Amber Nicole Thurman, a 28-year-old mother, died after Georgia doctors delayed a routine dilation and curettage procedure, ProPublica reported on Monday. Surrounding the fall of Roe v. I grew up back when abortion was illegal. I knew girls who had illegal abortions. I worked in a big inner city ER. We saw young girls bleeding to death after backstreet abortions. We fought for a woman’s right to safe reproductive healthcare. It was a long battle. Now we have to start over.

Remember, there were a lot of people who voted for Trump or stayed home or voted for Jill Stein in 2016 because they weren't 100% on Hillary, or they "wanted an outsider to shake things up and what's the worst that could happen?". This was NOT a sudden death. This unfortunate mother died an agonizing death. She knew exactly what was happening. An incomplete miscarriage is common, painful, heartbreaking, and can be fatal - as it was in this avoidable circumstance. The Supreme Court Justices who voted against Roe v Wade and any judges in her state that prevented the necessary medical treatment should be charged with responsibility for her death and the pain and suffering of her family. Do you contact the dog catcher when you need legal advice??

My son was born at 27 weeks, weighing 2 lbs 1 oz. Two months in neonatal intensive care, one month in progressive care. He's 38 now, a lovely man and a teacher. After such a sudden and premature birth, I had to have a D and C because the afterbirth wouldn't come out. Otherwise, I would have died from sepsis and left my wonderful boy without a parent.
One of my daughters had a baby girl die in utero at 4 1/2 months. After only two weeks post diagnosis, the baby was so decomposed they couldn't identify the actual cause of death. Sepsis was hours away. If she lived in Georgia, she'd be dead now as well. Glad you're okay. You know what you have to do in November.
Made the mistake of getting on twitter. The gaslighting of “it’s not because of laws it’s poor medical care” and “it’s her fault for getting an abortion” just broke me down. The right is so disgusting. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.

A single mother who can not afford to have two more children, who was most likely in a situation where her birth control failed because the average failure rate is 5-8 percent. Now her living child has no mother and you are going to victim blame. Way to go with caring at all about her living motherless child.

This is so sad, her son now has no mother, because of the ridiculous laws of this country. The right wing killed this woman, and now her son has no mother. I tried for years to get pregnant. I was 3 months pregnant before I even knew. This child was wanted. I bled for hours, my ex-husband insisted I go to the hospital, and the doctor did a D & C and saved my life. This was before Roe V Wade was even a law. Thank God I lived in a blue state, and my doctor was allowed to save my life.

Wrongful death lawsuits need to be filed against all that enabled the offensive law to be implemented, the legislators that wrote it, the governor that signed it, the supreme court justices that made it possible, the senators that confirmed them, and the president that appointed them.

Yet, the supposed healers - doctors - monitored her infection spreading, her blood pressure sinking and her organs beginning to fail for 20 hours - she then died needlessly as they watched. Shame on those cowardly doctors who knew exactly how to save her life and instead watched her die and submitted to fear of male, right-wing zealots. Shame, shame, shame!!! Amber had a six year old boy!! Of course those doctors will never explain their complicity in his mom's death to the poor boy!!

The surgery for a d&c was complicated, and i needed to return for additional care. Without legal medical care I certainly could have died. WE MUST CHANGE THESE NEW LAWS!!! VOTE HARRIS/WALZ

Every girl and woman who dies because of this was once a precious newborn baby. So are "pro-lifers" pro-death as soon as a baby becomes old enough to get pregnant? I think so.
They're pro-misery or death from earlier than that; The GOP (most of whom claim to be pro-life) have slashed the funding for so many programs that help those children AND mothers post-birth. They're all about protecting the fetus, but to hell w/ it after it's born.
And too bad for that mom who has to figure out how to pay for the thousands an uncomplicated birth costs + no guarantee her initial heal-the-gaping-uterus-wound 4-6 weeks will be paid for.
I've had a few co-workers who were back to work in as little as 2 weeks post-birth because she couldn't afford to be unpaid longer than that if she wanted to keep a roof over her (now 2) kids' heads even w/ her fiance's help.

John These horrible cases were presented to the Republican Legislature in New York in 1970. A Republican governor, Nelson Rockefeller, signed the abortion access bill passed by a Republican legislature preventing these kinds of deaths among women. 1 out of 6 pregnancies experience glitches That's 166,667 out of every 1,000,000 pregnancies. That is a lot of women who could need reproductive healthcare. Way to go State Republicans. The other thing is the woman is already a mother, with a child to raise, who has connections with the community. So are Pro lifers pro life for the mother or are mothers simply incubators in the eyes of forced birthers?
