    Stoked to see my bike in the bike vault! So funny to hear y’all try to pronounce Boise 😂. I grew up in Alabama and just moved here a few years ago and had to learn myself - always thought it was like “boy-z” but it’s more like “boy-c”. Cheers!

    Steve, there are lots of comments about the weight of these MGU bikes. But no-one is talking about the weight of the riders. I can understand a rider who weights only 65kg then a 25 or 28 kg bike will feel heavy. I weigh 102kg and my MGU bike is 28kg and I find it no problem at all to pick up and move around. You also commented on the weight of the bike making it very steady as you ride and I would agreed with this. Perhaps lighter riders may want to either get used to riding a heavier bike or stick to lighter bikes. My bike is a Simplon Rapcon Pinion with the 960wh battery and I love it.

    Steve I still believe that weight has everything to do with ebikes . The thing is 20kg is fine 18 to 19 is great as these bikes are planted compared to acoustic bikes but still playfully . 23/24 kg just looses the poppy playfully fun part of mountain biking along with more mass to stop.

    Hi guys. Great show. New to EMTB. Got a Canyon Spectral On last week and loving it! Still on the learning curve!….. but….. got an email from Canyon this morning saying they have a problem with some battery’s cracking! My battery is in the list. I’ve been told not to use the bike and they will get back to me in December!!!??? Over 4 weeks and I can’t use my new bike? Not a great start to my electric journey!!

    Why do they insert a plastic gear while the rest is metal? Assuming this plastic gear will wear out rapidly unless it is made of some new space age material?

      @@johnnywallace8123 One would think that with today's engineering design capabilities ... this could be figured out. Just doesn't make sense to use plastic gearing against a metal one ... designed obsolescence. Not buying into that, not with all of the technology and material science that is out there. It's a good motor, but these companies need to do better, especially with the what they cost.

    Isn't it time to call on the manufacturers to build maintenance free suspensions? Cars have suspension systems that need no periodic maintenance. It's time that MTB's suspension Forks and Rear shocks follow suit. Maintenance on Suspension is a pain and an unnecessary expense.

    • @picassoimpaler3243
      @picassoimpaler3243 2 місяці тому +1

      Sort of different. Firstly, any high performance suspension needs consistent rebuilds to keep the ride quality on the edge of perfection and consistent. Car, motorcycle, or bike. If you have a motorcycle or sports car with aftermarket suspension, give it a rebuild. The same benefits will show up. Suspension fluid becomes old and changes properties of damping regardless of what it is in. Particularly if it is worked hard over a long stroke, soaking up heat like on a MTB. That's part of why baja cars need a suspension refresh more often than cup cars.
      But beyond that, a car suspension controls a lot of weight compared to a MTB. So small changes in friction from seals in a car damper are much harder to notice than in a MTB damper. Plus car dampers are fully filled with oil. That won't fly on a MTB because of weight.

    • @embn
      @embn  Місяць тому

      Cars are enormous and heavy and still require maintenance. A wheel bearing for example on a car probably lasts thousands of k's more than on a bike, but they can break and require replacing all the same. Performance Suspension, used in real-world conditions is simply always going to require servicing.

    • @dennisbalgobin461
      @dennisbalgobin461 Місяць тому

      @@embn I have owned cars over the past 5 decades. Never have any of their suspensions (front or rear) needed maintenance or replacing within the first 10 years of their lives. Perhaps the British and European cars' suspension systems need frequent maintenance like the Rockshox and Fox suspensions found on your EMTBs. As for Parts wearing out and breaking, that is a whole different issue which is not the topic of this conversation.

    If new bosch motor is only update why is incompatible with old batteries? Why new batteries is not compatible with gen4 motor? Sorry but all this "it is only update" is simply lie...

    • @Kev2Bee
      @Kev2Bee 2 місяці тому

      Battery design is neither a fixed, or single technology. Improving discharge rates and energy density are just two aspects that have changed this past year, so far. Backwards compatibility is not a guarantee.

    I absolutely HATE Bosch!
    Had I known about "Limp Mode" before investing almost 10k in 2 bikes, I would have invested my money elsewhere.
    Picture this, you've just finished a 12 hour shift and it's 8 miles to get home, and then you discover "Limp Mode" and end up having to walk home, which was almost an hour and a half of rage walking!
    And now, after it's happened 3 times I've got to spend even more money to get Bosch to reset my bike, which should not ever happen to a supposedly valued customer.
    Never again will I buy Bosch, what gives them the right to act like the UK Ebike Police?!
