  • Extra weight on the wheels is important for snowblowing. Years ago I built a bracket to hold some case iron weights. But I recently came across a better design.
Projects like this are a mechanical engineer's dream... turning scrap steel into a useful device.

Two questions, where do you get weights like that and would you be interested in a little extra cash and make and sell the bracket? I have no idea how to weld. I've got an X300, hopefully not much difference between mine and your X370. Thought of one more question, do you use chains?

These weights came from Craftsman across the years. I had a couple to start with and my father in law had a few more. I'm not sure where you'd get them now... farm auctions perhaps!
These kinds of things are built to fit, so I'd hate to try to make one remotely from the target tractor. Plus there's shipping.. heavy stuff! I would probably help a friend with one, but don't plan to build to order.
Perhaps you can find a retired mechanical engineer like me near you who would like a project! We are out there...

@@cardinalflyer Thank you for the reply. I'll figure it out.

I like your bird. I'm more partial to rotary wings. I took lessons a long time ago, but then got scared of heights. Put an end to that. I have moderate level of ckd. 🤔🤔🤔

You have a big snow blower parked in the driveway just strap it down fire it up and warm the motor then rev it up, sure a jet engine would work better but it might be a lot louder.

Great video! Novice question: would it be possible to use different/heavier weights with the bagger bracket? I'm guessing you couldn't fit more of the kind you have (and maybe the angle of the bagger attachment wasn't quite right)?

The bracket is plenty strong enough for heavier weights. As for angles, I built it to match the weights I have available. If you have weights with a different shape you could design something which lets you mount them using a similar approach.

Do I have the have the bracket on the back

It depends. I built both of the brackets shown, but the posts mounted to the tractor body were from the bagger attachment. You could easily build similar posts and bolt them on. So no existing brackets were required for this project.

I'd say to eat more to be a counter weight. But then you'd screw up the weight and balance on the plane. Decisions, decisions. 🤔🤔🤔

Funny, I said the same to a neighbor! I recently received a kidney transplant and lost a lot of weight, and I could tell the difference in traction! I certainly recommend a better weight bracket over a bad kidney. ;-)

@@cardinalflyer now you got 3 kidneys?

Thanks for posting this video Keith. I was going to ask you about the weight bracket after you mentioned it in a previous video. I just bought a x390 with snowblower, delivery is tomorrow. I subscribed after watching your snow blowing videos. Good luck with your new kidney, you look great!
