YES! I can relate to just about all of it. Being introverted and self conscious of my appearance probably stops me the most. I only use my smartphone for recording because until I’m more consistent I can’t invest in a camera. I started because I enjoyed editing my videos. Maybe this year I can be a little more consistent. I appreciate hearing your experience. ❤😊
I’ve been on UA-cam for 10 months. Agreed on all points! I’ve seen you tweek things since I first watched your earlier videos…you’re always inspiring! Right now I’m just using my iPhone to film & edit with iMovie. I use my MacBook Pro to upload. Consistency is tough! Even finding the same day of the week to post.
@@MonicaKatie I can totally relate, I tend to focus to much on myself and what I’m saying, so I have not posted myself easy for me to post him fixing things. Shorts have taken off , using a cellphone.
Yes, I recently started a garden channel and a lot of your experiences resonate with mine. I am an absolute introvert, but my passion for garden overpowers the introversion so I am in a good place with that. I too looked around and saw the niches in the gardening channels, but I am glad I decided against choosing just one. I will be doing everything. Thanks for sharing your experience and good luck in the garden this year!
I don’t have a UA-cam channel, but I love to watch gardening channels. I just started watching your channel because Steph from Hooked and Rooted, had mentioned you. I added you to the ones I watch. ❤❤
I have a teeny, tiny channel. I started it because I had a new house with a yard that was abandoned for 10 years. So we had to plow down all the vegetation and plants and start with a completely blank slate. I started my channel because I wanted to document my progress. 2025 will be our 4th gardening season and when I look back I could have never imagined how much we accomplished!!! Plus, I'm super forgetful so its helpful to have a video diary of everything we've done. Half the time I can't even remember what I planted where LOL. Love your channel Roxana and I can personally say you have always been super helpful to me whenever I had a question. Thanks for all you do!
Your yard sounds like the property we bought, same thing, the gardens had not been tended to for 10-15 years! Renovating the gardens and adding more has been so fulfilling but lots of work! Checking out your channel now💚
I have a small UA-cam channel, and the struggle is real. I started it because I really had an itch to create, and I love gardening, and teaching. So it was the perfect match for me, but I am an introvert, and I hate filming in public as well. And I too have this irrational fear that people in my area are going to recognize me 😆 I love your videos, you do a great job ❤
I recently started my UA-cam channel and you have definitely been a great inspiration!❤ I love supporting a Latina gardener like yourself because we definitely need more representation! I can’t wait to see your 2025 garden plans 🙌🏽
I have a small UA-cam channel that I started after both my kids went off to college so I needed something to help me with this very hard transition in my life. I create content to share what I'm doing in my garden, to hopefully give ideas and inspiration to others, and to teach things that I've learned in my garden over the years. I like doing things on a budget and so I like to share my budget gardening tips with others. Creating content is a lot of work but it's also very rewarding in the end. I do enjoy looking back at old videos and seeing how my garden has transformed over time.
I enjoy your channel. When I’m having a bad day, I’ll find a garden tour video of yours with all the beautiful flowers to watch. That uplifts my mood. 😊
I love your channel! Its positively become one of my top 3 gardening channels. I don't care which style you choose for the day, just keep doing what you do😂. Thank you so much.
So as you know, I have a channel. I agree with a lot of this! Consistency is the roughest one for me only because I’m either in a mood or I don’t feel like what I’m doing anyone cares about. Been great to follow your journey and onto a new year!
I do not have a youtube channel but I was here when you first planted your yard divider made up of the limelite hydrangeas and coral bells are my favorite and you under planted the hydrangeas with gorgeous coral bells. Thank you and Im happy to see your videos again.
I have been following your channel for a while because you’re realistic with your channel like mine. You’re not trying to make this multi million dollar business buying more and more land and you don’t have an ego thinking everyone is copying you. You actually want to help people and enjoy it. Although I live in Canada you are a channel that tried to relate to everyone and honestly one of the few. ❤❤❤
As you know, I have a small UA-cam channel where I share the life of our family of 9 gardening and homesteading (on a small scale) in Northern California. A couple struggles I have had: I like to do videos of various styles as well. UA-cam really likes when I put out citrus content, but I don't want to be pinned down as just a citrus content creator because I don't have enough to say about just citrus (though I LOVE growing citrus and enjoy sharing it). I just monetized 3 months ago, and it is so weird because my views dropped a ton once I was monetized… I know they say that doesn’t happen with the algorithm, but it did for me. I can totally relate about being the worst critic of my videos - I can get super tired of hearing my own voice when I am editing. (especially certain times of the month! Lol) Thanks for sharing your experiences and struggles - I always find you very relatable.
