Rift, Silent in the Morning, Contact, Run Like an Antelope, Maze, Bouncing Around the Room are a few worth checking out, Phish was huge in the 90s and still going today, enjoy
It is funny, when I saw it was farmhouse, I'm like this is a nice slow one. For the exact opposite, Rift came to mind :) Jay would love that bass guitar, really stands out in Rift
Phish formed back in 1983 in Vermont, and are still going strong today! It surprises so many folks when they find out how big a band they really are, especially when people are like “I’ve never heard of them!”
I always say they’re one of the only acts who can sell out Madison Square Garden, but almost everyone just walking by the arena has no idea who they are.
Us old Deadheads love a good jam band! From The Allman Bro,s, Govt. Mule, Umphrey's Mcgee, and my home state Ct.'s, Goose,, and of course any incantation of The Grateful Dead, you can't go wrong! Phish from Vermont, have another local icon who promote them; Ben & Jerry's Phish Food flavor of ice cream! Peace, Love, and jam on!
Please more Phish!!! Gotta do a live one - like the Dead in that respect. With something like this you’re not seeing what makes them great. Something upbeat like “David Bowie” or “Chalkdust Torture” would blow you guys away.
This is one of my favorite bands. Got to see them in 2000. Awesome. One of the greatest jam bands ever rivaling the Greatful Dead. They have a flag hanging in Madison Square Garden. Next to the retired numbers of athletes. They played the baker's dozen at the Garden. 13 straight sold out shows and they never repeated a song! This rabbit hole is DEEP.
My first show was 1991 Halloween at Colorado College's Armstrong Hall in Colorado Springs...I had heard two tracks off Lawnboy prior to the show...3 hits of relatively powerful LSD and everyone was in costume. Pretty wild night. ended up seeing them probably another dozen times. They take some getting used to, Trey likes to weave in and out between dissonance and harmony...suspended for as long as he thinks the crowd can take it, then the resolution hits like a hammer. Very fun band.
Phish is still touring and their live shows are amazing. Craziest lighting rig ever, amazing jams, great people, if a show comes near you don't hesitate.
I saw these guys for the 2nd time at Big Cypress in the Everglades. It was a 3 day show for the millennium new year’s show on the Seminole reservation.
I've seen Phish from Colorada, to Prague! So important to me! Enjoy more! They are all stellar musicians. 4 people. Trey Anastasio is the guitar player. They have changed my life! I've seen them only 32 times. 32 times too few! What a band!
Saw them at their 3-day Y2K show in the Everglades ---- and during their all night jam on NYE, Page fell asleep at the piano....they even had a porta-potty on the stage....NO ONE LEAVES THE STAGE!!!! LOL:)))
Long time Phish fan here since Junta (one of the greatest albums). But Amber would absolutely LOVE the song “wading in the velvet sea” and Jay would absolutely love “Maze” or “theme from the bottom”
Greatest live band experience on Earth! Hearing this man playing that guitar in person, is Pure Joy and Love ❤️ Y’all come to a show near you! We will all be there !
so glad you finally found Phish! as others have mentioned, Phish are a LIVE band. The album tracks are really just to provide jumping off points for the live jams, no two renditions the same, no two concerts alike. Phish are still great today but were probably at their peak in the mid to late 90's at which point Trey was arguably the best guitarist on the planet at the time. If you really want to see how it could get, do yourself a big big favor and search for the live video of Divided Sky from 10/31/94, absolutely brain melting
Fricking finally!!!!! Amber, you want free spirit and jams? Here it is. While I like Farmhouse, this is usually the song where people leave for the restroom break. Walls of the Cave is a great one. First Tube. Steam. Down With Disease. Gotta Jiboo. Twist. Slave to the Traffic Light. So many good songs.
Trey Anastasio is a fabulous guitarist and these guys are a great jam band in the fashion the Grateful Dead. You might want to check out there collaboration with Neil Young on Down By the River at Farm Aid 1998, really good!
