    With good kid, m.A.A.d. city, Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar drops what's easily hip hop's most cinematic album of 2012.
    What did you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next, eh?

    I think you completely misunderstood the hook in Real. Kendrick is criticizing the attitude of Compton culture, particularly outgoing women. He's very critical of their propensity to call themselves "real". It's purposefully vapid. He thinks they are foolish and misguided, and made a hook that mirrors that.

    • @theneedledrop
      @theneedledrop  10 років тому +751

      Mohammad M Damn was a very mainstream move for Kendrick to release, especially following up one of the most abstract and comprehensive hip-hop releases of all time. And if you think DAMN had a better executed concept than GKMC you need to relisten. Personally Section.80 and his mixtapes are the only projects I like less than DAMN. +Benjamin Acevedo He's already widely considered as top 10 all time. And its really really really hard to top TPAB bro. So don't expect it to happen. TPAB is the highest rated hiphop album ever by critics. If he releases a couple more good to great albums he'd be top 3 all time in my opinion. Cause he already has 2 instant classics, and great mixtapes under his belt. Only a handful of rappers have 2 Classic albums. People set the bar wayyy too high these days on best rappers all time. No disrespect to the greats, but TPAB is better than most if not all their albums. People put too much bias on the old school...

      +Justin Peralta yea you're right. But I honestly feel like Kendrick has it in him to make even more great music (not saying it will top TPAB) but just music that he loves. I really respect and love the face that Kendrick takes his time with a record and doesn't skimp on any part of it, the lyrics, the melodies, the instrumentations, the messages, is something he always puts 100% into. And I honestly don't feel like it's ever his intention to make albums that top the previous ones, I feel like he just makes great music that he truly feels is great. I could see a top 5 spot, definitely top 10 as well. How do you feel about the collab album him and Cole are doing?

    Drake - If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late (2015)
    even Kendrick’s 2 albums after this one are 2 of the best new-age rap albums:

    I think that Kendrick Lamar will always be held as the golden child of rap, and that no matter what he does he will be hailed for his golden tracks, instead of looking at his less esteemed bad works. All artists are susceptible to doing filler tracks and bad co-tracks.

    I think honestly this would be my number 2 favourite album right under DSotM. It may even be Hip-Hop's answer to it since the themes of fear, money, losing ones mind, death all seem to be there. I think it took elements of everything that was on the radio at the time and totally made it work within context of his story telling which is one of the best things I ever heard. It's like an aural movie dude.

    I think it deserves a 10/10 just because you can tell how much time and detail k dot put into the album, how he took these real life stories/situation and can make you visualize it how he contrast dark situations into lighter situations for example 'Art of peer Pressure is a darker version of 'Money Trees, the good and bad of home invasion in Kendrick eyes as well as 'Sherane is the darker side of he feels about sherane compared to lighter 'Poetic justice Kendrick just perfectly portrays emotion
