Lots of surprises within this wonderful concert: Lara's theme, two known songs from John Fogerty's interpretations and finally a classic rock n roll. Magnificent.
Wery nice ans "happy" to hear Allen Shelton on banjo and (his favorite instrument) the dobro-banjo during this concert. Nice guy and friend of mine since Frankfurt/Germany in the backstage room during two hours...JO (France)

This is 1987, not 1989. Jimmy Campbell started with them in 1987, and by 1989, Vic Jordan would’ve been playing banjo. Also, by 1989, Keith would’ve had the bass on a stand due to his MS.
Thanks for posting this video! Jim and jesse mcreynolds are bluegrass legends. Thankfully, jesse mcreynolds is still a living legend. If you have any information about jesse mcreynolds mandolin style and tuning, I would really appreciate the information. I am an experienced guitarist, and have recently took up the mandolin. I would really love to learn the mcreynolds mandolin tuning and style. Jesse mcreynolds is one of my favorite mandolin stylists!
Russel thank for the comment. I run the Jim & Jesse facebook group. If you are on Facebook look for Jim & Jesse - Bluegrass Legends and you'll find a wealth of information.
read this fast, it will be deleted fast (along with your comment)...Jesse's "tuning" is done with his left pinky-fingernail on ONE of the A or D strings, while another finger plays a lower note...this is nearly impossible to do without muting other strings...
Thank you for the videos of Jim & Jesse and the Virginia Boys, and especially of my dear sweet husband Jesse who passed away on June of 2023. God bless you.
Jim and Jesse, the Louvin Brothers provide great harmonies. Five stars.
So sad that I was born in 2005 and will never be able to see them live…
@singlemalt1107 I wish you a very long, happy life, filled with wonderful bluegrass music by your favorite groups, and singers.

Glad you enjoyed the set!
The great Jimmy Campbell..fiddle player. Rip.
Fantastic! Thanks for posting. Jim was a real trooper dealing with a guitar that was a little less than cooperative.

No, that is Jimmy Campbell on the fiddle.
Did you notice Jim broke a string on Blue Ridge Mountain Blues?
