In this week’s video, I make another jig for my sacrificial crosscut fence. This time, for making perfect half-lap joints. Normally, to make half lap joints, you will use a table saw fence jig to make the vertical cut, then you switch to a cross cut sled to make the cross-cuts (or dados). My jig works on a cross-cut fence, so there is no need to build a separate jig for the table saw fence. It is a one stop shop for making the perfect half-lap joints.

Hello Friends! To make this Jig, you will need to first make a T-Track Cross-cut Fence. Here's the video on how I did that: ua-cam.com/video/z3u_fIvEY1w/v-deo.html

Having a small shop area like yours, I love tools/jigs that are versatile. I don't have room to store dozens of dedicated jigs. Look forward to the future add-ons.

Excellent jig Eric! When I make mine, I am going to put a lock down on it so that it will make it easier to insert & remove the stock for cutting. 👍👍😉😉

Thanks Steve! That's a great idea - I might have to change the hardware on mine🙂

For sure, and if you're feeling adventurous, bridle joints as well 🙂

Just wondering if you are still using a 7 1/2" blade in your saw like the Master Woodworker suggested?

My new Dewalt Table saw is a 8-1/4" blade with a matching riving knife. A very reasonable size and from what I understand, 8-1/4" and 8-1/2" will become a standard soon.

Is that table saw the type that is often called a “job site saw” rather than a carpentry or cabinetry saw?

It's the new Dewalt 8-1/4" compact Table Saw. Sometimes, I guess, they refer to it as a job site saw but I did not buy their rolling table saw stand. Cabinet Makers Table Saws are actually quite large and sometimes have a sliding sled attachment.
