When the skin is wounded, the tissues break, which causes a protein called collagen to be released. Collagen builds up where the tissue is damaged, helping to heal and strengthen the wound.
The collagen isn’t what causes the scar, it IS the scar! Collagen is a protein that is basically glue (it’s what glue that comes from horses is). The thing that causes the scar is the inflammatory response. The body responds to a wound by filling it with collagen, which doesn’t function as well as normal cells, in order to protect the wound from infection. If you can protect the wound well, the inflammatory response isn’t so bad and the scar is lesser

Sorry to hear about what happened to you. Glad that you are doing better ❤.... I had to have surgery to remove a large lipoma from my right face cheek. I was cut from the bottom of my earlobe to where my chin starts. The dr was concerned that I would care about the scar size or that I may develop a keloid. Never had a keloid in my life. Long story short, it has been 4 yrs and the scar is not visible unless you're up close and personal and I point it out lol and it really isn't visible then. Didn't put anything on it. The scars from the stitches faded quickly too. The scar on my back, where I was stabbed, hasn't went anywhere. I got that scar when I was 14.... I'm 45 now.....
I also had a mole removed on my leg because of skin cancer. When I asked my doctor what I could do to treat my scar and skin to ensure a healthy healing process she looked at me and said: "Nothing. Scars will alsways be visible anyway so there is no need for special care. In reality, nothing will work. Just remember to apply sunscreen on the scar." I was really unsatisfied, I just expected there was sonething I could do. The surgery was 8 months ago and my scar is still red, bumpy and pretty visible...
I burned the skin right off my thumb pad as a baker once. No scarring. Cycles of wash, air dry, aloe plant (fresh only), bandaid with antibiotic gel overnight. Repeat the next days until 100% healed.
I saw a segment where doctors asked people to apply Vitamin E,Neosporin, Vaseline or nothing at all. Those using any lubricant had a much higher rate of infection so they said NOT to use anything, just keep it clean. An infected wound will scar worse. Idk about this advice?
I like my scars and even if I get the chance to remove them, I won't. They remind me of my past battles that I bravely fought and enable me to keep me fighting the battles that are yet to come.
Half my face got burnt by steam from hot daal. Including my eyelids. After using Burnall for 3 days to heal the wound, I used ponds cold cream as a mask on the area. I kept it on all the time. Them wiped it off after two weeks with cotton. - the dead skin came off easily without discomfort and I had new unscathed skin underneath. All the skin needs to prevent scarring is loads of moisturizer all the time, don't let it dry out.
Scarring is dependant on the amount of collagen and protein in your diet, if you want to prevent scars then don't mess yourself up, but to make then less bad try treating your muscle like it's muscle and you'll be okay
I lost my sister to metastatic melanoma that spread to her whole body after beating it once. She never went in the sun without sunscreen. Please use sunscreen but use it right. Keep reapplying! She was only 42!!!
I can vouch for what he’s doing in terms of font let the scar dry and keep it covered! A family member had an open heart surgery and they cut him open from top of the chest all the way down to the mid/top of belly, so almost half his upper body. Instead of stitching it up they used this special “tape” (ok not sure what it is or what it’s called but it was a clear adhesives strip), and this tape acted in place of stitches and fully sealed up and sealed off the cut. This tape sticks to the body for about two weeks then will naturally star to peel off but when it did it left behind such a nice scar that healed so well and is fairly fine considering the extreme surgery. Also one time I burned my wrist really badly, like super super bad where it was in constant pain for over a week and I bought those cool wet compress things you can get from the drug stores and I wore them everyday for two weeks and now the burn is healed so well you can’t even see it, very very faint, so faint that besides myself no one else even realizes anything is there. So yep, if you have any cuts or injuries or scars just keep it moist and protected
I have facial scarring beside my left eye and I slapped bio-oil on it expecting it to be all hype and it actually worked. Yes the scar is indented but it's completely skin toned no discoloration
Depending on wear your cut is I’d wear sunscreen in hot conditions if wound is exposed to it. If not don’t bother obviously and the scar away products work! Slowly Apply to scar everyday really rub it on. Slowly fades it away. Make sure wound is cleaned and doesn’t hurt much. Raw wound clean it and apply ban aid with little pressure on it.

U are a warrior.💪🏻
listen i don’t mind scars because your know what scars show people what you’ve been through and they sure do make for good stories
Scarring is dependant on the amount of collagen and protein in your diet, if you want to prevent scars then don't mess yourself up, but to make then less bad try treating your muscle like it's muscle and you'll be okay
Get well soon, Doc.
I lost my sister to metastatic melanoma that spread to her whole body after beating it once. She never went in the sun without sunscreen. Please use sunscreen but use it right. Keep reapplying! She was only 42!!!
I’m so sorry you’re going through this
I can vouch for what he’s doing in terms of font let the scar dry and keep it covered!
Hope you are doing well there man! Prayers to heal fast and pains free
Glad you are okay! 💕

I have facial scarring beside my left eye and I slapped bio-oil on it expecting it to be all hype and it actually worked. Yes the scar is indented but it's completely skin toned no discoloration
I’m so sorry to hear this, may god heal you❤️🙏🏾 amazing doctor you don’t deserve this praying for you ❤️
Depending on wear your cut is I’d wear sunscreen in hot conditions if wound is exposed to it. If not don’t bother obviously and the scar away products work!
Slowly
Apply to scar everyday really rub it on.
Slowly fades it away. Make sure wound is cleaned and doesn’t hurt much. Raw wound clean it and apply ban aid with little pressure on it.
I hope you’re doing well. Much love and light ❤️
