I just found a gigabyte 3070, did the crazy thing and bought it, I was gonna wait a while for AMD but I guess I'm now building my 2nd rig around the 3070.

Are the Strix cards worth the big pricetag? For the price of a Strix 3060 Ti, you can get a 3070 (other brand), and for the price of a Strix 3070, you can get a 3080 (other brand), so are the Strix cards worth it, does it perform that much better, to justify the price?
Dont do that. Alot of people will buy the zotac cards, and zotac literally cut every single corner they could with their cards. They perform worse than FE. Atleast they cut the prices of their gpus today which makes sense because they are not worth what the others are.

Thank you! Considering the small performance differences I see seo far, I think in general the cheaper SKUs are the better value. I haven't seen the TUF RTX 3070, but if it's the same cooler as on the RTX 3080 it'll be great for sure. Strix looks nicer though.

I was able to get the MSI Ventus OC from PLE for $999 AUD. But idk man I'm kind of in a state of shock, that markup is fucking absurd. I was dying to get my hands on a RTX 3070 for my first PC build and wanted to get one ASAP so I could build my PC before November end. But after that price tag... I don't know what I should do. Hold on to it? Sell it at a higher price? Sell it after the AMD 6800 benchmarks come out? Jeez I didn't realize I would feel worse buying a RTX 3070 rather than not being able to.
@hagormo . Look, if you can afford it, and you want it, just enjoy it and see what the future brings. There is always something else coming, there's always going to be some fluctuations, etcetera. I'd plug in that RTX 3070 and just go and have fun with it. Absolutely no reason to feel bad / worse after buying a nice card. Fyi, I've got a 3080 Ventus here, it's actually pretty good :)

The exception was the RTX 3000 series considering they were such a giant leap from the previous generation. So I went to my local Canada Computers retailer last night in hopes of joining the 120 unit que line for the 3060ti, as I was there trying to decide which model I should order an employee comes out of the back saying they JUST got a 3070 in and they have 5 people on the phone calling about it.. but since im here now.. "ILL TAKE IT". Turns out it was the Gigabyte GAMING OC model which is the same model in this video, and same as my current 1660ti, one thing She didnt mention but I really like is the fact this one has 4 heatpipes in direct contact with the gpu, whereas most twin fan coolers only have 3 heatpipes. I just looked up the strix which also has a bunch of heatpipes, but with a heatplate attached. Anyways I've been very happy with my 1660 ti GAMING OC and Im extremely happy that I was able to even get to have a 3070 so soon. This also comes with an extra 4th year of warranty if you register it online. They try and sell you an extended warranty when you buy it for an extra 150$, and they say if in 3 years they dont have any 3070's, then they give you the NEWEST "5070/6070" whatever one is out at the time.. which I feel hard to believe but hey whatever sells the warranty lol. Cheapest of these cards (not counting the unavailable FE) is actually 680 rn, so all of a sudden that communicated (and not real) ROG price isn't that insane...I wonder whether the FE is actually going to be available at any point before Q2 2021. Man, NVIDIA really seems to have botched this up quite well

Nice review! I like that you reminded people of the normal variation in performance instead of showing graph after graph of insignificant 2 or 3fps gains over stock for the overclocked cards. I managed to get my hands on a Gigabyte Vision OC (I mostly got it because it was the first card I was able to click on quickly enough to buy XD) and I wasn't sure how to feel about it, but after your review I do feel good about the card I managed to purchase. Despite the extra power consumption, with the efficient the cooler, dual bios, and good looks, I'm okay with spending the extra money, especially after seeing how warm the FE card gets.
Also, the 3070 is not a "mid-range" GPU, maybe because of Nvidia's new price points, but it's still a high end if you look at the entire field of retail cards.
You guys ever notice how many UA-camrs use the exact same set? White desk (check). Colored lights shining on the walls (check). RGB desktop PC in the background (check). Parts boxes on shelves (check). Nerdy action figures (check). It's like they all film in the exact same location.
What about the ASUS ROG STRIX 3070 vs the EVGA 3070? I have the opportunity to get them at around the same price and I’m having a hard time finding info on both of them compared.
Smart focusing on the board partners cards comparison, since everyone and their mother already covered the FE, on its own. All the reviewers combined probably have most of NVIDIA 30 series cards supply currently available. xD
Already did the FE 2 days ago, seperate NDA and such. As for stock, I know they're shipping 1000s of these in the EU alone. It's just not enough to meet demand.
I still see a huge gap design wise, the FE is gorgeous while the others have this gaming vibe transformers looking that is starting to look old and repeating across all brands, i can't believe people look at the rgb to buy a video card and the cooling performance 🤔 if u buy one of those big cards to go extreme and hit some OC you might wanna water block it.. so what's the point of buying a strix if clocks speeds are the same?
OC potential might be a bit higher, but it does look like overclocking is becoming near useless. I think manufacturers need to rethink their focus choices. In the past, "OC" meant 5%, 10% or 15% more performance. With that gone, I think they need to find "something" more to justify higher prices other than looks. But who knows, maybe it's just Nvidia waiting to take over the entire market :P

