These race's will make you know how 1 second is a lot of time... Congratulations to our champ ..No tactics no plans... You wanna race me .. take me on ..254 high 🇰🇪🇰🇪
She's smarter than a beast. After two years of daily study of the steeplechase route, and following the chalk line (especially made for her), she completed the route with absolutely no detours or tea breaks.
Oh yeah? Well, Coburn was already looking after the one on the ground. And the Africans just walked off the field when Coburn and Frerich were on the ground after their one two win! Racists! Haha!
@@musicplease5 wasn't there a song about that was in the desert riding an African with No name, so on and so forth? Whatever it was it must have been racist!
In 2017 I was amazed that Chepkoech was able to come back and finish 4th after missing the first water jump. In 2019, now I know: she really is just that fast!
Funny thing she didn't even think she could run the 3000 steeplechase her coach just suggested it and to her own delight she found she was very good at it.
I love this! None of that tactical bullshit, just pure running to the line at your pure physical best. Good job for everyone, especially those who set NRs.
In the mouth of the Europeans, tactical is their way of converting a long distance race into a silly cat and mouse last minute sprint. Run your long distance race hard from the gun and they can't keep up. Congratulations to Beatrice.
Chepkoech would have won in 2017 as well but ran around the water jump and had to stop, turn around, run back about 15m, make another U-turn and then go over the water jump with no run up to it. She was almost 40m behind and had to run hard to get back in the race and finish 4th but it would have been a clear win otherwise. The next year she showed how dominant she was setting the WR and now she solidified that dominance in Doha with this convincing victory.
No one knows if she would have won. She made a huge gain after that brain freeze - when the lead group was making the short turn into the water jump, at least two runners almost tripped over Chepkoech who was seemingly more focused on the stands - they were making the turn, but she was staying wide with the wide turn, and almost crossed them up. But a huge reason for WHY Chepkoech made that big gain to get into the lead group again, was not long after that miss-up, a group of the trailing runners ahead of Chepkoech stumbled over a steeple jump that she was able to avoid, which opened a lane for Chepkoech to move up from the trailing group and give her a chance to catch back up. So had that trailing group NOT had that pile-up AFTER Chepkoech's mistake, she would have had a much more troublesome road ahead of her to get as close to the lead again, than what she ultimately had. Best to give credit to the runners who actually finished ahead of her, who ran technically efficient races and focused on the path ahead of them, which Chepkoech clearly did not do.....
I think she still would have a had a chance at a silver is she fully committed to go with Chepkoech early on. I know that it was a ridiculous pace for the 1st k but Kiyeng isn't a bad athlete by any means. She should have either fully committed or stayed back with the second pack instead of ending up in no mans land that early on in the race.
Not convinced tbh, I think Coburn would've beaten her anyway, had been in fantastic form all year. Had ran 9:04 with a fall in Prefontaine, I think she was always beating Kiyeng.
J Stewart Kiyeng is also the only one who used to chase down the banned drug cheat Ruth Jebet and beat her sometimes. I think she was trying the same thing here but Chepkoech is on another level.
It's funny how none of the women are at all animated when they get filmed before the start of the race. Usually the contestants smile and wave to the crowd. Here it's like they're preparing before the storm. Especially Chespol, haha
It's because sprinting is a battle whereas long distance running is a war. Except for Haile, he would stand at the starting line of a 10km with a massive cheesy grin from ear to ear lol.

I don’t think she even knew Emma was there cuz she was too far ahead to hear any voices of steps. Emma probably forgot about Beatrice too cuz she was too busy to secure that 2nd place. Emma joined Beatrice at the end to take a picture because everyone wants to be around the best. It was a nice race for both girls, they got what they came for.
@McLimo, she even took Emma Coburn's Championship record of 9:02. When Kenyans said that mistakes happened in London 2017 (when chepkoech missed the water jump and as a result, the US won, Courtney Frerichs asked; "WHAT MISTAKES?" That must not have gone unnoticed by the Kenyans. Frerichs was sixth! She was sixth down from silver. Yes, mistakes were made......by the Kenyans in 2017. I've also heard that Chepkoech fell (in that race) but that is unproven.
No disgrace to Coburn. Some defending champions didn't even medal. 2nd place to wr holder almost undefeated for 2years is no shame. Congrats to Chepkoech for bouncing back in style from London 2017. Congrats to Krause, I just love seeing underdogs doing well.
Huh? Sorry, but Krause already got bronce in WC 2015 and is the european champion. 2017 she was knocked out by another runner. She is really no underdog. That here was a tactical clever reace from her - may be a little bit too late for her finish - Coburn wasn't out of reach.
She still has the energy to pick her countrywoman up (who only wanted to rest btw). The Kenyans have sustained excellence in distance running. No wrong turn here. Just blast to the finish line. Chepkoiech, Kipyegon, Obiri, I love to watch all 3.
