A few years ago I had a vehicle for sale. I got a call from some guy, said he had the money and was ready to buy. He wanted to test drive it to his wife’s work about five miles away. When we past the gas station she supposedly worked at, he kept saying one more block. This went on for about five blocks. Till he finally pulled over and said, if you don’t trust me you can drive. He got out of the car with the engine running. He thought I was going to exit through the passenger side, he would jump in and leave. Instead I slid over to drivers side and said ok bye. The look on his face was priceless. I left him there and laughed all the way back.
crispyspa I’m not a brave man. I’m in my mid fifties and have a bit of boxing skills, but I gotta admit it was weird feeling. The kid was about 25-27 years old. you can always tell they are scammers when they use the word "kindly" such as kindly read these instructions.. I will ship the check and kindly deposit it in your bank. when you do so kindly withdrawal the money and please kindly wire money to nigeria thank you good day.
I had something similar and I led him on for about a week. He sent me a fake check, four times the amount I was asking for my item. So I would go to the bank, tell him I am there and ready to make the deposit, then something would always come up last minute. I'd forget I left some lights on at home, didn't say hi to the neighbor, forgot to flush the toilet, or forgot to rearrange my sock drawer first. I'd leave the bank, and he'd get pissed. Everything would have to be perfect before I could make this deposit comfortably! This went on a few times before he started threatening me. I finally lied and told him I'm a federal agent and now have all his information, then he stopped the threats. If you have the time, always lead these guys on and get them to send you multiple checks if possible. It costs them like $16 every time they send a check, plus you are wasting the time of the person that could be scamming someone else.
Barkeroni Didn't say hi to the neighbor, forgot to flush the toilet, forgot to rearrange sock drawer..... My kind of funny. Good for you. You are such a talented bear.
Barkeroni Dude! Did you check the gas? If I recall correctly, the shampooing instructions said to lather THEN rinse THEN repeat.. did you repeat? If you don't repeat then you won't end up looking like that brunette supermodel! Heck, I'd hold up a meeting if a friend said he wasn't sure that he'd done the repeat. Oh, and brush again after flossing, just to be sure. ;)
Barkeroni FYI, any costs they have the con someone else into paying one way or another. Check sent by UPS? Guess what - they used *someone else's* credit card to pay the shipping costs. And they've usually conned a third party into printing the check, etc. They are greedy and have no scruples, but they are not fools.
Whats the price? $350. I pay you $450 and you send to my bisexual son in the western India because I'm hiking the Appalachian mountain currently won't be back in States for year you send now
This, sir, feels like an insult. Why do we blame our country or specify our country's name for every retarded things these people do? I think we should label them separately and not associate them with anything. They don't deserve the privilege of association, anything they are associated with loses value and position in else's eyes. I, sir, have no idea if you have ever been to India, but these people are hated even here. They don't deserve anything. Live long, brother.
@@ichillalot2938 I believe they pay you with PayPal, and do friends and family so they can undo the payment, but since you already shipped it you cant get the package back. I think that's how it works but I'm not 100%
@@ichillalot2938 , They can pay you with a stolen paypal account, or a fake check. A friend of mine cashed a fraudulent check coming from Hungary and his US bank only alerted him that the check was fake 30 days after the check had cleared. In the meantime, the girl that was supposed to come to the US and move in said her mother had just died and needed her deposit back. So he learned of the fraud long after he had already refunded the girl her money.
Kevin Do bs eh I don't think you need to go to a police station... I've sold stuff on Craigslist outside my apartment, near a bank and near popular areas without issue.
My great-great-great-great-great-great grandad Henry IV, King of France, would like to buy your smartphone. Can you ship it to him? Offering 3,000 piastres for the phone and another 1,000 for the shipping. Will send courier pidgeon with money as soon as it arrives.
doubledown I can wait til you get back in town. Whats your name and spaceship number. Send me a pic of you holding your spaceship license, I want to make sure you are not scamming me :P
+tbc1085 Don't do that dude! A scammer out of nigeria tried to pay my $60 price with a $2500 fake third party cashier's check and then demanded the difference. I tried to send him some dog turds out of my back yard but found out you can get nailed by the postal service for sending hazardous materials. So, I sent him some real nasty porn instead because I knew it would get him in trouble with his local law.
@@XDiZzYX911 but most Craiglist scammers are local. It's just easier to get off the hook appearing to be a foreigner with the police and the excuse not being able meet in person. This is a very common technique all over the globe. It usually ends up being uneducated local that scams the wealthy.
Funny how they try to sucker you by telling you they will pay significantly more than the asking price. I think it's interesting what an imperfect grasp they have of the English language. One thing though. I am NOT a scammer but I don't think I would send a copy of my driver's license to ANYONE.
Maryann Anderson The driver's license is to show that they're legit, and if something happened they can call the police and have the info on the scammer they need to arrest
The humor he gets out of the scammers and the fact he has enough humor in his blood to send those funny msgs back instead of talking madness just earned him a new sub
By the way, is your phone still for sale? I'd like to buy it if it is. I'm going to send it to my dead grandmother who has Parkinson's and stubbed her toe before death. I would like to pay you 50,000 Kenyan Shillings for it (plus shipping of course) which is many Shillings above your asking price. Would you kindly let me know if we have a deal? Thanks.
Damn. I keep looking for this rare guitar and keep finding it states away, but no one is willing to risk shipping it. These scammers are a huge hassle. I may have to make a far ass trip.
Dragon Steel Isn't Paypal one of the most reputable paying methods? i use paypal for almost half of the online stuff i buy. i guess if its not ebay or any large online retailer. its all spam?! i highly doubt that...
They once tried it with me on gumtree in the UK. I was selling a PS4 and they claimed they was on a submarine in the atlantic and needed it asap. They was also willing to pay me £800. I have no clue how they expected it mailing to a submarine. 🤣
EmeraldStarryEyez actually that would be real interesting to see what address they give you You could check it on Google maps..and say. Is it the submarine address? Then show them the street view
@@CrisStan so they hope that the seller accepts the "fake thing" as confirmation of payment instead of waiting for the money to arrive on the paypal account? Thanks for your answer
It's to make the seller take that offer instead of telling them to fuck off. The seller would think "Why would I SHIP and get my money in digital space, have it held for 21 days, and possibly have the funds charged back, and have my account go negative when I could just sell locally and get it in cash?" Then they think "Oh, well I get 150$ extra... I'll do it!"
I thought when somebody paid you through PayPal it would receive the money right away and even if you don't, it's held there and if you have a shipment bill or something that proves you actually shipped the product you keep the money anyway and PayPal go after them...
lot I get these messages all the time when I'm trying to sell my PS3's after I'm bored with them. I'm like "and then closest country to Africa you can find a PS3 in is Canada???"
