Death metal is generally in a whole range of tunings. Generally, the brutaler bands use a tuning between Bb - Db. There are some bands (like Odious Mortem and Psycroptic for example) who use a dropped tuning. Usually, more bands use the standard string intervals. It doesn't really matter, it just comes down to what you prefer.
is most or all of death metal generally in a standard tunning? I play in a drop tunning Bb or A# I prefer saying Bb. I love my tunning because it gives me the freedom of a one finger slide power chord along with a few other cool chords that would be impossible to play in a standard tunning. I am just curious. right now you the authority on death metal guitar to me. :)
Hahah, my lead playing is pretty shit really. I've always been more into rhythm guitar, I tend to get bored with playing leads quickly and therefore have never focused too hard on it.
Thats the most metal shirt I've ever seen you wear Tim.
