- I originally started to turn this months ago. Thought it was just going to be fire wood. Glad dug it from the pile and gave it a 3rd chance :)

Thank you for all you do to help support and encourage me to keep on turning :)
God bless!!!
Hey everybody I just wanted to apologize for the volume and the video is off when I talk compared to the music. It's my first time using my new microphone to do voice overs and in the editing process that sounded the same but once I uploaded it to UA-cam, I find it hard to hear what I'm saying versus the music. Thank you so much for your grace as I grow to learn how to turn better and to edit better. Thank you for your wonderful comments. I hope you all have a blessed week!!
Kim Tippin Wood Turning you keep doing what your doing… we’ll wait here😁 Can’t wait to see what’s next.
@@SteveC38 , Thank you Steve!
Hi Kim, I love The shape you have created , It is a beautiful place, but I'm sorry to say I don't like the music , because I have a problems hearing you, I have the volume turned right up to be able to hear you talk explaining how are you do you work , I am slightly deaf , So when the music comes on it's a bit of a jump in volume, I sooner listen to your voice explaining how you do the work,
Keep up the good work, BSafe.
Phil from the Moulin in France.
Wow, another stunningly beautiful piece! I cannot afford to do any of this so I live vicariously through yours, and others, videos. Love the pottery look! You rock girl!
Thank you Vickie!!
Kim that is a smashing looking bowl your idea about the pottery for creating shapes is outstanding I love it would never have thought of that in a million years and if you just popped out to the shed for something then decided to finish a bowl your family must be famished ...
Thank you Steven!!
lol yeah, thank goodness they know what buttons to push on the microwave.. lol
Awesome work done on this piece of spalted oak. Just like us spiritually, we are broken souls and God does His work on us and makes beautiful pieces of his creation with time, effort and patience!
God bless Kim! You continue to do wonderful work that amazes me
Thank you so much 🤗🤗 AMEN ! New Creation!
Very nicely done Kim👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Kim,
You’ve become not just a turner but an artist.
Also loved the Fl cockroach at the end.
Phil
Thank you Phil! Yeah, we got plenty of those here for sure!
A very beautiful piece. I whine about the music, way too loud.
Any chance you could lower the music volume to be more in line with your voice.
sorry, I didn't notice it was so bad until I uploaded it. I truly apologize.
Learning to edit video is just as tricky as turning.... at least for me anyway lol.
Great work! I know I can't throw any of my 'failed' projects out; I currently have a stack on my workbench about as tall as I am, it is good to see that one of them may turn out great in the end!
Beautiful Bowl, But I would prefer it with no music I like to hear the sound of the lathe and chisel singing. Thanks for posting. Richard....
Thank you Richard. I have other distracting noises going on while turning, otherwise I would do without music. I apologize 😔
Hi Kim. Now you go girl, that is one fantastic looking bowl. Talking of finishes I use OB Juice also. I like it very much. For myself I use different finishes for different items of wood. Just yesterday I used two coats of OB and over that I used Mylands Friction Polish. I am not pushing any product as I do not receive anything for suggesting it. This is just my opinion. But Mylands does give a very nice luster and a mirror finish. Hut Friction polish also gives a great shine which I use also. That draw back is the cost which is way to expensive for my budget, of a Champagne taste with a Beer budget. I altered my OBJ recipe by and increasing the amount of shellac and see a better shine. So play with your recipe for sanding paste, OBJ and anything else you never know when you will hit upon one that will out perform all others. Oh yes make yourself some knee skirts to protect your feet, your boots are made for walking and that's just what they'll do, one of these days, those boots may walk you to the Mall. Lol :) God Bless
Thanks ED!! I will do that (play around with my OB) .
Mrs. Tippin,
Thank you! I have already sent a email to moonpie And I plan on reaching out to pull bar Productions, and durka heritage. You are the reason I bought a wood lathe. I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH!!!
Tried your shine juice formula of 60-30-10, and your right, it does build better and shines better, a little wax on top of it, wow
Happy to hear that!!
