I'm going on a trip to Japan in october, and I'll also be staying with a host family. You have given me a really positive image of the experience, and I'm really looking forward to it. Thank you
Sakura Cosmos My highschool is classified as an "Asian Hub" school. It has sister schools in Jinan and Tokyo, which exchanges students between my school and schools in those areas. So I put my name down for that. While the students that come from China and Japan are ranged from 13-16 years old, the students that go from my school are around 15.
Thanks for sharing. I always wondered what it looked like inside a Japanese school while they were teaching. you were lucky to have this exchange experience!
I only just discovered this channel and it's awesome. I love the fact that your Australian because it seemed that all you tubers were American. I have been looking for a video like this cause I want to go to Japan so bad so thanks.
so cute ! i remember when i had a exchange in japan, in the group photo all the guys would stand on one side and all girls on the other, and the guys side would be a lot of people haha so cute, and the lunch was so nice.
this vid would be a great introduction to those who are interested in how japanese high school operates and all:) i truly hope you had a blast here in Japan, girl:)
This reminds me when I was in middle school and we had Japanese exchange, I talked with these girls and one of them showed me the screensaver on her phone, this reallyy good looking Japanese guy with awesome hair, and I said 'Wow he's hot!!' (they giggle) then I said 'Your boyfriend?!?' And the girls laughed soo much I was like whhatt did I say wrong? And when they recovered themselves enough, they said 'No, he rock idol!!' hahaha always remember that n___n I wish I'd had the amount of appreciation for Japan back then as I do now, I would've got so much out of the opportunity for exhange. GAH whyy is my life back-to-front.
wow, my only guess as to why they would be different to say Korean or Japanese is that they are way more closed off from the west and therefore not as 'interested' or 'attuned' to western things/people..but thats just a guess ;s I dare not speak for the nation as a whole either ;P
stefannia walker chinese people can be found everywhere xDD (im half chinese) sorry if chinese people can come off really rude lol. chinese culture is REALLY diverse and north chinese and south chinese people can be very different
i move 2 japan when i was 3rd grade. its been 3 years now cause im now a 5th grader . YEY! and my first experience is they dont't bully me and they teach me how to speak.but im a half japanese now cause my steph-dad is japanese... :) 楽しいかたった!めっちゃ!
Oh cool! My school had that as well, where we stay in our classes and the teachers come to us. I actually have been missing it ever since starting high school.
kimdao i am actually going to japan for two weeks with a homestay for 3 days at a private high school/college in japan too! and also after the 3 days, I will spend 2 days on the weekend with my host family. I am also going with my high school and with a group and we also did an exchange at my high school with their high school. Thank you for this video! I'm glad to have the same experience as you at high school also ^ ^
It's just an exchange program. They're actually quite common, and the respective schools will arrange for this themselves. They will know who's coming and whatnot.
Thanks for sharing your experience! One of my dream places to go and visit is Japan and I always wondered if their schools were similar to the ones in anime. Thank you again for sharing your experience! =)
KIMMMM might be a long shot but how did u go on exchange to a high school as a uni student? I go to the same uni as you did btw and things might’ve changed but we only have exchange programs to unis in japan, not high school. it’s for a semester so you need at least 10 grand lmao which I don’t have 😂
@Bupalumpa eso demuestra que Japón es una nación llena de paz y amor!!!!sorry when i read english i understand but is dificult to say what i have in mind...I wanted to say that doing that, they demostrate that they are a peaceful nation and full of love.we need to be more like them..sorry if I am not writing well...
can you plz answer my question! So did you attend the highschool for 2 weeks without like having hw? and were u actually a highschooler in 2011 (sorry i just found u on utube) and were the students happy to have u as a visitor (and did u get a loy of attention)? thx♡
I'm in the UK too! It looks like our schools are the same in a way because nobody in my classes care for anything. I will also be going into year 11 this September and I was recently talking to Rotary about an exchange programme to Japan. But, it turns out that the Government don't let us out of the EU unfortunately.
@Bupalumpa Apparently they've been left in the 80's America. All of them, well mostly girls do that sign when you take pics or videos of them. I really don't know why either.
I also experienced exchange to Sydney, Australia last summer! It was irreplaceable experience for me. So I know what you want to say in this video well.
i really enjoyed watching this video! (: i've been learning japanese for a while now, and now i'm considering on doing a homestay anytime in the future... this was very helpful, thanks! oh, and pleaaase upload the cooking video. :P
森内えり i'm in Sweden too and it's so fun that Felix(pewdiepie) is from Sweden but I WANT TO LEARN JAPANESE!!!!!!!!(I'm working on it ^^) watashi wa kotto nihongo de shimasu ^^(I think I said that right ■_■|||)
People do that here in the U.S. Last school year 3 of my friends hosted Japanese students for 2 weeks. You should try to get an exchange program started :D
the math looks something to do with indexes and logarithm...and i enjoy this video too ^^ good luck next time..your japanese pretty good i can say since i watch alot of animes non-stop
Nice, I really want to experience an exchange program but i think it's very rare. I really wanted to go and experience how school life is there it's so similar to my previous school life at my home country, i miss wearing uniforms. LOL and bless the teachers :D at my school, when i only rest my head on my arms they yell at me.
they are so well behaved in class! definatly a difference from aussie schools, i was such a little shit in class and used to get in trouble a lot but nothing big, like the biggest punishment they ever gave me was throwing me out of class but i didn't really see the punishment in it lol i don't remember a lot of students who didn't act up in every class they were in!
Hi Kim, I was wondering if Asian people differentiate between countries and if you felt welcomed initially? Were you asked more about Australia or your heritage?
Can you tell me what exchange program did you use because you look like your over 18 years old and I want to be in a class with teens cause I'm want to go to school there at 18. I really really want to know of what program did you use thanks.
You know for us Americans, the tv shows on DisneyChannel, Nickelodean and other movies about high school are very spot on. They represent the hierarchy within us students very well. So I can understand why anime is so similar to real life, cause it portrays it! :)
thank you so much I LUV JAPANESE SCHOOLS cause the schools are very clean and it looks like if i went there it would be a wonderful experience aligato gozamasu
Well, I am now considering to try in Uni after my GCSE's. Hopefully, I do get some good results. Also, if I am unable to go in Uni, I will possibly move there when I'm 20.
oo have fun in Canberra :) when i said record, i meant actually recording it on ur video camera and posting it on youtube :P but i guess writing a diary is great too :) ^^ hv fun
Ah dude that sucks, I thought they might of let us over to there. But like no joke dude, knuckle down in this year, I didn't get proper lessons, and half of my teachers were nether here, then I had to work over time on weekends and stuff, so work as hard as you can and get them grades :D
i need to pay for the plane ticket aaaand.... the entrance fees for some places~ but not for accommodation~ I'm going as an exchange student in december! but only for 2 weeks ;A; december seems to far away... -sobs- have fun in japan~ ^^
Kim!! My sis really love to experience studying & living in Japan. I would like to know how & where did u do your student exchange even you just in High school?
damn... i remember going to school in japan 6 years ago. i was only in elementary school. if i stayed with my grandparents there, i wouldve been in my last year of junior high
Rather than the fact you have to stay in the same class at school I'd be amazed by the fact SO MANY STUDENTS actually stay in one class!xD(which is normal for me, here in Italy the teachers are the ones who change, but your class is one and the same...you come to love that room so much I couldn't imagine anything like going around the school every hour...so bothersome!)
I'm going on a trip to Japan in october, and I'll also be staying with a host family. You have given me a really positive image of the experience, and I'm really looking forward to it. Thank you
Its so funny how language affects behavior. You were bowing when you were speaking Japanese.
Not when you were speaking English. So interesting!!
I'm doing a school trip next year to Japan. I'm attending a highschool there for half the trip, and sightseeing for the other half ^-^
***** Australia isn't that far from Asia, so the flight to Japan isn't so long
i want to do that!
what website did you apply for it?
Sakura Cosmos My highschool is classified as an "Asian Hub" school. It has sister schools in Jinan and Tokyo, which exchanges students between my school and schools in those areas. So I put my name down for that. While the students that come from China and Japan are ranged from 13-16 years old, the students that go from my school are around 15.
Lucky!!!

