I love how Martin speaks about Selena he adores her. I’m so happy people are realizing she is a truly gifted actress and not just a Disney queen i see her winning an Emmy for this role and also happy he is back on TV the comedy legend was missed.

Martin Short is special and I don't say that lightly. His talent is extraordinary. He's so naturally funny he should be on talk shows every other day and I wouldn't stop watching.
From what I'm aware it isn't natural, he puts in the work to make it look that way.
@@seansimpson8758 I'm sure he puts in a lot of work, he's an entertainer of the old school but he has an immense amount of natural talent too. He reminds me a little of Robin Williams, with constant gags and energy up his sleeve, desperate to entertain and make people laugh. I think that's either in someone or it's not.
He also appeared in a season of Damages, along with Lily Tomlin. Both carrying serious dramatic roles in the show.

He did an interview recently where he revealed that he prepares like 10x more material for each talkshow than he actually uses. This dude is like an endless fount of funny.

He's just as much of a firecracker at 71 as he was at 17.
Marty is so sharp and witty. Wearing his Order of Canada pin with such pride. It's heartbreaking that his beloved Nancy isn't here to share in the joy of all those GORGEOUS Grandkids. They were such a team - life is very unfair sometimes. Delighted for him, Steve and Selena that the show is doing so well. Love ya, Marty. ❤️🇨🇦❤️
Only Murders in the Building is sooooo good, it's hilarious and also a "who did it" mystery that is fun to follow and find out more information. Highly recommend it.

I just wish Martin Short could live his golden years with his loving wife Nancy at his side. They were true soulmates and never once had an argument. If she was a little grumpy, he would just do his best Ed Grimley "I'm very sorry I must say" and she would just melt. She would have been an amazing grandmother.

I loved, in his autobiography, that he mentioned that when she was mad at him she would ask to talk to Ed.
@@Days-nf6lf He has mentioned this a few times in a couple of interviews. I can only take his word at heart but it's probably not something he would purposely lie about. He was at her bedside throughout her cancer battle and when she died and was cremated, he went out on a boat on a favorite family vacation spot, poured her ashes into the lake and he and his children dove into it. Just beautiful.

@@jenniferkiehl6186 His children were in their early to mid twenties at the time. Also Martin Short lost his father, mother and older brother all within a span of a decade in the sixties. He has suffered more tragedy than most people know in a lifetime but has spent his entire career making other people laugh and smile.

Why do all the great comedians come from Canada? Martin Short, Jim Carrey, and John Candy are just a few that come to mind...
Self-deprecation is a potential gold mine for comedians and Canadians have turned it into a high art. Norm MacDonald being the obvious exception. He just liked to make people uncomfortable.

I have ALWAYS tuned in to Martin Short, since the SCTV days. He is one of the funniest comedians (still) alive. His biography is also great, one the funniest I have ever read. Keep it up Marty!
Been watching Martin Short interviews with Steve Martin and Selena and it's clear that he's better on his own. So funny and brilliant.
I agree. In their new show, Martin Short & Steve Martin mute each other. Their individual wit & humor just isn't there. I still watch the show, though, and expect these two will work it out.
I think it's quite telling that each person Martin mentioned throughout this interview was coupled with, even if just in jest, a quick jab to get a little laugh at their expense, but when it came to what he had to say about Selena, he had nothing but emphatic praises for her. His sincere admiration was apparent!
She's just very clearly a delightful person with great character. I'm obviously not acquainted with Selena Gomez personally, but considering all of the various accounts of her out there and the general attitude towards her (of people who actually know her, NOT the general public!), I think it's safe to say that she is just a kind, lovely person who gets A LOT of unfair judgement and criticism. And I will never be able to understand that! I suppose being objectively beautiful has it's own set of hardships and I've got to say, I don't envy her! You have to be incredibly secure and able to be kind to yourself to endure so much overwhelming negativity being directed at you. Selena does it so gracefully, it's inspiring!
