Thanks for the memories of a great time. I lived in Worcester Park Surrey in South East England and could receive Essex Radio, Radio City, Radio 390, King Radio, Radio London, Radio Caroline South & North. Then there was Radio North Sea International (RNI) that kept going for many years after the others. Also visited a land based pirate in Sutton, Surrey called Radio Jackie. Great times to have grown up in.
That's a really excellent film, which takes me back to my own few months aboard Sunk Head Fort, working for Eric Sullivan's Radio Tower. I think if anything, our conditions were probably more primitive than yours - I was aboard for a few weeks with the transmitter working, and then for a few weeks more with just one other guy, caretaking the place after the transmitter died! I have been watching a VHS copy of a VHS copy of a VHS copy of a VHS of this film! Thanks a million for posting. I actually visited for a day when I was in a foul mood with dreadful sea sickness - you won't remember. I was left in the TV lounge while others looked round.
Great Job Mark, gives us all a great insight into Fort Life in the mid sixties and a super writing and narration job too. God your radio career has been longer than mine and so many highlights with such a great voice. Get in touch with Golly he's lining up more fun and frolics in the North Sea with a good pay day.
I remember the days of the pirate radio ship, Radio Scotland and what a trimendous station that was then came the day that it had to close down and go off the air, l really did miss the pirate ship radio Scotland. Then came the news that Radio 1 was coming on the air so had to listen to that for some time then some time after that we heard about another station that coming on the air & that was Radio Clyde and that was a great station then came another change we heard that radio Clyde was changing to Radio Clyde 1 & Radio Clyde 2 and that very good news, & as they say the rest is history.

I`ve got a version from East Anglian Productions. This one has more footage on it.