More Phish, please! You Enjoy Myself, Rift, Bouncing Around The Room, Run Like and Antelope, Chalkdust Torture, Tweezer and Down with Disease are all good next steps
Wolfman’s Brother, Reba, If I Could, Down With Disease, The Squirming Coil, Bouncing Around The Room, Tweezer, Rift, Maze, Sparkle, Horn, The Wedge, Silent in the Morning, Julius, Sample in a Jar, Free, Run Like An Antelope, Waste, Fee, Fluffhead, Stash, Taste, Theme From the Bottom, Billy Breathes, Prince Caspian, Limb by Limb, Heavy Things, Dirt
Yes! My friend was the local production manager & gave us free tickets & backstage passes. It was phenomenal! The boys were so cool & welcoming to us backstage 😁
Only band who can regularly sell out NYE shows at MSG year after year, had a run of shows called the bakers dozen 13 nights no repeats, have no radio air play or songs on the charts and still tours to a full house most nights during shows. They have the original 4 (5 if you count Kuroda😉) members and been together 40 yrs and still going.
Ok, ok, ok, ok, ok! You're in my wheelhouse! Phish formed at the University of Vermont, which I attended when they were playing the dorms and Nectar's. I arrived the same year that the bassist, Mike Gordon, graduated (1987). I lived in the same dorm complex, Wing Davis Wilkes, where Mike and guitarist Trey Anastasio met. Their songs can be laid back, but most are rocking! The band is known for live performances. Let me suggest other songs to try that will hook you more than I think Farmhouse can: You Enjoy Myself, Run Like an Antelope, Harry Hood, Down with Disease, Divided Sky, Tweezer, Split Open & Melt, Reba, Contact, Esther, Lizards, Ghost, Harpua, Mike's Song, and Weekapaug Groove. Start with live versions from 1992-95 because those years were unbelievable. The energy, the humor, the musicality, the talent. This is a band that has more often than not the last 25 years played Madison Square Garden for New Years Eve. They hosted festivals where they were the only band, and 60,000 or more attended. They've been on SNL, Letterman, The Simpsons, and South Park. They've been on the cover of Rolling Stone. But I digress. Welcome to the school of Phish. Btw, when I started at UVM in 1987, Burlington had an amazing atmosphere. We had Phish when they were small, Ben & Jerry's just before they went national, and we had Bernie Sanders for mayor.
If you get the chance to see a Halloween show, do it! They play three sets. The first and last are phish. The second is a cover of an album they like, in its entirety. I got to see three, 1995 Chicago, The Who, 1998 Vegas, The Velvet Underground, and 2014 Vegas, when they covered an old Halloween music & sounds album whose name I don't remember. That was my last show. My first was 23 Nov 1991 in Barre VT. If you go to any show, go early to enjoy the parking lot. Bring plenty of beverages and wear a hat. Whether it's rain or shine, a hat is nice.
I love love love this song I always have. I love the message and the video beautiful and like they said we have to cherish the life we live. Cherish the ones that we love because they all can be gone in an instant
This band was big among my contemporaries when I was in college in the 90’s. I saw them several times live. Great shows. People followed the tour like people followed the Grateful Dead. The guitarist is elite level. One of the GOATS. They’ve got tons of great songs. Sometimes they let themselves go out on a limb during a jam and get really Phishy. Some people love that, and others can get turned off by it if they’re not vibing with the jam. I think you’ll really like them, but you may not like everything they’ve done. And that’s okay. Enjoy!
Phish = PHANTASTIC!! I'd personally recommend Down with Disease, Billy Breathes, Wolfman's Brother, Bouncing Round the Room, Cavern, Contact, Dirt, SO MANY MORE!
Thank you for your reaction to this song. I admit it’s not one I was familiar with until you shared it with us. And it’s a really good song. Nevertheless, I will let you in on a little “secret” (It’s not really a secret, but it’s some thing that someone new to this genre might not know): Phish is part of a very large genre often known as “jam band“. While these bands have some things in common, each one has their own unique sound. But the one thing they do have in common usually, they sound much better lives than they do in the studio. It’s all about the jamming that they do when they play live. For example, they may take a song that on their studio album might be five minutes long, but in concert, it could be as much as an hour! Or anywhere in between. Or even if they only play a shorter version of the song, it usually flows into another song without stopping. And of course there is a lot more improvisation and solos and duos etc. between all the instruments. The Grateful Dead, is one of the premier jam bands of all time. And you owe it to yourself to start reacting to some of their live shows. In general, a lot of these jam bands, will not do copyright strikes against their live shows or unofficial releases, and are often not controlled by the record companies. So although you can still stop the video, to help prevent against a copyright strike, usually you don’t need to. In any case they usually sound much better life. Other great jam bands: Umphrey’s McGee, Gov’t Mule, and one of my favorites of all time, JAZZ IS DEAD, which have been playing since 1998, and do mostly jazz-rock fusion instrumental versions of Grateful Dead songs. Another Dead “tribute” that I think you will love, is The Persuasions (my favorite acapella group of all time - so much soul! Started as gospel, but then did all kinds of music) versions of Dead songs, first on a double album, titled PERSUASIONS OF THE DEAD (see what they did there?). Maybe start that one with my favorite Dead song, and one of my favorite songs, period, “Brokedown Palace”, which for me, is even better than the Dead’s version. Anyways, keep up the great work.
