- In this week's episode, we're out metal detecting at one of our favorite sites, and for good reason! The finds never stop coming, and some of them are truly extraordinary... like the exceedingly RARE find I made in this video that, with the proper attribution, would fetch THOUSANDS. Old coinage, 1700s and 1600s relics... and then a BANGER! What more could you possible ask for? Enjoy!

Great hunt, if you ask me! If the cufflink is a Washington, (Homerun)! Patrick had some cool artifacts also! Bits and pieces kind of day, but a good day! Til next time, see you then and keep on digging. 😊
Thank you! Even if it’s not Washington, it’s ridiculously rare because I’ve never seen any others like it! Could honestly be a new discovery, a 1 of 1 situation in terms of the survival of pieces.
WOW WOW WOW on that possible rare cuff link!!! Very exciting for you Stef!! Congratulations
Thanks Ally! I’ll need to find a brass or copper alloy match to confirm, and that’ll take some work, hah!
great outing! nice saves! I NEED to travel north a bit lol....well, when I can swing again that is 🤣
Thank you!
What a hunt, Patrick found some great old relics and the copper; you found the amazing cufflink and so many buckle bits and buttons too 😮😃
It was a great day! That cufflink is one of the coolest pieces of history I’ve ever found!
Unfortunately, the only find on which I have a definite opinion is the item you thought to be possible Masonic. I definitely agree! Only a hunch, but I would not argue your idea for the cufflink. I hope to see another visit to that field, I think it has a lot going for it. (another hunch)Thank you, Stef!
I will say, there may have been another cufflink out there that’s the match to the one I found… you might change your mind when you see that one. 😉 Thanks for watching!
Awesome hunt! Congrats on the cuff link. I think you’re spot on identifying it. ✌🏼❤️😊🍀
Thank you! I hope so… 🤞🏻 I’d really like to have a 100% positive ID “just in case” another pops up in a video soon. 😬😆
Amazing to think what you have there! I'm hardly a cuff link expert, but your research and ID seem spot on to me- please let us know if you get confirmation. Very excited for you!
Thank you! I really hope I can get a definitive answer, I’m exhausted from searching and searching. 😂
Nice one Stef. Congrats on your cuff link. That is super cool. Marvellous how big the rabbit holes are that we can go down to try and find out about what we have found. Well done you. Take care mate 🦘🦘😁👍
Thanks Andrew! It’s a good thing so many oddball finds end up in my pouch, because I’m always willing to go down a rabbit hole! 🤣
Hey Stef and Pat great Hunt. Pat Congrats on the Copper and Thimbles. Hang in there if you haven't already you get your first holed coin. Stef I love your videos and history. Talking about first and best finds of the year or ever. I sent you some pics. 2 in one hole once in a lifetime spill. Yesterday please let Pat know. 1882 5 Dollar Gold Coin. Your Cuff link i can't even imagine finding that is got to be one of the coolest Relics ive seen dug up Congrats Big time. I also love the flower button or leather piece you found. Congrats on all the Relics. Take Care Stef
Thank you! Definitely one of the best relics I’ve dug. Glad you’re having some luck out there too!
It's been a great week. My beautiful wife and kids can't get over the week I had. It's so hard to describe the feelings.
Thanks!
Great video Stef! Absolutely amazing if you are even in the same ball park as the GEN Washington cuff link. I almost thought I could read the GEN while you were talking and showing the cuff link. Awesome location!
Thank you! I really can’t narrow this cufflink down to anything else - the only notable difference (besides the alloy) is that the lettering continues around the top of the bust, whereas it does not with the online examples I found. Whatever it is, it’s rare as can be, because I simply can’t find another single example anywhere.
Omg that cufflink is amazing how wonderful that you have found it
Thanks Dwight! Definitely an amazing piece of history!
great cuff Steff congrats doing the research and discovering the history almost equals the find itself great stuff
Thank you! Definitely rewarding - now, I just need an expert to confirm. Who that expert is? Not a clue lol.
What a great hunt you two and some Awesome finds.I enjoyed your video Stef.
