My boys just went to the Phish show again in September in Colorado for all 3 nights. I know when they go they get tickets for every night they play because they don't repeat a song and the show is different every night. Sometimes one or two of them will have a side project show later that night and they go to those as well. They have been going since the 90s. My favorite is Sirens but they have a number of good songs. There's a recording of Trey Anastasia from Phish singing Sirens with The String Cheese Incident.
I've been seeing them both on a regular basis in Colorado since 97. Two incredibly talented bands. Trey played on Rocky Mountain way> outside and inside with them at the four mile canyon benefit in Broomfield, 2010 or so. Good times

@@Bee-hf3fc I never took it seriously but 4.0 Phish is very real!! I truly believe that the lockdown and The Beacon Jams residency last fall lit a creative fire in Trey. They completely transformed their sound coming out of the pandemic, forever evolving and aging like a fine wine. We are so blessed to still have them in our lives!! If you told me in 04 that they'd still be blowing minds in 2021 I would've laughed in your face. Shit was bleak back then
@@joehynes5452 Right, and I hear you on Trey. I don't now how others feel but in 2021 seemed to me that Trey played like he had something to say. Perhaps a reminder. I'm a guitar great and don't forget it? Just a guess. Can't wait for Spring/Summer.
So stoked you reacted to an epic YEM by Phish!! No two are the same and each one is a crowd-pleaser! Loved hearing you ask if they were ever going to sing, then watching you slide into the soft groove of the music to let it wash all over you!!
The story behind this song is that while in Florence Phish was joking around in a car with a German guy named Jurgen. He could barely speak English, but he was laughing along with them. At one point he said "You Enjoy Myself" and Trey burst out laughing. He loved the phrase so much he named the song after it. The phrase "Wash Uffizi drive me to Firenze" is a bit of a mystery though. For a long time I thought it was "Wash your face and drive me to Francais", others have interpreted it as "Was your feet and drive me to a Frenzy". But It was later revealed in an official Guitar World magazine to be "Wash uffizi drive me to Firenze". Rumor has it that, while on their way to Florence, they had picked up a hitchhiker who could barely speak English and he was trying to ask them "Would you please drive me to Florence" but it came out like "Wash Uffizi drive me to Firenze". It's possible that hitchhiker was the same Jurgen who said "You Enjoy Myself" but the hitchhiker rumor has never been confirmed.
Terrific reaction - really fun version of this song, possibly the quintessential Phish number. Capped off a terrific day for me: my folks came to visit, saw both my boys play soccer, watched my #1-ranked Georgia Bulldogs annihilate the hated Florida Gators, then my beloved Atlanta Braves come from behind to win a World Series game. Now I see a reaction to my favorite band of all time. Happy Halloween
This was fun to watch. Split Open and Melt is another super funky, fun, chaotic, brilliant Phish song to check out live. Foam would be a fun one to watch you react to as well.
Got to see them play this in 91. You seem like a really good human being I really enjoy Channel thank you for being you! Keep spreading the love we all need it
I don’t usually like first time song reaction videos, however I love your channel. I think it’s because you actually *react* and not just talk the whole time. Seeing your reaction here made me remember hearing YEM for first time and being blown tf away by it! Great channel my man!
As someone with nearly 100 Phish shoes starting in 95’,this made my morning. I’ve always dug Jamals videos but this was another level of beautiful. One of the great joys at a show was having someone along who it was their first show. That’s what this brought back to me was the experience of watching someone else “get it”. Thank you so much
Kind of crazy that bands like this fly under the radar. I never hear them being mentioned. A friend of mine told me about them about 20 years ago and when I asked what kind of music they played. He said they were kind of like The Grateful Dead to the tenth power.
Flying under the radar because they don't need to market themselves, they just play tasty jams and sell out everywhere they go! The typical "I hate phish" person have never really tried to give them a listen....
@@LetterToVoltaire for the most part the music is funky as hell. I've been to some Phish shows. I am a lyrics person...that part makes it tough. But you can't deny the vibe. Ever.
Dude...Jamal pls come to a Show...you have the perfect attitude out the gate. Mad love for listening to new music 🎶 a 22 min phish song. My guy...you rock.

I was at this show! So, so awesome! I was really lucky - I got to see them in Boston in the late 80s in clubs. Small venues, and a young, hungry band. Those shows change my idea of what music was. I imagine it was like seeing Hendrix in London in the 60s. I wish more people could have heard them in that era. By the time they started playing arenas, they'd changed a fair bit. They were still good, but in the late 80s, they were truly mind bending.
Too bad you missed the LA show. It was a good one. I have a tradition that I always pay to take my friends to see their first Phish show. If they come around again, I'd be honored to take you to see your first show!
Just went to my first phish show on Halloween at the MGM. It was uhh, hard to describe what I saw there, I don't think I moved from my spot for the entire 2nd set, was blown away.
YES!!!!! Bro, you missed out on that show. You HAVE to go see them. There is nothing else but Phish in town. Don't let these opportunities pass you by. Trust me. Please!!!
Agree! It's probably been 20 years since I've seen them live, but nothing else compares to it. Phish isn't necessarily in my all time fave bands and they may not even be in my top five live shows (there's a lot for me to compare to)... but it's an experience I'm so grateful for having. Traveling to shows when I was younger was my favorite thing to do. 💜
Jamel! Man! Thanks for picking this "YEM" in particular! I was at this 3 show run in Saratoga. I had just turned 19 and there was a crew of around 10 of us there from the Rochester, NY area. This was the 3rd night of the 3 show run and this was "the song" that we all collectively hoped that we would get. In that magical way, they come out for the last encore of the run and play it. Typical. We were so stoked!
Great reaction video, love the content you put out. Been following Phish for almost 30 years and it’s so neat to see a reaction thru new eyes. Keep the vids coming🤙