Great that you are reacting to Phish! Like others have stated before, you must react to live versions of their songs! The live songs is where the magic happens and they truly shine!
Thank you both for reminding me I needed more Phish in my life! Forgot what an incredible album Billy Breathes is! Some songs to listen to would be: Free, Waste, Taste, Talk, Theme from the Bottom, Character Zero, thanks for sending me down the Phish rabbit hole again! Interesting fact, their debut album Junta is from 1989 and Phee is one of my favorites off that album if you want to hear 80s Phish 👍
Phish is a very cool band. I saw Trey Anastasio play live with a band called Goose last year at Radio City in NY. Goose is another terrific band worth checking out.
So glad you decided to check them out. I HIGHLY recommend listening to them live. Here is what i would suggest for the next song - “Stash”. They’re known for extended improvised jam sections of songs, and I love this one, but it’s also not CRAZY long at a little over 10 minutes. Trust me, the time should go by quickly. Here’s a link to a fan-shot version: ua-cam.com/video/31rvKgy97VI/v-deo.html
Today for me it was Big Foot riding "CHAMP", Vermont's Lake Champlain monster!🦕 I remember Phish playing @ Battery Park on Lake Champlain! 😊 Great show! Yes, more phish please!
Hey RSR thanks for jumping into Phish! Amber seems to have gotten hooked already! This is a very deep rabbit hole my friends but one you both are ready for now that you are so well versed in the way that rock music has morphed from the 50's right up through the 90's. A vibrant, live music Jam Band scene that has been spawned by Bands like the Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers began in the mid 90's and Phish was one of the main drivers. They are four guys that went to college together in the 80's and are now absolute music legends born and raised in the 70's listening to the radio and falling in love with many of the same songs you have reacted to! Enjoy!! BTW they are just like Grateful Dead and allow music sharing of all of their many many live shows so you can play anything you would like!
You have started entering into Jam Band territory and I’m here for it. Dave Matthews Band and Phish are both incredible. For DMB vibes listen to Crush, for more upbeat listen to Tripping Billies or Stay(Wasting Time)
This song has the same cord changes as Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" and also says "gonna be alright" which is in the chorus of the same Marley song as well.
Thanks for getting in to Phish. Here is a supper group you need to check out also Oysterhead. check out the song Mr. Oysterhead or Oz is ever floating. The Band is Les Claypool of Prums - bass, Stewart copeland of the police - drums and Trey Anastasio of Phish - guitar. Vocals are both done by Les and Trey.
Too many great songs to name. A massive, sprawling catalog of music. Off the top if my head do: Fee Bouncing Around The Room Free Julius Down With Disease Weekapaug Groove Contact
I’m so glad you finally listened to phish. I’ve been recommending them to you for ages and honestly, you couldn’t have picked a more boring, less representative song. But now that you’re interest is peaked, how about a real banger like down with disease, sample in a jar, Julius, really anything off of the “Hoist” album. There’s also Llama, Free, Run like an antelope, wolf man’s brother. So much other stuff that really hi-lights the amazing musicianship this bad has to offer. Beware, the live stuff is amazing but also super long and they wander around a lot. I’d stick with the studio albums to start.
As a few people have suggested, "Chalkdust Torture" next please!!!! A live version would be amazing, but the studio one is great as well. You guys rock by the way!!! Love all your videos!!!
Aww my favorite band. Thanks guys. FYI the singer is Trey Anastasio and he's also a fantastic guitarist. He plays in the Greateful Dead touring band. They formed in the 80's but the vulk of their success was indeed towards the end of the 90's and early 2000's.