Thanks Jimmy! 😊
That's pretty epic I see some kind of bust on there for sure. Is there silver underneath? I'd say try electrolysis could get rid of that crust and reveal silver, but. Not really something you want to restore yourself. Great find, Happy Hunting!
Thank you! They’re copper, if there was ever any silver on these, it was a silver wash that’s degraded over the years. There’s definitely lettering around the edge as well, driving me nuts that I can’t read more of it!
Congratulations on that cufflink.
Thank you!
Nice find Patrick!
He had a great day!
Thank you!
Oof, man that cuff link is so cool!!
Thanks! May or may not have a match to it coming up in a video. 😉 What a set to have in my collection! 😄
A great field with many relics ! That is some great finds stef! I cant make out much on the cufflink, but I hope you land a positve ID. Thanks for another great video as always. John
Thanks for watching! I’m hoping this particular video reaches a broader audience than usual for the sake of positively identifying the find. 🤞🏻 I’m heavily leaning one way, but I’m always open to being wrong!
Nice find Stef, I hope you can get it positively ID'd.
Thanks Brian! Me too. Hopefully I can gain access to some archives that I just haven’t tripped across yet. Whatever it is, it appears no others have been found!
Awesome cuff links, as well as other finds.
Thank you! Was a great day for the first time on that field this Fall season!
Awsome Steff
Thank you! 😊
Nice finds!
Thank you!
Too awesome Steff and awesome hunt for both of you! Cuff link does look very promising indeed! I hope you find a 100% positive ID and share with us. Met you at Digstock this year and enjoy your channel. Happy Holidays to you and yours… 😎🥳
Awesome! I wasn’t running on much sleep at Digstock, lol, but it was a blast! 😂 Really hoping for that 100% positive ID. I may need to have some Canadian friends see if they can pull French advertisement archives or something, not sure what else to do!
@@StefDigs maybe try the National Archives for direction, there has to be a reference somewhere to help. I hope you find the missing cuff link with more details.
@@fishingknotcatching9182 you’ll be in for a surprise a few videos from now. 😉 I’m getting closer to the ID!
The "It's a piece of crap" graphic/music cracked me up! I really hope your cuff link turns out to be GW. It's already cool enough as is but I understand as a fellow detectorist that GW is pretty much the U.S. Holy Grail of metal detecting finds. It almost seemed like you teased that you might have found another one in the following weeks...? Academically, this will offer you no evidential support whatsoever, but as soon as you picked up your last find in this video I said outloud, "Free Masons!" before you had mentioned it on screen. So, my gut instinct said the same thing yours did. Could be that the G (or whatever other symbol) in the middle may have broken out with the rest of the item. My second guess is that it's a broken watch winder... maybe a broken Free Masons watch winder, lol. Great video as always! You find such cool stuff! GL&HH!
Haha, thanks! I meant to give you a compliment on one of your last videos because that intro took HOURS to film and edit, I know! 😆 I just want to know the 100% ID of the cufflink…s. 😉 At least I’ll be taking a holiday break from UA-cam and I have other stuff in the pipeline footage-wise before the other one does or doesn’t pop up. 😆 Hoping to have more leads by then! 🤞🏻
@@StefDigs Well, thank you Stef! Yeah, that intro DID take hours...almost bit off more than I could chew on that one, haha. Thanks for noticing! Will be interested to see what you find out about the cufflink(s) 😃 Enjoy your break from YT - I am [mostly] going to be doing the same. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you!
@@meandmyshadow6269 Merry Christmas to you, too! Hope Santa brings you a Paleo smoker at the end of a long day - you know, for the extra rewarding feeling after the miles are put in, hah! Looking forward to more videos!
That was a fun one!
Yes it was! 😊 If it wasn’t for “the find,” I’d have called this episode “Opening Day.” 😆 It’s always hot on that first rip of the season.
@@StefDigs yup!
I'd say it very well could be one of those cufflinks
Can’t find anything remotely similar, and the size and shape is conducive with late 1700s cufflinks… the signs are pointing in that direction!
