Spent a total of 12 hours trying to fix my 2008 iMac, downloaded so many different installers because of this specific error. You my good sir have saved my sanity
Just a question out of curiosity - The Mac showed today's date, why would that be a problem? I managed to get it to work by turning the time back to 2015. I'm just curious why it showed the error. Is the installer too old? Will turning it back to, say, 2015 work every time? And thanks for the fix! Helped a lot!
Thanks alot for your comment. It helped me alot. I could not upgrade from Mac OS X 10.6.8 to Mountain Lion with my iMac 2011 for some reason. But as soon as I sudo changed date it worked immediately. Thank you so much for that comment, it helped me through all this headache! Now I am one step ahead to Mac OS Sierra for my old iMac. Cheers !
your the best! thanks, I just upgraded the SSD Ram and repasted the CPU and GPU on my early 2008 A1260 MacBook Pro, I got this laptop for a good deal, so far no GPU issues, I'm hoping the Gpu won't die since I clean the cooling system and added Arctic MX4 Thermal paste, and mine came in black compound around the GPU Die, fingers crossed I guess.

It does not work for me. when I type date, Terminal shows the current date

Try to modTry changing the date to the month and year when the installer was downloaded, that worked for me. In my case, it was September 2018
