Apparently now we have to double and triple check not only the ingredients inside of products but also the product amount before we buy. I hate having to investigate every single makeup product before I buy it.
Everyone should have always looked at the amount in packaging & compare. Any foundation that has less than 30mls never gets purchased by me. None of it is hidden either, it's all there to help us all determine what you should purchase.
I mean obviously not everyone looked at the packaging for this specific product, so it does get overlooked. Usually when I'm buying makeup I'm buying a pretty decent amount of it so I don't cross compare every single item 🤷♀️ I'm a mom of two toddlers, I don't have time for that. Probably bc it's a different formula of liner ink than most other brands. Depending on the viscosity, volatility and stability of the formula, changing the size of the cartridge may require changing the size of the applicator tip and the cap, which may change the performance of the product. Designing, patenting and manufacturing custom components is extremely expensive. Using the same cartridge, applicator tip and cap is cost-effective and ensures consistency of performance regardless of the size purchased by the customer. Printer ink cartridges are the same way. The sample size that you get with the initial purchase of the printer has less ink in it than the regular and jumbo sizes, but they all use the same size cartridge. And as a final thought, one thing I've learned in makeup is that a larger volume of product doesn't necessarily mean a longer product lifetime. Formulas vary by weight significantly. Just because one type of ink liner has 4x the volume of product doesn't mean you'll get 4x the number of eyeliner applications. ... side note, never thought I'd defend KvD, but Imho, this "scandal" is pure BS.
Anastacia Zara I agree with you for the most part and understand how difficult it is to change those things when it’s all designed to work a certain way. But there’s NO WAY (lol) that the tube that houses the product needs to be that much larger than what you actually get. The container could have been shortened to match the amount of product inside but that would make it look unappealing cause it would be small(which makes this more of a marketing tactic than quality issue). This isn’t something that is an easy fix I get it but whoever it was who came out with this design did it to deceive consumers into thinking they’ve gotten more product. I know she puts what you get on the side but fuck how many people actually look at that? Some people still don’t know makeup has a shelf life when it’s written on the back of every makeup product in their collection.

The additional cost of manufacturing a shorter interior tube - that no one will ever see unless they break open the product and remove it from the barrel - could be high enough to render the trial size liner unprofitable at it's current price point and will cut into the profits of the full size. KvD is getting a better price on the component because she's only ordering one standard size; the per unit cost of each cartridge would go up if she was ordering a smaller quantity of two different sizes. There's nothing deceptive or sketchy about this; it's smart business. No one is making a purchase decision based on the size of an inner cartridge they can't see. Everyone who is "outraged" about this might as well be complaining that the Mad Max Brown tattoo liner cartridge is deceptive because it's made of black plastic instead of color-coordinating brown plastic. It's the interior cartridge; no one sees it. It's size and aesthetic appearance are irrelevant to the perceived value and desirability of the product. Most people don't pay attention to the specific amount of product on the label, but everyone knows a smaller size component will contain less product than a larger size. i thought i was the only one oml thank god. i thought i just got an insanely janky product out of the batches because for all the hype, the product wasn’t even all that great and it lasted for such a short time. i use clinique’s liquid eyeliner and that hoe stays on 5x longer than kat’s 😒. didn’t want to support a mother putting her child at risk anyway ✌️

I have been using Physicians formula eye boost eyeliner for YEARS. Its a total dupe for Kat Von D( its even made in Korea). It also has a brush rather than a felt tip. I use it almost every day and there is so much damn product in it. I've yet to run out.

Tattoo ink doesn’t stain. At least it never did my skin. When you clean it with soap / wipes it goes quite easily :) but it stained one of my T-shirt’s forever so... 😂

It would be very easy to test if someone took one piece of the paper drawing lines on paper and used the full-size one until it ran out and then they did the same thing with the travel size one if you get more lines with the large one and you know it does have more in it! The art community does this all the time with pens and markers.

Bianca Delgado yea i have hooded eyes too! My eyelids get oily during the days but the eyeliner stay on perfectly 👌 and if u make a mistake its easy to take off too because it dry down not too fast so u got the time !!