Just wondering what the performance upgrade would be from a GTX 1070 8gb (no Ti) to either a Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 Super WINDFORCE OC 3x 8G or a PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT Red Devil 8GB GDDR6 HDMI/3xDP Video Card please??? I can't seem to figure out whether the upgrade would be worth it.
Significant actually, I need to recheck the details but probably close to 50%. But why not go for a 3070, or wait a bit longer for another new card like a 3060 Ti?
@@TechTesters I bought a 3080 but found I was number 1000 on the list so canceled. Plus, the original prices quoted for the cards have been increased by around 25% at the moment as the manufacturers cut the price at the start to get people into the game. The £700 3080 TUF GPU was £885 three weeks later from the same dealer (Overclockers), I'm willing to wait though I suppose, although it's also about my budget to some extent, I don't intend paying 25% more as hopefully the GPU rivalry will flatten out the price. Managed to snag one 3070 for about €600 and it's more than enough for 1440p gaming which I'll be doing as I don't even own a 4K screen yet but have 1 ultra-wide 1440p curved gaming screen.
8:09 Is that only the graphics score? or the total from system score (gpu & cpu)? My evga xc3 got 13864 in graphics score. I don't like it that it reaches 69 or 70 degrees like the founder edition easily but I might upgrade again once the stock and prices normalize. that could be 2-3 years from now on.

I was able to pre order the msi gaming trio on Amazon. It has been the only one I've even had a chance of getting but I'm glad it performs well. I'm coming from a 2070 non super and was completely satisfied with its performance at 1440p so I know this 3070 will be great.
I just bought the Gigabyte Eagle non-OC version but now I'm kind of wishing I'd bought the Gaming OC or Eagle OC variants. Hopefully the difference in real world use won't be too significant.
Probably not, maybe a bit of noise difference, and a few feature differences you may not even care about. If it doesn't boost nicely by itself, big chance you can make it just as fast by increasing the power limit in software like Afterburner.
You say the Gigabyte Gaming OC has 3 display ports and 1 hdmi port while showing image at 5:56 where it clearly has 2 display ports and 2 hdmi. Am I missing something, or is this just a small mistake?

Are the Strix cards worth the big pricetag?
For the price of a Strix 3060 Ti, you can get a 3070 (other brand), and for the price of a Strix 3070, you can get a 3080 (other brand), so are the Strix cards worth it, does it perform that much better, to justify the price?
No asus rtx 3070 is so costly that you can buy a rtx 3080 at same price
Buy the cheapest one available in other words. Regarding looks, I never cared about that. I'm not looking at plastic over my GPU when I'm gaming.
Dont do that. Alot of people will buy the zotac cards, and zotac literally cut every single corner they could with their cards. They perform worse than FE. Atleast they cut the prices of their gpus today which makes sense because they are not worth what the others are.

Thank you! Considering the small performance differences I see seo far, I think in general the cheaper SKUs are the better value. I haven't seen the TUF RTX 3070, but if it's the same cooler as on the RTX 3080 it'll be great for sure. Strix looks nicer though.

I was able to get the MSI Ventus OC from PLE for $999 AUD. But idk man I'm kind of in a state of shock, that markup is fucking absurd. I was dying to get my hands on a RTX 3070 for my first PC build and wanted to get one ASAP so I could build my PC before November end. But after that price tag... I don't know what I should do. Hold on to it? Sell it at a higher price? Sell it after the AMD 6800 benchmarks come out? Jeez I didn't realize I would feel worse buying a RTX 3070 rather than not being able to.
@hagormo . Look, if you can afford it, and you want it, just enjoy it and see what the future brings. There is always something else coming, there's always going to be some fluctuations, etcetera. I'd plug in that RTX 3070 and just go and have fun with it. Absolutely no reason to feel bad / worse after buying a nice card.

@@TechTesters Heyyy! Thanks for the encouragement haha. Yeah I'm certainly one of the people who doesn't buy into the whole "wait there are new parts coming out" business. The exception was the RTX 3000 series considering they were such a giant leap from the previous generation. Oh well, once I plug this bad boy into the rig and start up my 1440p monitor, all the anxiety will probably wash away.
For 1440p gaming, NVIDIA's FE card is my obvious choice due to pricing, the other cards are way overpriced compared to 3080 MSRP.

