- Many would be hardest levels are created but only a select few of them can live up to the hype. Some of the levels that made an attempt to stand alone ended up falling off over time and being forgotten.

Silent Circles was such a mess of a thing.
I was the first verifier, but I never really played the level all that much, it was just far too hard for me + I was verifying like a million levels, so I suggested to Zynvire that maybe Rori could give it a shot. Rori then never played the level because he was told that fixes need to be made (not blaming Rori, but he was literally just not told when the level was finished). All of a sudden Zynvire decided he wants to give the level to someone else (I was still in the SC server at the time) and was not really informed that Rori's issue was that he literally just didn't know the level was supposedly finished.
So I suggested Dolphy, Dolphy gets the level, Rori was reasonably upset because he just lost the level for literally no reason, I still feel pretty bad about this, I probably should've asked him before I suggested any replacements. Then Dolphy is playing the level, everything is going good for the level for once. Then Zynvire just actually goes mentally insane and gives the level to Xanii. Majkomar (the person who probably worked on the level the most by far) was very very upset by this move, because it was completely nonsensical and me and him were trying to convince Zynvire to just let Dolphy finish it. You can see how that turned out by the current state of the situation.
That level got beyond screwed by it's own host, I really don't know what was going through Zynvire's mind at any point throughout this entire process.

I remember waiting for more progress by dolphy in late 2021 but he never did. Silent Circles was my favorite upcoming top 1 so sad that it died. Why didn’t Zynvire just make it an open verification?
Silent Circles was the biggest flop in history, how do you make a former impossible level not even Top 20??
People who played the released version did not have good things to say about the gameplay. Might've been for the better that it died

- he verified tartarus but ended up being accused of hacking even to this day
- he almost verified silent circles but zynvire said "hey did you put your entire life into my level? lmao goodbye"
- after silent circles, vernam said that dolphy is gonna be the new verifier of kocmoc (when it was not decorated yet), but vernam accidentally gave dolphy almost impossible layout version of kocmoc which he suffered thru for months and never made any decent progress
- after 12 HOURS since 2.2 was released, dolphy unexpectedly for everyone finds out that he's gonna be drafted into a mandatory russian military service tommorow (he's gonna back in december of this year)
- he also might've been a first russian victor of acheron and kyouki but never finished the levels because of unluck and army
- i haven't been in touch with situation that much, but while dolphy was in army, vernam said that he's gonna make an exposing video on him. he accused dolphy of hacking and said that "he's got some convincing proofs". dolphy's fans were outraged and started to insult vernam, his fans, and others who believed his accusations. as a result, there was a huge shitshow in the russian community and then the news came that dolphy had a mental breakdown in the military when he found out about everything that's been going on. the conflict is currently frozen until dolphy's back in december
- dolphy's channel was handed over to his friend who started to make some algorithm-style videos and currently his channel barely got any views (compared to the time while dolphy was running it).
btw currently cherry team are building "silent circles infinity" which dolphy (probably) will be verifying. the project seems to be in a layout state now, you already can find some parts on yt.

This genre of GD content became less and less popular, but this exact type of content (more similar to Sea1997 and Norkbork than anything else) from within the genre was totally dead.
Stormfly was really the only one keeping it.

Even if GoS received a rating, it still wouldn't be top 1, since Unnerfed was more difficult and wouldn't reach the top 30 according to the verifier.
Great video, for WOODKID I was contacted one day randomly by Jakerz telling me he was kicking me from the verification due to the previous verifier making a terrible auto.

grains of sand is an absolutely fantastic level. i think its just an excellently executed level that was never fully appreciated.
Blade of Justice was never meant to be top 1, this is just a common misconception people made it out to be. It was meant to be harder than Catacylsm and nothing more. The fact it was so insanely difficult was because Manix was a terrible player at the time when he made the gameplay and therefore didn't realize the level's true difficulty, but he liked the attention the level got as a by-product, so he stuck with it, hence why it took so long for the level to be nerfed in the first place. In the end, it *was* harder than Cataclysm, so it did the job it was meant to fulfil.
And before you think I'm lying out of my ass; all of this confirmed by Manix himself, not long after the level got released.

idk the opposite of devil's advocate, but I believe the level was essentially hyped to be the next top one, which is where most if not all the disappointment came from.

