"Libera me from Hell" consists of two very distinct music pieces: Opera and rap. Opera is a very somber and traditionally tragic genre, with themes usually centered around inevitability of fate and human mortality. Opera is supposed to make you experience catharsis and accept whatever painful truth it is trying to convey Rap is different. *Very different* . It's fundamentaly a rebellious genre, very energetic and defiant of traditions and norms. One of the main themes explored in rap is willpower and how it can overcome pretty much any obstacle that can possibly rise in your way. "Libera me from Hell" takes this genres and makes them fight to the death. Throughout the whole song rap - symbol of human will, determination and the power of the spiral - struggles against Opera - symbol of fate, depression, stagnation and anti-spiral. At times rap is almost completely drowned by the Opera, only for it to gloriously re-emerge and silence it's opponent. This might be the best symbolism in anime music I've ever heard in my life
It's great to know that this hot-blooded super robot anime can still draw in intelligent folks like you and me. Too often in animes like this, the smart guy gives up way too early and gives the rest of us a bad name.
“Don’t be distracted by the what-if’s, should-have’s, and if-only’s. The one thing you choose for yourself - that is the truth of your universe.” - Kamina
The OPERA refers to those who accepts their sad fate and the RAP refers to those who fight against them who forces them to accept that sad fate. Both of them combined, its a perfect example of our world.
Yes it beautiful the Opera is the anti spiral while the rap is team Dai Gurren the whole song is the last 10 episode of the show in song form. The opera strikes first the rap responds and so on. At the end the Opera and rap are playing simultaneously the Opera is overshadowing rap but slowly very slowly the rap gets louder and louder till it's at equal volume to the Opera until finally it utterly drowns it out.
I really like that scene too, I also like how it shows that viral really does have spiral power, and seeing him bring out enkidu's swords in the final battle gets me every time
The whole point is that the opera portion represents the antispiral, basically how they act godly and are punishing the spiral life forms, and the rap portion is (if you think about it) just kamina’s voice which is telling team guren that they have to fight back against the antispiral, and not giving up. It captures the whole show, how at the beginning it was the spirals whoich the audience knew, and they were going strong (refers to volume) but then you hear the antispirals (opera) and it’s much louder, then your see the difference in power. But then as the song progresses you see the voice of “ row row fight the power” get louder consistently, showing how they’re rising up, and at the end the opera ceases and you hear one last “fight the power”. This shows the spirals beating the antispirals
Thank God someone already pointed that out for me, I thought I would have to do that. For anyone wondering the name of the Latin Chant in this is titled "Libera Me Domine" look it up you'll find it.
I was sad at both Kamina's and Kittan's death but Kittan hit harder since I saw him as a continuation of Kamina's legacy along with Simon... at least he went his own way and didn't give into the Anti-Spiral. R.I.P. my man, continue to fight the power
My only regret with watching this show is never being able to watch it again for the 1st time. It truly is a roller coaster of emotions from sadness to happiness, from despair to exaltation. Quite possibly the best anime I've ever seen
@@elquatroloko8096 I've thought about sitting down and watching the movies. But I just worry that they wouldn't do the show enough justice. They could keep the big key details but there's a lot of stuff they have to cut out. And almost every episode was critical to the storyline
the one thing that really makes me so excitingly scared is how Hiroyuki Imaishi, the creator of gurren lagann, you can have him create anything and I mean anything, and he'll make the dumbest or silliest things meaningful or full of fun a film of an exciting prison escape thriller(Dead Leaves) an anime about willing to love yourself no matter what people think of your body even if it's embarrassing(KLK) an anime about appreciating experiences that are valuable, still valuable even if it's briefly or a glimpse(SPL) out of all of his works, I always get the impression that Imaishi after he was finished with Dead Leaves, decided to crank up his game to the max, to reach peak SOOO early. And I truly believe that none of his upcoming works will ever surpass Gurren Lagann, and you know what, that's okay, and idgaf what kind of stuff he does, cuz I'm looking forward to whatever the hell kind of dumb fun he makes(as someone whose been watching almost all of his works). Gurren Lagann is truly, the anime of all time, the peak of all time, the moon that shines bright until the night arrives