Thank you for this candid reflection, and the beautiful b-roll included! Your channel is one of my favorites because it's cinematic and beautifully captures what could be considered mundane and transforms it into the magnificent! The joy you pour into your channel shines through! Yes, I took the plunge and started a channel for a few reasons: Creating content is fun and challenges me; documenting my journey in my zone 10b garden for myself helps me reflect, is encouraging and motivating. I also stared my channel to get over being a perfectionist/"getting it right," and over thinking "it." Working full time outside of the home is a challenge to consistently creating and posting I hope to conquer in 2025. In any case, your content is truly inspirational and motivates me to keep striving. 🌱🙂🙏🏽
I am a "mood" garden UA-camr as well. I have to keep it fun for me to keep at it. I hear you on the pressure to be consistent, I think I have a schedule that will let me do that and still enjoy the process. I enjoy your garden and videos and am inspired to improve my videography when I see them. 😊
That’s exactly why I wanted to start our channel. I wanted my children and grandchildren to be able to see, hear, and learn from us. I taught for many years, the love for it will never change. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
HI! this will be my third season with a gardening UA-cam Channel. I love documenting what I'm doing in the garden. My channel hasn't taken off wildly. Part of me hopes it will in the future, but I'm having fun and that is the important part!
Hello, I always enjoy your channel. I have to say as a small content creator I identified with almost everything you said. I am retired and UA-cam has been a blast for me though I have found it to be hard in that it is not easy to grow on UA-cam as a small channel. Actually I recently learned that if you can get your channel monitized you are in the top 10% of UA-camrs. So even getting monitized is a milestone to be proud of. I have learned so much and it has helped me to personally grow in so many ways. Just as my garden gives me a lot of personal satisfaction , creating videos gives me the same satisfaction. Thank you for summing it all up so well. PS I often think of you when I see my black metal trellis on my fence only I don’t have a honeysuckle on it. 🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸
You’ve really inspired me to start annuals from seed, especially coleus. I’ve never been able to spend much on annuals because they’re so short lived- it feels like a waste of money. But your beautiful coleus really got my wheels turning and now I’m planning a ridiculous amount of seedlings for the spring 😆
I watch UA-cam rather than post on it, but I found this video fascinating and helpful in understanding the creator’s world. So often, bloggers say they are introverted by nature but yet they put themselves out there for anyone to see. For you, Roxana, I love your various styles and hope you never change the variety of videos you offer. Your background in photography shows in what you create but I am glad you are finding a way to be more relaxed in doing your posts. Every video you produce teaches something. I look forward to many more days/weeks/years of “time with Roxana.” Thanks for all you do.
I really enjoy watching your videos. I too have a youtube channel, for very much the same reasons as you. I wanted to leave memories for my children and generations of grandchildren in the future. How amazing would it be to watch videos of my grandparents. Priceless! Also like you I am embarrassed when someone in person saw a video. In public I hide my phone then voice-over because I am too embarrassed to talk out loud while filming in public. I have fun making videos, I am not monetized yet but I enjoy it.
I have watched your vlogs for over a year now. I like your niche. Each one of my favorite UA-camrs have a certain style that makes me tune in. You are one of my favorites. Happy New Year…Best wishes on the success of your garden this year. I can’t wait to see what you have in your lesson plans for us!
I hear you! The more you do this the easier it gets! A year or two from now things will get faster and you will be a lot better at saving time and doing this on your own.
Hey there!! Yes I have a new channel and can definitely relate!! I do love building my community and making garden friends as most of my real life friends are not gardeners!! So you could say UA-cam “is” my people💚💚thanks for making this video, I’ve watched you for years and adore your channel💚💚
No channel here…..I don’t know enough to have a channel…..I depend on you and others! I enjoy your content!!! You are so appreciated by me! You’re doing a fabulous job !!! Keep on keeping on! I’m a true fan!!! Your videos are wonderful and I’m learning a lot from you! Your videos are so informative and helpful! I’m wanting to get into dahlias now! And I’m so scared to try! Keep encouraging us!!! Never doubt yourself!!! You’re teaching us SO much!!!❤❤❤
I don't garden to create content, I garden, so I create content 🔥 I can relate to so many of your points! Thank you! I'm always watching your channel from my TV, so I hit Like! I leave my comments on your IG!