Phish Trey Anastasio, guitar and lead vocals Jon Fishman, drums and vocals Mike Gordon, bass guitar and vocals Page McConnell, piano, keyboards and vocals Music and lyrics by Tom Marshall and Trey Anastasio “Farmhouse” was recorded July to October 1999. I have been obsessed and revolved my life around this band for the past 31 years, literally. I say this was all of my love because I love this band and I love their music but you picked the most elementary song as your intro. I suggest their return to the stage on 3/6/09 “Fluffhead” to check it out because they rarely have us taken a breather. It’s nonstop high energy live music for hours and hours with no opening act. They do their own festivals and they’re the only band there! Three day festivals of the same band. They have a cult like following for four decades. Welcome, it’s a magnificent community! #welcometomyphishylife
Up at Loring in northern Maine they played 3 shows up here I remember the great went think it was in 98 was driving a cab had people from all over the USA here saw many many vw vans they are called phish heads the successor to the grateful dead heads a fantastic band live a great jam band
The Ben and Jerry ice cream Phish is named after the band. This song is always on my playlist plus several others. My sons have been going to their shows since the 90s. They go to the one in Denver every Labor Day and of course go to every day. They don't repeat a song. They did a 13 night run at Madison Square Garden and never repeated a song on any night. They also have a New Years concert at least they stream every year. You'll have to look it up. They had whales and dolphins swimming in the air around the audience. They were drones but it looks incredible! The other band they have followed for years is The String Cheese Incident. I really like their song Sirens. I still would love to see you react to Adam Lambert. He's a singer that has been been the front man for Queen since 2011 and Brian and Roger love him! He's had a successful solo career as well. He has 4 albums of original work and his new album is of cover songs that he has redone like he did when he sang Believe for Cher. Now he's associated with the song Believe in a different way...The Muffin Man 😂. He sang the opera aria Nessun Dorma when he was in Italy with Queen on tour last summer. He was the headline act of London Pride last month and the song he recorded You Make Me Feel Mighty Real was the song of London Pride. He also performed at Wembley Stadium in June as well. I would check out him singing Closer to You (Live Sessions) but most people start at with him singing Cher's Believe to Cher at The Kennedy Center Honors. Brian May calls him a Gift from God and Roger Taylor says no one can outsing Adam Lambert. That's from rock royalty.
Just a reminder, Sarah Vaughn is one of the great jazz singers and if you get the chance, please react to "Sarah Vaughan - Misty (Live from Sweden) Mercury Records 1964", it's a knock-out!
Phish is also known for holding 3 day weekend shows, turning into a Huge Festival with More people than you can imagine! Never got to see them, but their talents are amazing!
Great choices, Also Harry Hood
Don't forget Guelah Papyrus
Please do "Bouncing Around the Room" and "Down With Disease!" I think you'd love both of these.
And please listen to the “Bouncing Around the Room” from their live album, A Live One.
Agree with those recommendations! Also must listen to Phish's version of Gin & Juice.
@@melissagorecki7598 That was actually the Gourds that remade Gin and Juice! I think a lot of people think it was Phish.
@@melissagorecki7598 the gourds did it and every band in the world claimed on the share sites but it was always the gourds
Great recs! They would love sample in a jar 😁
OMG!!!!!! This is one of the best wormholes to journey into. As far as picking a band. Continuing a "journey". 😊😊😊
Diehard and longtime Phish Phan! Love that you’re listening to this!!
RIGHT? I saw this on my feed and said "YES!!!" I hope they do more:))
Phish formed back in 1983 in Vermont, and are still going strong today! It surprises so many folks when they find out how big a band they really are, especially when people are like “I’ve never heard of them!”

My band has done covers of down with disease (which we add in a round of groove is in the heart), as well as 2001
This is one of my favorite bands. Got to see them in 2000. Awesome. One of the greatest jam bands ever rivaling the Greatful Dead. They have a flag hanging in Madison Square Garden. Phish has a lot of variety. I'm a fan of the earlier, more eclectic stuff. One of my favorite guitar solos of all time is from the song, "Horn".
Great solo, and one I was listening to yesterday!
You guys will also love, "You Enjoy Myself"
My first show was 1991 Halloween at Colorado College's Armstrong Hall in Colorado Springs...I had heard two tracks off Lawnboy prior to the show...3 hits of relatively powerful LSD and everyone was in costume. Billy Breathes, Prince Caspian and Bouncing around the Room for sure
Bouncing Around the Room, Chalkdust Torture, Sample In A Jar, Tweezer, My Sweet One!!!
Phish, The Dead, Allman Bros… ultimate hippie music festival vibes ❤
This music requires a bonfire and a hackie-sac 😂
I have a friend who's a Phish head, everytime he'd play this song I was No woman no cry by Bob Marley. Totally pissed him off😅😂
You’re my hero! 😂 You definitely made ME smile today! 😂

Bouncin round the room from A live one for sure, first phish song I ever heard and have been in love with them since!