Nathan Warneke they have entire call centers with hundreds. They are fooling Americans out of thousands daily. Most of these places are very poor. They get paid dollars a day to sit and do this. I'm sure some are just evil. Stealing is never the answer but there is a very human side as well. To fucking eat. lol I watched a documentary about these places this week. I wish I could remember the name so I could post it.
Nathan Warneke youre wrong actually, they only scam stupid people, they do it because it works , its easier than you think to trick some people. thats why the tech support scams are an actual job in india or wherever they most commonly are from.
I never give my number, only email. When I get a scammer I go ahead and take their email and sign them up for tons of annoying daily newsletters. Give them something to do for a few days.
Rob G. not a bed, it's a couch in the basement livingroom. Covered by a bed spread because the flower pattern is just too much to take. LOL. Thanks for watching.
Well, he could have turned off the camera. He could also have used a screen recorder. I am not being mean, I'm just trying to make sure your videos are good because I'm kind. Lol.
Rob G. You could have stopped watching...but actually, we don't have free will so you couldn't have, just like he couldn't have done anything other than what he did.
+Luis John Gemini ..... In today's world you need to be very weary of people. There are so many scammers out there that you can't trust every Tom, Dick & Harry. I didn't question the fact that these people weren't in need of the money, as they most certainly were because they were selling their belongings. They just didn't think. You can't just trust that you are being told the truth.
Yes and they just want money. That's something Giancarloparimango11 doing right now as we speak. I have a playlist featuring videos of his scams if you want to check it out.
+Claire Mahony But that is precisely the problem, you have older, younger and handicapped people who are just too good for this world and believe everything people say because they just CAN'T defend themselves and I'm sick of the people who take advantage of that moment of weakness. (I have autism and ADHD, that means I'm handicapped myself, my luck is is that it is not physically but mentally so I look completely normal but whereas I've learnt of my mistakes and don't trust people that easily anymore others won't ever change because they don't have the power in themselves to be anything other than a all believing person.)
I know, right? Never in my wildest dream what I have ever suspected this video would go viral. 4.4 million views? That's ridiculous. Thanks for watching anyway.
No. A sentence requires a subject and a predicate. "*Would have, you idiot" is lacking of both. That's basically knowledge of 8th grade btw grammar.yourdictionary.com/grammar-rules-and-tips/basic-english-grammar-rules.html
PayPal is the easiest way to scam.... all you have to do is say you sent the money on accident or you didn't send the money and PayPal will give your money back but takeaway some money
Javon Frazier lmao um, that’s called fraud. and you can only do this probably about 2-3, maybe 4 times tops, and then they’ll catch on and you’ll be fucked.
They tried that craps when I was selling my boat. I just kept telling them if you want it you have to pay cash in person. Funny how they were all out of the country
Ruhel Ahmed It's a story to trick people. They could say it's from anywhere out of the country. It would make sense to think that they were from West Africa if this weren't a scammer who is trying to con them. Honest people have no reason to lie but these people are trying to take advantage of others.
doesn't matter where they want the item shipped...it's not about the item, it's about they send a fake check for over the price and ask you to wire the overpayment to them...free cash
@Altair then why are you here, in such an evil country? If you don't like it then you are free to go anywhere else you like. I keep getting calls from Honduras that seem to be a scam, but I don't think their whole country is evil, and a few years ago when I was getting scam calls from Indian people claiming I owed money to the IRS and threatening to send the police to arrest me unless I paid? That didn't make me think India or Indian people are evil. Bur it's not like I forgot it happened. Maybe the UA-camr has some personal experience with someone claiming to be from Bangladesh or calling from that region.
You do realize that all your text messages had no answer because you literally sent them at 1am according to the sms timestamps, while the convos started around noon to late evening. Granted they were pretty much guaranteed to be scammers, but still, even a legit customer wouldnt fuckin reply at 2am to say "ya bro lets hook up tomorrow at the police station". People have lives, and sleep.
+Baleur Yeah, but the scammers are clearly out of the USA, and when its like 1am for us its like afternoon in other countries. Plus...people are awake at 1am lol.
I'll tell you the reason for that comment. My mom had just gotten a smartphone and being a 65 year old woman she was confused as to what all the colors mint on her text messaging and we had just had a conversation about it. I was like Mom... The different colors just make it easy for you to know who is saying what. For being a paralegal for most of her life she sure is confused by the simplest things. LOL. So I just threw that in there for any elderly people that were confused. 😆
samiul Islam sajib lol because it is. They're shaming our country. Apparently we're really poor but honestly? Our brains are much better than theirs and ofc we're making more money 😒
I have scammers ask me for the "final asking price of the item" all the time. I sent back $10,000 USD once as a reply and they confirmed "OK this price is ok for me. What is pay pal email?" Lol they have to be from freaking India or something
NaruBATTLES You *do* realize those stories aren't actually real, right? Seriously, scams are the real things to be wary of, because at least those stories are generally true.
+ramon feliciano you are correct. people should be nice and not feel like because they are not seen they can say whatever unkind thing they want. it is cowardly.
I'm assuming the scam is they pay, you ship, they say you sent them a brick and they get a refund and keep the phone? I don't see any other way that could work out for them.
Joel Foreman No, they get your email then they send you a fake paypal page saying that the payment was received so that you ship the item but because the email was fake paypal is not even aware.
+Joel Foreman From what i've heard they normally use something of the sorts: - Scammer agrees to pay you through paypal and even pays extra to cover the costs, but asks you to send the item to his brother who happens to live somewhere else. - You give him your paypal and he pays you the money. - You ship the item to his "brother" - He files a fraud claim stating that the item was not delivered to his confirmed paypal shipping address and he did not receive the item (Which he of course did but Paypal doesn't know that) - You are unable to prove anything because you most likely didn't use a tracking number nor did you use the shipping address that Paypal can see linked to his account. - Paypal then chargebacks you and you lose the money AND the phone you just sent out which the scammer then happily picks up from his friends house or whatever address he gave you earlier. Another thing they might do is send you a very dodgy email that is supposedly from Paypal saying that the funds they sent are being frozen or put on hold or whatever until you show them proof, i.e a receipt that the item has been shipped, so they can release the funds to your account. If they'd accuse you of sending a defect they would have to return the product to you with proof of shipping and everything which i'd doubt they would want to do. Then again i've never had the "pleasure" of dealing with one of these scammers so I wouldn't know 100%
Wrong. That's not the scam. The scam is they send you an email that looks exactly like a PayPal email and has a link to a page that looks exactly like a PayPal webpage. Boom boom boom, you think you got the money, you send. Money's not there..Something of that sort. I know a couple Nigerians lmao