New Subbie here! Thank you for posting this video! I started a youtube channel last year showing DIY’s and Gardenning content. And honestly the editing has been the hardest part for me because i want a great quality production. I have so much content that ive recorded and it’s just on my hard drive. But because of this video I’m going to do better and post my content.
I love the variety of your videos. It keeps it interesting. Some videos require a sit down while others don't. You do whatever pleases you. Thanks for sharing your gardening process and journey.
I love all your content, no matter what topics you discuss. I have learned so much from your videos. Keep up the great work! It’s all about sharing and learning and I appreciate your hard work. I wish I had friends or neighbors that are all about gardening, but that’s why I love watching your channel because it’s something that I’m passionate about. 💕
Thank you for making your videos. This and all of your content is delivered with a down to earth, relatable, teaching style that I appreciate. I don’t do UA-cam, but I recently started an Instagram channel. It’s mainly for me as a diary of gardening trials and tribulations, but I also hope it inspires others to try to grow in their tiny, urban spaces.
I do have a couple terrible videos on UA-cam (not gardening) and I so appreciate your sharing this one. I’m so uncomfortable doing them but my customers ask for them often. I really need to get with it.
I like the variety. And I thought your demo on splitting dahlia tubers was one of the most helpful I have seen. Plus its so helpful to see a suburban/urban garden that is focused both on production and landscaping. Maybe its because we living in the same general region (St. Louis here), but it feels like being in a garden club, which is definitely my vibe. I love your channel and I'm really looking forward to 2025. I am such an introvert and I already have a very public/speaky job, but this does inspire me to want to document my garden more. Also, I am really getting into the idea to think about selling cut flowers, small plants, and tomatoes. Again, I really love your channel, and find it super inspiring. I actually LIVE in my grandparents garden - I bought their house. I have just a couple of videos of my backyard from childhood (VHS!) and it is one of the most precious things. I would LOVE to have videos of them actually gardening. It's such a good thing.
I get the “low profile” point!! So awkward with the people I actually know. That’s what is holding me back from starting! Maybe you gave me the final push 😊
Love you sharing your experience on this topic🪴 Too few comments on my channel to relate to the stress of dealing with responding to viewers😅 but I can definitely say that my smartphone is full of clips and videos that I’ve never posted because of some of the reasons you have so beautifully layed out in this video💚 it’s definitely not easy to do it all while also getting bruises and aches from the actual garden work which some of us actually do without any help🏡🪓🛠️💪🏾Sometimes I go out in my garden with the intention of making a good video and I end up spending 30min talking with a neighbors and the rest of the time I just enjoy looking at the plants by myself🧑🏾🌾 Also, because I have already failed miserably in the department of monetization😅 However, I get to enjoy the blessing of being entirely free to post whenever I’m in the mood to do so😊 I mostly view my YTchannel as a garden journal for myself and as a portal or an archive through which my kids, friends or relatives can use to see what I was doing in my garden at certain periods of time💚💚
Unrelated but had to tell about recent spinach germination. I placed a flat outside on the patio in freezing weather because there were tiny white bugs and seen nothing germinating. Then I just had a 💡 moment a few days back and thought-I didn’t wait long enough for germination 😮. I ran out and brought just the spinach in and sure enough they sprouted today.🎉 😂I even forgot to water them when I brought them back in until last night. Lesson learned about waiting. At least the bugs are gone 😂. I think I will winter sow some spinach right in the veg bed where I want them 😉.
Well thanks for making videos. I would like to, but I don’t think I have the time. I can imagine how hard it must be to set the cameras, ect. I enjoy the camaraderie as there are no nearby gardeners that I know and it’s a great outlet to see how others are dealing with weather, or just techniques. Keep up the good work 🎉 The one thing I don’t care for are the creators that are in it only for the money. The ones that you also wonder-‘How does that neck hold up their head?’ The ones that have changed drastically in personality or content from when you started to watch. Lol, then there are those that have viscous faithful followers whether the creator is male or female and their audience hangs on their every word 🤮. You just keep doing your thing. You’re creative and I do enjoy chatting with other gardeners in similar zones and I know you do try very hard to interact while time still allows. I’m a long time gardener, but even we like to revisit old info or see something new-always learning especially with our changing environment.