The heirs to the Grateful Dead. Fantastic live.
Great that you are reacting to Phish! Like others have stated before, you must react to live versions of their songs! The live songs is where the magic happens and they truly shine!
I saw Phish in 95 in Saratoga. The entire concert was underwater. Glowsti k seahorses frolicked above the crowd on a bed of smoky seaweed...
Humble Pie ( I don't need no doctor) live please.
PHISH ARE LEGENDARY
To me, Phish is very much in the vein of The Grateful Dead…only 20 years later. They are also a “jam band”….and when I want that vibe, I stream Phish.
PHISH was my first (and only) concert while on psychedelics in 1999 😂
*And fun fact: they’re playing 2 Pittsburgh shows next weekend! ❤
Funnier fact: They are currently playing 3 shows in Atlanta
@@StunThePuppy funnierer fact: I stopped counting after I got past 100 shows......all of them on LSD
I think it might be time for some more AC/DC! I don't think you have reacted to You Shook Me All Night Long. I know you will love it!
Ha! Within 30 secs, you both closed your eyes and were in the phish trance.
Dave Matthews Band song simply called #41…you won’t regret it or forget it.
I’m a percussionist/drummer, and Stash was one of the first Phish tunes I ever heard. Blew me away and became an instant fan.
Never really listened to Phish before, but a song I've come to like, through MLB: The Show, is "Birds of a Feather".
Chalk Dust Torture is my favorite Phish song
Phish also does a wild cover of Snoop Dogg’s “Gin and Juice”
Love the guitar in this song , 😊
Today for me it was Big Foot riding "CHAMP", Vermont's Lake Champlain monster!🦕 I remember Phish playing @ Battery Park on Lake Champlain! 😊 Great show! Yes, more phish please!
Not really a great representation of what Phish is about. Woulda love to see ya react to Maze.
One of the best guitar solos ever
You have started entering into Jam Band territory and I’m here for it. Dave Matthews Band and Phish are both incredible. For DMB vibes listen to Crush, for more upbeat listen to Tripping Billies or Stay(Wasting Time)
They have never heard #41 though either…
@@timschultz7860 or Jimi Thing or Dancing Nancies or Warehouse
This song has the same cord changes as Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" and also says "gonna be alright" which is in the chorus of the same Marley song as well.
This song released around 2000 if I remember right. Love Phish ❤ 🤟
If you ever get a chance to see Phish live ...do it!!! They are incredible musicians with a friendly vibing following!
Too many great songs to name. A massive, sprawling catalog of music. Off the top if my head do:
Fee
Bouncing Around The Room
Free
Julius
Down With Disease
Weekapaug Groove
Contact
Yea Phish!
My favorite reactors doing my favorite band. ❤ heading out to their concert in NC in 2 hours.
As a few people have suggested, "Chalkdust Torture" next please!!!! A live version would be amazing, but the studio one is great as well. You guys rock by the way!!! Love all your videos!!!
Do the "A Live One" version.
Camden chalkdust from 97 has got to be the one if they're gonna react to it! Best chalkdust by far!
You would love Backwards Down The Number Line (from the album Joy) for another Phish tune.
And the studio version of Esther is hauntingly beautiful.
BOUNCING AROUND THE ROOM ❤❤❤❤
Ha! Even Maine Cabin Masters did a rebuild for Phish. They were huge. I think they are still touring.
Aww my favorite band. Thanks guys. FYI the singer is Trey Anastasio and he's also a fantastic guitarist. He plays in the Greateful Dead touring band. They formed in the 80's but the vulk of their success was indeed towards the end of the 90's and early 2000's.
Da fuck are you talkin bout Willis
more Phish!~
Phish
Trey Anastasio, guitar and lead vocals
Jon Fishman, drums and vocals
Mike Gordon, bass guitar and vocals
Page McConnell, piano, keyboards and vocals
Music and lyrics by Tom Marshall and Trey Anastasio
“Farmhouse” was recorded July to October 1999.
Fee has always been my favorite, then maybe Bounce Around the Room.
I was going to suggest Fee. A fun song to listen to.
The "Farmhouse" album came out in 2000
The Ben and Jerry ice cream Phish is named after the band.
Phish Food is the name of the Ben and Jerry's flavor.
I attended the ones in 1996 and 98. Crazy times.
Love Phish 🍄🐟🍄
The Lizards, Fee, Stash, YEM, Down with disease....just do the whole catalog. Nothing isn't good