They send a fake paypal receipt making it look like you've been paid. Most people actually go to paypal and look.....some don't, and that's how they get you. You send the item to them thinking the fake receipt is real and they get a free phone.
They send you a fake looking paypal receipt, you click the link on it and go to a fake looking paypal website, you type in your log in info, and boom you're account is compromised.
***** 10 times huh? Lol. Didn't learn after the first 3 times? Lol. Wow, and you are trying to give others advice? Please everyone do yourself a favor and don't listen to anyone that let's themselves get scammed 10 times with the same method
anyone that offers more BIG RED FLAG, this happened to me with Ebay guy offered more and after i relized it was a scam i had some words with him, still have my item never sent it bc I'm not guilable
I was looking for an apartment on Craigslist and I ran into scammers 3 different times. They will tell you that they are out of town so they can't show you the inside and expect you to send them money. The monthly rent price is always way cheaper than the rents in the area.
He didn't really mess with them he just kinda sent them(probably bots anyway) messages but they didnt react because they were probably bots anyway. Kind of feel like this was clickbait. This was like the 'dad joke' version of "messing with people"...
+Marvin Lim Yeah it would be a bot just trying to harvest email addresses. He possibly wouldn't even receive the paypal payment. The bot will store the email address entered and they will make their money by selling the emails to some (foreign to us but local to them) marketing firm or another scammer.
some are bots & some aren't. I had several contact me like that & gave them a generic Email address (with no PayPal account tied to it), and they sent me a fake PayPal Email saying that the payment posted! Perhaps also wanting to capture my log in information? I clicked on the link via a virtual machine & it looked like a legit PayPal log in page. After looking at the address bar I further confirmed it was fake! I was still texting the persons & they said they were from Lagos Nigeria! Ironically I do have a friend here that is from that very place, and know a bit about that city so I told the scammer I would have my Nigerian friend pick up the money in person at a particular place there, and deliver in person since the scammer gave me a shipping address there. They kept insisting that the payment went through in PayPal & they ended up sending 3 Emails saying the same thing after going back & forth!!! My friend gave me some actual Nigerian currency since I collect foreign currency, so I took a picture of that money along with the phone I was selling & sent it to them. I told them to pay me in Naira(that's the name of their cash) in person at the given Nigerian address on the Email. I played with a couple of scammers that way for fun... Just when they thought they had me, I had the last laugh!!! :)
they arent bots, they are out of country businesses who can legally lie to you to take your money, because in their country its legal. so most messages are from google translate, making it seem very bot like. thats why you always text spelling some things wrong or putting s p a c e s between words so they cannot be translated :)
My local police station allows us to use their lobby for safe exchange and will run all serial numbers to make sure it hasn't been reported stolen. Love my local police!
Silerios when their English is horribly bad and use the word "kindly". Many scammers have turned out to be from overseas, that's why their English is so bad. Some Native and other fluent English speakers might not have good grammar, but they tend to use words appropriately and in the right order. When you see a text like this, you either think they are retarded or a scammer.
I got targeted for pretty much the same scam a while ago. The next step is that you would receive fake emails from an outlook account claiming to be Paypal saying that do to a technical error, funds you receive will not appear in your account for a few weeks. You can always tell a scammer because they are very impatient with you, they won't haggle the price (perhaps even offer to over pay you), they insist on only using Paypal, they are contacting you from "out of State", and they will insist that you ship the item to some country like Nigeria.
Right, but my point is that this guy had no clue what PayPal was and for all we know the buyer could've been completely legit. I think the seller thought that PayPal was a fake scam site created by the buyer.
***** as a buyer it's easy to scam someone on PayPal because PayPal mainly protects them. They just have to tell PayPal that they didn't get the package and the buyer has the money taken out of his account.
This would be great for people who are unable to leave their home for whatever reason. They would have unlimited conversation and be able to drive these people crazy. It would give nursing home patients great past time and dinner conversation. Always a silver lining.
+jawlek1 interesting, I didn't know if other countries used cdm/CDMA/gsm or something different, I had assumed since the us had so many there may have been more.
+Kevin Kanzler Believe it or not, there are no lions running the streets of African cities, we have safe drinking water running in our homes, we have electricity, fibre optic networks, Macdonalds, KFC, the best wine, the biggest beer brewery in the world, 90% of tax payers own their own homes, and, wait for it.......cell phones!! Yes! Lots of cell phones with about 80% coverage of the inhabited parts continent!!
Smokedoutfarmer Gaming Who in their sane minds let their children to Africa to work if they are “out of state”which means she is in America since states are the American version of provinces
ummm how is that scamming? If someone sends you money through paypal that isn't scamming. There is no such thing as a bad paypal cheque. It actually looks like you were trolling that person.
IceBearForOverlord How is that scamming? That is scamming paypal, not the seller. Heck you could use that same excuse for claiming that ebay is all a scam because anyone can claim they never go their item when they in fact did and get their money back off paypal.
Disturb Oreo What's wrong with paypal? Plus the people claiming it's a scam are arguing that the person can receive the phone but then tell paypal they didn't and get paypal to refund them. Umm how is that an explanation for it being a scam? According to that explanation you may as well say all of ebay and everything to do with paypal is a scam. lol Clearly not. Plus Paypal does not take the money from the seller. They just refund the buyer themselves.
These scammers all type the same it seems lol, when selling my phone on eBay I had two different scammers try getting it off me before I managed to sell it to a legit dude. The first scammer messaged me saying "Thanks for more photos, I'll continue with the payment right now via paypal, I'm buying this item as a birthday gift for my pastor abroad which is why I requested for more photos so that I can ensure I'm not paying for the replica version and I'm working with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) here in Nepal for the earthquake here. I'll like the item to be posted out Today via royal mail international signed for so that it would get to the elderly man before the date. I'll include £40 for the postage cost. Thanks for your understanding." Even though I'd made it clear it was UK only postage, then tried sending me faked PayPal payment notifications. They said they were called Serah and were in Nepal, but later gave a postal address of "Akintunde Ayodeji, No 1, Adeola Adeoye Street, Ikeja Lagos, Nigeria. 23401", I was like lol nope.
+Harry Akira Eaton You know why the liberal world *hates* "tropes"? (called stereotypes most of the time) Because most of the time, they are true, barring the *relatively few exceptions*. They just try and hide that fact by saying, its racist, or bigoted, or other random words liberals use when something gets their panties in a wad. Its why this PC culture is so damn stupid.
Michael Scott LOL bitch ass? Did I strike a tiny little liberal nerve or something? Liberals, and their overly sensitive bullshit are destroying my country. *That* is what I'm on about. Did that clarify it for your feeble delicate little mind?