Hi Roxana cual micrófono recomendarías. Which Microphone do you use. BTW I really hope that you never change because your channel looks organic and that’s what I like ❤
I could do a channel but hate dealing with technology and editing. I’m an extravert. I post lots of pictures on fb and IG instead. Next yr when my gardens are a little more mature, I’m going to invite people over to lunch and look at my gardens. I do an occasional video but had trouble walking the past 5 yrs so it was difficult. My thing is making structures and adding plants.
I SO relate! But I have no channel.😂 I wanted to start one so my kids and grandchildren and their children would be able to have some kind of an idea of who I am. My dear daughter is close to me, but I haven't seen my son for 10 or more years. Sadly, he cut us out of his life 2 years ago. I suspect PTSD from military service.😢 We still love him and pray for him every day. But, you put videos out there and who knows who will see them? And, I am not an introvert. Weird, huh?
I’m curious if people think there are too many gardening channels. What would be the reasons people would decide to watch a new one. There are so many out there now.
@ my husband asked me why I don’t start one, but I have been in a 5 yr long beginner stage of a decorative landscape gardening quest, and basically just to make my property look and feel better.
Thank you for sharing this! I have been making garden content, especially educational content, for a year now. My channel is finally starting to grow and soon will hit the 5,000 sub mark. I work full time as a teacher and we have built a flower farm and we have kids, so I struggle with keeping up with all of the things. How do you balance/schedule your time?? 💚🌱
I wish I had a magical schedule, I make it work day by day. I do try to work during school hours, I stay home so that is easier for me, once the kids get home it's go-go-go with activities or driving them places, things get done one day at the time, you can only do so much, eventually you will find your own way of making things easier and working "smarter" with the time you have available.
@ thank you for the response! Sounds like you ‘wing it’ about as much as I do. It does feel like day by day I just do what I can, one task at a time. Hopefully one day I can just focus on the farm and making content, but for now I am thankful for all of the things on my plate and just try to remember my kids will only be kids once. 🙏💚🌱
@@Joyfulfarmer Oh yes, believe me, you will blink and they will be teenagers doing their own thing. One of the things that has help me tremendously if I don't have the time to "talk/explain" etc, is just recording what I am doing, later on I can sit down and talk about it but I already have the main footage to show people.
Now, I have been using Davinci Resolve and I love it, still learning where everything is, for the longest time I was with Premiere Pro, but almost every quarter I had to get with costumer service because a glitch, so I finally decided to switch and I don't miss the monthly payment either.
I don't blame you for feeling this way about meeting people where you stay. Its a strange world now, and people just don't know boundaries .I have read some stories from UA-cam where some people go too far to meet people. One guy was saying he mentioned his hunting area.Where he and his family go, too.Well this person on his channel put two and two together and just showed up there. This youtuber was NOT pleased because he felt that put him and his family in danger. The person was harmless but everyone is not that way. One youtuber said they put their property up for sale, and a subscriber found the house and was touring it( they had cameras on the property and had moved to their new residence). When she spoke to the person via the speaker system. The lady apologized and called her by name like they actually knew each other. So I don't blame you for being apprehensive with meeting people where you live.
Hello! I’m in northeast Indiana and we are coming together in March with several other AMAZING dahlia grows to have a big tuber sale! Feel free to message me if you want info on it! It would be a great place to replace lost tubers and pick up some hard to find ones!! These growers are real collectors of tuber varieties!!

I don't garden to create content, I garden, so I create content 🔥 I can relate to so many of your points! Thank you! I'm always watching your channel from my TV, so I hit Like! I leave my comments on your IG!
Thank you so much, I appreciate it🌿
9:02 beautiful bouquet!
Thanks for this info. I’m gonna start this year.
Thank you!
I completely understand! Sometimes done is better than perfect IMO, but that is easier said than done.
Great video Rox. You make so many wonderful videos. Have so enjoyed all the different formats. Keep being you!
Thank you friend! 😘🌿☀️
I love all of your videos, Roxana. No matter what style you are using! Thank you.
Thank you so much!
It’s so great to have a community online that shares the same passion! 😊
That sounds lovely, I wish you the best on your Instagram channel! 🥰
I do have a couple terrible videos on UA-cam (not gardening) and I so appreciate your sharing this one. I’m so uncomfortable doing them but my customers ask for them often. I really need to get with it.
