The other day you said you think this series has run its course, but people truly love it and so do I. I think its ok to repeat, just like this video, as there are always products coming out
what? it's the best content on her channel imo and her testing basics videos are also her highest viewed videos which shows so many people love it. Hope she doesn't stop the series but if she doesn't enjoy making it then that's fine.
Second this! I'm trying to be more deliberate about what I buy and building a wardrobe with staples I can wear for long. Your series really gives me a good sense on what's worth splurging on.
Thank you so so much xxx
£610 for 100% viscose really is shocking! Love this series still so helpful and informative 👌🏻
Excited for tank tops! Weekday ribbed tank tops, Les Coyotes de Paris too please xx
love your testing basics series!! would love to see one for white sneakers :)
She‘s already done one for canvas sneaker! Here’s the link xx
ua-cam.com/video/3sW5Q3koGjc/v-deo.html
Please do a summer dress edit? I discovered your videos ages and ages ago when you reviewed a polka dotted mango dress that I still adore.
This series is the best! You're at the point where you can easily repeat topics- compare new and old, add new links so we can check stuff out, etc. Seeing if/that you still wear something from a basics video 3 yrs ago says alot! Or that you've found something even better👍👍
Blazers is the one thing I can't stop buying (and wearing 💚) *I am here for this video*
IT’S BACK YAAAY!!! This is my absolute favourite UA-cam series ❤️
Just what I needed, you are a star for uploading this. ❤️❤️
toteme scoring top marks for the "inspires a David Byrne playlist" portion of the rubric
Seeing the notification for this video was just what I needed after a long day at work. Thank you 🖤
Thank you for this video that comes right on time ! I felt overwhelmed and couldn't find a place where to look for good blazers, but you definitely helped me !! Great video !
love your testing basics series!!!
It seems you've had loads of constructive criticism on this one, but I really enjoyed it! It's hard to get back into normal life, and I'm finding a blazer is a great way of dressing up the outfits we've had on repeat for a year.
When you mentioned sustainable brands, I wondered if that could be a way of refreshing this fabulous series? It would be a reason to revisit categories, and I personally am much more willing to spend on ethically made pieces in sustainable fabrics. As you were saying about Philippa K.
Thank you so much! I will definitely focus on more sustainable brands in the future too! xx
I missed testing basics sooooooo much I love these videos ❤️
Oh Lizzy, you got hooked to the Scandinavian tailoring ;) :)
Massimo Dutti is probably not running so small one needs two sizes up, it’s just normal tailoring for Southern European style where clothes are more fitted to accentuate the figure and one doesn’t wear so many layers underneath. In the same way that the slightly boxy and oversized is normal tailoring for Scandinavia. And all the other blazers come from Swedish brands.
Loved the video btw, missed this format.
Hi Lizzy, thanks for the really nice video, I also own the arket blazer in multiple colours and sizes and still love all of them! For your Tank Top Testing Basics, Cos has really nice ones at the moment, I bought the ripped high neck style in beige, thinking about adding more colours, but I would also love to see their linen style. Looking forward to your next video!
Loved this (and I’m not even a blazer person! 🙊) - thank you! My fav was the Massimo Dutti 🙌
love this series!
I would be really interested in seeing a tank top from RE/DONE in the next Testing Basics. They were such a huge hype last summer and I still debate on wether to get one or not😅
Love, love, love your toteme blazer! I know you mentioned that it’s not exactly an every day item,, but could you please show us more outfit ideas with the blazer??
Please do more of these Testing Basics 😍
Would really like to see you include Djerf Avenue for the tank tops testing basics!
I’m looking forward to tank tops! I’d love it if you included one from Reiss 💗
I do like the Ivory one but of course Elizabeth looks great in them all!
Can you try toteme tank tops for testing basics? Love your videos!
Loved the video!
I love that pistachio green colour! For tanks can you please include reformation and free people?
Absolutely love this series- so helpful! Looking forward to tanks but what about doing minimal summer dresses too? Xx
If you do summer dresses, please include longer length dresses.
I love the colour of that Arket blazer so much, and it suits you so well! Really looking forward to the tank top Testing Basics - I've been trying to find the perfect white ribbed tank since last summer and have not yet succeeded! I was looking at a couple from Cos, so that's a possibility for a slightly cheaper option!
Thank you!!
Omg please share what top you are wearing in the intro?? I absolutely loveeee it
You can test the ribbed tank tops from cos, they look nice but i'm not sure :) lovely video btw xx
Love this 💜
Testing basics jewelry edition ?
I feel like you could thrift a very similar blazer to the totem one from any opshop 😆 Especially without the collar and lapels, looks a little vintage.
Would love to see one on chunky winter turtlenecks! I always have such a hard time finding a good fit and good quality.
Try the ones from Other stories !
I would love to see a testing basics on white linen shirts. I have to replace mine every year.
Thanks for a great vid 😊 x
Love it!!!!
for tanktops I’m thinking about Zara but I don’t know if that’s a brand you support… Also Arket, The Line By K, Weekday, Stories,… The usual suspects ;) Loved this video Lizzy!