That's why you send C.O.D. cash on delivery, because the UPS or FedEX will not hand over a package without a certified cashiers check, and the check is then at that point verified by routing & account #'s, amount. In other words it's guaranteed by the carrier if payment is bad. It's the only way I'll ship.
Excuse me, I am dying from glitterosiosis and the only thing that can save me is a modest donation of 1 MIL. Can you kindly donate to my PayPal? :( also I have a son in Africa studying abroad who needs intuition money.
hi is this phone still for sale? i would pay 100,000,000,000 shillings for this phone for my son which is over 100 shillings for your asking price, get back to me soon.
I had the worst time with scammers when I tried to sell my dad’s scooter. They kept sending bs stories. The only reply was, what part of cash only, did you not understand?
It's the combination of bad spelling, being out of state (refusing to meet up), wanting to have the phone shipped to "west Africa" aka Nigeria and wanting to use PayPal. By the looks of it the same person tried to scam this dude at least twice.
That is the same guy and I knew that from the start. I get text messages just like those. That's why this youtuber said the same stuff or similar things to the scammer.
companies that pay you money have the option to charge your account back for what they paid you, meaning once you link their paypal, they can pull as much money out through it as needed before changing their account # again.
the scammers make fraud emails that appear to be from paypal but are not and in reality they never go thru paypal they just contact u thru email and try to get u to western union or money order of sorts where as paypal never would. my girlfriend lost over $1000 trying to sell her car due to "shipping issues"
+EP3mentalist They can call their bank, claim fraudulent charges, and charge back the money from your account. Meaning you lose the money and they can claim someone stole their card.
I'd make sure I had a strong password on PayPal and if they send money, cancel the transaction. Or keep the money in the account (don't spend it) and send them an s5 box with a block of wood with a picture of a phone glued to it. lol
+crispyspa after seeing this I called them out for being a scammer and they didn't respond! if they were to send money I'll make sure to send them the block of wood with an s5 sticker 😂😂😂 thank you!!!
+Mayra Zavala A PayPal can come in a few flavors: 1) They send the funds and then back out of the payment. It's like a bad check, but without the credit or fee repercussions for the person making the fake payment. However it's still better than a bad check as it's easier to fight. PayPal has tons of details on how sellers can protect themselves. 2) They use it to send stolen funds. This is usually a stolen CC/bank account associated with a PayPal account they set up. There is absolutely nothing you can do about chargebacks from this cause, so you're out. 3) To get your email for phishing. This can be used to try and get your full login info with a fake notification, or a setup of the classic "Nigerian Prince" where you have to send money to get the "payment" (which is used to get money directly from you or steal actual CC/bank account info). Just your email alone is pretty safe with PayPal as long as you have a password that can't be guessed easily (password forcing would just have the account restricted for safety anyways). PayPal also has options to add security codes and other ways to restrict the account. While I would not consider the use of PayPal in a request to purchase an object that you can ship as a red flag, and use it all the time (and would take it over a check), there are plenty of other red flags in what was sent here: 1) International buyer. 2) Buying for someone other than themselves. 3) Overpayment offer. 4) Only cursory interest (if any) in the condition of the item. But then I wouldn't ship for Craig's List users anyways. Local, cash only. Selling through eBay or Amazon is where you'd go if you had no problem shipping as they give an extra layer of anonymity with communication and have strict established methods of payment.
The scam is they one of two ways. First is they send yu an email that in every way looks like it's from paypal saying he paid but it's really a fake. Or they send the money and refund it when they get the item and trust me paypal all gives these scammers there money back
a friend of mine bought a car on Craigslist out of state. he sent the guy $5,000 and when he went to go pick it up the address was bogus. he really got screwed.