You've got this! I'm sure your videos are great!
You inspire me in every single video!
Thank you for that, I appreciate it!
I really like your style and you do look like you are having fun, I actually found you while I was trying to scape from all Covid TV coverage.
That is so sweet, thank you!
I do have a very small channel but I’m introverted and it is very hard for me to get started lol
I have a channel and yes I relate to a lot that you are saying. I would love to talk with you one day. 🥰
Oh wow, living in your grandparents garden is even better, that is goals!
I get the “low profile” point!! So awkward with the people I actually know. That’s what is holding me back from starting! Maybe you gave me the final push 😊
I think you should go for it!
Love you sharing your experience on this topic🪴 Too few comments on my channel to relate to the stress of dealing with responding to viewers😅 but I can definitely say that my smartphone is full of clips and videos that I’ve never posted because of some of the reasons you have so beautifully layed out in this video💚 it’s definitely not easy to do it all while also getting bruises and aches from the actual garden work which some of us actually do without any help🏡🪓🛠️💪🏾Sometimes I go out in my garden with the intention of making a good video and I end up spending 30min talking with a neighbors and the rest of the time I just enjoy looking at the plants by myself🧑🏾🌾 Also, because I have already failed miserably in the department of monetization😅 However, I get to enjoy the blessing of being entirely free to post whenever I’m in the mood to do so😊 I mostly view my YTchannel as a garden journal for myself and as a portal or an archive through which my kids, friends or relatives can use to see what I was doing in my garden at certain periods of time💚💚
It’s nice to be able to share your passion in that way! Keep on trying on monetization, you never know
Great video packed with lots of info.
Roxanne,
Excellent presentation!
Happy New Year!
Thank you for sharing.
Happy New Year to you too!
Unrelated but had to tell about recent spinach germination. I placed a flat outside on the patio in freezing weather because there were tiny white bugs and seen nothing germinating. Then I just had a 💡 moment a few days back and thought-I didn’t wait long enough for germination 😮. I ran out and brought just the spinach in and sure enough they sprouted today.🎉
😂I even forgot to water them when I brought them back in until last night. Lesson learned about waiting. At least the bugs are gone 😂. I think I will winter sow some spinach right in the veg bed where I want them 😉.
Exactly, at least the bugs are gone!
Well thanks for making videos. I would like to, but I don’t think I have the time. I can imagine how hard it must be to set the cameras, ect. I enjoy the camaraderie as there are no nearby gardeners that I know and it’s a great outlet to see how others are dealing with weather, or just techniques.
Keep up the good work 🎉
The one thing I don’t care for are the creators that are in it only for the money.
It’s a lot of work, but it’s very rewarding!
Hi Roxana cual micrófono recomendarías.
Which Microphone do you use.
BTW I really hope that you never change because your channel looks organic and that’s what I like ❤
Gracias! Rode Mic Go is what I use, I LOVE it, you never see it because siempre lo traigo pegado debajo de mi blusa o sueter :)
@@SoilandMargaritas nice ya decía yo que nunca te veo el micrófono ❤️
I could do a channel but hate dealing with technology and editing. I’m an extravert. I post lots of pictures on fb and IG instead. Next yr when my gardens are a little more mature, I’m going to invite people over to lunch and look at my gardens. I do an occasional video but had trouble walking the past 5 yrs so it was difficult. My thing is making structures and adding plants.
I'm sure your garden tours will be a big hit!
Weird, huh?
That is the hope anyways, that one day... one day someone will say..."wow, my abue was young once" :)
@SoilandMargaritas ❤️
I’m curious if people think there are too many gardening channels. What would be the reasons people would decide to watch a new one. There are so many out there now.
Honestly, I am not sure, I only follow a handful of people (The ones I'm invested in) because I can get overstimulated quick :)
Which video editor do you use?
Now, I have been using Davinci Resolve and I love it, still learning where everything is, for the longest time I was with Premiere Pro, but almost every quarter I had to get with costumer service because a glitch, so I finally decided to switch and I don't miss the monthly payment either.
@ Thank you
If I see you while back in your area, I will speak to you! Just warning you.
Please do!
It is super scary sometimes.
@SoilandMargaritas yep
Hey! Yeah, I think someone contacted me about this, it seems like an awesome event!
