I always thought Ruben was innocent. Then, I heard of evidence that implied Ruben's guilt - I was swayed by that evidence. However, I was challenged here on UA-cam to back up my assertion that Ruben was guilty. So I just spent two days doing additional research to make sure I know what I am talking about. I also joined a paid subscription to listen to the "Hurricane Tapes" where Ruben, the arresting officer, the acquitting judge, and Ruben's friends (and his enemies) are either interviewed on old recordings or have recorded their own accounts of events. It was 13 hours of material to listen to. I now believe Ruben was likely innocent. It appears there was a group of men likely responsible for the massacre, and it did not include Ruben or the man driving his car that night. Ruben was no angel whatsoever. Denzel Washington made him appear pretty wholesome. But the evidence doesn't point to Ruben as being guilty of this crime. I am erasing and correcting the record where I said otherwise.
Wrongfully convicted. No question. I’ve read 2 books, so don’t try and hit me with that “you didn’t do any research” crap. I know more than you, or anybody who thinks Rubin was guilty.

I spent 13 hours researching Ruben Carter and his situation. I also joined a paid subscription to hear "The Hurricane Tapes" where I heard recordings and interviews from Ruben, the fellow driving Ruben's car that night, Ruben's friends (and enemies), the arresting officer, the acquitting judge, and many others who knew about the events surrounding the bar incident. Ruben and his acquaintance known around town as "the dancing boy" (because of his dancing skills), were not apparently part of the murderous group that shot those folks up. I am now convinced that Ruben and his associate (they just met formally that night) did not do it. I am glad I was challenged to dig deeper.
This 😢 very sad that he was being called guilty cause of the color of his skin and the law over looked him wrong place at the ER 😭 I'm glad that one group of people didn't give up on him 🫶❤️👍
