    Hey everybody I just wanted to apologize for the volume and the video is off when I talk compared to the music. It's my first time using my new microphone to do voice overs and in the editing process that sounded the same but once I uploaded it to UA-cam, I find it hard to hear what I'm saying versus the music. Thank you so much for your grace as I grow to learn how to turn better and to edit better. Thank you for your wonderful comments. I hope you all have a blessed week!!

    Hi Kim, I love The shape you have created , It is a beautiful place, but I'm sorry to say I don't like the music , because I have a problems hearing you, I have the volume turned right up to be able to hear you talk explaining how are you do you work , I am slightly deaf , So when the music comes on it's a bit of a jump in volume, I sooner listen to your voice explaining how you do the work,
    Keep up the good work, BSafe.

    Hi Kim. Now you go girl, that is one fantastic looking bowl. Talking of finishes I use OB Juice also. I like it very much. For myself I use different finishes for different items of wood. Just yesterday I used two coats of OB and over that I used Mylands Friction Polish. I am not pushing any product as I do not receive anything for suggesting it. This is just my opinion. But Mylands does give a very nice luster and a mirror finish. Hut Friction polish also gives a great shine which I use also. That draw back is the cost which is way to expensive for my budget, of a Champagne taste with a Beer budget. I altered my OBJ recipe by and increasing the amount of shellac and see a better shine. So play with your recipe for sanding paste, OBJ and anything else you never know when you will hit upon one that will out perform all others. Oh yes make yourself some knee skirts to protect your feet, your boots are made for walking and that's just what they'll do, one of these days, those boots may walk you to the Mall. Lol :) God Bless

    I love the look you gave the bowl; it carries out the 2 Cor 5:17 reference of giving new life to old. I was also thinking of Romans 8:21 about the potter having control over the clay, just before you mentioned looking at pottery forms. Thanks for the video.

      Yeah, I had considered that verse and many others as well, but after much prayer 2 cor 5:17 was HIS choice.

    Blimey, there are some right moany bastards on your comments section! It's not very encouraging and that sort of "constructive" criticism can really dent a person's confidence. It's no wonder you are expecting people to criticise your hammering, chainsaw work, etc. There are so many fake experts on UA-cam who think they're clever because they know five facts and it makes them feel better if they can pull you up on something. I'll keep the British cursing to a minimum, but they really do need to get fucked with all that nonsense.The bowl was superb - lovely form, beautiful wood, nicely finished. I enjoyed this video because there was more of you talking, and you have a really nice voice. I understand why you add the music, but more of you would be better. I love to hear about process and why people do things the way that they do. I think that's common for woodworkers in general - it's a very right-brained process oriented hobby.

    Great job, Kim! I especially liked the way you handled the void in the bottom of the bowl. Where was your “security guard” (ie your cat) today? He sure would have kept out your “intruder.” 😸. Which of the EasyWood tools did you use for hollowing that bowl? I wasn’t too crazy about the music; it got in the way of my trying to concentrate on what you were doing; but I guess that’s why some people buy Fords and others buy Chevrolets, eh? . 😎

    As I have told you before, I love me some spalted wood. Early in the video you suggested looking at pottery online, that is key because as the piece ages the distinctiveness of the wood fades and the shape, ah, the shape is what counts. I'm all the about the shape of the vessel and this one is very attractive. Well done.

    Kim that is a really beautiful bowl. Love the way you describe how it got the best of you so you put it away only to come back later and conquer it. Bravo to you for sticking to it and completing a great looking bowl. Also tha is for sharing about the stuff you out in the resin and how it's the same thing as in the makeup, gonna be stealing some from my wife and daughters. Thanks for sharing.

    I wish more women had wood turning channels. I would never think of using make-up to tint resin. The spalted oak pieces you've been making are gorgeous. Thanks! Keep 'em coming!

    Hi Kim. I just reasently found found your UA-cam videos. I love your work .It has given me some great ideas. I have only been turning about 2 years and have made some really great pieces but none as beautiful as yours. I am trying to use resin my first 3 try were disasters. But after watching you work it has given the thought that I can fix the resin bowls that didn't come out right
    Thank you so much

    Looks mighty beautiful! I love that you combine more natural elements (wood + metallic) because it looks so earthy that way. When I saw you using makeup, I told my husband who was watching this video with me that he'd better not even think of it bwahahaha!!! (getting into my eye shadows). Thank you for sharing your talents and projects with us

    Very nice piece Kim. I can't help but mention that you could possible lower the amount of vibration that I saw on your lathe if you would move the quill back into the tail stock thus allowing the tail stock to be moved closer to your work.

      Thanks!
      My tool rest holder (the part that holds the tool rest to the banjo) has weird spot that sticks out so I can not get the TS too close to my banjo. It is hard to explain. I get it as close as I can. Drives me nuts. Horrible design!

    Kim, I think I suffer same malady as you,,,lack of patience. It gets me in trouble all the time. Your work turns out so great. You have found a way to control your impatience. Care to share your method? Rick Barke... also where do you get your most favorite bowl gouge from? Thank you.

    • @KimTippin
      @KimTippin  4 роки тому

      Thank you so much 🤗
      I realized patience, much like everything else, is achieved with practice. Everything requires a level of patience. Once you realize you are less patient with a certain task, you work on it. Like muscles at the gym. 😁 That is my experience, anyway. 🤷‍♀️
      My gouge is a Carter and Son 5/8 bowl gouge. I ground it to an Irish grind. 🤗☺

    I've got to get me some spalted oak, love that grain, lovely job Kim. Love the turning and love your voice over but hate the volume of the music. I'm new to your channel and am hopping for some more info about that shine juice? How often do you sharpen your gouges?

    • @KimTippin
      @KimTippin  5 років тому +1

      Sorry about the music... I am better at turning than editing lol clearly!! :/ I will be sure to fix that in the future. Thank you so much ! As for the OB shine juice, I got my recipe from Cap'n Eddie Castelin
      ua-cam.com/video/taJbBmcaAZQ/v-deo.html I sharpen as my tool starts to not cut as smooth or I feel resistance in the cut. Depends on the wood as to how often.

    • @WoodMonk3y
      @WoodMonk3y 5 років тому +1

      Kim Tippin Wood Turning. Hi ho Kim thanks for replying, I suppose it's all in your own personal feel for your tools and their cut in the wood your using, please do me a favour and put some foot protection on (the 3 toed wood turner isn't a flattering monicker) although here in England we do have the naked chief. I too have a lot of glitter (for the kinder garden in my parish), I use watercolour paints that I rub on sandpaper to get what I want. May God keep you and your feet safe.