Swen Zettler "I ain't saying no showy crap like "Later, buddy," or something lame like that! I'LL BE SEEING YOU SOON, YOU BOZOOOOOOS!" "This is Simon's soul! Team Dai-Gurren's soul! Humanity's soul... and actually, it's MY SOUL! Do you seriously think it's gonna be wiped out by the likes of you?! King.... Kittan... GIGA... DRILL... BREAK!!!" So this is the power of the spiral... Not bad, not bad at all..." Of course, Simon's "Not my Bro" speech takes the cake, but you have to understand that Kittan is a pretty cool guy.
“The dreams of those who've fallen! The hopes of those who'll follow! Those two sets of dreams weave together into a double helix! Drilling a path towards tomorrow! And that's Tengen Toppa! That's Gurren Lagann!” - Simon “Don't believe in yourself. Believe in me! Believe in the Kamina who believes in you!” - Kamina “Your drill is the drill that will pierce the Heavens!” - Kamina “Who the hell do you think I am?!” - Kamina “We evolve, beyond the person that we were a minute before. Little by little, we advance with each turn. That's how a drill works!” - Simon “Believe in yourself. Not in the you who believes in me. Not the me who believes in you. Believe in the you who believes in yourself.” - Kamina “If there's a wall in our way, then we smash it down! If there isn't a path then we carve one ourselves! The magma of our souls burns with a mighty flame! Gurren Lagann! Just who in the hell do you think we are!?” - Kamina and Simon “I will believe! I will believe in the me that believes in us, humans and the future! This drill is... my soul!” - Simon
I had a great pleasure to see this song live at Iwasaki Taku's concert in Tokyo. It was the last song of the show. The rapper had a fake glowing drill that imitated the one from anime. At first a dim light was set only on him, standing in the middle of the stage with Taku playing on the side. The drill was glowing while we listened to the rapper. And then, suddenly when the opera part started, a strong light was set way above the stage. For a whole concert I didn't even notice that there is a balcony above and now, a real opera singer in full dress appeared there live singing this awesome song. I still can't forget this sensation.
I love the musical progression of this piece. It starts out with just the opera, which is essentially a proclamation of their death. Then the piano kicks in and the rap starts as a kind of retort. Humanity is saying “No. we will fight the power” afterwards, the opera gets louder to reiterate their demise. It goes back and forth like this until the music overlaps and they try to drone each other out by getting progressively louder. Finally, you have nothing but the fight the power at the end as a proclamation of their victory

Whenever I find myself facing problems, great difficulties or even just insecurities, I come here to listen to this song and I immediately reconnect to my force of will. It's incredible how a song (or a single verse) can turn my energy on. Amazing anime, amazing song. Also, I've finished my third Gurren Lagann rewatch yesterday and I noticed how I perceived all the feelings of the characters and their choices thought the story differently from the first two times. Why? Because I've watched this anime for the first time when I was 14, then at 16/17 and now at 22. It hurts differently because I've grown up and matured during adolescence and what I've considered superficial or lame due to my immaturity and my youth now has gained a pretty deep meaning to me and has left something to think about and, most importantly, to learn from. Pretty sure I'll do a rewatch in 3 years or so, I'm sure I'll find out some more to learn. If you haven't already watched Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, I really suggest you to watch it as soon as possible.
I’m with you here buddy. I always come back to this track for the same reasons as you do. I’m 34 now and I’ve only been able to share this anime with one other person in my life time prior to this year. I’ve rewatched this anime twice this year already and one time was for the 15th anniversary, and for the other time I was finally able to convince my girlfriend to watch it. The best part is that my girlfriend and her middle sister and her boyfriend joined in. Now I don’t know if they consider it their favorite anime, I get it. But they have said how much they appreciate having watched it finally and it has easily become one of their top animes they’ve experienced. They cried, laughed, and reacted in every way and moment that I hoped they would. We even went to Fanime this year and we got ourselves the flag of team Dai Gurren!! Gurren Lagann will and does live on. Kamina lives on. In our hearts and on our backs. Gurren Lagann will always manage to find a way to pierce the heavens!! And I will forever claim that TTGL is MY favorite work of anime of all time!!
Every year from 2012? (i belive) i rewatching ttgl, and every time it hit me so fcking hard, this anime were with me through basically all my conscious life(23 years old now) and im glad i have perfect dub for it. I think nothing will ever compete with ttgl for 1st place in my anime chart or even be close to it
I just finished my 3.? 4.? Run of TTGL And man.... I really dig you. The last time I watched this series I also was like 17, maybe 18 and now that I am 21 (22 in a couple of days) I just perceive it in some other way. Gurren Lagann has always been my favorite anime since I first saw it and I am so glad that I watched it again. Idk why but as of late I am feeling kinda unwell, hard to put into words why or how, since everything seems to be normal and going pretty well actually but I just feel more "off" from day to day. I can't really tell if watching Gurren Lagann again after all these years will help me with my current situation.... But I won't believe in myself or believe that someone else will help me out. I will believe in the me that believes in myself!
Gonna be honest my friend recommended evangelion but i had heard it was incredibly depressing so i watched ttgl instead because i didnt wanna feel bad. i wasnt disappointed, when characters in ttgl die its like jojo deaths in that it just makes me like them more because they die in a cool way.
@@johnnydaves5132 Except Kamina. He deserved to die in the *coolest fucking way possible* , during final battle, when chances to win were literally 0%. He could be like...taking billions of billons of enemies with himself, slicing through fucking planets or something and then exploding to destroy the antispiral's universe. I could've been crying with tears of happiness. (8th episode was super sad and even more depressing was the fact that Kamina wasn't able to see what happened next.)
@@lovepeace9727 eh, agree to disagree. simon wouldnt have become the man he is if kamina didnt die. he was in kaminas shadow. kamina is one of my favourite anime characters but he had to die so simon could set himself apart from him.
Imagine the insane, godly energy a live performance of this would generate. Symphony swelling in the background, piano punching through it at all, DJ mixing in the beats, rapper ripping through the rhymes, soprano belting out Libera Me with ever-greater intensity and desperation, and the crowd just chanting back in unison "ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWER."