Stunning work. I would like a finishing shot a tid bit longer. Absolutely beautiful work. Just wat to appreciate it a little more. 🐢
I love your work, tool control, and the music!!!!
Beautiful. I learn something today
BAREFOOT??? Ma'am, safety is paramount for everyone!
Yes!! I AGREE !! PLEASE DO NOT TURN BARE FOOT!!
Kim, beautiful work. I enjoy watching you work.
Thank you so much 🤗
Really nice shape and fantastic finished piece
Happy New Year Kim
Fantastic and stunningly beautiful magnificent and spectacular
Turned out really Nice Kim, Ma Wife would of flipped out with that June bug coming in like that. LOL
Thanks Doug!!!
Yeah, I don't mind them until they start flying at my face...then I break out the electric fly swatter .. lol
Kim, I’ve noticed that you mention your home made sanding paste. Can you share how you make it? It seems to work really well. Thanks!
Thanks ! here is a link to my video. ua-cam.com/video/OixRuX7PY7Q/v-deo.html
How do you price a piece like that? Anyone? I've been told that I charge way to low for my work
What is the shine juice formula? Thanks Kim! Love watching you. You have given me so many great ideas. Is your Laguana lathe working out ok?
Thank you so much 🤗
equal parts Boiled Linseed Oil, Denatured Alcohol and Shellac.
Nice work but I wore out the volume control on my speakers
sorry :(
@@KimTippin You and Doug are the only ones I care to listen to. Consider it flattery
This is the first video of yours I "stumbled across". New subscriber too. Beautiful wood and the finish is superb. I have used car wax a couple of times with good results. Your tip on buying eyeshadows is brilliant. First I've heard of that usage. Looking forward to binge watching your video library now.
Beautiful! Please wear shoes in the shop, a skew going down long point first can cause a lot of damage to your feet.
lok
Pablo, I wasnt turning with no shoes. I only sanded for a few minutes. thank you for your concern. 😉🤗😁
@White Marlin You made me spit my coffee out!!! lol lol🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Beautiful bowl. Very nice work. Thanks.
I really ]your videos and your explantions as you work. Your supply lists are awsome as well. I wonder if you would give the rough dimensions or size of the project at the end or sometime. It is really hard to judge size from youtube. Anyway, keep it up !!
That is a good idea! I will try to edit a photo at the end with the measurements. THANK YOU!!!
The bowl is amazing. The bronze and gold mica powder really did the trick in the crack
Thank You!
I love all of your videos and your voice is angelic. But in trying to hear what you're saying I have the volume cranked up and the musical interludes are so loud that they knock me out if my chair! Just a suggestion when editing. Keeping the decibels consistent would be much more enjoyable for your fans. And thanks for your bold testimony on your headstock!
Thank you 🤗🤗 I am sorry about that. I think I fixed all the newer videos. It is very hard to tell the difference while I am editing. Thank you for pointing that out. :)
I think you have to tune your machine--it is shaking all around, it shouldn't do that.
I love the look you gave the bowl; it carries out the 2 Cor 5:17 reference of giving new life to old. I was also thinking of Romans 8:21 about the potter having control over the clay, just before you mentioned looking at pottery forms. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Douglas!
Yeah, I had considered that verse and many others as well, but after much prayer 2 cor 5:17 was HIS choice.
This verse also speaks so much to me and touches those heart issues that only HE can touch. It is a thankfulness and a reminder. To HIM be the honor and glory!
I really like what you did with that bowl. Awesome grain! I did get a little tired of turning down the volume on the music to save my hearing, then having to turn it up to hear your voice. Thumbs up on the video.
Thank you, Jerry. I thought I fixed the volume problem 🤔 Sorry about that. I guess I better keep working on leveling that out.
In order to hear you, I have to raise the volume, then the irritating tinny "music" blasts out of my phone. Ugh! Experience ruined!
Music so loud I had to turn the sound down really low. Then I could barely hear you. Very irritating. Video was great as usual.
Love it your truly amazing. And you must wear those boots to catch the sawdust for falling on the shop floor
yes!! helps with the clean up ;)
Hi Kim - I too love your favourate verse 2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
"Beautiful"
That's a purdy bowl!
