    have in mind that you can OC most of the intel chips, i've went all in into 9700K clocking it to 5GHz and keeping in mind that it's a mid-range built thats three years old now - it's a screamer. There was a big hype with M1 chips and it bashes the Mini badly in Adobe apps while providing you with options to update the hardware for pennies.

    Very informative video, thanks a lot!) Guess I'll stick with 10th Gen for now, "if it works, don't fix it", and then we'll see) It was also an interesting retrospetve, seeing the more or less recent Intel tech trying to fare against the basic M2😄 They did a great job at Apple, but I personally strongly dislike their recent desktop hardware lineup:/ Could've done so much better, IMO, half of the configs they offer, as always, are simply laughable, unusable for pretty much anything but web surfing and social media.. that's totally intentional, probably.

    • @BartechTV
      @BartechTV  Рік тому

      I haven't tried it myself. The reason that Adobe apps don't work properly on Ryzen in macOS is because of missing instructions. So for Adobe apps to work properly then Proxmox must emulate the missing instructions in software. I don't know if it does that, but there is a thread on Reddit from somebody who had basically the same question as you and later said that it did work. I would say the Xeon w-32xx series cpu would arguably be the “most future proof” cpu at this point since Apple still sells Mac Pros based on this cpu. Even if you disagree it still belongs somewhere on your list. These things are also cheaper than most of the CPUs on your list 😉

      Not a specific motherboard but I've used Gigabyte and Asus in the past and been very happy with them. You can stay with 600 series to save some money as there's not going to be any performance benefit in going with a 700 series motherboard. Take a look at the Github pages for Z690 hackintoshes and make a note of which motherboards they're using. You don't have to use their EFI's but at least you can be 100% positive the motherboard works - github.com/search?q=z690+hackintosh

    Hey, have you tried any mini pcs? Such as the ones that come with Ryzen 5800u or 5800h or 5900hx? I think those are the fastest available that will work without an external dgpu. Then there is the Ryzen 7940hs with rx6650m in the HX100G minisforum but I read quite a lot of problems with mini pcs breaking after a while or beeing to noisy most of them. For Intel ones one would need thunderbolt and an external gpu, rx550 would do right? For video work of course a more potent one would be better, but for audio work I think a low end and cheap one would be enough. Cheers

    • @BartechTV
      @BartechTV  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes, a mini PC with a Ryzen CPU and 6600M graphics is the fastest hackintoshable Mini PC currently available.
      A 5800H scores about the same as an M1 in Geekbench 6 CPU, while the RX 6600M gets over 100K in metal, beating a 19 GPU Core M2 Pro. A 6650M should be simple to get working with a device-id spoof.
      I don't know about Intel Mini PC's with an eGPU, I think using an eGPU kinda defeats the purpose of a Mini PC in the first place, you may as well go for a mini ITX build which is a much neater solution.

      @@BartechTV Yes I have been looking at the Asrock Deskmeet B660 which can have up to 128gb ddr4 ram, pcie 4.0 nvme and 14th intel such as i7-14700 or i9-14900. With a low power card such as the rx 550 it might be the best value ever for 1000usd TOTAL you can have 128gb ram and 4tb (if going for the i5 14500)or if going with the I7 14700 one would have to choose less ram or less hard drive size to stick to the 1000usd limit (as an idea, specially when comparing to mac mini m2)
      The deskmeet comes with a 500watts bronze psu so I doubt it would work well for a bigger gpu such as rx 6800xt (actually it wouldnt fit lol). But there are better bigger sfx psu of course.
      For 500usd total I like the i3-14100 with 16gb ram and 1tb ssd (same setup of deskmeet b660 and rx 550 4gb).
      Been checking them in Newegg.
      Soon they'll release Deskmeet x600 for AM5 ryzen processors and it will have ddr5 (up to 192gb ram) and pcie m2 5.0.

      I have a €500 build video that should be uploaded in a few days. I'm using an 13-13100 as the 14100 wasn't available at the time I built it, with a 1TB WD SN770, 16GB DDR4, and a used Asus RX 5700.
      Exporting a six and a half minute 4K video to H.264 from FCP takes 3m 10s on this hackintosh.
      The same export took 8m 2s on my M1 MBA and 6m34s on my M2 Mini. So, I'm very happy with the performance for the cost.

    So do the E-Cores work now properly in Mac Os ? To my knowlage it was still best to disable the E-Cores at least for Audio production since Mac-Os recoginzes them as normal Cores but they dont have the necessary Performance.
    I want to build an Hackintosh for Logic 10 so my Idea was getting the 12400 and overclock it so i have 6 Performance Cores at 5.3 GHz but if the E-Cores work fine now the 13500 would be a better choice i guess.
    Tnx for your Video!

    • @BartechTV
      @BartechTV  Рік тому +3

      If you disable the E-cores, then the maximum CPU frequency will be that of the P-cores (4.8Ghz, in the case of the i5-13500). Gives you better peak single-core performance but worse multi-core performance.
      If you enable the E-cores, then all P-Cores and E-cores will be used, but macOS makes no distinction between them, and the maximum CPU frequency will be that of the E-Cores (3.5Ghz in the case of the i5-13500). Enabling all cores with the ProvideCurrentCPUInfo quirk and CPUTopologyRebuild kext generally gives about 20% better performance on average than just the P-cores on their own, at least in benchmarks like Cinebench and GeekBench.
      Although these limitations mean that the Alder Lake & Raptor Lake processors don't reach their full potential in macOS (eg. the i9-13900K hits 21k in Geekbench 6 Multicore under Linux or Windows, but only 18K in macOS) it's still faster than Apple's fastest CPU, the M1 Ultra. The reduction in max clock speed also results in lower power draw and less heat, which is important to some people.

      @@BartechTV Tnx a lot for your fast reply for most people this is pretty good news i guess. For Audio Production in my case highest Singlecore Speed and some Cores are important so i guess i stay with the 12400 for now since its very cheap too.
      The "true" Multicore Performance doesnt benefit me if Audio lanes that run on E-Cores get overflows and hickups.

      That should be relatively easy to get working. You'll need to spoof the CPU id as a Comet Lake CPU but otherwise straightforward.

    3:05 Apple is rapidly pushing their Intel lineup off the cliff. 8th gen may actually loose support with Mac OS 15 or 16. You can see this trend with how many Macs apple is dropping with each Mac OS release, for example 2017 iMacs, 2016-2017 MacBook pros they are all perfectly capable of running sonoma but the 2016 only has support for Monterey and 2017 only for Ventura. x86 Hackintosh systems may be completely obsolete in the very near future

      Even when Apple drops support for Macs with 8th gen Intel CPU's, Hackintosh users with 8th gen CPU's can continue to use them by simply changing their SMBIOS definition. I'm running Sonoma on a 4th gen Intel CPU, for example, even though the last real Mac with a Haswell CPU was dropped years ago.
      Apple seems to have adopted a five year Window of OS support. A new Mac will be given five years of support in major OS releases followed by another three years of security updates.
      Going by what we've seen from Apple up to now,
      macOS 2024 will drop support for 2018 machines - MBP, MBA & Mac mini 2018
      macOS 2025 will drop support for 2019 machines - MBP, MBA & iMac 4K/5K 2019
      macOS 2026 will drop support for 2020 machines - iMac 5K, MBP, MBA Intel 2020, & first gen MBP / MBA / Mac Mini (M1, 2020).
      macOS 2027 will drop support for 2021 machines - MBP 14" & 16" 2021, iMac 24"
      ...and so on.

      Yes, sure. You'll just need a compatible graphics card, though, since the "F" processors lack integrated graphics.