BoJ was definitely saved by not being a top 1, many people look back on the original fondly as an easy extreme now, rather than an extremely annoying superbuffed top 1
and now we have edge of destiny, which still isn't top 1, but honors the legacy of the unnerfed version and is similarly well-liked
personally, I like how APT is now. It's better to be more fun than it would have been rather than force top 1 difficulty and end up with another Avernus. And I think a lot of people feel that way and are happy that they will also get to play this masterpiece rather than it being only accessible to the best of the best players.
its literally gonna be forgotten about now, thats what always happens when top 1s get ultra nerfed. Who cares if its fun, its legacy is gone now :/

Idk if it's a hot take, but Woodkid should have stayed an auto level, it shouldn't be a level to play but a level to watch tbh.

What I meant with my comment is that Woodkid has a gameplay that is visually pleasing with big structures and huge backgrounds, but it's not as fun to play. Ruthless was built around a more traditionnal and more fun gameplay, that's the difference.

I miss silent circles so much I remember waiting on in late 2021 for the verification but it never happens than it got nerfed in 2022 and not even a rate, I really wanted it to be top 1
I feel like APT will suffer the same fate as Silent Circles. It was supposed to be “the top one of 2.1” but now is nerfed to a top 40. Same process: good deco and “upcoming top.” Verifier gets passed due to slow verification process or lying scandals. Gets nerfed to a top 30-40. It’s sad, but it could happen.
Back when Silent Circles was verified (april 2022), it was considered to be around top 40 and 60, which means that nowadays, what could have been a demon in the top 15 is now (if it were to be rated and placed) at least between low extended and legacy.
Funny enough I have a copy of silent circles and I’m trying to re-verify it or just beat it. 81-100 x4 37%. It’s honestly not a bad level

2 things I noticed in the video
1.) in the woodkid segment he never discusses the copyright issues
2.) I might just be pulling this out of thin air but I remember in the dasher podcast that someone said that dolphy wouldn't play silent circles for months until the creator told him that he would lose the verification if he didn't play the level and this happened a few times

In my opinion APT could have been a sucess of a top 1 if not for tricks horrible managment of the situation, if trick was never given the verification the level probably would still be populuar, Also keep up the good content man!
imo it was doomed from the point the redecoration started, buffing 2015 gameplay to insane frontiers is not a good idea and it would become the next avernus if verified at the superbuffed state. the buffs were requested by apteam themselves, so trick is only half at fault here
not to mention the decoration not holding up anyway, as some parts are significantly worse than others
most of the buffs i saw people complaining about were in trick's superbuffed version he changed without permission, i get APTeams probably wouldn't have been the most fun to play either though
@@ox1y1gen What doesn't help it imo is that the deco itself really feels like it can't make up it's mind on whether it wants to be an aftercatabath remake or not.
Huge portions are so radically different from the 1.9 hell deco style that it ceases to feel at all like you're playing the aftercatabath in a lot of parts. Like seriously, a lot of the more detailed parts look like a minecraft "hyper realistic nether" texturepack, which is so divorced from the original theming you have to wonder what the point in keeping it a remake even is.
There are still parts where it looks a lot more like what you would expect out of a remake, a lot of which looks super undercooked and in some places unfinished. It looks like remnants of the old version which was much closer to bloodlust in theming, and they didn't redo since APT simply wanted to get the level out.
In other words, the level is trying to be bloodlust, while also trying to be it's own level, meaning it commits to neither. You can tell the it took 6 years to finish, because it's a disjointed mess that can't make up it's mind on what it wants to be.

Trusta nerfed the level and was the previous verifer as seen in the announcement to drop the level but it made sense bc the unnerfed level was beyond anyone’s skill level
@@staringcorgi6475 Sunix undid most of the nerfs that Trusta made however, when the level was passed over to RicoLP Manix forced him to hardnerf the level just to get it out which is why Wooshi beat it so quick over release