+Zeldon567 ? I forgot
I was referencing Bioshock, btw.
I had something similar and I led him on for about a week.

I'd forget I left some lights on at home, didn't say hi to the neighbor, forgot to flush the toilet, or forgot to rearrange my sock drawer first. I'd leave the bank, and he'd get pissed.
Barkeroni Why does it cost $16 to print up a check and mail to you????
Ed Hendricks Because check making companies believe that only rich people should be allowed to sent checks.
Whats the price? $350. I pay you $450 and you send to my bisexual son in the western India because I'm hiking the Appalachian mountain currently won't be back in States for year you send now
LMAOO "Bisexual son in the western India" 😂
This, sir, feels like an insult. Why do we blame our country or specify our country's name for every retarded things these people do? I think we should label them separately and not associate them with anything. They don't deserve the privilege of association, anything they are associated with loses value and position in else's eyes. I, sir, have no idea if you have ever been to India, but these people are hated even here. They don't deserve anything. Live long, brother.
Eric Cartman Okay, it's fine. It's funny how you can spot one joke but completely miss the other man. xD

Just give them the address to the Police department and say its your address. :)
I’ve done that before that’s really funny
HELP !? Can anyone tell me how the scam works?
They offer you to pay up front so whats the worst thing that could happen? I don´t get it ... ?
@@ichillalot2938 I believe they pay you with PayPal, and do friends and family so they can undo the payment, but since you already shipped it you cant get the package back. I think that's how it works but I'm not 100%
cc53 They don't even send it, they send a fake PayPal email to the email saying you've received the money, when in actuality they haven't.