@@Bee-hf3fc The year’s not over!!
More phish!
Thanks. This is an epic classic. Most of it's composed, with some jams. I'd recommend Harry Hood for another great old school Phish song.
Yessir, or the complete Harpua tale haha.
You can feel good, good, good about Hood.
Providence RI 2019 Harry Hood is crazy good!
Hood. For sure.
Favorite band of all time, just saw them play an amazing Halloween show in Vegas!!
Keep watching Phish, Jamel, and go see them when you can! My guess is that they move into your top 5 favorites (at least top 10)🤘
I was at this show in 2012 in Saratoga NY at SPAC!
Me too!!! Still the best YEM I have ever seen, and I have seen the band over 100 times lol
Just saw this come up in my notifications....how great!!
The look on your face during the vocal jam was priceless! Hahahaha
Nothing brings me back to my dorm room in 1995 better than this joint.
Keep spreading the love we all need it
That's the encore. Whole run was fire that year
That was great! Your reactions were wonderful.. made me reflect on when I first heard phish out saw them 30 years ago…
I don’t usually like first time song reaction videos, however I love your channel. I think it’s because you actually *react* and not just talk the whole time. Seeing your reaction here made me remember hearing YEM for first time and being blown tf away by it! Great channel my man!
Something kinda Phish y going on--and I love it! Thanks as always, Jamel. One of my favorite groups on one of my favorite channels.
This made me cry.
What it's all about man. Keep on sharin in the groove!
Great video bro. And thank you Phish for an absolutely ASTONISHING summer and fall tour!
Thank you so much
Quite a bit of shoes you got there!
Whatever you do….
Whatever you do take care of your shoes
Love this so much Jamal! Been following them since '95. Makes my ❤ happy. Go see them!!
Ever.
Lol thats how my friend got me to go to my first show in 89
Dude...Jamal pls come to a Show...you have the perfect attitude out the gate. Mad love for listening to new music 🎶 a 22 min phish song. My guy...you rock.
Jamel, you were right to not interrupt You Enjoy Myself. That song is quintissential Phish, it's got it all.
You had something going on?!!
Jamel, if PHISH is in town,,,,,,you go.
Download that Forum show, f@%$ing Tweezer fest.
Greatest live band of all time.
This is an offer you can’t refuse! LA was absolutely bonkers!
Just went to my first phish show on Halloween at the MGM. It was uhh, hard to describe what I saw there, I don't think I moved from my spot for the entire 2nd set, was blown away.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing people discover awesome music for the first time, and seeing their reaction. Purely human.
I loved how he was just struck speechless when the vocal jam came through lol
Jamel!
Woah Jamel is back with a Phish reaction! Love it!
Great reaction video, love the content you put out. Been following Phish for almost 30 years and it’s so neat to see a reaction thru new eyes. Keep the vids coming🤙
I loved this so much! Thanks for the good vibes!
This has been my favorite band for 20 years and seeing your face light up just gave me the chills of why I feel in love with Phish in the first place
They started in a little ol' town called Burlington, VT. Nectar's was the first place that saw them perform. What a group, one might state.
I went to school with a Jessica LeBlanc. In Vermont.
OMG, Sanford & Sons + Children of the Corn = Phish! Exactly, amazing! You have GOT to go to a show. It’s never the same again. I couldn’t love this reaction more. 💜🌈💎
The pure joy of you watching and listening to this for the first time made my heart happy! One of my favorite YEMs!
really liked your heartfelt reaction, so genuine/out,
and being a Phish fan only a year, I hadn't seen this wild live vid yet, so thanks for picking this one!
Thank you soooo much for this!! It's so fun seeing your reaction to so much music, but when it's my fave band, it's extra special! Just saw the boys in Vegas for Halloween, my first show in 7 years and it was too much fire!!
Hits the checklist of the intended reactions to all the parts of this song IMHO. Such a good hot take too, had me laughing out loud thank you for this
Back on the phish my friend
You should've gotten tickets to the Forum show last week. PHISH IS PERFORMING ON ANOTHER LEVEL
Yeah I had something going on
@@jamelakajamal I commented before I started the video, my apologies brother
Phish Fall Tour 4.0 was solid. Went to the Oregon and Arizona shows. This might top the shows I saw in 96. ✌
Huge Phish fan. I am flying from Canada to see them play at MSG, Dec 29 & 30th, come join us. I am 60, I remember the whole hippie scene as a kid, Phish concerts are 1967 all over again
Your reaction to the vocal jam makes my heart smile! That’s one you’ll really enjoy experiencing in person. :)
Finally more PHISH!!!
Practically a backyard concert for them at SPAC in Saratoga Springs, NY
Stumbled on this channel and first video only 4 minutes in and you got yourself a new subscriber!!! Love your reaction and vibe Jamel
Can't wait for New Years. Got me floor tickets for all 4 nights!
I would love to go to a Phish show with you Jamel, you seem so chill down to earth and understanding of the music! You are a true G
Thanks for sharing the love! I have been seeing Phish live since 1990. I'm subscribed!
2 years later and I still come back to this video. Reminding me of my first reaction. Thank you
Chris Kuroda is one of my favorite band members. He's brilliant.

My heart is SOOO happy seeing you do PHISH!
