    First off, it's not the roofers fault. Second, you owe that man a bonus. That was above and beyond. I can't remember when I was skinny enough to do that.

    You are 100 percent correct. Hvac guy should never let the lineset get that close to the deck.

    yep same happens to our conduit if we run to close to the roof. NEC states no closer than 1.5 inches from a roof line.Great job young man Ive never witnessed anyone going in through the soffit, but now I know it can be done,

    This just happened to me. What came first the line set or new roof. Line set wins roofer paying for a new 50 ft. line set installation and 9 lbs. of R22 Freon. Contractors are always responsible for any damage created to property during the scope of work. Secondly always be aware where the line sets are running before nailing, in my case it was a vaulted ceiling 20 ft. and down the wall outside clearly visible to a roofer. I know it sucks but that's why you fix your mistakes or your bonding company will.. That guy was awesome, thanks for the video.

    I seriously wonder how that ladder did not slide down the wall. Just an extra two inches where the ladder feet was below the concrete slab would have been more stable. I am thankful it did not slide when the second guy mounted the ladder at the top.

    "Another good one !! Why do I do this all day then come home and watch it ?? Gotta love it."
    I guess it's because we like what we do! Glad I am not a happy grocery bagger! I had one 2 yrs ago where the install company ran the track pipe for the furnace against the roof and the roofers popped the gas line! But the access was much better.

  • @smacleod69
    @smacleod69 Рік тому +2

    I was in that situation 3 years ago. Roofers punctered a nail in the lineset the installers ran. it was a 1500 dollar bill rooferes were gonna have to pay. However they got out of it because according to code. Any type of piping had to be 2 inches from the room due to possible nail puncter. And the lineset was against the roof sheathing

    I once had an electrician stab a screw through a liquid line because he hung the AC disconnect box with a 6” screw instead of a 1” that wouldn’t hit the lineset inside the wall.

    Ted, timely video! Just had a new roof put on 9/7 and 9/8 and on 9/9 my 23 year old Trane AC split system in the attic is leaking freon! I called two AC companies told me the system is old and need a new system! The project roofing manager said he wanted "to check my attic" for something and didn't say what he was checking. I'm going to check my split system in the attic to see if I find any roof nails.

      other side of the roof, suction line and a team of roofers laying and banging with air nailers? not a chance, either wearing ear plugs/headphones/buds or half deaf after 30 seconds.
      unless it happened to blast oil/liquid out through the roof. say the liquid line when on, they'd have known quickly as the roof looked like a fire breathing dragon blowing smoke clouds

    Excellent dedication. When I run lineset near decking I’ll lay steel sheet metal on top of it. Nails can’t puncture it.

    • @kenthomas4668
      @kenthomas4668 Рік тому

      Sheet meat will not stop those naiul guns. I used to use 1900 electrical box covers to be thick enough

    • @throttlebottle5906
      @throttlebottle5906 Рік тому

      stick 1x3 or 2x2 on bottom of rafter to hold line set "far" away from roofline. yeah I know nobody wants to go crawl in there and do that job.
      you'd need some thick metal to stop most air/gas/cordless nailer and heaven forbid it's against a rafter, and they replace a section of decking on opposite side. they may use a framing nailer that's capable of anchoring to steel/concrete. 🤣

    IRL, install 1x3 or 2x2 strapping across bottom of rafter and fasten the line to it, far away from the roofline! it will save you and all future headaches. 😬