A scammer out of nigeria tried to pay my $60 price with a $2500 fake third party cashier's check and then demanded the difference. Funny how they try to sucker you by telling you they will pay significantly more than the asking price. I think it's interesting what an imperfect grasp they have of the English language. One thing though. I am NOT a scammer but I don't think I would send a copy of my driver's license to ANYONE.
the fact that their English is so horrid actually works in favour for them, it makes it so that only the most gullible people get hooked.
Maryann Anderson The driver's license is to show that they're legit, and if something happened they can call the police and have the info on the scammer they need to arrest

Marus I don't have a phone and I have never texted
Jordan Pilarski That's nice
I don't understand the oh u want this much money ok I'll give more than that
its to try and force the sellers hand and make them say: "how could I refuse this"
Howdy Gaming Entertainment $300? Okay I'll give you $10,000 for good measure.
what do you mean?
It's to make the seller take that offer instead of telling them to fuck off. The seller would think "Why would I SHIP and get my money in digital space, have it held for 21 days, and possibly have the funds charged back, and have my account go negative when I could just sell locally and get it in cash?" Then they think "Oh, well I get 150$ extra... I'll do it!"
I thought when somebody paid you through PayPal it would receive the money right away and even if you don't, it's held there and if you have a shipment bill or something that proves you actually shipped the product you keep the money anyway and PayPal go after them...

"Why do they do this?" Because they are so dumb they think they can fool the smart people.

Nathan Warneke they have entire call centers with hundreds. They are fooling Americans out of thousands daily. Most of these places are very poor. They get paid dollars a day to sit and do this. I wish I could remember the name so I could post it.

PayPal is the easiest way to scam.... all you have to do is say you sent the money on accident or you didn't send the money and PayPal will give your money back but takeaway some money
IWILL - Wdym you can get free PayPal money by saying you sent it by accident?
Javon Frazier yes
Javon Frazier first, pay someone then tell PayPal is was an accident I got my $13 back doing this
Javon Frazier lmao um, that’s called fraud. and you can only do this probably about 2-3, maybe 4 times tops, and then they’ll catch on and you’ll be fucked.
They don't do that they create an email and send you an email that looks like it's off of PayPal saying they paid you when really the email was fake.
They tried that craps when I was selling my boat. I just kept telling them if you want it you have to pay cash in person. Funny how they were all out of the country
Why would a Bangladeshi scammed want the item shipped to West Africa. surely it makes more sense that u assume he's West African?
@Altair you fuckers are all over the world

I'll tell you the reason for that comment. My mom had just gotten a smartphone and being a 65 year old woman she was confused as to what all the colors mint on her text messaging and we had just had a conversation about it. I was like Mom... The different colors just make it easy for you to know who is saying what. For being a paralegal for most of her life she sure is confused by the simplest things. LOL. +Carla Bunn I agree, it says a lot about them. Specially when I know I could knock him out with one blow lol
I'm assuming the scam is they pay, you ship, they say you sent them a brick and they get a refund and keep the phone? I don't see any other way that could work out for them.
+Joel Foreman I think they send a check then they cancel the check and they get to keep their money and the phone which they will probably sell it.
That's not how PayPal works.
Joel Foreman No, they get your email then they send you a fake paypal page saying that the payment was received so that you ship the item but because the email was fake paypal is not even aware.
+Joel Foreman From what i've heard they normally use something of the sorts:
- Scammer agrees to pay you through paypal and even pays extra to cover the costs, but asks you to send the item to his brother who happens to live somewhere else.
- You give him your paypal and he pays you the money.
- You ship the item to his "brother"
- He files a fraud claim stating that the item was not delivered to his confirmed paypal shipping address and he did not receive the item (Which he of course did but Paypal doesn't know that)
- You are unable to prove anything because you most likely didn't use a tracking number nor did you use the shipping address that Paypal can see linked to his account.
*Do you still have the phone for sale?*
*I'll pay $4,500,000 and shipping, of course.*
Yes, and to make sure you're not scamming me I would like for you to send me a picture of both front and back of your credit card
ContactingTheDead Why he not answer you? I feel slighted.
ContactingTheDead PayPal will be fine, you sound trustworthy.
Ramune Tha Fluff Butt lmao
Honestly messing with scammers is the best form of entertainment
How can they scam you with PayPal? If the cash doesn't go in to your PayPal account dont send the item. Am I missing something?
They send a fake paypal receipt making it look like you've been paid. Most people actually go to paypal and look.....some don't, and that's how they get you. You send the item to them thinking the fake receipt is real and they get a free phone.
They send you a fake looking paypal receipt, you click the link on it and go to a fake looking paypal website, you type in your log in info, and boom you're account is compromised.
joey dufrene It is so, so, so easy to do a chargeback with paypal, claiming non delivery.
They dont even need to send a fake receipt.