So I went to my local Canada Computers retailer last night in hopes of joining the 120 unit que line for the 3060ti, as I was there trying to decide which model I should order an employee comes out of the back saying they JUST got a 3070 in and they have 5 people on the phone calling about it.. but since im here now.. "ILL TAKE IT". Turns out it was the Gigabyte GAMING OC model which is the same model in this video, and same as my current 1660ti, one thing She didnt mention but I really like is the fact this one has 4 heatpipes in direct contact with the gpu, whereas most twin fan coolers only have 3 heatpipes. I just looked up the strix which also has a bunch of heatpipes, but with a heatplate attached. Anyways I've been very happy with my 1660 ti GAMING OC and Im extremely happy that I was able to even get to have a 3070 so soon. This also comes with an extra 4th year of warranty if you register it online. They try and sell you an extended warranty when you buy it for an extra 150$, and they say if in 3 years they dont have any 3070's, then they give you the NEWEST "5070/6070" whatever one is out at the time.. which I feel hard to believe but hey whatever sells the warranty lol. Cheapest of these cards (not counting the unavailable FE) is actually 680 rn, so all of a sudden that communicated (and not real) ROG price isn't that insane...I wonder whether the FE is actually going to be available at any point before Q2 2021. Nice review! I like that you reminded people of the normal variation in performance instead of showing graph after graph of insignificant 2 or 3fps gains over stock for the overclocked cards. I managed to get my hands on a Gigabyte Vision OC (I mostly got it because it was the first card I was able to click on quickly enough to buy XD) and I wasn't sure how to feel about it, but after your review I do feel good about the card I managed to purchase. Despite the extra power consumption, with the efficient the cooler, dual bios, and good looks, I'm okay with spending the extra money, especially after seeing how warm the FE card gets.

Also, the 3070 is not a "mid-range" GPU, maybe because of Nvidia's new price points, but it's still a high end if you look at the entire field of retail cards.

You guys ever notice how many UA-camrs use the exact same set? White desk (check). Colored lights shining on the walls (check). RGB desktop PC in the background (check). Parts boxes on shelves (check). Nerdy action figures (check). It's like they all film in the exact same location.
What about the ASUS ROG STRIX 3070 vs the EVGA 3070? I have the opportunity to get them at around the same price and I’m having a hard time finding info on both of them compared.
I haven't really seen EVGA cards here lately, but with a 3070 you should be fine with either.

I still see a huge gap design wise, the FE is gorgeous while the others have this gaming vibe transformers looking that is starting to look old and repeating across all brands, i can't believe people look at the rgb to buy a video card and the cooling performance 🤔 if u buy one of those big cards to go extreme and hit some OC you might wanna water block it.. so what's the point of buying a strix if clocks speeds are the same?
OC potential might be a bit higher, but it does look like overclocking is becoming near useless. I think manufacturers need to rethink their focus choices. In the past, "OC" meant 5%, 10% or 15% more performance. With that gone, I think they need to find "something" more to justify higher prices other than looks.
But who knows, maybe it's just Nvidia waiting to take over the entire market :P

@@TechTesters I bought a 3080 but found I was number 1000 on the list so canceled. Plus, the original prices quoted for the cards have been increased by around 25% at the moment as the manufacturers cut the price at the start to get people into the game. The £700 3080 TUF GPU was £885 three weeks later from the same dealer (Overclockers), I'm willing to wait though I suppose, although it's also about my budget to some extent, I don't intend paying 25% more as hopefully the GPU rivalry will flatten out the price. @@SgtMajor82 Next shipment is around 11/30, then there's another at 12/11 then one in January 21st. At least where I live. Managed to snag one 3070 for about €600 and it's more than enough for 1440p gaming which I'll be doing as I don't even own a 4K screen yet but have 1 ultra-wide 1440p curved gaming screen.

8:09 Is that only the graphics score? or the total from system score (gpu & cpu)? My evga xc3 got 13864 in graphics score. I don't like it that it reaches 69 or 70 degrees like the founder edition easily but I might upgrade again once the stock and prices normalize. that could be 2-3 years from now on.

I was able to pre order the msi gaming trio on Amazon. It has been the only one I've even had a chance of getting but I'm glad it performs well.
I'm coming from a 2070 non super and was completely satisfied with its performance at 1440p so I know this 3070 will be great.
I was able to snag one at 2:46am Central yesterday as well! longest I saw it go in stock.

Probably not, maybe a bit of noise difference, and a few feature differences you may not even care about. If it doesn't boost nicely by itself, big chance you can make it just as fast by increasing the power limit in software like Afterburner.

You say the Gigabyte Gaming OC has 3 display ports and 1 hdmi port while showing image at 5:56 where it clearly has 2 display ports and 2 hdmi. Am I missing something, or is this just a small mistake?

Whatever is the most efficient is the best....Asus Strix OC version overall, Asus TUFF is a good no frills version. ZOTAC trinity OC for performance if you dont mind running a personal heater.