I bought Kat Von D's tattoo liner once. It is garbage. It would dry up as i was drawing it on my eye. I would have to shake it and hold it upside down for a bit and then try again. I switched to wetnwild megaliner. It has 3.5ml in it! Kat's doesnt even contain 1ml! Best ever and never going back. Thank you wetnwild! 💕💕💕

While I don’t care for the Wet and Wild liner too much I absolutely hated the KVD Tattoo liner for the same reasons as y’all. It dried up so quickly, definitely not worth the money. I love the NYX Epic Liner.
I used to use the KVD tattoo liner but I was tired of paying $25 and having it dry up in a few months. I switched to the Iris Beauty eyeliner because I had never seen anyone try it before and it's the best eyeliner I've ever had and it's literally only $12. Never going back to KVD again

@@Deecams I actually don't know for sure how long mine lasts. I had the first one for about 6 months before I accidentally didn't put the lid on one time and it was dried out after that, obviously. So I bought a second one and I've had this one for about 6 months with no issues. It's not as dry as the KVD one so it's easier to work with. I've had times where I forget to wash it off at night and I wake up and it's still pretty much in tact. I've cried in it and it hasn't moved. Sometimes I'll have to touch up like one spot but for the most part it's pretty durable. The only time I've had it really budge is if I go and really rub my eye. I'd say it's worth every penny. The only thing I have negative to say is that it's not quite as matte as I would like but neither was the KVD one. It's not shiny or anything, it's just not completely 100% matte which is what I like.

Please watch the Beauty News’ video on this “scam” because they debunked it. There was more product (double the amount) in the larger size it was just the same sized tube like you mentioned. They proved it by opening it up and showing the actual liquid inside both. A lot of companies do this as it enables the product to come out smoothly and better quality, as Kat Von D explained herself. I personally believe there’s no scam here, she’s not misleading anyone since she’s labelling the amount of product on each eyeliner. It’s just people wanting drama where it’s not needed and people who jump to conclusions way too fast.
Yep! It's like using 2 bottles that each can contain 1L, yet one is filled half way and the other one is full. It's no rocket science thay you CANNOT determine the amount of product judging by the container size.

Except the packaging tells you how much you're getting - 0.5mls. A standard Australian Metric teaspoon hold 5 mls of liquid.....you're buying 1/10 of a teaspoon, regardless of the packaging size. Not the company's issue if you don't know how small a volume 0.5mls is/don't understand metric volumes. How much do you think 0.55mls is? 1floz =30mls.

Probably bc it's a different formula of liner ink than most other brands. Depending on the viscosity, volatility and stability of the formula, changing the size of the cartridge may require changing the size of the applicator tip and the cap, which may change the performance of the product. Designing, patenting and manufacturing custom components is extremely expensive. Using the same cartridge, applicator tip and cap is cost-effective and ensures consistency of performance regardless of the size purchased by the customer. Printer ink cartridges are the same way. The sample size that you get with the initial purchase of the printer has less ink in it than the regular and jumbo sizes, but they all use the same size cartridge. And as a final thought, one thing I've learned in makeup is that a larger volume of product doesn't necessarily mean a longer product lifetime. Formulas vary by weight significantly. Just because one type of ink liner has 4x the volume of product doesn't mean you'll get 4x the number of eyeliner applications. ... side note, never thought I'd defend KvD, but Imho, this "scandal" is pure BS.
Anastacia Zara I agree with you for the most part and understand how difficult it is to change those things when it’s all designed to work a certain way. But there’s NO WAY (lol) that the tube that houses the product needs to be that much larger than what you actually get. The container could have been shortened to match the amount of product inside but that would make it look unappealing cause it would be small(which makes this more of a marketing tactic than quality issue). This isn’t something that is an easy fix I get it but whoever it was who came out with this design did it to deceive consumers into thinking they’ve gotten more product. I know she puts what you get on the side but fuck how many people actually look at that? Some people still don’t know makeup has a shelf life when it’s written on the back of every makeup product in their collection.
@@marierieful I don't think this is a marketing decision. This is the most cost effective way to manufacture two different sizes of the same product. The additional cost of manufacturing a shorter interior tube - that no one will ever see unless they break open the product and remove it from the barrel - could be high enough to render the trial size liner unprofitable at it's current price point and will cut into the profits of the full size. KvD is getting a better price on the component because she's only ordering one standard size; the per unit cost of each cartridge would go up if she was ordering a smaller quantity of two different sizes. There's nothing deceptive or sketchy about this; it's smart business. No one is making a purchase decision based on the size of an inner cartridge they can't see. Everyone who is "outraged" about this might as well be complaining that the Mad Max Brown tattoo liner cartridge is deceptive because it's made of black plastic instead of color-coordinating brown plastic. It's the interior cartridge; no one sees it. It's size and aesthetic appearance are irrelevant to the perceived value and desirability of the product. Most people don't pay attention to the specific amount of product on the label, but everyone knows a smaller size component will contain less product than a larger size. There's nothing deceptive going on here. This is a bunch of people with nothing better to do than to create controversy where there is none. Can we please go back to bashing KvD for publicly announcing her refusal to vaccinate her infant in spite of a growing national outbreak of measles?

