In THE WAILING (GOKSUNG), the arrival of a mysterious stranger (Chun Woo-hee) in an otherwise quiet village coincides with a rash of vicious murders, causing panic and suspicion amongst the villagers. When the daughter of investigating officer Jong-Goo (Kwak Do-won) falls under the same savage spell, he calls for a shaman (Hwang Jung-min) to assist in finding the culprit.

This is a masterpiece , deeply unsettling and extremely well crafted film making. Left me three days of sleepless nights , probably one the best horror without any jump scares or cliche gimmicks. The director's filmography is filled with these strange enigma that encircles you and leaves you disturbed once viewed.

This movie kept me guessing all throughout up until its end actually. Korean movies especially horror, thriller, and crime never fails to deliver flawless plot. This movie made me love it because the plot seemed really disturbing I almost hate it for keeping me thinking even after credit rolls.

It all started with Oldboy for me. Then I felt compelled to see the other 2 movies of the Vengeance Trilogy: Sympathy for Mr.Vengeance and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. And then it started. Since then I've seen so many masterpieces... Joint Security Area, Memories of a Murder, I've seen the Devil, The Story of Two Sisters, the movie where 2 mobsters arrive to kill their old friend while 2 others come to protect him (would be great if you remind me what's it called).... After all these years I have only one thing to say: Korea, I love you :) Please stay underrated as you are now. The world ignorance towards Korean movies is what keeps them intact - absolutely brilliant, genuine masterpieces, with which not a single Hollywood movie of the last years has even a chance to compete.

After the whole time and money invested in this movie, did I feel stupid. God, that awful way of dragging me around, jumping from one conclussion to another, which is indeed a good thing, but not with that ending.

Definitely one of the scariest movies out there... probably the most scariest of them all!!
The only downfall: Could have been 25-30 minutes shorter.. other than that, perfect!

Everything about this trailer is great
Starting from the distant bell sounds giving a religious vibe but alos something inexplicably eeire
The film was good and the ending was really unexpected
No jumpscares at all but the horror elements man damn
    Such a good movie