I’ll never get tired of this series. I really hope you do ballet flats one day.
Thank you!!, Had I been thinking on invest in the Frankie Shop blazer but any advice?
For tank tops an example of a sustainable as well as size inclusive brand could be Dariadeh, who just launched their own tank tops!
I love this series but the prices are getting a lot more expensive and often the second cheapest item in your recent testing basics are already out of a lot of people's price range. Would love if you included a few more affordable brands :)
Agreed. The jump between £45 and £135 is huge.
I just googled ‘blazer’ and saw adverts flew blazers from - monki, mango, ASOS and h&m that were all more affordable. I don’t see how you struggled to find more affordable options :-/
exactly does she know not everyone wears £600 blazers???? that are given to her may i add
Ok but the point isn't too find cheap clothes. The point is to find QUALITY clothes. I for one would rather save and buy 1 jacket worth a lot of money than keep having to buy cheap ones that don't fit properly and are poorly constructed 🤷🏿♀️
I agree with what you're saying but this series has proven so many times that expensive doesn't necessarily mean it's better quality. I'm not suggesting to include unethical brands with poor quality clothing but there are so many brands which cost a lot less than £200-£600 a blazer which it would be great to hear lizzys opinion on and draw some attention too.
I will make sure to do so last time! I went with the brands people has requested most here, but understand there is quite the jump between the two most affordable ones!
My favourite tank tops are Gap, Cos and M&S
I would highly, Highly recommend checking out the Classic Blazer from TheCurated. It's easily the best blazer I've ever owned. 90% merino wool, 10% cashmere, fully lined in 100% mulberry silk and sells for $300USD. Can't go wrong.
bit out of context but are you wearing a different mascara than usual? If so, which one because your lashes look luscious af!
I would like to see a makeup tutorial please for the simple makeup in this video
tank tops: line by k, skims, aym, arket, weekday!! xx
Thank you!
Would love to see one on summer blazers/jackets - I love the look of layered outfits but find it terribly hot in my 35 degree Celcius climate.
Hi Lizzy, could you discuss the fiber content of the linings? I hate polyester so much, especially as a lining, so I rarely buy blazers. I would rather buy an unlined blazer than a poly-lined one. Viscose/rayon is so much better, as was the standard in my youth, or silk. The Curated has silk-lined blazers, but not in petite, so the shoulders are at least 2” too wide for me. I have been taking in the shoulders of some of my blazers, a ton of work, and found this doesn’t work well if more than 1-1.5 inches at each shoulder needs to be removed. Thanks, where’s Luigi?
Lizzy cada vídeo que subes eres mi ídola más que nunca - me encantó esté video muy interesante - estoy anonadado con tu rostro - desde Argentina 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
I'd love to see tank tops or t-shirts only from sustainable brands
i LOVE you and your style! now please, for gods sakes. water your calathea triostar. poor baby is CRISPY.
H&M has a white linen blazer with a silk/viscose blend lining for $150 US, that’s the one I’m getting with my next check. This will replace my cheaper white blazer that has a poly lining, and strangely, can’t be steamed or ironed. I tried ironing in a few hidden places, and the recommendation is correct, it damaged the fabric, but who the heck wants linen that can’t be ironed?
Lizzy thank you so much for once again a great & informative video! i am legit shocked by toteme… £610 for viscose?? i love the cut and everything but viscose is nowhere near a luxurious or fancy fabric, it’s actually extremely cheap, unsustainable and low quality… @toteme please get it together, you simply cannot charge such prices for viscose
Re/done frame the row gauge81 all got really nice tank tops! Pls consider 🙏
Tank top brands; LinebyK (wrote this before you said it ;)), Weekday, H&M, Redone
Please include an item from H&M in your next comparison, I’m one of the 99%🙂. Quality is a luxury, even in food. I know I should eat fish and salad everyday, but it costs at least $25 to cook a meal like that, more for organic. It’s the same with clothes, I can have something from H&M, or nothing at all, it’s comparable to thrift store prices where I live. Thanks💕
Love the series! But having a white blazer in viscose would be impossible for me. One glass of wine and I’m out. Looks great though!
Bread & boxers tank top! They are the best!
Does anyone else get Cillian Murphy vibes from Lizzy? Like they could be related, though he is Irish I believe. And I mean that in the most complimentary way because they are both gorgeous with the most lovely personalities.
I’m not a fan of the oversized blazer trend. As a petite, with narrow shoulders, they just look ridiculous on me. My favorite was the last blazer, the double-breasted one, because of the closer to classic fit, but because of my larger bust, I almost always buy single-breasted.
which Toteme jacket were you talking about? 🙈 i love a couple of their jackets and i wonder if they’re good quality!
I fell victim to that horrible quality Totême jacket too after I saw it on you and loved how it looked lol. I got it for more than 50% off and I do love the look of it so much, but the fabric is indeed so bad. Every time I wear it I have to be hyper-aware of any movement I make so that it doesn't accidentally get caught somewhere and a thread gets pulled. It's heartbreaking 😂
It's so so bad isn't it!!! Mine is FULL of pulls xx
I'm curious, have either of you complained about it to Toteme customer services? I would have sent photos with an email of complaint if I bought a luxury item that basically fell apart/was poor quality - they charge those extortionate prices based on the idea that they are better quality than cheaper items, so they should absolutely have been told that they made a terrible quality product.