Tattoo ink doesn’t stain. At least it never did my skin. When you clean it with soap / wipes it goes quite easily :) but it stained one of my T-shirt’s forever so... 😂

I bought Kat Von D's tattoo liner once. It is garbage. It would dry up as i was drawing it on my eye. I would have to shake it and hold it upside down for a bit and then try again. I switched to wetnwild megaliner. It has 3.5ml in it! Kat's doesnt even contain 1ml! Best ever and never going back. Thank you wetnwild! 💕💕💕

I used to use the KVD tattoo liner but I was tired of paying $25 and having it dry up in a few months. I switched to the Iris Beauty eyeliner because I had never seen anyone try it before and it's the best eyeliner I've ever had and it's literally only $12. Never going back to KVD again
MynxJinx how does it wear? Any smudging? I’ve been a faithful tattoo liner user for years but don’t like the price.. but I do love how easy it is to apply and mine usually lasts about 3-4 months.
@@Deecams I actually don't know for sure how long mine lasts. I had the first one for about 6 months before I accidentally didn't put the lid on one time and it was dried out after that, obviously. So I bought a second one and I've had this one for about 6 months with no issues. It's not as dry as the KVD one so it's easier to work with. I've had times where I forget to wash it off at night and I wake up and it's still pretty much in tact. I've cried in it and it hasn't moved. Sometimes I'll have to touch up like one spot but for the most part it's pretty durable. The only time I've had it really budge is if I go and really rub my eye. I'd say it's worth every penny. The only thing I have negative to say is that it's not quite as matte as I would like but neither was the KVD one. It's not shiny or anything, it's just not completely 100% matte which is what I like.

Please watch the Beauty News’ video on this “scam” because they debunked it. There was more product (double the amount) in the larger size it was just the same sized tube like you mentioned. They proved it by opening it up and showing the actual liquid inside both.
A lot of companies do this as it enables the product to come out smoothly and better quality, as Kat Von D explained herself. I personally believe there’s no scam here, she’s not misleading anyone since she’s labelling the amount of product on each eyeliner. It’s just people wanting drama where it’s not needed and people who jump to conclusions way too fast.

It's not a scam though? People have literally tested how. Many times you can write with them, and I myself have owned both. They last VASTLY different amounts of time. Not to mention it saves money on packaging... How else will she fund her child's medical bills after he becomes ill from the nearly irradicated diseases?
I think people confuse scam with purposefully misleading. Because honestly despite being right there no one reads product amount. *shrugs* That said companies do mess with packaging cuz they know we dont intuitively know what these amounts really mean.

Except the packaging tells you how much you're getting - 0.5mls. A standard Australian Metric teaspoon hold 5 mls of liquid.....you're buying 1/10 of a teaspoon, regardless of the packaging size. Not the company's issue if you don't know how small a volume 0.5mls is/don't understand metric volumes. How much do you think 0.55mls is? 1floz =30mls.
