Exactly. Apparently some of the model years had weird insurance or something because it could be considered jewelry with all the emblems, crowns, shields, etc. A true work of art.
Some time in the late 1980s, I saw a 1964 Imperial with this same color. God, it was beautiful. This is a beautiful car, but I like the 1964 best of all, then the 65 and 66.
Lovin' the stainless on the roof. Back when they actually knew what chrome, Nickle & gold plating were. Also when cars were made of steel & had PERSONALITY. Love also how the drivers seat is slightly taller than passenger seat. Details + craftmanship. Now everything is plastic, but they charge you as If it were stainless steel. LOL!
I am currently restoring my 60 Crown, thank you so much for this video! This gives me motivation to push on. Body and interior parts are not easy to find, much of them are ‘60 only. Mauve is such a rare and beautiful color for these!
Love the Speedo and other Large round instruments makes it seem like a giant sports car and the push button trans hilarious. And all in that Sunset Mauve wow! Also that grill looks modern like a new Bentley or something! KNOWWWWWWW
Luxury cars truly reached their acme or nadir in 1959-60 depending on your point of view. The Imperial was so massive that it warped the space-time around it. Small cars passed the Imperial at their own risk of being sucked into it’s gravity well.
Many prefer the 1957 to 1959 Imperials but the 1960 Imperial is still my favorite. I wish 30 years ago that I could have afforded the running 1960 Imperial LeBaron offered to me then for $950.

Haha love the springy sproingy sounds when operating the mirror by remote. So many great details on this one! The see-through taillights are a sight to behold. Easily the happiest instrument cluster / steering wheel combo in history.

My grandparents had one of these, though I think it was a lower trim level than Crown. My grandfather played the bass viol in the local symphony, and could put the whole thing in the trunk and close the lid! And my patriotic grandmother (a naturalized U.S. citizen) had an American flag on the power antenna. Apparently, to amuse infant me, she'd run the thing up and down just so I could see the flag moving! Such a cool car.

Back in the days when cars had lots of detail; now it seems to be lost in todays cars, they all look the same you have to look at the name plate to see what it is.
It's basically a limousine. I think of bankers and statesmen when I see these. Cadillacs were just as big in '60, but much more conventional, while the Imperial was simply bedazzling decadence. One cool feature was the "Panelescent" dash lighting. It had an indirect luminescence that gave the appearance of a spaceship control panel at night. What would one expect from the "space-age" era!
This is style, class, elegance magnificence, art and poetry on wheels! Today's "designers" need to go back in history and learn from the all time greats, like Virgil Exner....

I'm pretty sure DeBrown Auto Sales isn't in business anymore, though. 1960 was a long time ago. Early 60's Chryslers were awesome, and the '60 Imperial almost looks a little Cadillac-y, at least in the front. The color is fantastic. In the late 50's - early '60's the American luxury makers were going all out in styling, and this Imperial is a testimony to that. Thanks for a great video!

Nice 1960 Imperial. I bought a 1962 Imperial - Crown from a gentlemen in Lincoln. Nebraska in 1997 which I still have and it has the DeBrown Auto Sales emblem like yours. The gentlemen had a 1960 Imperial too that he sold and I never saw it. This could be it? Good luck with your car.

I love the front grille. It’s interesting that they changed the front, quite dramatically just for this one year. Then for 61 they went back to front grilles that resembled 57, 58, and 59.
I think this front end is very much like one on an Exner concept car. But the '61-63 front end had those insane free standing headlights. Four big chrome freestanding bullets sitting in areas carved out on each side of the grille.
My cousin had a 1959 Imperial Crown in two tone pink with the pink leather interior. The 1959 had a “Continental” style spare tire embellishment on the trunk lid. His had originally been ordered by a Chrysler executive as a gift for his wife.
The four door hardtop would have the same roofline, and on Imperials the stainless steel door frames make it look close to the hardtop but of course the 4dr ht is always the coolest. But having the quite good Chrysler factory air is more important! Also over the years the sedan doors probably continue to work and seal better. Anyway the car is still awesome. I broke into applause at the front end shot.

Some time in the late 1980s, I saw a 1964 Imperial with this same color. God, it was beautiful. This is a beautiful car, but I like the 1964 best of all, then the 65 and 66.

Some apreciations:
Steering wheel is like TV screen.
This car is a Dodge with toxido.
Tail lights are like those laser guns from Lost in Space serial.
Cokor is dirty pink pearled metallic finishing.
Trunk size is same hood size or similar.
Chrysler designers in '50s thougt that 60s decade will keep rocket influences, but not. In 1961 they abandoned these aero-rare-shapes.
