I'm really glad you showed how brutal and complex (but musical) the oscillator and filter voicing can be! I was part of the sound design team and kept finding these incredible sweet spots that in all honesty were not fit for public consumption as factory presets. Thanks for highlighting them as I think they are one of my favourite aspects of the whole machine.
@@mylarmelodies there are lots, you hit on a bunch already. The ability to quantize oscillator modulation independently for each oscillator is great. @The Art of Subtlety Well, I have worked as a hardware design engineer since 1995 and designed dozens of electronic products, what you say might have been true in the 70s and 80s but nowadays the most state of the art electronic assembly factories are all in China. Of course they still have crappy sweatshops that are manufacturing low quality cheap stuff but when you are willing to pay for quality manufacturing, you can have access to electronic manufactures that are more advanced than what is available in North America or Europe. I’ve looked inside the Polybrute and we immediately see that it was assembled in a good factory . The boards are well assembled with no flux residue or crooked components, the solder joints are properly reflowed etc. If you think that a rev 4 Prophet 5 is so much higher quality because it’s made in America, you should know that literally all components of a Prophet 5 are manufactured in China except the wood for the enclosure. So I don’t think that the fact that they are assembled in America raise the quality so much. They could easily find a factory in China that gives them the same quality. And remember that people used to say that stuff made in Japan was cheap and didn’t last... Now look how many legendary classics synths were manufactured in Japan.
Defo try one in person (if you can?!) as I swear I haven’t found the voice count to be an issue in any meaningful way - my favourite ever synth I own (Juno 60) has the same count!

^^ Yes - the Matriarch sounds better, if you want nice analogue sounds … If you don’t want those, then the Summit is a much better proposition than the Polybrute.
Beautiful sounds and great demo of this new Arturia polybeast. This would look great next to my Matrixbrute. Well done mylarmelodies and the team at Arturia.
@@jowlorenz9555 Moog Matriarch - £1,933 // Arturia Polybrute - £2,333 // Admittedly you'll get much more features on Polybrute, and Moog is paraphonic but judging from this demo so far, I don't like the sound at all. But I'm not a fan of any Arturia synth soundwise. Matriarch on the other hand sounds vibey as hell, I even prefer it to Moog One sound...
All we should ever ask for in a synth is character, yet so many sound the same. This one is better than most new ones. In my exhaustive travels I have concluded all I need is a Juno, of any variety.
FINALLY a proper demo. Too many guys playing around with this thing like its one of their modular noise makes or monosynth. You sir, play this like a musical instrument, and you rock it like a Jedi rocks a lightsaber at that . Well done. Now interested in the PB again.
1 like = 1 vote to Arturia for MylarMelodies to keep the PolyBrute. All kidding aside, another superb video and really surprised to hear about some of the weird and unusual features. I also thought that six voices would put it at a disadvantage compared to Sequential synths, but clearly this thing is much, much more than its specifications on paper.
The morph between patches concept has been around for a long time - the Yamaha DX/AN200 supported it. But to do this in an analog synth? That’s insane.
Viscount (Oberheim OB-12) 12 voice digital polysynth had a great morph function and could be controlled via the mod wheel. Though I would much prefer to own the Polybrute!
Omg this synth is absolutely stunning! Thanks for this amazing demo mylar :-) i change my mind on which poly synth i‘d Like to get weekly atm.. I prefer the extensive Feature-set and flexibility of modern digital synths (hydrasynth for example) over the Limited Modulation capabilities and Sound Palette of most analogue poly synths available, but the Sound of those digital synths just doesnt inspire me. Every time i hear the hydrasynth, minifreak, etc. i feel Like Theres something missing. The polybrute is the First synth where i feel Like i wouldnt miss a thing. It combines everything i want a synth to be and Sounds incredible.
Now watching again with headphones on. I guess this is the kind of euphoria a good 'apple' has the punter experience. Fucking lush! nice one mylarmelodies.
Holy mother of micro brute, The morphing automation of patches, wow :) looks like it’s got a similar sequencer to keystep? Great, no fluff just using it as you would to make music with.awesome.