Agreed.
I don't think they were bots. They were responding to him.
they arent bots, they are out of country businesses who can legally lie to you to take your money, because in their country its legal. so most messages are from google translate, making it seem very bot like. thats why you always text spelling some things wrong or putting s p a c e s between words so they cannot be translated :)
Do Police stations really let you do Craiglist deals in the lobby?
They have a meeting place. They will let you do this. Google it lol

Why wouldn't they let people ??
why are you using craigslist
You can't just walk up to someone on the street and sell them your phone...
+The try hard Gamer do you have eBay or Amazon where ever you are you could use that if you do
+awesomo660 because ebay and amazon take 30 days to let you use the money or longer....
+awesomo660 there's even more scammers on those sites than eBay lol considering they force you to use PayPal and they're always on the customer's side
Look up "OfferUp" on your phone, I sell all my stuff in person and never met a scammer yet
I'll be honest, this is more entertaining than most of the garbage that gets uploaded to UA-cam nowadays

Sam Hem it's s difference between the if and is
Lol scammers don't seem to try anymore
STEENSEN STUDIO why try if people fall for it ::
That's part of the tactic actually. By making the scam so (seemingly) obvious, they filter out the people who wouldn't fall for it in the first place.
They're just going for the low-hanging fruit.
I'm cringing because of how begging the scammer is

I got targeted for pretty much the same scam a while ago. The next step is that you would receive fake emails from an outlook account claiming to be Paypal saying that do to a technical error, funds you receive will not appear in your account for a few weeks. You can always tell a scammer because they are very impatient with you, they won't haggle the price (perhaps even offer to over pay you), they insist on only using Paypal, they are contacting you from "out of State", and they will insist that you ship the item to some country like Nigeria.
PayPal is a legitimate online payment website. Definitely not a scam.
True but people can abuse it and use it to scam others
Right, but my point is that this guy had no clue what PayPal was and for all we know the buyer could've been completely legit. I think the seller thought that PayPal was a fake scam site created by the buyer.
***** You can send money and take it back after the person ships the item. You can also send fake payment receipts with paypal
***** It was quite obvious that it was a scam when he asked to ship the phone to africa...
***** as a buyer it's easy to scam someone on PayPal because PayPal mainly protects them. They just have to tell PayPal that they didn't get the package and the buyer has the money taken out of his account.
This guy is savage😂
You get scammed more than I get paid
This would be great for people who are unable to leave their home for whatever reason. They would have unlimited conversation and be able to drive these people crazy. It would give nursing home patients great past time and dinner conversation. Always a silver lining.
You sure do get a lot of enjoyment out of doing that, don't you? XD
Stuff bet alot of ppl do. Fucking with theives is 1 of the best things in life
What if these people actually just want a phone and will pay over PayPal because of their needs
exactly
that only leaves the hospital excuse then. I guarantee the phone won't work on West Africa and the "abroad" it probably won't work in either.
+KevinSulli7 exactly this dude is acting as if using paypal is a scam.
Yes! Lots of cell phones with about 80% coverage of the inhabited parts continent!!
im going to find your ad and scam you
I got the same thing on Craigslist for my PS4, lady said her kid was in Africa and she was out of state saying they would pay more for it
Smokedoutfarmer Gaming Who in their sane minds let their children to Africa to work if they are “out of state”which means she is in America since states are the American version of provinces
ummm how is that scamming? If someone sends you money through paypal that isn't scamming. There is no such thing as a bad paypal cheque.
It actually looks like you were trolling that person.
They are obviously trying to Scam you if they try to make you pay through an unsupported method since he's using craigslist.
They can refund their money once they get the phone
IceBearForOverlord
How is that scamming? That is scamming paypal, not the seller. Heck you could use that same excuse for claiming that ebay is all a scam because anyone can claim they never go their item when they in fact did and get their money back off paypal.
Disturb Oreo
What's wrong with paypal? Plus the people claiming it's a scam are arguing that the person can receive the phone but then tell paypal they didn't and get paypal to refund them.
Umm how is that an explanation for it being a scam? According to that explanation you may as well say all of ebay and everything to do with paypal is a scam. lol
Clearly not.
Plus Paypal does not take the money from the seller. They just refund the buyer themselves.
+Big D when you pay someone through paypal you can easily refund it. if it's an item you shipped you cant get that item back cause you shipped it.
Ummm im from bangladesh and most scammers are from india not bangladesh
Zumpay sorry for my ignorance. Ignorance is not an excuse for not knowing the facts. Everything is a learning experience.
lmao finnaly a ytber that replies to "hate" comments
AJLJ _PRO-GAMING wtf are u 7?
wtf...........
XUKA how would you know?
+Harry Akira Eaton I actually thought the Nigerian scammer trope was an exaggeration before that happened.
+Slyguy threeonetwonine What's your bitch ass on about?
Michael Scott
LOL bitch ass? Did I strike a tiny little liberal nerve or something?
Liberals, and their overly sensitive bullshit are destroying my country.
*That* is what I'm on about. Did that clarify it for your feeble delicate little mind?