It is very restful watching your artistry. Please do not shorten the sanding too much. The time shows.
Please carry on.
I'm wowed again by the spalting in that oak -- it's beautiful. It's a great form too. You're dead on target about studying pottery forms. I have quite a number of pottery books, even though I've only walked past a potter's wheel maybe twice :-) Clyde
Blimey, there are some right moany bastards on your comments section! It's not very encouraging and that sort of "constructive" criticism can really dent a person's confidence. It's no wonder you are expecting people to criticise your hammering, chainsaw work, etc. There are so many fake experts on UA-cam who think they're clever because they know five facts and it makes them feel better if they can pull you up on something. I'll keep the British cursing to a minimum, but they really do need to get fucked with all that nonsense. The bowl was superb - lovely form, beautiful wood, nicely finished. I enjoyed this video because there was more of you talking, and you have a really nice voice. I understand why you add the music, but more of you would be better. I love to hear about process and why people do things the way that they do. I think that's common for woodworkers in general - it's a very right-brained process oriented hobby.
Absolutely awesome piece. It’s a real pleasure watching you work. Thank You for sharing.
It appears that your chuck is working very well. It looks nice and smooth spinning. Nice job and looks great.
Great job, Kim! I especially liked the way you handled the void in the bottom of the bowl. Where was your “security guard” (ie your cat) today? He sure would have kept out your “intruder.” 😸. Which of the EasyWood tools did you use for hollowing that bowl? I wasn’t too crazy about the music; it got in the way of my trying to concentrate on what you were doing; but I guess that’s why some people buy Fords and others buy Chevrolets, eh? . 😎
Trabalho perfeito muito bom 👏👏👏
Now you’re talking! So well done and we could follow u along as we watch what you’re doing. Beautiful form on the bowl. I’m sure this will be a keeper! Loved the video.
Stunning Wood, Stunning Spalting, Stunning Form, Stunning Finish.... so overall Stunning..thanks for sharing
Thank you so much 🤗
Lovely piece Kim. Simple but elegant. Glad your problems with the lathe are sorted. Keep up the great work.
As I have told you before, I love me some spalted wood. Early in the video you suggested looking at pottery online, that is key because as the piece ages the distinctiveness of the wood fades and the shape, ah, the shape is what counts. I'm all the about the shape of the vessel and this one is very attractive. Well done.
Beautiful piece.
I also use all my old eyeshadow for colour pigments with expoxy..its a great idea and fun too.
Beautiful bowl. Great idea with using Auto Wax. I have used it on my last project on a bowl I finished with High Gloss Lacquer. Polished it to a glass like shine. I have also used a fine buffing compound by Turtle Wax too. Had great results.
I also made the sanding paste you make, but I made mine with a very fine pumice that you would use in a rock tumbling machine to finish polish stones. It is around 3000 grit. Worked great too.
I got to get me some of that pumice. I want to try it. Thanks for sharing that! I think Harbor Freight may carry the pumice because they do sell the rock tumbler... hmmm Great, now I am gonna bring home more tools!!! lol
Another beautiful work of art. It pays to save and not toss things out. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for sharing.
Turned out so nice. Beautyfull work. Even if you think it might should get fire wood....
I do believe that is the prettiest bowl I have seen. You did one amazing job! Thanks for sharing .
Great job, sometimes you just have to put aside what isnt working at the time, then when you come back to it with fresh eyes amazing things can happen :)
Absolutely! I love it when that happens. Thank you Shannon!
I enjoy watching you work on your projects and am looking forward to the day that I an put what I learn to use. Bless you
@@shannonchaplin5248 God bless you sister!! I will pray it will be so. Thank you🤗🤗
Great job Kim! Sorta fits the theme of the Bible verse you have on your lathe. That grain is amazing too and look you now with over 1,100 subs!! When I subscribed last week you were at 178. Keep up the great work and love your humble, self-effacing style. Stuart :-)
I am beyond humbled!! WOW!! God is GOOD!