❤️❤️❤️
Toteme one reminds me of a sci fi old folks home
where are the earrings from?
For a blazer i would spend more. Why? Bc a blazer is the most tailord piece, no matter what design fitted, boxy, oversized,... a blazer needs to be perfect for you.
And i would always recomend sizing 1 up & then go to a tailor so they can adjust it to you
On a budget? Go to menssection at vintage/preowned store.
Like i love weekday for their denim & hoodies but i would never ever buy a blazer from them.
Arket i would give a change, JillSanders not by the look of it, and Toteme 🤔 either i think
I only speak about blazer here
💓💓
💙
I hope you are doing well, could you please put the details up of the blue jumper you are wearing when sitting down , thank you regards
It's a vintage t-shirt xxx
@@LizzyHadfield Okies thank you .
I have been very lucky to have found my perfect grey blazer, but still on the lookout for a black piece
You have a tattoo??? I never knew
Hey Liz, I got so excited to see you posted a blazers but it felt so forced in the end:/ You’re obviously not that into blazers at the moment and that’s fine, but it hurt watching you spend over a grand on items you feel so blah about. Part of what is great about your fashion videos is how excited you are about the pieces you feature and that joy transcends so it really shows when it’s not there. Or if it’s the concept that doesn’t interest you anymore, don’t feel the need to continue with testing basics. Just make videos about the things you’re into and we’ll support you!
Thank you Joanna! Sorry this felt forced, they are pieces I am sure I will feel more excited about when we all start going out more and a blazer seems more wearable again! xx
It's a shame you didn't venture out of your comfort zone with brands for this. For instance including at the higher end of things something by Stella McCartney or Blaze Milano or Smythe, all known for their blazers. Maybe a Max Mara? Or something from a diffusion brand like Sportmax? M&S at the affordable end of the spectrum? I think exploring new brands would help freshen up testing basics.
Hi! I asked on Instagram what brands everyone would like to see and selected from the most requested on there. which is probably why it's all many well known brands too! xx
Hi Lizzy, I really enjoy this series but I feel like it's a bit pointless to put (almost every sigle time) the most expensive pieces at the bottom of your rating list... It just seems quite fake to me... We all know you love designer clothes (and there's nothing wrong with it, I also treat myself to pieces from Toteme from time to time) and you if you really thought that they didn't deserve the high price tag you wouldn't buy them (I mean here the pieces that you buy outside of tasting basics). So please rate things in this series without the fear of sounding posh or whatever... we need your honest opinion. If you appreciate expensive clothes and the quality that comes with them so say it. Hope my criticism was constructive and didn't offend you in any way.
By the way, this cream blazer from Toteme is stunning on you! By far my favourite in the selection. xx
Hi Lia! Not offended at all and thank you for wording this kindly. I don't want this to seem disingenuous as, like you say, I am not shy to spending lots of money on expensive pieces. I would still shop from Toteme if they released an item I loved, the difference being I then wouldn't be buying four other similar items to compare it to. The point of this series has always been to try to decide if it's best to invest more money on each item, and isn't meant to be a reflection of whether I will never shop with a brand again (unless we have a total disaster!) xxx
I think Lizzy is trying to determine the best value, a combination of quality, style and wearability against each item’s price. I think her rankings are genuine, and the most expensive item is not always the best choice, unless it excels in these other criteria.
@@kimberlyperrotis8962 I don't think Lizzy is lying, what's bothering me is that in this series the most expensive items always get the worst rating and it is not coherent with her other purchases. She seems to enjoy high quality items and always says that even if they are expensive they somewhat worth that money (due to their durability, versatility etc) but in tasting basics she doesn't apply that same reasoning... And if it wasn't that systematic I wouldn't say anything. I just think it should be more balanced.
@@LizzyHadfield Thanks for your reply Lizzy. I just hope that my comment will help you to balance your approach to items' evaluation in testing basics. It would be interesting to not only compare the price tags and styling opportunities. You could probably include the "emotional" factor (how much joy you get from wearing each item) or the craftsmanship behind (where it was made and from what material - synthetic or not etc). You could also mention whether you would buy it again on not. xx
New tattoo???
You treat your clothes so poorly. Throwing them around. Balling them up. No wonder they are a mess
I agree.....the ball of scrunched jackets made me cringe.
lizzy hates cheap clothes lol otherwise she wouldn’t go on about how expensive~ they look despite the price. i just wish she would just come out and say it. it feels disingenuous
Not true at all! How many times have I raved about Uniqlo pieces, Weekday denim, Arket t-shirts?
@Lizzy Hadfield Hi from Seattle! This may sound perverted.. lol I just want to tell you how sexy it is to hear your voice talking about serious fashion again.. & I like to get excited about style..
Anyways, It feels so good to have you back again.. Rock on Mis Hadfield!!!! :D goodbye to the sweat suits...
