If there ever was a million-dollar video This Is It
Thanks for the kind words :)
When music was good and people had fun.
Saw these guys in 1984 or 85 in Pacolet, SC with the Lewis Family. Little Roy Lewis and Sonny picked on each other throughout the show. While the Bros. were playing Little Roy grabbed an Osborne Bros album, handed it to me and Sonny got "mad", chased Little Roy off stage. Don't remember if it was Sonny or Bobby that called the bass player Moses. This guy had long hair and there were several jokes made about his hair that night. It was a great show even after riding in the back seat of a 1973 Mach One Mustang for 2.5 hrs. I am 6'2 and my back aged 10 years after that ride.
Glad this moment was captured on video ❤
Thanks Bobby and Sonny for the memories and great music that will live forever!!!!! R.I.P. my HEROES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My brother and I would do the same, I would wander off playing some other song, and after we finished our set, he would ask me "what were you playing" and I would say I don't know, but it sounded good, and the beauty of it was that he would just keep right up with me, playing rhythm guitar while I played lead, brotherly instinct I guess, ???
Knowing Sonny, I'd put money on the "mistake" was intentional. If you ever had the opportunity to be around Sonny, especially if Little Roy Lewis was around, there were things like this going on constantly. Miss you Sonny!
Lucky you and thank you for sharing that story I I suspected what you just said because he just plays with so much joy and he laughs so much obviously got a great sense of humor I would've loved to met him even just once
I think that everything the Osborne brothers did they did an awesome job, even when they mess up it’s still great. Sure miss Sonny.
Watching Sonny laugh is worth the price of admission. Besides having enjoyed watching them play many times, I had some bluegrass business dealings with Sonny. He was an incredible stand-up guy to deal with. A real first-class human being.
This is Christy..Mrs. Greg...I grew up listening to the Osborne Brothers and one of the 1st songs I ever sang with my dad was Rocky Top! He played this one too with the rest of the Bluegrass pickers in his band...You Are My Flower...we finally met the Osbornes at the Bean Blossom Fest. In the 80's! I'm 64 now and you're still great!!!!!
I just Love it 😊😊😊
You are my Flower, wildflower, Jimmy Brown, Martha white flower! Soooo funny! What entertainment 😊
True Entertainers!
Nobody sings like Bobby ! Family harmony is the best!
I have not come across any goof up that you accept as gratefully as here.
This was always a part of You Are My Flower. Whatever Sonny played, Bobby would sing. This little part was always a crowd favorite.
Have watched this numerous times and it's a joy to see professionals as themselves.
I love this! Not just the chance to hear Sonny pick the guitar great, but also to see the brothers having fun and not getting all bothered cause they messed up. In fact, the "mess up" allowed them to take off from there with a bunch of funny stuff. Purely natural. Thanks for posting.
They didn't "mess up" -- this was the way they performed it many times. Funny if seeing it for the first time or two !
@@svs1481 Oh o.k., sorry about that. The only time I saw them live that I recall was 1963 at Thunder Road race track, Barre VT - just Sonny, Bobby and Benny Birchfield - no bass. They were totally great. Might have seen them at Indian Ranch, Webster MA or one of the early Berkshire NY fests - just can't recall right now. The 1963 is so memorable cause it was the first show I'd ever seen with a pro bluegrass band. And...Sonny...RIP....one of the true great.
I saw them in Granite Falls N.C. early 70's..they put on a great show...Sonny broke a string on his banjo mid ways in a song they were performing.....pulled one from his coat pocket...restrung and joined back in on the song before it ended...!!
Without the element of humour bluegrass just isn't the same.
That's what makes these guys and people like Rhonda Vincent so good.
It's about more than virtuosity
This is hilarious!!! Thank you to whoever posted it!
This video is from the video vault archives of The Bluegrass Bus Museum.
Thank you
Love the Osborne Brothers
That was a show worth seeing. Loved these guys all my life.
BTW I never knew Sonny could play guitar like that. That was amazing.
Scruggs played guitar as well and Bill Monroe
Dave Dennis only just appreciated the last few days(inexplicably) what a beautiful sound these boys make. One of the best bluegrass bands I've heard, new or old.
Now I'll have to go back and listen to Maybelle though.
And Sara
Don Reno was reportedly a great guitar player too.
Great stuff
This is gold! Love it.
Amazing vocal range demonstrated by Bobby Osborne--the lower register of his voice is something rarely heard...what an amazing singer!
Bobby started out as a kid trying to sing like Ernest Tubb.
Örökre a legnagyobbak! ❤ From Hungary.
Rest in peace sonny
That is hilarious! Love times like this.
I just came across this an it is really great. They were so good even in their screw ups. Wish we had country like this today.
Absolutely priceless that's why they're the best of the best .
Absolutely the Best 👍 God, I miss them ❤️ My Dear Friends 🙏💗❤️
It got funnier when Little Roy Lewis was at the same show as them. What a great bunch.
Hilarious! That was great!
This is the BEST!! Love to see these things that make performers think on their feet. SO FUNNY! Sonny couldn’t stop laughing! 🎶🎶🎶❤️❤️❤️
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT
You gotta love these guys
That was funny. They were a great bunch!
Love the Osborne brothers and this style of music.
Me Too ❤️😅
still great!
Got to love it !!!! That’s sooo funny
Love it. Same tune.
LOVE THIS..
Glad you enjoyed this video Brenda :)
Sonny could sure pick that guitar!
Absolutely Agree 💯👍💯
Fun! Sonny the instigator!
Too funny, great stage presence !
Great song, no matter what they're singing - never heard Sonny play guitar until now.
That was SO much fun you guys! And some terrific guitar playing by Sonny! Oh my goodness he will be missed 😥
Did he die
@@swordthrower2035 He died from a stroke on October 24, 2021, at the age of 83.
Love this so funny
I've watched this 50 times, and 50 times I laugh until I have tears! What showmen. Sonny knew that they're was a problem about 2:03. And I really do understand the confusion. It does kind of sound like Jimmy Brown... and Sonny on the guitar just sounds wonderful! Sonny could play a cigar box with strings and make it sound good! At 5:12, that is just hilarious!
Tremendous😂😂😅😅😂😂
Thanks, tell a friend to tune in!
Boy, I needed that laugh tonight !!! Thanks. Hey Sonny plays a great guitar even if it is the wrong song >
Nice
I would have loved to see Bill Monroe’s face if the guitar player had done that while he was singing!😂 he would have thrown him into the crowd! lol
He's done that in other performancess- played different tunes in a break. Maybe not a goof up - just brothers goofing around.
Sonny has always been the instigator trying to mess bobby up. Lmao
He always has that expression on his face like he's just thought of a joke
@@velvetunderpants44 i got to see them live many years ago. Sonny has the best sense of humor of anyone ive ever met. If he can find a way to get something on bobby he will do it. He was one of my inspirations of learning to play banjo too. Hes one of the best pickers out there. I hope he's enjoying his retirement . Wonderful man.
Bobby changes up @ 1:57.
Sometimes a mistake just shows us how human they are...good video
If you've ever listen to Dean Osborne bluegrass show on wsgs radio in hazard Kentucky he lets you know he messes up all the time 😆
👍👍🇨🇦
Even the very best make mistakes. Lol
I don’t get it..
Sonny was messing with his brother!
He is playing "You are my flower," and guitar player suddenly starts picking "Jimmy Brown the newsboy" as they sound similar, so without batting an eye, the singer switches to that one. Then the guitar player purposely goes into Wildwood flower...
