I’m nearing 8000miles on my Gen2 turbo Levo and other than an intermittent power cable (covered by warranty) this bike has been rock solid and never left me wanting for anything more. I’m continually impressed by its range, power, uphill capabilities and its downhill stability. Simple is better. Power, weight and reliability beats lightweight delicate ebikes. As for cost, sometimes you actually get what you pay for and that’s been true for everyone I know who has a Specialized ebike. Haters gonna hate, but one day on a Specialized ebike will have them falling in love.

There are LOTS of great EMTB's out there, not just Specialized have bikes that work great.
In a year they are all outdated by new offerings and value drops big time, so its much better to just keep riding what you have. Specialized and TREK each charge a big premium for the name, like 2K on a high dollar bike. Thats just how it works.

I have a 2020 levo and while I have been critical of specialized elitism I have to admit the brand has done right by me. The bike has been awesome. I ride a couple days a week and beat the snot out of the bike and it continues to impress. They doubled my warranty and yes I did need to have my motor changed at 2 years in but for my bike to be in the shop for a week I had a quick turn over time and a brand new motor. I have heard a lot of comments about their bikes but I’m extremely happy with my bike 4 years in. The company and service won me over. A freaking awesome bike.

What I want from Specialized and any other manufacturer is to dump derailers and move on to internal gearboxes/motors like the Pinion. Competition is needed to bring the costs down. I’m tired of the constant maintenance. Thanks for the show.

I love the Specialized Levo and have owned two of them. My only complaint is the Brose motor, my first Levo was a 2019 Expert and the belt failed on the motor at 800 miles. Specialized was very good replacing the motor at no cost to me. I traded that bike in for 2022 Specialized Levo Pro and just recently again the Brose belt failed at 1,600 miles. But this time I was offered a replacement motor for $600.00. I opted to have the motor rebuilt and upgraded by “eBike Motor Repair”. Because of all the riding down time with motor failures, I was forced to purchase a backup 2022 Orbea Wild eBike. 😢

Transmission is the key to innovation in modern mountain biking, if you still release a bike with cassette and derailleur system today is already old because that's the weakest part of the bikes today... talking about reliability is absolutely agreeable but seriously transmission on e-mountain bikes needs a serious revolution otherwise you're talking about nothing.

I bought a 2023 kenevo comp last fall. Been a fantastic bike so far. Ride it hard, hasn’t let me down yet, around 1,000km on it to date. It’s wicked on rocky tech trails, bombing dh trails with non-lift access, and any trails with some decent elevation. For some tighter xc trails its a bit much bike but I’ll just ride a diff bike for those trails.

I live in Scotland and ride in all kinds of weather, I have the 2022 kenevo full power, it's a brilliant bike, capable and confidence inspiring up or down. The only thing that bothers me is motor reliability, I am.on my second motor and like I say i live in Scotland and need the bike to be fully weather protected, I do have the weather. Kit fitted when the new motor was put in but surly for UK riders all the ebikes should come with as much weather protection as possible to keep the crud out the motor.

The current levo is a great bike as an all round package. Not always the best value for money, but everything is better integrated than most other brands, plus there are often good sales on them. The only thing that im less keen on is the asthetic of the motor housing. I expect that will be addressed in the future. Dispite being out for a while its still a benchmark model.

What did you know in 2018 with the 1.3 aluminium silent ,smooth, powerful motor that you still can't repeat now. I went backwards to get what I and many others want. I've upgraded my Red carbon 2018 Levo with 170mm Fox 38's, Fox DPX2 shock, 9point8 steering head Slacker kit (now 63⁰) 29x3 front and yes 27.5 x3.25 rear with inserts. Seat hard forward to effectively steepen seat tube angle, 150mm cranks, and goodbye derailleurs with a manual change 14 speed Rohloff hub. It really works for me and the silence is golden. The rebuilt motor with better belt and bearings and sealing is quieter and better than the latest brose .Two 500wh batteries is the GO for me.I also have a spare motor... It's my go to bike from the 5 later Emtbs we have. I've learnt that weight actually works for me as I'm only 63kg. E=Mtb²

You can easily mullet the full power Kenevo by fitting it with the 29er boxxer fork lower or you can do a full 29 er front and rear set up no problem. Can also remove the stock 180 mm Boxxer and install a similar size (axle to crown measurement) single crown 29 er fork. Love the way the bikes ride, but needed a new wiring loom in the Kenevo SL plus a new motor at 1700 miles. Needed a new motor in the Levo at 1500 miles. To there credit and a local dealer all done under warranty and quickly too. So I am happy to buy the same brand when I get a new bike.

Bought my first Gen2 Levo Comp in 2019 after looking at all sorts of information from the industry, testing by magazines, EMBN etc. On riding the bike it took a while to get to grips with the power settings, but after tuning my motor in Mission Control it suited my needs and was able to do things (climbing especially) that i'd never have been able to do on my pedal bike. The quality of the build was pretty good, the spec was great, but did upgarde my tyres to Gravity spec to cope with the punishment they took on the downhill flow. I have looked at other bikes and agree that reducing the weight isn't the be all to end all, I like the weight as it makes the downhill flow feel planted and secure. Specialized make damn good bikes, just keen to see what's coming next from them.

They just need a WAY more reliable motor. I have 3 friends with Levos - ALL are on their 3rd motor. My previous gen Kenevo had 3 motors. My current gen Kenevo is now on its 4th!! And I had to pay €600 towards the last one, even though it was within the 4y bike warranty, because the 3rd motor they put in was just under 2ys in and although it was allegedly 'improved over the orignal (and the 2nd one)" it then only came with a 2y warranty. It is absolutely disgraceful!