Amazing! Best demo I’ve seen yet! Arturia make amazing synths. I already have the MatrixBrute and I love it. I can really vouch for their build quality, controllability and amazing sounds. The PolyBrute is not just a polyphonic version of the MatrixBrute, it is an entirely different beast and destined to be my next purchase. I also have Moog but I’d have to spend much more to get anything close to the versatility of the PolyBrute.
@@final_mile_music9713 He has a bit of a point. I own and love my Polybrute - it's my dream synth - but it doesn't have that mean deep growl. My cheap Model D clone goes so much dirtier, harder, darker. The Polybrute never gets scary. Not every synth has to be scary! Or even good at everything. One can simply be the best of its own domain. I don't expect my Polybrute to growl like a lion, I don't expect my Moog to sing like an angel. Different instruments. Both are awesome. Get both.
Absolutely brilliant pal, you show just how much knowledge you have of how this synth works, I would love to have half that knowledge, I would love there to be a complete Masterclass like series on how to use this amazing machine, I have one and try to use it but my knowledge is limited, any pointers to any documentation or videos that will describe for instance the modulation section and Arpeggiator, those are an area that I struggle with and seem to be lacking anywhere with help or tutorials, there is a lack of polybrute tutorials it seems, few seem to have the grasp like you demonstrate here. Many thanks again for your Modulation section especially useful ...
thorough & entertaining demo as usual Mylar! Been pinching pennies for over a year--no dining out, no new gear etc--and just a month or two from finally affording a MatrixBrute...and the Poly is born. I'll never keep up the latest/greatest synth buy by saving...guess ruining my credit score is my only hope! cheers
Excellent demo! I Pre-ordered mine in October and still patiently waiting. They were supposed to ship end of November, but their website now says shipping January. I'll be very happy the day it arrives.
Man I was wanting a summit but I think this might be peaking my interest a bit more if I’m honest. EDIT: this is definitely more interesting to me than the summit!
Great demo man! Others have mentioned that it tends to sound somewhat similar to the classic Yamaha CS-70M in tone, and I would tend to agree. But the PolyBrute can get way more aggressive, of course. Looking forward to hearing more of this synth!
@@mylarmelodies Indeed, the CS-70M is not well known compared to the CS-80, but has its own distinct character. They are fairly rare these days so difficult to come by. I was able to try one at the Vintage Synth Museum last year and posted a demo of it... I can definitely hear some similarities with the PolyBrute's tone, particularly sounds like this (not my track): soundcloud.com/shiversss/the-emerald-tablet-of-herbie Anyway really enjoying what I've heard from the PolyBrute so far, especially your drum machine + synth jams toward the end. @@AdamTheAd-vanc3d for the sound aesthetics and the oscillator concept i tend to like the super 6 more, but the polybrute has some fine modulation capabilities, i guess the super 6 is lacking...
The ‘PolyBrute’ and the ‘UDO Super 6’, are two of the most interesting, and expressive sounding new synths. I wish I could take the best features of both, and combine them into one. My hat goes off to Arturia for the built-in multi-effects processor, XY pad, and ribbon controller (all will give this synth a major edge!)
Both sound so great.. The UDO has more of that british smooth hifi sound + binaural, and polybrute just sounds amazing as well. I wish brute came in a smaller variant tho.
Well it’s Morphing there so it’s pushing around a bunch of controls, but I think filters and FM probably or a mix of the two, can’t remember exactly what!
I keep coming back to this demo. It’s just so good and you make it shine. Now what I’m stuck on is this vs Muse vs PB12. For almost $1k less than Muse you lose 2 voices but gain so much more in modulation tone shaping and effects. The Muse sits in the middle with less modulation and effects but the feature set is tuned really well for it and it sounds just so raw and lush like what you’d expect from a Moog. The Arturia doesn’t a bit cleaner to my ears. Then of course there’s the 12 which gains you 4 voices, poly AT, all the previously advantages of the 6 for only $500 more that the Muse. Tough choice.