Evangelion: You Must Not Run Away. Gurren Lagann: You Must Keep Pushing Forward. Two themes that are seemingly the same but the crucial distinction comes within the tone and presentation of the shows. Both shows are two sides of the same coin. They're absolute masterpieces of not only anime but media in general.
That scene from episode 26 brings a tear to my eye. Seeing how much Simon has grown and when Kamina said "Hey since when did you get taller than me?" Made me tear up a bit 🥲 Edit: Holy cow 1k likes, thank you all so much!
August 5 2022 still admiring a hell lot of this anime. first time watching this as a high school kid now watching it again as a husband waiting for his son to be born. time flies but this anime is forever
Wait..this.. I think I only now realized what this is about. What was happening in the author's head. This is about a fight between the inevitability of death (perhaps some nihilistic notion or mindset) vs the undying will to excel and prevail. Just listen to that chilling voice, powerful and large, like death, vs the rapping guys, just shitting on top of it, like they will do whatever they set their mind to, whatever the cost, and no matter the fact one day they'll die.
Death is inevitable for us in this world, but for as long as we are alive, we can choose what we will do with that limited time. We carve out our own Destiny, and never accept some idealistic superstition like "Fate" shackle our lives to a quiet routine of doing anything others tell us..
"We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command nor faith a dictum. I am my own god. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us." - Charles Bukowski

