Torie insisted that we make another picking thrifting trip in Virginia Beach and she was right! Some of the best antiquing and thrifting that I've done in a long time. I found Ironstone, blue & white lamps, brass, lots of fun glass wear & some clothing. Make sure to hang around to the end for the vintage haul! Come thrifting & antiquing with me in Virginia Beach. I share a booth/business with another person. I tend toward serious antiques and glassware. She grabs the kitchie stuff. Together we are as eclectic, as our customers seem to be. We are in New Hampshire where people are very vintage savy and independant. One week they are buying one type of item and the next week it is something else. We love our work. So much for the gentile lady antique dealer we are 75 and lifting and lugging household furniture and garden statuary...such fun. PS we watch for your videos and please if you are going to not post for a while just say "hey, everything is OK I just am not posting for a while...or we worry...we are also addicted to the Thrifing Twins...
The elephant plant stand isn't my style but I appreciate how cool it is and how good that's gonna look in the booth.

Thrift Store USA in Norfolk, their furniture does not have an old or musty wood odor. You can take the items from the store right into your home. It's the 1st thing I noticed walking into the store several years ago.
The music thingy on the mixed media piece is a gramophone. I love your channel! Discovered it only yesterday and am binge watching!

If glassware makes me happy to look at it, it doesn't matter how many pieces there are. The shape is more important to me than the quantity.

For glassware it depends on what place setting I'm going for. Anything that can be divided into 9 or 12 really. So If I want a set of 9 but originally only bought 6, I would definitely be looking for a set of 3. Or if it were a glass that I don't use often (martini or margarita glasses) a set of 3 is plenty
New viewer here. Drinking glasses - I buy single drinking glasses and then build the set cause the hunt is part of the fun.

The blue and white lamps were a great find. I love anything marble or stone. I like the feel of it and the sound it makes when you place it on the table. Weird, I know. I think "vintage" in general is huge, so you're right on the money. Don't stress. Everything you have looks great. I'd say the hard part is pricing it so it seems like a good buy to YOUR shoppers. People are very cost conscious in 2023. Still, we want great stuff! So its a balance between price and goods. I think people are also after cool lighting - chandeliers, sconces and even mirrors. The bamboo stools were so great, I am jealous. Mid century chinoiserie is probably a best seller right now. You did great!

I love when people find the thrift stores I've been shopping at for years! On one hand I'm like nooooo don't share our secrets, but on the other I love the joy it brings. You found some awesome things! This area truly has some thrifting gems!

Sets of 6 or 8 and sets of 4 if dirt cheap. Sets of odd numbers are good because you have an extra when one breaks. (Breaking drinking glasses rarely happens, right?)

I think tastes & trends are regional to some degree. Here in Kansas "antique" starts about a century later than it does for you. It still amazes me every video you buy and sell glassware - out here we really can't give it away regardless of age, style, function, or rarity. There's just no one looking.
I think the popularity of colorful items is a ripple effect of the popularity of midcentury. We can't really identify major shifts, but anything fabric is popular. I was mesmerized by that fabric lamp, what an amazing piece!
The lemon glasses and the wicker elephant are two real standouts. I have a set of prints on rice paper that would compliment the elephant quite well. I've never done anything with them yet, because I'm not sure what to do to display them. Framing really doesn't seem appropriate, but I don't know of any other way to hang them since the paper is so thin.

I was on vacation the week of 4th of July in Virgina I did not realize that is where you were located. I was in Williamsburg and went to Jamestown and Yorktown. It was so hot that I ended giving up on outside stuff and went antiquing.

I am in a thrift slump! I am not lucky lately and I am jelly of your trip! I think my favorites of yours are the bar stools and the cutie pie table/plant stand thing you put in the truck at the end. I think the 20's style is comfortable and cozy.

Good haul, I watch some of Caroline but she's I think more for those trying to find themselves. I do catch all of the decorating ones though. Do you follow Laura Caldwell? She's amazing for MCM content. I really liked the bar stools and I actually picked up the yellow checked glasses recently and a blue and white chinoiserie lamp. They aren't quite as popular on the West Coast.
