading a video on my birthday. As someone who has never skateboarded a day in my life, and really only got into skating through THPS, your videos are incredibly fascinating and fun.
I love your overall positivity and fun, and showing yourself putting in the hard work to land these complex tricks shows everyone that nothing comes without practice and patience. But with those things, you can achieve anything. Keep doing what you're doing, you are a great role model and inspiration.
    Peace and love from Australia

This is like watching somebody make a billiards shot off two rails. Landing one trick is hard enough, but to land with your feet already in position for the next trick...wow. That's expert control. Loved seeing the progress too, makes the land that much more sweet.

This trick (railslide) is easier to land if you variable kickflip out. It takes more practice to land with your back foot (or front) on the nose/tail but its definitely easier to get a clean flip out with a varial flip for me. Good luck and congrats on yet another trick nailed 👏

  • @nicbongo

I had to slow down at 3:20 to try and comprehend what exactly Jonny actually did, a lot happens so fast!
His lead foot presses down to the left side of the board to prime the board with tension. His left foot then slides off to release the tension, just before his back foot kicks diagonally down, and to the right away from the board, which releases the board. The combined force of which is enough to make the board to the crazy flips before hopping back on.
Unbelievably subtle technique, and fascinating to watch (from a non-skater). Incredible stuff.