Great piece, well done 👍🏻 Finish looks amazing
Kim, I enjoy watching your videos, but the music is just too annoying. Beautiful piece.
I didn't mind the music so much as the variation in volume. When you narrated, I had to turn the volume up but once you stopped, I had to turn it down or be blasted out. Maybe its just my laptop or maybe the settings change when it gets published.
@@STMwoodturning , No It was my editing error... It sounded normal when I edited it but after the upload it got crazy!! I am SO SO SORRY!! I will get the kinks out soon,,, I HOPE! Thank you for your patients!
Very nice Kim!! I have the same lathe as you and my live center also wobbles, your videos are awesome!!
Thanks!! yeah, I have heard from several viewers that their's is doing the same. :( I just use my old live center. Stinks I can not use the BRAND NEW one. :/
Picked up me first wood lathe up today, can't do stone masonry any more due to hand arm syndrome, to much drilling, cutting and banging, love how you use natural wood a lot, B E A utiful Bowl Kim. Am moving into the forest to get away from Earthlings and Covid 19-84. I'll have me first bowl on u tube within the week. God Bless .
Sorry to hear about your arm! Praying for you.
I am excited for your new journey.
God bless!
Thank you 😊
Kim that is a really beautiful bowl. Love the way you describe how it got the best of you so you put it away only to come back later and conquer it. Bravo to you for sticking to it and completing a great looking bowl. Also tha is for sharing about the stuff you out in the resin and how it's the same thing as in the makeup, gonna be stealing some from my wife and daughters. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!!! lol you better make sure its the cheap stuff lol
Great job Kim, absolutely beautiful! .......new subscriber.
I wish more women had wood turning channels. I would never think of using make-up to tint resin. The spalted oak pieces you've been making are gorgeous. Thanks! Keep 'em coming!
We are out here. Just need to hunt for us. ;)
Love that you use every day items and less expensive stuff for finishing. Beautiful pieces. I’m also a Florida turner, up by Gainesville. Keep up the great work. Love the videos.
Howdy neighbor!!!
Thank you 🤗🤗
Hi Kim. I just reasently found found your UA-cam videos. I love your work .It has given me some great ideas. I have only been turning about 2 years and have made some really great pieces but none as beautiful as yours. I am trying to use resin my first 3 try were disasters. But after watching you work it has given the thought that I can fix the resin bowls that didn't come out right
Thank you so much
Thank you so much 🤗🤗🤗
Looks mighty beautiful! I love that you combine more natural elements (wood + metallic) because it looks so earthy that way. When I saw you using makeup, I told my husband who was watching this video with me that he'd better not even think of it bwahahaha!!! (getting into my eye shadows). Thank you for sharing your talents and projects with us
Thank you!!! Yeah, I fear many husbands are gonna be blamed for missing eye shadow lol
Makeup with epoxy resin I didn't know that brilliant learnt something new XX nice wood brilliant bowl be safe, ps playing catchup on video's X
Thank you, George 🤗🤗
Hooooray..... finally seen a piece turned on the re-jigged lathe. Lovely piece of wood and the shape is just a bit special. I'm away to check out pottery.... :) :) :)
Thank you 🤗🤗
Very nice piece Kim. I can't help but mention that you could possible lower the amount of vibration that I saw on your lathe if you would move the quill back into the tail stock thus allowing the tail stock to be moved closer to your work.
Thanks!
My tool rest holder (the part that holds the tool rest to the banjo) has weird spot that sticks out so I can not get the TS too close to my banjo. It is hard to explain. I get it as close as I can. Drives me nuts. Horrible design!
That's a really beautiful bowl, Kim! Glad you were able to save it. Also glad you have all your lathe and chuck problems worked out.
Thank you!
Very beautiful! A woman is a woman. What is interesting about you, so it's non-standard solutions-epoxy paint shadows for makeup. I'll know the way. Thank you!
Thank You Ivan!! 🤗
The looks I get when I buy ultra fine glitter for rod building, I can just imagine the looks I'd get buying eye shadow. Ha!!!
