Thanks for watching! Be sure to watch my full review on this trimmer with the link below.
• Kobalt Cordless String...
I'm faced with taking over yard care for my elderly father and learning how to use the tools as I go along. You explained things very well without rambling and saved me a bunch of frustration of trying to figure out how the thing came apart. Thank you! A little tip to all the other weed whacker newbies out there: To advance the line on this model (you will notice the line getting shorter as you use it) you simply bump the head to the ground while it is still running.
Thank you!!! I appreciate your comment.
Video on how to replace line on Cibalt 40 volt trimmer
Did not work
Is the line not coming out when you bump it?
@@frankdalton7744 you got the wrong wire...The thickness should be .065 or .080 .... 080 works well with 10feet in length.....
Thank you so much! Both of my 26yo twin boys tried to restring my weedeater and the oldest finally told me to you tube it. This was a very well planned video with excellent easy to follow instructions! Great job!
Thank you so much! Glad my video helped you out!! Thank you for watching.
Thank you! I am an older lady and this helped me change my string without difficulty.
Super awesome! Glad I could help! Thank you for watching. God bless!
Future Legend was nice enough to tell me that it would take me 25 yrs to download a manual to figure out how to string a line.
So thank you for saving my hiney.
Future Legend also told me that in 25 yrs this trimmer will be absolete because we'll have Smart Grass, he called it. STG (Smart Trim Grass) is for edges so it'll always be contained within the boundaries of your lawn. Rest assured SWG (Smart Weedless Grass) will be what most of the lawn is, will never have weeds due to self care. And best of all SMT and SWG will trim itself!!
Thank you for watching.
Watching this in 2024 and saved me so much time and frustration lmao. Tried to figure it out for like 5 mins and said ah screw this, to the UA-cam. Thank you so much for the video, it WAS indeed way way easier than method number 1
I appreciate you watching my video. There is so much help to be found on UA-cam when it comes to fixing things. Glad you got the weed eater going again!
Thank you so much. This was very helpful for me as a single Mom. Have a blessed year.
Thank you! Glad to help! You also have a blessed year and life!
I wanted something light weight and capable of cutting. This little string trimmer is just that ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . The battery will last about half an hour. It cuts through most weeds and grass. I wanted to see what this trimmer could do and tried cutting down some brush. It does okay with light brush but heavy brush, not so much. This is a great tool for trimming around the yard. It's not great for clearing out brush but no one would expect it to be.Out of the box, this trimmer is extremely easy to use. All I had to do was attach the guard and load the battery.
Dude, you are a life and sanity saviors! Thank you so much for this video. 🙂

Great job. Thanks!
brucesbees thank you!!
Appreciate the video brother!
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment!!
What could be stopping the line from feeding out? There seems no give at all in the 'tap', and when I took it apart, no spring.
There is no storing on this model. Sometimes the line gets tangled on itself. It has happened on rare occasions to me. You just have to open the head and pull the string by hand to remove where it might be snagged.
Thank you! Subscribed!
I appreciate you!!
Thank you so much! Huge help!
Susan Bingham you are welcome!!
Thank you so much!!
You are very welcome my friend! I appreciate your comment and watch time!!!
Thank you bro! 🙌🏽🍻
You are most welcome!!
way more clear than the manual: "Insert end of line into the small hole to anchor the line.
Wind the line evenly and firmly in a clockwise direction. Once completed, put the line in the slot so it does not unwind. Repeat for the remaining spool section." only one end of the string? into which small hole, the notches in the spool? the hole in the trimmer? put the line into what slot? what do you even mean, remaining spool section??
Thanks. Glad it helped you.
Thank you so much dude
You are welcome!!
THANK YOU!!!
You are most welcome!
t
Thanks Brother that helped alot
You are most welcome! I appreciate you watching. Glad this helped you.
Thank brother 😊🙂
Your welcome!
What size string is that? It looks thicker than the recommended 0.08.
videosantiguos .095. It fits. I had left over string from my gas powered weed eater. I didn’t want to waste it. It works just fine.
How do you make the string come out while using it?
I apologize for the late reply! Sometimes I get overwhelmed with comments and miss some. You have to pop/bump the head on the ground while pulling the trigger. This will allow string to come out while in use.
Thank you, thank you!
You're very welcome!
thank for the video, my brain went on stupid
You are welcome. I thank you for watching my video.
Thanks!
You are welcome.
Omg thank you great video
Michelle Trocine Starr thank you very much!