I hear that! If you have the means I’d really recommend a pilgrimage to a shop where you can compare both - there’s no accounting for taste, I often find in person I feel differently about something vs online impressions, be it thru the way it works, sound, look, feel. Ultimately features are only one part of what makes us connect with an instrument
@@mylarmelodiesindeed. Truth be told every time I go to the music store I just get stuck playing the OBX8 😂. But I did have a go at the PB12 and it was glorious. They didn’t have the Muse yet. Then I think for the price of any of these I could substantially grow my modular system. 💀

Amazing, best review I’ve seen! I need to add this to my list of synths I will own one day
Beautiful sounds and great demo of this new Arturia polybeast.
This would look great next to my Matrixbrute.
Well done mylarmelodies and the team at Arturia.
I haven't heard a synth in decades that sounds as good as this. Walks the line between order and chaos.
I think the opposite, Moog Matriarch although not a "real" poly blows this out of the water big time...
@@Strepite
What is the price difference?
@@jowlorenz9555 Moog Matriarch - £1,933 // Arturia Polybrute - £2,333 // Admittedly you'll get much more features on Polybrute, and Moog is paraphonic but judging from this demo so far, I don't like the sound at all. But I'm not a fan of any Arturia synth soundwise. Matriarch on the other hand sounds vibey as hell, I even prefer it to Moog One sound...
@@Strepite Each to their own. I couldn't disagree more... Moog is oooooverpriced.
All we should ever ask for in a synth is character, yet so many sound the same. This one is better than most new ones. In my exhaustive travels I have concluded all I need is a Juno, of any variety.
It’s so musical and well thought through. I have on eight my Prophet 10 and Pro 3 and it’s a great combo.
Amazing demo!!! This synthesizer sounds incredible.
Wow, you take synths to such amazing places and do the absolute best reviews!
FINALLY a proper demo. Too many guys playing around with this thing like its one of their modular noise makes or monosynth. You sir, play this like a musical instrument, and you rock it like a Jedi rocks a lightsaber at that . Well done. Now interested in the PB again.
Ive watched 4 reviews now of this truly remarkable Synth all of them different all of them brilliant. 🙏
Still the best demo of this.
I've watched this three times. 43:02 is slamming.
“Using morph you can disassociate and disconnect”
I like that
Knobs and sliders aside - these filters in polyphony sound delicious.
Aren't they just, i so prefer this sound over generic tired curtis filter sound.
The morph between patches concept has been around for a long time - the Yamaha DX/AN200 supported it. But to do this in an analog synth? That’s insane.
Did not know that about the DX200 - if ever there was a synth crying out for a modern reissue. Come on Yamaha!
i think the first Nord Wave also had a similar morphing feature
Sounds amazing! Arturia, the new king of analog?
No
@@BenjaminBeak how about the new duke of analog?
@SyncdAlien how about the leper of analog ?
@@BenjaminBeak care to explain your attitude?
@@SorchaSublime I can do it for him. Heeza douche...baaaaag.
Great demo mate. Riding on everyone's astonishment. It is safe to say that, Arturia.........have flexed! Brilliant.
Now watching again with headphones on. I guess this is the kind of euphoria a good 'apple' has the punter experience. Fucking lush! nice one mylarmelodies.
It's on the way.
Best demo of the PB so far!
I have no idea how anyone could listen to this and not want this synthesizer.
@The Art of Subtlety It’s not for delicate flowers.
To thin sounding , no oompf to the sound , good for bandpass sweeps , i think japanese will like it ,
@@cnfuzz Yeah, like the Jupiter 8.
@@cnfuzz Are you joking? You came to that conclusion watching a compressed UA-cam video?
I'll never keep up the latest/greatest synth buy by saving...guess ruining my credit score is my only hope! cheers
Hah, now that is timing! Have fun!!
This was a great showcase / demo of a great Synth I cannot wait to own in due time 👏🏽🔥
Seez ya bro👍🏿 agree great synth
Excellent demo! I Pre-ordered mine in October and still patiently waiting. They were supposed to ship end of November, but their website now says shipping January. I'll be very happy the day it arrives.
Incredible synth and epic demo, thanks!
Sounds absolutely brand new but familiar. I’d love to own one eventually. That’s stereo stead is breathtaking
It sounds alive. It definitely has it's own personality. I like it more and more. If I only had the funds....