Actually, This is a really goos song with much feels to it. Its not a sad song acutally a song of awesomeness. Its just that I miss the anime so im sad ;_;..
♡YunnaNeko♡ me too. YOU KNOW someone will die with this song playing. It makes me think of Kamina too. It has HIS THEME SONG as the rap lyrics :_: god my eyes are watering as I type this. :_:7 Kamina was an amazing, beautifully written character. What was a cocky, hyperactive man on the outside, was a strong and supportive brother on the inside. Deep down all Kamina wanted, was to help Simon see the potential he has, the potential KAMINA sees in him. "Believe in yourself, believe in the SIMON that believes in you." :_:7 I wish I had a brother, and I wish I had one like Kamina. "It's not about blood, you and me are siblings of the soul" - Kamina :_:7
Nia: Even when trapped by karma's cycle... Yoko: The dreams we left behind will open the door! Leeron: Even if the universe stands in our way... Viral: Our seething blood will determine what will be! Simon: We'll break through time and space... Team Dai-Gurren: And defy all who would stop us, to grab hold of our path! Simon: TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN!! Team Dai-Gurren: JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE!?!
If you're gonna dig, dig to the heavens. No matter what's in my way I won't stop! Once I've dug through, it means that I've WON! Just who the hell do you think I am? I'm Simon. I'm not my Bro. I'm ME! Simon the Digger!
Somehow what hits me the hardest with this song is Viral. He never said anything, to anyone. Didn't mention any of what he wanted most of all, what his perfect life looked like. What he could never, ever have. And when he realised he was being held in it, he quietly set down his wonderful dream of his perfect life, smiled and walked away from it back into the fight. It really feels, in an oddly quiet and understated way, like he made the biggest sacrifice - he gave up what he'd never have, and never could again. He had the impossible, and he let go of it for them.
He probably knew the terms of his existence being a beastman from the start, so I think he came to terms with it earlier in his life. Of course, living his whole life knowing he can't have something he truly wants is the real tragedy here.
To all those who helped me make Gurren Lagann on r/place, I thank you. It started with just me and one other asking for help and starting with just 20 people, we beat the odds and took our own spot. We made history. All the lights in the heavens are stars.
This song is basically Anti Spiral: God comes for all of us. Time always passes and nature is inevitable Humanity: BRING GOD HERE AND ILL KICK HIS ASS TOO
Pull up "The divine comedy" by Dante in your Wikipedia, and you'll know what TTGL is built upon ;) Case in point, "Libera me" is a Gregorian requiem which fits with that classic literature tenet's time period, too.
Explanation: it's about man's escape from the early sphere, ascent through the stages of hell, into elysium. Focus is on the divine gifts of humanity. The stage in ep26 is it example, the one where those gifts are squandered in favor of the mediocre and the comfortable.
+Realag666 its unfortunate that was used in an older anime. gaogaigar. which clearly the same ount of insanity went into well hammers instead of drills though
Tonight, I find myself engulfed in rage due to a situation threatening my family. It's been incredibly hard to find peace within myself. Yet, somehow, it's this very piece of music that has managed to calm the storm inside me. I've been listening to this instrument for 14 years, and there was a time when it filled my days almost religiously. But it's been years since I last allowed myself to be carried away by its melodies. This masterpiece, this exceptional instrument, has once again freed my heart and mind from the shackles of anger. Through its notes, I've been reminded that even in the midst of fury, there exists a dire need for tranquility. This music has taught me that even the wildest storms crave peace.