That's why you send C.O.D. cash on delivery, because the UPS or FedEX will not hand over a package without a certified cashiers check, and the check is then at that point verified by routing & account #'s, amount. In other words it's guaranteed by the carrier if payment is bad. It's the only way I'll ship.
I WILL GIVE U THE MONEY! I'm out of state right now I'm on Jupiter please just send through pay pal 😂
Who else was trying to scroll their phone while watching this ?
yep
yup
hahaha seriously me too
yeah... oops
I had the worst time with scammers when I tried to sell my dad’s scooter. They kept sending bs stories. The only reply was, what part of cash only, did you not understand?
That was funny😂. also on a random not, your house seams so homey
Lol 😂 I thought the same thing. looks like my house most of the time, carpet a big comfy couch, pj's and a little dog hair 😁
Who the hell doesn't know what paypal is?
He was joking.
fuck pay pal
bruh look at the title
you Sir are dumb af
+Jens Kellner the one who is dumb is the person who actually doesn't know what paypal is and lives in America.
OK, I'm old just because he wanted to pay by paypal makes him a scammer. Thanks for any insight.
It's the combination of bad spelling, being out of state (refusing to meet up), wanting to have the phone shipped to "west Africa" aka Nigeria and wanting to use PayPal.
By the looks of it the same person tried to scam this dude at least twice.
Thanks
That is the same guy and I knew that from the start. I get text messages just like those. That's why this youtuber said the same stuff or similar things to the scammer.
If you get money by paypal how can you get scammed? I thought it was a solid way to sell and get paid. Again thanks
Thanks
"yes I'm local" and "I'm out of state for a year" lmao.
What's wrong with accepting PayPal payment?
companies that pay you money have the option to charge your account back for what they paid you, meaning once you link their paypal, they can pull as much money out through it as needed before changing their account # again.
+kiddcampbell Didn't know that. What's to stop someone from emptying an ebay sellers bank account?
integrity i guess..
the scammers make fraud emails that appear to be from paypal but are not and in reality they never go thru paypal they just contact u thru email and try to get u to western union or money order of sorts where as paypal never would. my girlfriend lost over $1000 trying to sell her car due to "shipping issues"
+EP3mentalist They can call their bank, claim fraudulent charges, and charge back the money from your account. Meaning you lose the money and they can claim someone stole their card.
I actually also put a galaxy S5 on Cg and I got that west Africa scam text! I gave them my PayPal email and nothing else. What do I do???😯
I'd make sure I had a strong password on PayPal and if they send money, cancel the transaction.
+Mayra Zavala A PayPal can come in a few flavors:
1) They send the funds and then back out of the payment.
If they send you money, keep it!!! lol
The scam is they one of two ways. First is they send yu an email that in every way looks like it's from paypal saying he paid but it's really a fake. Or they send the money and refund it when they get the item and trust me paypal all gives these scammers there money back
Hi are you still selling that phone for 300? Yea? Ok, I'll pay you an extra 500 because I'm nice.
It is so sad and frustrating to find this out. I was so discouraged and it was so depressing to see that these selling apps are mostly shady scammers
I feel like they think your the scammer
@ mojodojo24 Why not post an inflammatory comment and then not allow replies. Coward troll.
BTW I corrected myself @ :20
***** You are also wasting your own time doing this.
crispyspa Hey how can they scam you if you give them your paypal email? Surely everyone on ebay could scam you as they all get that?
crispyspa Munching popcorn...
crispyspa I like your bed sheets(3:00)...how much? NOT A SCAMMER!!! XD
crispyspa lol fyourself@gmail.com lol
I almost got scammed out of selling my car once. I can't believe I almost fell for it.
a friend of mine bought a car on Craigslist out of state. he sent the guy $5,000 and when he went to go pick it up the address was bogus. he really got screwed.
+crispyspa your friend is an IDIOT
+crispyspa lool so crazy