Lana Croft we had Chinese exchange and the weren't as friendly and I had to use google translate to even ask if I could borrow a pencil.
wow, my only guess as to why they would be different to say Korean or Japanese is that they are way more closed off from the west and therefore not as 'interested' or 'attuned' to western things/people..but thats just a guess ;s I dare not speak for the nation as a whole either ;P
Lana Croft who was the guy?

i move 2 japan when i was 3rd grade. its been 3 years now cause im now a 5th grader . YEY! and my first experience is they dont't bully me and they teach me how to speak.but im a half japanese now cause my steph-dad is japanese...

I'm in the UK too! It looks like our schools are the same in a way because nobody in my classes care for anything.
I will also be going into year 11 this September and I was recently talking to Rotary about an exchange programme to Japan. But, it turns out that the Government don't let us out of the EU unfortunately.
Now when I'm going to High school I'll tell my parents to let me go to one in japan!! I hope they will let me
your japanese is pretty good it's got good flow from one word to the next. homestay programs are so fun. ^-^
@Bupalumpa Apparently they've been left in the 80's America. All of them, well mostly girls do that sign when you take pics or videos of them. I really don't know why either.
i dont know if its just me, but I just cant stop smiling while I listen to her speak reading the subtitles, this .... is 2x better than anime :D
I also experienced exchange to Sydney, Australia last summer!
It was irreplaceable experience for me.
So I know what you want to say in this video well.

i'm going to bring a travel diary!~~~
Honestly, your Japanese is so good! :)
Hi Kim, I was wondering if Asian people differentiate between countries and if you felt welcomed initially? Were you asked more about Australia or your heritage?
As an Asian American living in Japan now, I can say for sure that most look so confused whenever I said I came from America. So.. Yeah
i live in australia and i have some Japanese friends and their mums pack their food soo awesomely and it looks soo cute same in the video :)
Can you tell me what exchange program did you use because you look like your over 18 years old and I want to be in a class with teens cause I'm want to go to school there at 18. I really really want to know of what program did you use thanks.
yup! they come to your country for a while and then in return, you stay at their home! usually you don't have to pay ^^
also after the homestay, my high school group that were hosted also by japanese host families will go sightseeing around japan, :)
You know for us Americans, the tv shows on DisneyChannel, Nickelodean and other movies about high school are very spot on. They represent the hierarchy within us students very well. So I can understand why anime is so similar to real life, cause it portrays it! :)

I am so god damn jealous, Japan looks amazing.

Iv always wanted to experience school in Japan, it looks more fun than school in Australia in some ways. Im 22 now so i wont be able to do it tho.
You could always just visit Japan for a while, or even study (college level) there.
thanks for your video. i found your video very enlightening, and your Japanese is very right on! gambate!
In my school at the middle east we also stay in class and the teachers change we have 45 minutes for one class we don't have cooking class so sad...
Hey! Kim, where do you currently stay in Australia, i am also living in Australia right now ^^
your accent is so adorable!!...im sorry i just had to say that
I am going to Japan too for 2 weeks next year , i will be turning 16 next year and i hope i can visit the high school too (owo) :3
Do it all in one channel!
In animes that take place in High School, its almost as if there are hardly ever any adults present in the school lol.