I'm a college student struggling to keep up his grades. A couple days ago I took a test for a class, and I know I didn't do as well as I could have. It's weird because I remember being so great with school-work when I was younger, but these days I just can't seem to meet the bar like I used to. It's been a long time since I've seen an A on my cumulative class score, and I've got to be honest, it's depressing to see how far I away I am now from being any sort of ideal student. Maybe I never really was. This isn't the first time I've felt this way, but today in particular it's been sinking in more than usual. I decided to listen to this song to try and raise my spirits a little, and you know what, it's really helping! Truth is, I never did this to fit an ideal, or to be the best, but because I could. It doesn't matter that things aren't what they used to be. As long as I've got the choice, I'll keep drilling forward!
Same here man, ive always been crappy at math but this song helped me get through studying for my college math tests so far. Just do your best and forget the rest, if ur having trouble with one of your classes try and reserve a few minutes each day to look over the stuff you feel you struggle the most with. maybe focus on the main idea first then once you've got that down fill in the details by doing examples you can practice with.
I feel you man. I'm taking a break from college for that reason alone. i used to pride myself with being able to get through school without hardly trying at all. Now I just find that there isn't anything in me that WANTS to try. It may be disappointing to my parents but I think I'm just done with school. I don't really care about a degree but I'll finish it online or something but I no longer even want to get to class. People who don't fit into an ideal like us are meant for something more. Wolf in sheep clothing, my friend
KC Fugrad Yeah, but I can't let myself stop trying. From what I can tell, I'm progressing, just not at an ideal rate. I keep retaking classes that I get D's in and wind up with C's or even B's. I'm not expecting to be the next Bill Gates, but I gotta try and move forward. If the old ways won't work, I'll just have to find a new one!
True story, I had a friend, he introduced me to this anime, and we used to watch this on scifi animonday I think it was, so one day he was driving along side his dad, his dad was drunk driving and was speeding over 100 mph, they crashed into a light post and the ejected out the car and died, it was on the news at one point, so I went to his funeral , and his mom requested that this song should play, and it did, so I was on the bench cried my tears out, so I watched the rest of the anime for him and still watch it to this day and I get visions of me with my friend, so I start breaking down in tears, so now I take medication for my depression.
I’m so sorry you went through this experience. But I’m sure that your friend probably just spiraled his way into existence just to hear it one last time.
I know this is a weird place for this but I just have to say thank you to this show so much. This show is partially what pulled me out of depression, this show is both a safe space and guide that always tells me to dream bigger. This show is what inspires my life and makes me never want to settle for what others at is ok. This show plus a friend that helped me get throught some hard patches in my life (coincidentally the one who showed me GL) are the reason I'm alive today. This song is the anthem to my progress and it never gets tiring to me. I don't know if any of you care but I just want to say how much I love this song and it's message
Y'know I listened to a lot music from Gurren Lagann every day recently as I was having a hard time and it gave me the conviction to move on, but I realized something, it wasn't the music, it wasn't necessarily Gurren Lagann that gave me this feeling, it was the comments and all of you people talking about achieving your goals, how good your lives are now or if they are not good how you will strive to make them better, how this anime has changed your life, all of you making the impossible possible and pushing though it, it's you all of you that give me conviction to push onward every day, so thank you lads and lasses, in the darkness that is life we run endlessly towards a light that is our happiness, but I think in the process we can illuminate that darkness for others as we run towards it and you, your stories on all these different songs have done just that for me someone you've never even met, so thank you...now then ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWER
The manliest man of the past meets the manliest man of the present, his successor, his blood brother one last time; many spiral tears are wept throughout the universe.
This is my lifeline. Thinking about the bad? Row row fight the power. Life got me down? Row row fight the power. Hate my body more than i usually do? Row row fight the power. Bottom line? One step at a time, keep going, no matter how hard it gets.
Even when trapped by karma’s cycle... The dreams we left behind will open the door! Even if the infinite universe stands in our way... The seething of our blood will determine what will be! We’ll break through time and space ...to grab hold of our own path! TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN! JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE?!
I love how the song has the opera and the rap taking turns and near the end both are happening at the same time. But the rap is quieter its being overwhelmed by the opera which keeps talking about sad things like death. And then when there is more than one voice rapping, it overtakes the sad music until all you hear is row row fight the power
After 5 years of knowing about it, despite having read about it, on tvtropes and wikipedia, despite being fully spoilered, I decided to start watching this series. Spoilered or not, THIS IS A MASTERPIECE. If you, random internet person reading this, happen to be on the fence, like I was, don't hesitate, go frickin watch this shit already. I swear, there is no thing on this earth to surpass the awesomeness and badassery of this show. Just do it, ANIKI. Don't believe in yourself. Don't believe in the me who believes in you. Believe in the you who believes in you.
people give Imaishi all the credit for Gurren Lagann, and he deserves credit for such a beautiful story with beautiful and clever animation, but Iwasaki's soundtrack elevates it to a whole new height. Peak fiction, nothing will ever surpass Gurren Lagann.
More than to pierce, your drill is the drill that CREATES the heavens! And I hope that, in one year of this comment, you have created a lot of achievements
The meaning in the song is amazing when you think about it. Starts off with Kamina raping and an occasional "Row Row Fight the Powah!", but as the song goes on Kamina continues to get quieter, while the team chant gets louder. Near the end Kamina goes silent completely while team Dai Gurren is louder than ever. Kamina started it all, while Dai Gurren finished it together.
It's like the opera is the anti spirals and the rapping is team (dai) gurren. As the song goes longer the rapping gets louder and so does the opera just like their fight
the fact that you only really ever hear “Do the impossible, see the invisible” right before someone sacrifices themselves for DaiGurren makes the song that much more bittersweet
The opera part are the anti-spiral, old and respected like opera. The rap portion are the spiral creatures, new and evolving. Throughout the song they fight to be the loudest until the rap portion drowns out the opera.
*watches kamina dies and dosent cry* me: "i must be a real man since i didnt cry." *kamina comes back later in the show in episode 26* me: -cant stop crying- life: "you dumbass... kamina makes everyone cry earlier or later, it cant be avoided"

The only anime that reached the point of making me emotionally sad and cry was steins gate both original and 0 endings I guess that the downside of having watched a lot of good anime in childhood where I didn't understand the importance of the carecters actions and the concept of death
Trust me. It’s worth watching it all the way through. Take it from some one who’s watched the Four Horsemen of Depression when it comes to anime. Props for those who know what I’m talking about.
What's weird about this song is, I'm usually not a fan of rap. Even in this song, just on it's own without context, I would find it pretty mediocre (personal preference). But just by what it represents, what it stands for, what I've seen and remember, it's suddenly this grand epic. Just by listening to this I get chills every time. Gurren Lagann really was more than an anime, it was an experience, a journey, a battle. An epic I will remember forever.