My Gen 2 Levo has been generally a very good bike but on my third battery in less than four years despite doing everything by the book to care for it.
I live and ride mostly in North Wales hills and more attention needs to be paid to keeping water out of electrical components. Very disappointed to have to pay £450 toward my third battery after the 2nd only lasted 37 charging cycles. I contested it was not fit for purpose but Specialized disagreed. Brought into focus the elephant in the emtb room namely massive purchase price but virtually worthless thereafter. Either we continue to pay extortionate prices for components or wind up with a piece of scrap metal. Much as I love riding , sad to say as a retired pensioner I will struggle to justify buying another bike when my current one becomes uneconomical to repair. If I were to spend the same purchase price on an off road motorcycle , it would continue to have a residual value towards an upgrade for many years. Not so with an emtb.

I had a generation one SL comp put a slack R headset changed the front end to 64°. Then I got a generation three Turbo Levo comp. I ride in the hills behind Laguna Beach. I live up on the hill in Laguna Niguel. I could ride my SL down to the park with no power. And the bike had no drag in the system, it felt like a normal mountain bike. With the Turbo Levo, I always have to have the power on therefore it uses more power from the battery. When you turn the motor off on that bike, it feels like there’s a 20 mile an hour headwind. On the SL I could do three different rides each approximately 10 miles. On the Turbo Levo because I have to use the power full-time I can only do two rides.
I would like a full powered bike that weighs 43 to 45 pounds max. With no drag in the system.

Had to bin those wheels tho’ and the budget rhythum forks. Id like the charge limit feature back in the app it seems to have gone awol and a bit more ground clearance Axel height is good but they could shave a bit off the motor

Well, I agree that reliability is crucial and lightness does not come often with it but I would say reducing the weight is the way to go. The SL should have much more focus as it will attract more analog bikers. Having tried both FP Levo and SL, I better stayed with analog bike than the FP. SL is a game changer, it makes analog bikes obsolete. It is all the bike you need. It just need to get a bot more power and a bit bigger battery. Yes, it would be heavier, but here comes R&D, make it same weight.

  • @kyletriesfitness500

Reliability and durability would be nice.. had my levo sl for 7 months, within 4 weeks the remote on the handle bars packed up and needed to be replaced. It sat at the store for 4 weeks waiting for new unit. After 5 months the motor had permanent failure which was another 2 weeks bike less. The rear hub has also failed and the rear rim is softer than warm butter, bent with an insert and I'm not even running low pressure, 32 psi on the rear. My mates new kenevo sl display just packed up and his rim has also folded already within 2 months of buying the bike.

Glad I bought a Santa Cruz after hearing nothing from these guys. The Kenevo needs the Levo motor to be on par with the competition. As stated in this video more guys prefer more power than less power and less weight. Exactly why I went with the Bullit vs Kenevo.

    • @Grifterbiden
      @Grifterbiden 20 днів тому

I’ll take my full fat aluminum frame Kenevo any day over a bullet. I ride with two guys with bullets they always run out of power due to much smaller batteries, plus I can set up easily as a full 29er, or set up as a mullet or ride as stock with full 27.5. Quick change to 29er front fork lowers on the stock Boxxer fork makes all that possible very easily.

👍You don't need more torque that you can handle. It's why the two stroke 500cc motocross biken is just a memory for collection😂.
I love my Specialized Levo SL S-Works Carbon 1.1 that I built from frameset so much, that I bough one more frameset and built one more to have as a spare bike😂.
These bike have 170mm Öhlin and Fox Factory forks and Fox Factory coli 216x63mm at the rear, Roval carbon wheels, XTR groups hole through.
I have also a Orbea Rise 60Nm total rebuilt with Öhlin 170mm fork Fox Factory coil 216x63mm damper and DT-SWISS mullet 1200 carbon wheels.
I tryed a 85Nm Yamaha moro that I rebuilt to Marvic mullet, Öhlin 170mm fork and Fox Factory coil 216x63mm damper, this bike rebuilt to standard and sold it to my friend hwo need to train😂, because I didn't whant torque, but exercise with a bike easy to handle😉

My shimano motor unit has failed. Motor and torque sensor are both working perfectly, but an internal ($50) cog has worn out.
Shimano offer no servicing or maintenance and the only solution is to replace the entire unit for nearly $2K.
18000km in 5 years and they claim that I should be happy with that.
They want $2K because a $50 cog failed!?
    Off to court we go.

It's only the Levo SL (Super Light) that runs the 320wh batteries. These models can also be used with range extenders. The full power Levo uses 500 or 700wh batteries depending on the spec level.

Why are specialized prices so damn high? And it’s been this way since the 90s. 11000 to 18000 dollars for a bike in Canada is just insane.

  • @lifer7918
    @lifer7918 21 день тому

My gen 3 Levo motor went after one year and 1 day, but specialized were great to deal with for warranty. However they need to allow users to upgrade the TCU to mastermind as software locking is disappointing. Not everyone can afford the super bikes and I wanted aluminium, not carbon. I want to spend money with Specialized for a TCU as my budget allows, but they won’t allow it. Forcing me to spend significant money to upgrade to a new bike, as the only way to get Mastermind, seems unreasonable. For me, it significantly takes away from an otherwise great bike.

Bought a Levo comp alloy 6 weeks ago, out of the box the back rim was broken making a clunk sound on each rotation.
I took the bike to a Specialized concept store in Harrogate and they swapped it there and then fantastic service. Six weeks later the same problem on the front wheel.
Appointment made in Harrogate for Monday fingers crossed they will just swap it again. Just find it ironic your talk about quality. The basic rims don’t seem to be the best for a full power Levo.
But it has been the best six weeks of riding since I started in 2016
