All sounds in this track came from the K1r, including the drums.
The Kawai K1r (1988) is a rack mount version of the K1 synth which uses Kawai's "VM additive synthesis tone generator", with a selection of 256 basic waveforms, including 52 PCM samples. Building a sound involves mixing up to four of the waveforms, with the ability to add ring modulation as well, but as with so many digital units of the time, it's a slow process diving through the detailed menus on that small LCD screen.
Fortunately, there's a VST available from Nils Schneider that's very close to the original sound (some envelopes sound a little different on my K1r compared to the virtual instrument) - you can find it here: www.nilsschnei...

Who doesn't like dancing robots
So underrated synth that can actually blow out of the water many big names. Great track.
Wow. This is definitely one of the best tracks ever made with that synth! How about some detailed information about the effects used in this track? Boss delay? Yamaha chorus?
Good prediction :D But not on this one - most tracks are just straight out of the K1r. There is a quick delay added to the melody in the second chorus, most tracks are sent to a reverb for ambience, and there's some compression on the drums and bass - all done in the DAW.
@@alfonsemusic Thanks for the info. 🙂
First K1 demo, that doesn‘t sound at all like a K1. Well done!
Greetings from Germany!🇩🇪🤝
Dankeschön!
brilliant as usual. if you had a concert, i'd be the first to buy a ticket!!
Thanks! :)
You're making me want to get my old K1 II out of the closet. Your K1 specific tracks are the most inspirational K1 tracks on YT!
Thanks, appreciate that :) Had a lot of fun with those sounds.
That 34 years old sound module sounds totally fresh. Obviously there is no dated gear If it's used in a smart way.
Great tune and camerawork. You should add a Dustbot to your collection to keep your desk and racks vacuumed.
:D That would be a good solution for me, for sure. Never seen a Dustbot in the flesh, though... Thanks for watching.
So groovy
I love the K1 and I love your cute robots!!
Then you have excellent taste! Thanks Celia :)
Nice music and cool machine + robots!!!😉👍
Cool song & lovely robots. I want them!
As we said before, this Kawai box is surprisingly usable.
Great song
Thanks :)
Great track and programing Alfonse.
Thanks Johnny!
Your tracks are always great!
Cheers Kenzie!
Nawet dobre. Podoba mi się.
Impressive! I have one of this too k1r… the sounds I really do not know how to present. You did it so well..😂
Thanks :)
This song is so much better than the actual synth.
It'll be leaving my collection fairly soon...
@@alfonsemusic Had mine 32 years and counting, and still gets me out of the shit when more modern synths do not provide the right sounds.
Same opinion here. 👍
I do like a lot of the sounds, so I can see how you'd keep going back to it, but I mainly get frustrated by the interface when trying to edit or create patches. For me personally, Nils Schneider's K1v is close enough to the sound with more convenience.
@@alfonsemusic Yeah I understand this would be the case, if you are making your own presets. Using a software editor or Nil's is the best way to go for that.
Hello, Robotinos
You should make demos for keyboard companies!