Super easy
Thanks!
How to extent kobalt v80 weed trimmer string when got too short to trim
Helen Schwartz is it a bump head like this video? If so bump it on the ground while you have your finger on the trigger.
You made my life much easier lol
I’m glad! Thanks for the support to my channel!
does it work with that thick string? thanks.
Yes, I’ve had no issues.
great video @rjguess1 explained alot :)
Thanks!
Dude, you’re a saint. I’m 26 and stubborn as a mule and didn’t wanna look up how to do this cause I just knew I could figure it out on my own.. well rest assured I caved and this is the first video that I’ve watched and you were spot on with your instructions, thank you sir
Awesome! Thank you for your support to my channel! I’m glad this video helped you out!!
you’re gonna struggle a lot in life with that much pride lmao must have a lot of shame in u too
Same boat as you (also 26 and stubborn haha). This was a huge time saver.
Which string did you guys buy? I tried 2 different ones I had lying around and neither would be cut by my Kobalt essentially not being able to automatically get more line when I tap it on the ground
SUPER helpful!! Thank you!!
Ross Cook thanks!!! Glad it is helpful!!
So helpful! Thanks!
Awesome!
Thank you, very helpful!
Susan Carpenter awesome! I am so glad this video helped you!
Thank you!!!
You are very welcome! Thank you for watching.
My husband of 46 years just left me. I’ve always done the trimming but he did the string. Thanks so much for this video!!!
I’m sorry about your loss. I’m glad my video helped you. I hope things get better for you.
I went to Lowe's this weekend to get replacement string for the trimmer, and was really surprised there were no instructions on the refill package! UA-cam (and you) to the rescue! Thanks for taking the time to share with us. Instructions were clear and easy to follow.
Thank you fur watching. I appreciate your comment. Glad to help!!
That's what I'm talking about, straight to the point, thanks you ,very informative vid.🤟🏽👍🏽
Thank you!! Glad this video helped.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I watched your video today and was amazed at how easy this was to do. I was dreading this process but you made this so simple.
Al Rossi you are most welcome!!! Thank you for the comment and watch time. I appreciate the support to my channel. Super glad this helped you!!
Cut your weed eater string to lent lay out in the sun and let it get flexible it's a lot easier to whine that when it's cold and really stiff
Thank you for this video. I have used your careful instructions to restring my trimmer and it works! I have two questions: what trimmer string should I buy for the Kobalt 24 volt trimmer? What length string should I cut before restringing?
I use .080. You can use thinner string as well. I’ve used .060 as well. I normally cut the string anywhere from 8-15 feet. Depending on the thickness.
Excellent video. Clear, straight to the point explanations.
I just finish putting mine together a few minutes ago, and I was wondering how to do it when the time comes (without reading the manual, of course, he, he, he).
Thank you so much, my man.
micarmo1948 lol we men do not like reading manuals! This was a trial and error for me. I had a weed eater very similar to this one. Thanks man! I appreciate your comment!
OMG! It is all about the loop! I have spent so much time trying to wind one string and then the other. I was not looking forward to using the weedeater this weekend, but after this video I am looking forward to trying your method. Thank you so much for the handy tips. Loops and notches are the key; I feel silly that I never knew this.
I didn’t know this for a long time. A friend showed me years ago. I thought I’d make a video on it. Thank you for watching. I’m glad it helped you.
Thanks for doing this video. I just got me weed Wacker and had to fix string. Also I didn't that
you advance string by pushing button ground while its running. all good.
Yeah, amazing when you actually read the manual, huh?
Not necessarily. I was shown how to do this years ago as stated above. I did not read the manual. Also many people in the comments say that my explanation is better and easier to understand than the manual.
@@rjguess Well, then whoever showed you read the manual because it's exactly how the manual says to do it. Funny how that works.
I dreaded my string running out, but when it did, I took to youtube and found your video. Thanks a ton man. Made it way easier than trying to follow the directions in the book. Much appreciated.
Bill Jordan awesome! Glad it helped you! I appreciate your support to my channel!
Bro my dad always talked about how hard this is, thank you for making it so easy, you just saved my day and now my fiancé won’t be mad when she gets home to a garden still full of weeds 😂😂
You are most welcome! Glad my video helped you out!
Hi again RJ... I recently bought a 200 foot package of Husqvarna Titanium Force .080" trimmer line (for $2. more than the price of one measly 16 foot replacement spool), and reloaded my Kobalt string trimmer using your instructions (the Husqvarna line mentioned is supposedly among the highest quality trimmer lines).