Let’s go, let’s go treasure and adventure🌺💕🎉✌️👵🌎🇺🇸
You know it! 🤘🏻
Very cool cufflink! Hopefully you remember where you found it and can go back to see if you can find the other half but I definitely see a bust on that part! On another note, I want to attend an event next year and am wondering if you have plans to attend any. Great video as usual and thank you! ❤
Thanks Elisabeth! Don’t worry, I went back, and riiiiight in that immediate area… 😉 I’m planning on BONE but haven’t confirmed it with Debbie yet, although I’m guessing she will appreciate the help and I’m the closest Detexpert to that event, so I carved it out of the calendar! 😊
@@StefDigsOoh, sounds like we'll be getting a follow-up video? I can't wait! And good to hear about BONE - I'm pretty sure I'll be going as well but am hoping for more info on the sites - no more cow pastures for me! 😂
@@elisabethcole2571 haha, that electric fence was outrageous! 😆 Hopefully we won’t have one of those again. 😑 And yes, a follow up video is coming!
@@StefDigs Yay! I can't wait for next week!! ❤
I’m going to vote it is indeed a rare version.. Hoping for you that I’m right. Wtg! 👏👏👏👍
Thank you! I may or may not have the complete set now. 😉 More to come!
@@StefDigs 😯 😳🙌
Hey Steph, why don't you hunt with the large coils? Professional curiosity for my reference only.
I do occasionally - I just got the M15 for the Manticore at the same time as the M8! 😊 All depends on the sites I’m working with, and obviously the 15” wouldn’t be appropriate in a cornfield. My go-to is the stock coil since it’s the most versatile. 15” is saved for hayfields or large areas of the woods where I want to cover some ground to find activity.
Ya know they used to put gold in folded spoons!...❤
Alas, it was only full of dirt. 😂
this Hobby is Amazing we never know what we will find but in the end. i look at all my stuff i find is priceless i could never sell anything i find . hope you find that other piece of cuff link
I can’t bring myself to sell anything either. 😂 I may have found the match… 😄
@@StefDigs ooo im sure ill find out in the next video
@@williamstewart1378 I have to look back at my footage, because I think the 2nd one was a few outings after the first, hah!
@@StefDigslove it.. congrats
@@williamstewart1378 thank you! So nice to have the set! 😄
Such a knowledgeable sweetheart!
I do my best! 😂
That cuff link does look promising, have you tried holding a flashlight at side angle to it? It may help, nonetheless great history Stef 😉🇨🇦
Thank you! Oh, believe me I’ve done everything - louped it, louped it with side lighting, LED lighting, I even took a piece of paper and placed it over the cufflink, then rubbed it with a pencil. I can see a couple of letters here and there, but still can’t 100% confirm. I’ve lost SO MUCH sleep over this. 😂
That shell design, Boy scout Bolo?
No, it’s VERY heavy brass. 😬
Woohoo
Woot woot! 🤘🏻
Can’t wait for you to find out what this may be. You have a lot of people and references to help you out. Thanks for the great video. Scott
Thanks Scott! I definitely have some wonderful people who are eager to help whenever I need an ID, but so far nobody has been able to find a match except what I initially found online and put in the video. 🤞🏻
It is very exciting and look forward to an update.
@@scottshawwoodworking1752 thanks! Hopefully I’ll have a lot more info by the time the other one is found in a video. 😉
Great video, as always stay dirty 👍
Thanks Wayne!
You’re so full of treasure mojo it’s ridiculous! Congrats on the cufflink but also in regards to Patrick, always clown your hunting partners. It’s just the way it has to be. Me and my digging buddies give each other hell and that is the way.
Thank you! I get lucky every so often. 😂 Yeah, we give eachother crap in the field all the time, lol! I had people commenting for a while that I was “being mean” to him. They must not be detectorists who hunt with others, haha! The real gems happen OFF camera. 🤣
@@StefDigs I get called “treasure vampire” a lot which is probably the nicest compliment. lol
@@GetThatTreasure Patrick has greeted me with, “sup, sl*t?!” before we get started some days… I’m a sl*t for the relics, alright. 🤣 I’d put in the whole word, but who knows what gets flagged these days. 🙄😂
@@StefDigs it do be like that. With that said I’ll always think of you as a relic sl*t from now on.
@@GetThatTreasure oh, why thank you. 😂 @TheFinderGuy look what you’ve started! 🤣