Man I was wanting a summit but I think this might be peaking my interest a bit more if I’m honest.
EDIT: this is definitely more interesting to me than the summit!
It seems like the Summit would be killer for a live rig!
probably the best synth demoer on youtube..
🙌
I must say, the more I listen to this, the more I love it!
Waldorf Q used to have a morph facility and it was a very good feature, but on an analog beast like this,,, wow !!!, great video 👍
Great demo man! Others have mentioned that it tends to sound somewhat similar to the classic Yamaha CS-70M in tone, and I would tend to agree. But the PolyBrute can get way more aggressive, of course. Looking forward to hearing more of this synth!
That’s interesting - I’ve played a CS-80 and CS-5 but never the CS-70m - that “inbetween” CS range always seemed quite mysterious!
@@mylarmelodies Indeed, the CS-70M is not well known compared to the CS-80, but has its own distinct character. They are fairly rare these days so difficult to come by.
I was able to try one at the Vintage Synth Museum last year and posted a demo of it... I can definitely hear some similarities with the PolyBrute's tone, particularly sounds like this (not my track): soundcloud.com/shiversss/the-emerald-tablet-of-herbie
Anyway really enjoying what I've heard from the PolyBrute so far, especially your drum machine + synth jams toward the end. You have a great creative style and approach, look forward to more if you get the chance. Cheers m8!
Just when I thought I'd moved away from analogue to digital, you pull me back innnnn.....
So many awesome ideas in here. We really need to hear some new finished music from you soon =). Still regularly enjoying videomusik
11:19 mannnnnn that sounds so good
Got goose bumps so many times watching this video. Thanks!
Man... If there was any doubt.. Now,I'm buying this synth.
It’s ace
You really need to demo the UDO Super 6! Your presentations are the most musically inspiring ones out there for me!
Would love to have one of those eventually, it's such a great sounding machine as well!!
Polybrute looks so advanced beside UDO super 6... plus it’s fully analog.
@@petitoiseaubleu Exactly. Its win win for synthworld at the moment. I actually feel more inspired by this over the super 6
@@AdamTheAd-vanc3d for the sound aesthetics and the oscillator concept i tend to like the super 6 more, but the polybrute has some fine modulation capabilities, i guess the super 6 is lacking...
You'll not find a Super 6 preview showing how good it is at BASS. Coz I presume it's not. Floaty pads, but in super dooper stereo!
The lack of stereo spreading of voices is the Novation Peak's most glaring omission. So good!
positronalpha the Peak has stereo spread in the voices. It’s called unison spread but works on patches in unison or not. I use it all the time.
What Dan said.
This is going to make a glorious dub techno chord-stab making machine
Such a great review. I feel like a got a real sense of this beast. Thanks dude!
Just ordered one after watching this amazing performance. Thanks crypto
I have the MatrixBrute and love it, now I want to add PolyBrute to my collection.
yes incredible machine - the polybrute... I'd like to own that one soon!!! thank you for the review-video so much!! best regards, Frank Liebe
A worthy successor to the RSF POLYKOBOL 2, the best sounding polysynth ever made.
Yes it does sound something like it.
That’s a unicorn I know little about, hope to come across one someday!
So at 47:00, Arturia realizes they have to let you keep this synth now, right?
🤞
A cool video to watch while I wait for mine to be delivered. :D
Thanks for making this.
This is a great video. Thanks for posting it!
I am captivated by both of them as well! I just ordered the PolyBrute but man im semi-second guessing myself over the UDO!
I decided on the udo since has an audio in.
Both sound so great.. The UDO has more of that british smooth hifi sound + binaural, and polybrute just sounds amazing as well. I wish brute came in a smaller variant tho.
Great demo
Your demos are so musical.
Thanks m8, music does seem to fall out of this thing to be fair
What's the envelope modulating at 48:15 to get that scratchy swooshy sound? An effect?
Well it’s Morphing there so it’s pushing around a bunch of controls, but I think filters and FM probably or a mix of the two, can’t remember exactly what!
So Dope! X
