- www.FiniansonBr... Check out Cheyenne Jackson and Kate Baldwin in FINIANS RAINBOW, performing "Old Devil Moon!" With a sparkling score and a whimsical story that dances between romance, satire and fairy tale, FINIAN'S RAINBOW is a musical theater treasure. Opening night is October 29, 2009!
this is the song I couldn't get out of my head when I left the theater : ) So happy it's on youtube now!
GO SEE FINIAN'S, IT'S WONDERFUL.
This was the best show on Broadway this year, by a mile. And this is the nicest rendition of "Old Devil Moon" I have ever heard.
This was one of my absolute favorite theatre experiences I've had on Broadway. The show was so well cast and played; it wasn't overwhelmingly bombastic -- nothing about it was just spectacle for spectacle's sake. I wish I could time travel back to that night and see it again.
I just saw this show on Broadway! BEST show I have ever seen! Magical! Brilliant! They don't make 'em like this any more! The entire cast is so talented it is mind-blowing!! Don't miss it! I predict multiple Tony Awards! Cheyenne Jackson and Kate Baldwin are both extraordinary!
Kate Baldwin has such a gorgeous voice. Cheyenne Jackson is incredible as well.
Cheyenne Jackson and Kate Baldwin were MAGIC in this show. Two more brilliant performers and two nicer people you will never find.
Terrific performance.
It's a great duo, singing just in the way as the musical.
Bravo!
Good job on one of my favorite songs from a delightful musical. Wish they still wrote 'em like this!
Ah! I loved the movie, love this song!
I've not seen much of his work, but what I see here makes me a fan of Cheyenne. He's very convincing in his duet with Kate, and his approach to the lyric carries the same emotivistic power as Gene Kelley's "Like being in love."
I never knew that song came from Finnian's Rainbow... lovely... Cheyenns Jackson is super... Kate Baldwin looks the part - lovely voice too... expected high soprano but her alto is lovely
Kate Baldwin has a soprano voice -- she's done the soprano roles in She Loves Me and Fiorello! -- but she sound beautiful when she's just singing midrange like this too. And the role was written (in the 1940s) for a low-voiced lady, Ella Logan.
Love this - from both performers!
I just saw this last night and it was AMAZING! This was my favorite song, and I haven't stopped singing it all day. :D
Cheyenne Jackson, King of Broadway. He is the best.
Cheyenne Jackson is one of the best actors of broadway this last decade. no doubt about it
this song willl hopefully get me the part i want in the show im auditioning for, but i love this song anyway
Kate is so flawless!
Fabulous show!!
Gorgeous voice!
Seems excessively hateful.. you don't get to broadway with terrible voices and.. i guess stench..
Saw the show today - He was amazing! (Unfortunately Finnian's is closing next Sunday:(
oh my god this is the most romantic song ever sigh
We are singing a version of this in my choir class.
saw it today.. loved it :(
sad they are leaving )
She's evocative of Ann-Margret!
@edenboi70 I'm sorry for the loss of your cousin--he is a true hero. I go to his old high school and we are so proud of him.
I don't care what anybody says, he's got the best voice in town!
Just saw the show last night! It is great and it's a shame it's closing, although if you see it, you quickly understand why. This is a 1940's revival piece and it's such a great pure throwback musical but I think it is a little under-appealing to today's current Broadway market. Everyone was awesome though! :-)
Everything about this song was spectacular...Lyrics, music and their voices...What this great song was used for during this production was a bait and switch. What you got with the rest of the play was "multiculturalism" forced on you that had nothing to do with the original play...That's why it did and should have closed early... From Wikipedia: In October 2009, Jackson opened on Broadway reprising the role of Woody Mahoney in the revival of the 1947 musical Finian's Rainbow at the St. James Theatre, costarring with Jim Norton and Kate Baldwin.] The Wall Street Journal wrote, "The way that [Kate Baldwin] and Cheyenne Jackson sing "Old Devil Moon" is the stuff best-selling cast albums are made of." The show closed on January 17, 2010. Along with the company of Finian's Rainbow, Jackson recorded the Broadway revival cast album in early December 2009, with a release date of February 2, 2010.
Too bad it's closed now. I just checked.
@suki3275
it closed last January, but I don't know if it's on tour....
She reminds me of Eileen Brennan.
smokin' hot!
Does anyone know where to get a good kareoke track for this style of this song? I’m auditioning for a role with this song but all the tracks I’ve found are too jazzy or too disco and I can’t find any tracks like this
wow is it really that good? it seems enjoyable based on the clips. im a huge theatre freak lol maybe ill go see it.
@SAfan33 is this u Hanalie??
It was a musical before it was a movie.......
Ah. they are both smokin'! Their Broadway revival of Finian should have had a longer life....I take it this is the Encores version of "....Moon?" Did Jim Norton reprise his Encore part later on Broadway?
This was a publicity video made for the Broadway run. You can tell it's not from Encores because the costumes aren't quite so basic, and because of the Broadway production's logo at the beginning. And yes, Jim Norton went with the production to Broadway, as did Terri White, though some of the other roles were recast. There's a wonderful cast recording from the Broadway run, on PS Classics.
Cheynne Jackson played my cousin in the movie flight 93. My cousin was mark Bingham considered to be one of the heroes if flight 93. I was happy a gay actor was actually playing my cousin.
Damn he is HOT
Is she German?
No, she's American, though she's doing a bit of an Irish accent for this role.
She sounds Irish
Way too fast! The movie version with Petula Clark and Don Franks is epic!
is he hot or what?!
That's not the original. The original was performed and recorded by Ella Logan and Donald Richards in the original Broadway production, which came some 20 years or so before the film. The film was rubbish, by the way.
Terrible rendition. He was singing to his guitar not her. There was no love interest in this at all.
Truthfully I thought he was the better performer here...Much more relaxed and natural...
