Do you know the difference between kinetic friction vs. static friction? License: Creative Commons BY-NC-SA More information at k12videos.mit.edu/terms-condit...
. When you speak out...the air molecules vibrate and transfer the sound took place from one end to other. But its range is limited beacause there is a loss of energy because it face drag which is also a kind of friction in air. A lot of other factor also play important role in sound....like density of air etc etc..
My 4 kids, ages 12, 10, 9 and 5 just watched this and, while they were not excited that I asked them to sit and watch anything involving learning (still summer break) they ended absolutely loving it! Not only did they learn something they are now in the background discussing things that would be cooler, or 'totally not cool' with and without friction. Thank you so much for taking the time to be silly and make something that sounds so boring into something so fun!
Today I had the most random thought - “zero friction surface” so I just typed it into UA-cam to get educated and found this gem at the top - this content is amazing thank you! Old video but glad I came across it
Most drag is from friction with the air, which is why meteors burn up when they fall down to Earth. However the air would have inertia, so you're partially right, but it would still be too little to slow you down if you had to stop quickly. On a side thought, winds would be insane because there is nothing to stop the air from circulating around the globe.
I got shown this today in science but couldn’t understand it because everyone in my class was laughing and screaming and I couldn’t understand Glad I got to watch this
Thank you for this very understanding video. We are learning about this in class and i just don't understand it, but now i do because of you! Thank you!
actually, the violin snairs would just pop out, as the tied knots would have no more friction so the tendancy is going to rip it off the violin. also, that violin playing dude would be lying down on the floor unable to get up.
Rough wood would not eventually make fire. It would make a hot, dense, surprisingly fragile coal. (See? I can be pedantic) Nice video, chaps. Well done.
Without friction I wouldn't have been able to scroll down on my touch screen thus making it impossible to find this video on my smartphone. That would've been a good thing though.
0:28 "that might be good for cars" Hmm, yes, tires, brakes, steering, spark plug, horn, and many more car parts that would be utterly useless. I agree, it MIGHT! Remember, look for the bright side kids!
One time, my class was learning about inertia so the teacher threw a tennis ball at the wall and it ricocheted off the wall,p and hit three people; one in the eye, one on the top of the head, and my forehead. The kid hit in the eye was sent down to the nurse's office.
at 0:18 you see someone on a scooter WITH THE WHEELS TURNING, that would not be possible since the spinning motion of the wheels is a result of static friction. In order for a wheel to start spinning, a torque or force must be applied to the wheel. The force of the static friction opposing the direction of the force prevents the wheels from sliding and in turn begins a rolling motion. In a world without friction, this would not happen, without static friction the wheel would not spin due to a lack of an oppositional force but rather the scooter would just slide.
But, theoretically, as long as it is possible to not go through things (up until a specified point) (such as a wall; you can't, as a solid, go through a wall, at least not until you break it) ,friction exists as they both are the same thing.
i guess kermit goes to mit now
its in his name
He’s also in a permanent choke hold
kerMIT
he always has dude. its kerMIT not kerHARVARD
Listening to your voice makes me want to clear my own throat.
+Mechanik lol same!
+TheLegendVideos same
B.L ditto
Me too
Lol
Voice is without friction
lol
+Prasad Jachak its due to drag(which is also a friction)
BOOM bitch!

That speakers voice is the most annoying thing ive ever heard
Yet he's going to MIT and you're not.
Will that fix his voice?
its not like its his fault but you can something about a voice like that
VeTeqz xeo You can something about grammar like that.
VeTeqz xeo he sounds like a muppet

Funny that the wheels aren't sliding over the floor in a frictionless world
This is the power of Soft & Wet Requiem
That's a fun thought
the scooter's wheels will also not roll without static friction, only slide... you missed a point there
Exactly
Yes exactly!

So you got Kermit the fucking frog to do the explanation.

Thanks for helping my son study for his science test! The videos grabbed his attention and helped him understand. Perfect!

This is really well thought out and funny. Excellent Job!
Simple and to the point. Good explanation of friction, keep it up guys.
"Cars would have nothing to slow them down" At MIT we pride ourselves on having no wind resistance.

Good video guys. I'm going to use it to introduce friction in physical science class.

It’s cringy as hell but way more educational than that one guy who sits at the back of my class who thinks that he’s the smartest person in the world
How come everybody in these videos look n sound weird???????

how could he even walk if there is no friction 👶
03:16. If there was no friction, he wouldnt be able to sit there, he'd be sliding around endlessly.
cody ko would LOVE this

OH YEAH THE LADDER PROBLEM RIP
d/dt(a^2 + b^2 = 100)
2a^1*da/dt + 2b^1*db/dt = 0
2a^1*da/dt = -2b^1*db/dt
da/dt = -b/a * db/dt
Nice video
Keep it up

i stole the friction from the ground
1:12 he fell down as if he got shot by a shot gun......
Atoms are held together with friction so a world without friction would essentially be a bunch of random unrelated atoms bouncing around in space
without friction, that tiny wheel won't even roll
-_-

It wouldn't be good for cars because the tires would have no traction so the car would never move...
*fraction*
I wonder how evolution itself would have turned without friction. Heck, the universe itself would be different.
0:27 so wouldn’t it be nice if your video didn’t buffer
Without friction how could we populate?
if in the world friion didin"t exist we will get hurt.