Row row, fight the power.

In case anyone’s wondering, the Latin is almost word for word a traditional Catholic prayer for the dead.
Ties into Simon's speech about the dreams of those that went before and the hopes of those following. A double helix. A drill to pierce the heavens!
Would make sense. Deliverance from Death and God being associate with fire are both very Christian elements.

There will never be another anime like Gurren Laggan, it stands at the peak as one of the best, and is literally untouchable and unbreakable.
The only anime that could come close is Gunbuster 3 if that ever comes out
F agreed about the analogy with Gunbuster 3
the one thing that really makes me so excitingly scared is how Hiroyuki Imaishi, the creator of gurren lagann,
you can have him create anything and I mean anything, and he'll make the dumbest or silliest things meaningful or full of fun
a film of an exciting prison escape thriller(Dead Leaves)
an anime about willing to love yourself no matter what people think of your body even if it's embarrassing(KLK)
an anime about appreciating experiences that are valuable, still valuable even if it's briefly or a glimpse(SPL)
out of all of his works, I always get the impression that Imaishi after he was finished with Dead Leaves, decided to crank up his game to the max, to reach peak SOOO early. And I truly believe that none of his upcoming works will ever surpass Gurren Lagann, and you know what, that's okay, and idgaf what kind of stuff he does, cuz I'm looking forward to whatever the hell kind of dumb fun he makes(as someone whose been watching almost all of his works).

This are words from the greatest people in the show
I had a great pleasure to see this song live at Iwasaki Taku's concert in Tokyo.
Thank you for you explanation, i love TTGL and this OST, and never thougth about the meaning of this songs until now. Thanks.

I’m with you here buddy. I always come back to this track for the same reasons as you do.
We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us."

Crying again
"Do the impossible, see the invisible.
Row. Row. Fight the power."
I wonder if Viral ever considered adoption. There were plenty of Beastmen refugees; they are a sort of family in their own right.

Explanation: it's about man's escape from the early sphere, ascent through the stages of hell, into elysium. Focus is on the divine gifts of humanity. The stage in ep26 is it example, the one where those gifts are squandered in favor of the mediocre and the comfortable.

I can relate. Although listening to this song would have a negative effect for me lol.
***** On the contrary, your English is very good!
Just got back from seeing Part 2 of the Movie in theaters. I’m blown away
Had this on blast on my way back home too
True story, I had a friend, he introduced me to this anime, and we used to watch this on scifi animonday I think it was, so one day he was driving along side his dad, his dad was drunk driving and was speeding over 100 mph, they crashed into a light post and the ejected out the car and died, it was on the news at one point, so I went to his funeral , and his mom requested that this song should play, and it did, so I was on the bench cried my tears out, so I watched the rest of the anime for him and still watch it to this day and I get visions of me with my friend, so I start breaking down in tears, so now I take medication for my depression.
damn that was a tough read.. i cried.. stay strong man

Tj Newman what a coincidence
Tj Newman don't belive in yourself belive in the guran Lagann that belives in you!
I cared enough to read.. hope that means anything.
Tj Newman dont believe in the me that you believe in, nor the kamina that believes in you, believe in the you that believes in yourself.
gary gary never heard more true words
What a compelling and poignant comment, I hope you have a wonderful life OP, thank you too

I love how the song has the opera and the rap taking turns and near the end both are happening at the same time. But the rap is quieter its being overwhelmed by the opera which keeps talking about sad things like death. And then when there is more than one voice rapping, it overtakes the sad music until all you hear is row row fight the power
After 5 years of knowing about it, despite having read about it, on

Thats true

WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE?
What's weird about this song is, I'm usually not a fan of rap. Even in this song, just on it's own without context, I would find it pretty mediocre (personal preference). But just by what it represents, what it stands for, what I've seen and remember, it's suddenly this grand epic. Just by listening to this I get chills every time. Gurren Lagann really was more than an anime, it was an experience, a journey, a battle. An epic I will remember forever.
I love Rap and hip-hop, and I agree totally with you.
same here but the rap representing the grunt force of the earth vs the high and noble opera of the anti spiral, god this is so good