Thanks to you (and your very helpful video) it was incredibly fast and easy to do (it took me around four minutes total). Talk about saving a ton of money versus buying the pre-loaded 16 foot replacement spools! That's a savings of $159. versus buying individual replacement spools!... Thanks again for taking the time to create your incredibly helpful videos as it is much appreciated!!!
Awesome!! I knew it saved money but I never calculated how much!!! That’s amazing. Thank you for leaving this comment! Your kind words are greatly appreciated!!
@@rjguess - I just thought you might like to know that, and you deserve the kind words!
@@rkaussner thank you. I do appreciate you very much. I’m very happy this video was so helpful!
amazing, I've been trying to get this down my whole life. then when i do, I change weed eaters and it's completely different. that was the greatest explanation ever. simple, I love it!
Thank you! Glad my video helped you!
Good video. Straight to the point without a guided tour of your backyard. Thank you.
Thanks! Glad it helped.
Man this has been a struggle for two years. Thank so much!!!!
You are most welcome! Thank you for watching my video. It means a lot. I hope you have a blessed day and life! I appreciate your comment!!
Dude holy crap, I've been loading mine wrong like a moron this whole time. You just saved me tons of time and probably several feet of trimmer line.
Good! Glad I could help. You haven’t been loading like a moron. Just incorrectly that all!
I was able to restring it myself following your video and I'm pretty pleased with myself. Usually I'd give it to my husband to figure out but glad I persevered. I care more about how the lawn looks than my husband so it's up to me lol
lol. Nothing wrong with caring more about how the lawn looks than your husband. I myself love a nicely edged and trimmed lawn. I’m glad my video helped you out! Thank you for watching and commenting. Have a blessed life!
The amount of frustration the spool has cause me! Thank you for posting this video. So incredibly helpful. Now I can be less angry next time I cut the grass 😅
You are welcome. I’m glad my video helped you!
Thank you! I didn't wanna have to ask my dad 😂 and get the look 😂
🤣🤣. I know exactly what you mean!!
Thank you! I couldn't get my husband to take 5 minutes of his time to explain this and you calmly did in about 5 minutes! Much appreciated!
Else Davidson your most welcome. Glad it helps you!
You might need a new husband
🤣🤣🤣
Dump him.
Me too 😊😊
Thank you! I went to Lowe’s to buy a replace spool but that don’t sell one for this trimmer. They said just to buy the replace string. I asked them how to string it and they did not know. So thank you again that was well shot and explained.
Donavon H thank you very much! I appreciate it and I’m glad this video is helping so many people.
I live in the deep South...mowing here year round, but local Lowe's will not get back string until MAY! Crazy store!!
TT nNaples that’s insane! 🤦🏻♂️
I had the same similar experience. I was ready to go buy a whole nother weed wacker until I saw this video. They should put this UA-cam link in the direction box. LOL
To the point and very thorough. Uncomplicated and easy to follow. A BIG HELP FOR SURE! Really Great Stuff!
Chris C. Wow! I really appreciate your kind words. I am seeing that this video is very helpful. I am so glad it is! That part of what I want my videos to be. Very helpful. Thanks again!!
Thank you for taking the time to explain this process. I admit I was a bit intimidated of this task prior to watching. Your instructions were clear and precise.
Thank you!! This video has helped out a lot of people. I am glad this helped you! Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much! I am just about to the point where I need to change my line. I like to be prepared before I attempt something like this. Your video is excellent. I have never seen one that was explained so well. Thank you!
Well thank you so much. I’m glad my video is helping so many people. Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate you.
My dad always paid for this to be done. This is cool. I like doing it myself, I have time now!
Totally awesome! Glad it helped you. I appreciate your watch time and comment!!
I was having one hell of a time trying to push in the two buttons and remove the cover at the same time. I thought you needed Superman strength but I've since found an easy way. Just insert the tip of a flathead screwdriver into the button, the side closest to the bump feed and pry til it pops. Don't force it or you could crack the plastic. You want just enough force to unlock the cover. Then repeat for the other side.
Good information. Thank you!!
Thanks man, i just bought one today. Havent used it yet just put it together, seems like its more powerful than my 40v worx trimmer. Thank for the demo its a big help, god bless
Troy Purnell I really appreciate your kind words! Very glad this video helped you! God bless you as well!