Beautiful bowl Kim. Great finish.
Lol.
Beautiful. It's neat how rotting, fungusy wood can make such nice patterning, and make it look so neat... I love watching you turn the wood, sand it, and polish it... 👍
Thank you!
Awesome what you took that block of wood to . thanks for sharing
Love the shape...Very pleasing to the eye...Yhank's
Great project Kim and good work, but don't your boots get filled with wood chips and sawdust?
Yes!! lol I don't mind it apperently lol
Enjoyed and gave a Thumbs Up
Beautiful piece!..glad I stumbled on your channel...total bummer on all your lathe issues!
Thanks!!
Precioso y una madera muy muy Bonita enorabuena 👍🇪🇸
Beautiful bowl Kim, and a pleasure to watch a lady turning for once. Thank you for sharing your video 😊
Thanks Denis! You're welcome!
Madame, das ist wirklich eine ausgezeichnete Arbeit!
Bewundernswert!
Wonderful watching you turn and listening to you explain each step and process. Thank you.
Thank you for watching, Chris!!
WOW Beautiful bowl. Love the shape! Happy that piece didn't turn into firewood.
Mee too!! Thank you!! 🤗🤗
Darn lady you do some beautiful work. I get a lot of ideas from watching your video so please keep it up. God bless to you and yours.
Thank you so much, David!! 🤗
Absolutely beautiful bowl, spectacular piece of wood. You did a fantastic job. Lovely shape also.
Thank you so much Tom!🤗
It's a good thing you decided to complete this bowl. It looks amazing!
Thanks Ted!!
Sei brava😍
Very beautiful piece, you crack me up, boots, barefooted flip flops. 👍🇺🇸
Thanks!!
Yeah, drives my husband nuts LOL he's constantly reminding me to put appropriate footwear on. 😎🤣🙄🤗😅👢
miss kim really enjoy ur videos just finished binge watching keep up the good work !!
Thank you Bryan!
Beautiful bowl...I love the shape!
Wonderful shape and love the thin walls and attention to finish
Kim, I think I suffer same malady as you,,,lack of patience. It gets me in trouble all the time. Your work turns out so great. You have found a way to control your impatience. Care to share your method? Rick Barke... also where do you get your most favorite bowl gouge from? Thank you.
Thank you so much 🤗
I realized patience, much like everything else, is achieved with practice. Everything requires a level of patience. Once you realize you are less patient with a certain task, you work on it. Like muscles at the gym. 😁 That is my experience, anyway. 🤷♀️
My gouge is a Carter and Son 5/8 bowl gouge. I ground it to an Irish grind. 🤗☺
Thanks Kim.
The old creation has passed away and behold this thing has become new. Very nice!!!
AMEN!
I've got to get me some spalted oak, love that grain, lovely job Kim. Love the turning and love your voice over but hate the volume of the music. I'm new to your channel and am hopping for some more info about that shine juice? How often do you sharpen your gouges?
Sorry about the music... I am better at turning than editing lol clearly!! :/ I will be sure to fix that in the future. Thank you so much ! As for the OB shine juice, I got my recipe from Cap'n Eddie Castelin
ua-cam.com/video/taJbBmcaAZQ/v-deo.html I sharpen as my tool starts to not cut as smooth or I feel resistance in the cut. Depends on the wood as to how often.
Kim Tippin Wood Turning. Hi ho Kim thanks for replying, I suppose it's all in your own personal feel for your tools and their cut in the wood your using, please do me a favour and put some foot protection on (the 3 toed wood turner isn't a flattering monicker) although here in England we do have the naked chief. I too have a lot of glitter (for the kinder garden in my parish), I use watercolour paints that I rub on sandpaper to get what I want. May God keep you and your feet safe.
Очень красиво! Женщина есть женщина. Что в вас интересного, так это нестандартные решения - окраска эпоксидки тенями для макияжа. Буду знать способ. Спасибо!
Добро пожаловать! Спасибо Иван!
Very nice job, great shape.
Thanks. Really nice work! Great job on your videos.
Thank you Jim
